The classic French line, Petit Bateau, is known for their affordable cotton basics for kids and adults alike. Their t-shirts are so perfectly cut and well made that they have acquired a bit of a cult following. They have recently revamped their women’s wear line to include some edgy, sexy styles like bodysuits, rompers and high-waisted briefs to appeal to a more fashionable demographic. We are positively thrilled to have a new option for everyday boyshorts and soft cotton bralettes in the $12-25 range, as well as saucy sets like the oh-so-cute Milleraies striped group with red ribbon trim. Get them while they’re hot!

By now, I’m sure you know about Molly Maine’s show tonight, but I just wanted to reiterate that it will be AMAZING! The tiny pictures I’ve been posting of her work can hardly do it justice, so you’ll need to see for yourself how vast and impressive they are. Influenced by the subtractive process in intaglio, where a printer teases out the shades of figures from a completely dark plate, Molly develops paintings in which incomplete portions of birds and feathers penetrate, emerge from and are obscured by a Northern Renaissance-inspired glazed black background. This exhibition will showcase her most recent work, which was inspired by Yeats’ “Meditations in Time of Civil War.” Hope to see you tonight!

Quantities are limited, of course, so you’ll want to arrive early to get first dibs!

We just received our Fall shipment of AK Vintage jewelry, and not a moment too soon! Our display case was looking a little barren, but now it’s full of lovely pendants and earrings from local sweetheart, Anna Korte. Anna uses authentic vintage brass components and recycled leather in her modern designs, which are named after her favorite literary works. This season is inspired by the American poet, architect and general freethinker, R. Buckminster Fuller. This Friday, we’ll be holding a joint trunk show with Anna and Gretchen Jones of Moth Love during our monthly art exhibit. Stay tuned for more info on the event….

It’s that time of year again, ladies, and I’m terribly sad to report that my Halloween planning was significantly curtailed by my preparations for Content ‘09. I had every intention to hold a big Mad-Men-themed costume party, swaddle my house in cobwebs and blog extensively about this, my favorite holiday of the year. But, alas, here we are, just one day shy of the big event, and I don’t even have a costume! Sigh. No matter. I can still provide you with an exhaustive list of lingerie-centric costume ideas. AND I can give you 15% off if you come to Lille in costume tomorrow. It’s the least I can do for being such a slacker this year….

1. I’m not even going to go into the obligatory “Sexy-Fill-in-the-Blank” costume category. You can figure out for yourself how to put that one together. If you’re clever like my dear friend Crystal, you can put an amusing feminist spin on the whole genre by going as something as incongruous as “Jeff Foxyworthy” (a sexy Jeff Foxworthy.)

2.1930’s Showgirl – This is a relatively easy costume, since all you really need is a whole lot of confidence! It’s all in the accessories: think sequins, feathers and a ton of make-up! Alternatively, you could purchase my Black Canary showgirl costume if you want a sleeker, more finished look.

3. Mad Men’s Joanie – Head to your nearest thrift store and buy a 50s/60s era dress in 2-3 sizes too big for you (nip the waist in with some safety pins, if necessary.) Now revisit your middle school nightmare and stuff that retro contour bra, baby! The bigger, the better, as you’re going for hyperbole.

4. Blood-soaked Sissy Spacek in Carrie – Any sheer, floatie slip will do, but you certainly wouldn’t want to use a silk Erica Tanov version, since you’re just going to drench it in fake blood.

5. Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby – Always a classic, this costume just requires baby blue pjs and short, blond hair. Bonus points for pushing around an old cradle with a demon baby in it.

If none of these ideas resonates with you, please feel free to reference my ‘08 list, which can be found here. Happy Halloween!

Thanks to everyone who made it out to Content last night – attendees, models, coordinators, designers et al! The event was a big success, with extraordinary transformations occurring in nearly every room on the second floor of the Ace Hotel. I was proud to