General principles of Wiccan beliefs:

Wicca is an almost completely decentralized religion. George Knowles, a Wiccan author, has said: "“Wicca has no high authority, no single leader, no prophet and no Bible to dictate its laws and beliefs”. 1 Many, perhaps most, Wiccans are solitary practitioners. Others form small local groups called covens, groves, etc. Thus, there probably are almost as many sets of Wiccan beliefs as there are Wiccans.

However, in 1973, a group of about 73 representatives from many Wiccan paths and traditions met in Minneapolis to form a temporary "Council of American Witches" under the leadership of Carl Llewellyn Weschcke, of the well known Llewellyn publishing house that specializes in books dealing with alternative health and healing, astrology, earth-based religions, shamanism, Gnostic Christianity, Kabbalah, etc. The group successfully created a set of beliefs that harmonized the beliefs of the many Wiccan traditions in the U.S. at the time. The group disbanded shortly afterwards. However their 13 principles are still endorsed by many American Wiccans.

Of particular interest are:
bullet Principle #2 which stresses the importance of care of the environment. Recall that this statement was prepared over four decades ago.

bullet Principle #4 which affirms the equality of women and men. It briefly touches on sex magick. These are a belief and practice foreign to many of today's organized religions who continue to denigrate women and fear human sexuality.

bullet Principle #10 refers to the intense opposition and oppression experienced by many Wiccans at the time, typically from conservative Christians. This culminated in a lynching of a Wiccan, and two fundamentalist Christian pastors calling for government programs of genocide to wipe out Wiccans. This hatred has largely faded since these principles were written.

The 13 principles of Wiccan belief:

We practice rites to attune ourselves with the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the Moon and the seasonal Quarters and Cross Quarters.

We recognize that our intelligence gives us a unique responsibility toward our environment. We seek to live in harmony with nature in ecological balance offering fulfillment to life and consciousness within an evolutionary concept.

We acknowledge a depth of power far greater than that apparent to the average person. Because it is far greater than ordinary it is sometimes called ‘supernatural’, but we see it as lying within that which is naturally potential to all.

We conceive of the Creative Power in the universe as manifesting through polarity – as masculine and feminine – and that this same Creative Power lies in all people and functions through the interaction of the masculine and the feminine. We value neither above the other knowing each to be supportive of the other. We value sex as pleasure as the symbol and embodiment of life, and as one of the sources of energy used in magical practice and religious worship.

We recognize both outer worlds and inner, or psychological worlds sometimes known as the Spiritual World, the Collective Unconsciousness, the Inner Planes etc – and we see in the interaction of these two dimensions the basis for paranormal phenomena and magical exercises. We neglect neither dimension for the other, seeing both as necessary for our fulfillment.

We do not recognize any authoritarian hierarchy, but do honor those who teach, respect those who share their greater knowledge and wisdom, and acknowledge those who have courageously given of themselves in leadership.

We see religion, magick and wisdom in living as being united in the way one views the world and lives within it – a world view and philosophy of life which we identify as Witchcraft – the Wiccan Way.

Calling oneself ‘Witch’ does not make a Witch – but neither does heredity itself, nor the collecting of titles, degrees and initiations. A Witch seek to control the forces within her/himself that make life possible in order to live wisely and without harm to others and in harmony with nature.

We believe in the affirmation and fulfillment of life in a continuation of evolution and development of consciousness giving meaning to the Universe we know and our personal role within it.

Our only animosity towards Christianity, or towards any other religion or philosophy of life, is to the extent that its institutions have claimed to be ‘the only way’ and have sought to deny freedom to others and to suppress other ways of religious practice and belief.

As American Witches, we are not threatened by debates on the history of the craft, the origins of various terms, the legitimacy of various aspects of different traditions. We are concerned with our present and our future.

We do not accept the concept of absolute evil, nor do we worship any entity known as ‘Satan’ or ‘the Devil’ as defined by Christian tradition. We do not seek power through the suffering of others, nor accept that personal benefit can be derived only by denial to another.

We believe that we should seek within Nature that which is contributory to our health and well-being. 1

Beliefs among individual Wiccans differ:
bullet Monotheism: Some Wiccans believe that a single creative force exists in the universe, which is sometimes called "The One" or "The All". Little can be known of this force. Other Wiccans -- typically feminists -- worship the Goddess by herself.

bullet Bitheism (a.k.a. Duotheism): Many regard the Goddess and the God as representing the female and male aspects of the All. These deities are not "out there somewhere;" they are immanent in the world. Others regard the God and Goddess as two separate deities, representing the male and female principles.

bullet Polytheism: Many regard the thousand of ancient pagan Gods and Goddesses (Athena, Brigit, Diana, Fergus, Odin, Pan, Zeus, etc.) as representing various aspects of the God and Goddess. The term "Wicca" normally implies that the person's religion is based upon Celtic spiritual concepts, its pantheon of deities, and seasonal days of celebration. Other Neopagans include deities, beliefs, practices and symbols from ancient Pagan religions (e.g. Egyptian, Greek, various mystery religions, Roman, Sumerian) or upon Aboriginal religions (Native American Spirituality, Shamanism).

Pantheism: Some Wiccans believe that the universe is divine and should be revered. Pantheism identifies the universe with God but denies any personality or transcendence of such a God.

bullet Agnosticism: Some Wiccans are actually Agnostics, who take no position on the existence of a supreme being or beings. They often look upon the Goddess and the God as archetypes, based on myth.

bullet Strong Atheism: Some Wiccans are strong Atheists and maintain that no deity exists. They often view the God and Goddess as concepts or principles, not as living entities.

It must be stressed that Wiccans have no supernatural being in their pantheon of deities who resembles the quasi-deity Satan found in Christianity and Islam. This belief was quite common among conservatives of other faiths. It is now fading since so many Wiccans have come out of the closet and gone public with heir faith.

Perhaps the best example of the merger of Pagan and Pantheistic beliefs in popular culture is found in James Cameron's "Avatar" movie. released during 2009-DEC. 4 Ross Douthat, a columnist for the New York Times, commented somewhat unhappily:

" 'Avatar' is Cameron’s long apologia for pantheism — a faith that equates God with Nature, and calls humanity into religious communion with the natural world. ... The Na’Vi [race] are saved by the movie’s hero, a turncoat Marine, but they’re also saved by their faith in Eywa, the 'All Mother,' described variously as a network of energy and the sum total of every living thing. ..."

Other beliefs of Wiccans:
bullet Respect for Nature: Wicca is a natural religion, grounded in concern for the earth. Some Wiccans believe that all living things (including stars, planets, humans, animals, plants, rocks) have a spirit of some type. Many Wiccan rituals deal with bringing harmony and healing to nature. The vast majority of Wiccans share a great concern for the environment.

bullet Gender equality: Wiccans celebrate the sexual polarity of nature. For example, the fertilizing rain is one manifestation of the male principle; the nurturing earth symbolizes the female. Females are respected as equal (and sometimes at a slightly higher rank) to males. In a coven -- a local group of Wiccans -- a priestess is often the most senior person. They aim for a female-male balance in most of their covens (local groups), although men are typically in the minority.

bullet Human sexuality: Sexuality is valued, and regarded as a gift of the Goddess and God, to be engaged in with joy and responsibility, and without manipulation or coercion. Wiccans generally accept the findings of human sexuality researchers that there are three normal, natural, and unchosen sexual orientations: heterosexuality, homosexuality and bisexuality. Some Wiccans celebrate "the Great Rite" which involves ritual sexual intercourse. However, it is consensually performed by a loving, committed couple in private.

bullet Afterlife: Wiccans have a wide range of beliefs about life after death:

bullet Some believe in ancient Celtic legends of a Summerland where souls go after death. Here, they meet with others who have gone before, review and integrate their previous lives on earth, and are eventually reincarnated into the body of a newborn. Some believe that after many such cycles -- perhaps some as female and others as male; some lives with a high standard of living and others in poverty; some in positions of power and others suffering oppression -- that the individual accumulates sufficient experience to go on to another level of existence about which we know nothing.

bullet Some see an individual's consciousness, personality, memory, abilities, talents, etc. as functions of the human brain, which degrades and disintegrates at death. They no not anticipate any form of personal continuity after death.

bullet Other Wiccans anticipate continuity after death in some very narrow senses:

bullet That the molecules that go to make up our bodies may in turn be incorporated in other living entities;

bullet That our influences on children, friends, and society in general will continue to have an impact on the next generations. Even as our influence on each descendent fades in importance with each successive generation, it is spread among a continually increasing number of individuals. And so, the effect of our lives remains constant over time.

bullet Three-fold Law (a.k.a. the Law of Return) The law states that:

"All good that a person does to another returns three fold in this life; harm is also returned three fold."

This belief strongly motivates each Wiccan to avoid attempting to dominate, manipulate, control, or harm another person.
bullet The Wiccan Rede: This is the prime Wiccan ethical teaching. One form is: "A'in it harm none, do what thou wilt." In modern English this may be rendered: "As long as it doesn't harm anyone including yourself and future generations, do whatever you want to." This has been criticized for being too permissive. However, the Rede is actually quite demanding because it requires a Wiccan to carefully evaluate all of the effects that each of their decisions have on themselves, other people, future generations, the environment, etc.

Drunken Man Takes Kansas Gas Truck For A Spin

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Kansas Gas Service worker now has his truck back after police say a drunken man hopped in the driver’s seat and drove off in it.
It happened around 2:15 AM Sunday December 11th in the 1100 block of Ratone Street in Manhattan.

Allen Loberg, a Kansas Gas employee, says he was conducting an overnight call for service on Ratone Street and parked his company truck at the curb. He says he started the white Ford F250 to warm it up and grabbed his tools to continue working. When he heard the $40,000 truck being driven away, he called police and a report was filed.
A short time later at 4 AM, a deputy with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office spotted the stolen truck near the intersection of Hayes Drive and McCall Road, about 15 blocks from where it was stolen.
The man behind the wheel, 20-year-old Charles Melton, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol. Police say Melton was intoxicated. The Riley County Police Department also arrested Melton and charged him with Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

STOP AND THINK.
Gift giving spending having to obtain that prefect gift is not the reason for the season.
The sun is born .the wheel turns once more .we should be grateful for our families not what’s under that tree. sooo dam what, you don’t have a dime to spend on holiday gifts who gives a crap you cant give me a store bought over priced gift . I don’t. its all propaganda to get you to spend money you do not have to spend any ways .why go out in a rush and spend spend spend then get so down and depressed. It just does not make since where in the world did the idea you have to give gifts to every one, because the sun was born ?to give a gift is for special occasions like your Childs birthdays ,not the birth of child in a manger so long ago the only gift he wants is your soul . Start a new tradition put up a tree out side ,decorate it with home made items like bird seed and nuts for the wild life in your area ,and stay up all night and sing and praise the Sun for its returning .but don’t give me a gift I have not earned it or its not my birthday.
Remember the real reason winter solstice is celebrated the return of the Sun to shine warmth down on us during the coldest part of winter just to remind us to open our hearts and homes and share the pervious years harvest with those less fortune now that’s a gift worth giving and receiving.

Grand Father Elishia Jack Wright was born in january of 1892 along a stretch of road known as the Devils promanade located between Oklahoma and Joplin Missouri,he would tell tells of the light , It has gone by many names as it has made it's appearances here in a place called the "Devil's Promenade", but it's most commonly known as the Hornet Spook Light.
The Spooklight, also called the Hornet Spooklight, is a mysterious visual phenomenon allegedly experienced by witnesses in a small area known locally as the "Devil's Promenade" on the border between southwestern Missouri and northeastern Oklahoma west of the small town of Hornet, Missouri.

Despite the fact that it is named after a small, unincorporated community in Missouri from which it is most commonly accessed, the light is most commonly described as being visible from inside the Oklahoma border looking to the west. The Spooklight is commonly described as a single ball of light or a tight grouping of lights that is said to appear in the area regularly, usually at night. Although the description of the light is similar to that of other visual phenomena witnessed throughout the world, the term "Spooklight" when standing alone generally refers to this specific case. Numerous legends exist that attempt to describe the origin of the Spooklight, one of which involves the ghosts of two young Native American lovers looking for each other.
According to most accounts, it has appeared continually since the late 19th Century,[1] although it was generally not well known to anyone but locals until after World War II. Some date the first encounters with the light back to the Trail of Tears in the 1830s. However, the first documented sighting is generally accepted to have occurred in 1881, although some report sightings as far back as 1866.

The Story Tellers: We are the chosen ones.

My feelings are that in each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors, to put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.

To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called as it were by our genes.

Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story! So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors you have a wonderful family? You would be proud of us! How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say.

It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference, and saying I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it.

It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.

It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are them and they are us.

So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take their place in the long line of family storytellers.

That, is why I do my family genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and put flesh on the bones.

Moved to Sabetha

We have sold the House and moved to Sabetha Kansas.
Bill and Denise sold their house in Axtell ,and bought a house on 13th st .so i have our grand kids right around the block from us,it is wonderful to have the grand kids so close,we love it.

lunar Eclipse for Yule this year .

It has been a while since I last posted on this here blog. so I thought I would update you on the Eclipse
On December 21, 2010, we have the potent power of a Full Lunar Eclipse combined with Yule. The following are merely suggestions to spark your creativity . Remember that doing a ritual or spell “just because there is an eclipse” is like writing a grocery list “just because you have a pencil”…the idea is to perform the ritual or magic because of the goal
What I have in mind for this special time is as fallows .
Remember that a spell written by another is just words on paper and should never be used by another .for you know not my intent as I write my spells each witch should write her own that comes from with in that witch. Use others as a guide line but do not use that witch is not yours. We may walk the same direction even hold hands but you can not know my true intensions for you do not walk my path only I can walk my own path.
With that said lets continue on.
I’ll start with a Green Altar Cloth for the aspects of calm, regeneration, health, perseverance, nature, endurance, abundance
incense of sandalwood and frankincense
Candle colors black for the death of winter .white For , Maiden red for the Mother, and silver for the Crone Goddess. gold for the newly born sun. OR you can use any Candle you choice in any color just charge it with the right intent of use.
Have some paper handy to write on the items you want to banish from you .light and add to your cauldron at the point in your ritual.
the ashes from the cauldron should be buried as you bid farewell to old, destructive habits and obstacles.
Other items you could have on your Altar are spring water for blessings potting soil the list is end less for this Yule season, try to come up with what speaks to you.

I did not Write this Goddess Blessing it was sent to me by a friend .but I will incorporate it in to my Yule blessing of this year. As a invocation to the Goddess.
A invocation you can reuse speak the words with your own intent but as far as a spell goes I would not recommend using some one else’s I can not stress this point enough. I just came to a epiphany if I do not post my spells then they will not be reused so I will not share that part of my Ritual.

Upon this eve of longest night, the dark gives way unto the light
Upon this Yuletide Eve we’ll see, the Maiden, Mother, Crone…all Three;
in all Their glory They shall mix, the day of this Lunar Eclipse.
Triple Goddess shown unto me, triple strength and potency!

Bountiful blessings I send to those, who’ve lost all faith and struggled most;
The Earth recovered from our misuse, wildlife replenished from our abuse,
Within each heart and soul plus mine, the precious gifts of the Divine!
To all I conjure harmony, enlightenment, and inner peace…
God and Goddess so Divine, all negatives are left behind,

The craft ill be working on in my ritual is

Bird Suet

(British Clolumbia/Lone Butte/Canada)
-1 cup of lard
-1 cup of peanut butter
-1 cup of cornmeal
-1 cup of rolled oats
-1 cup of wild birdseed

-Cream the lard and peanut butter together. Add the other ingredients and mix well. Apply to pine cone or to a wooden bird feeder.

So this is what ill be doing for the lunar Eclipse no its not a step by step guide to how a witch does ritual sorry to burst your bubble. Just a lil Yule tide blessing I would like to share. So merry meet and merry part till we read the next post. MERRY YULE LUNAR ECLISPE

Camping with a pair of OWLS

Vern and I tock Victoria Elli Jessy and Pearl camping over the weekend .
The kids had a good time Fishing and was mesmerized with a pair of barn owls that favored our camp.
And blessed us with their presents the whole weekend

This owl raided our camp and sit next to our camp fire for a few hours sat on the ground 4 feet from me for a few hours it never moved even when I got up and added a log to the fire.

I have never had such enjoyment as this owl gave me ,trusting me not to harm her she was so gorges and seemed very nosy to the going on of the camp.

MUDDY SATURDAY

Jessy wiped out he fell off into a big mud hole .then got right back on . Pearl and Elli Jessy was mud from head to toe Victoria she had a little mud on her feet.yes all where SMILES.the pictures say it all .

The joy of grand parenting

The joy of three grand babies is knowing they want to spend time with the old folks .
The grand daughter on the other hand is growing up and has friends of her own she doesn’t spend that much time at grandma and grandpa’s

I miss those days when she wanted her grandma.

When grandma and grandpa was top dog in her books.

They grow up so fast.
She was five when we got the donkey she named it Eeeore .

She loved that old mule the mule is genteel and kind but then he had to go live with Uncle Frank do to illness I could no longer take care of him. So they still get to go visit him out on the hill.
(YES we spoil our grandkids )

Now that she has turned 10 going on 26 she has other interest she has lots of friends she bike rides with and birthday parties invitations ,she still comes over for a occasional weekend. If she can fit it in.
She is down south visiting my side her cousins she is staying with my sister Becky /for two weeks .
I called her a few days ago to see what she was upto mainly to see if she was home sick ,she was not she was playing with Maddy and Katie and Creio haven girl time fun.can't wait to hear all about it when she gets home.

Grandma is missing her Vicky.

When she gets home after a week or two we will go out to the lake and do some camping she loves to camp and hike. And go fishing.

The point to this article is enjoy them while they are young when they have time for the grand parents before they grow up and start to have a life of their own imprint your legacy make a difference in their youth.
Do not let the impressionable years pass you by.
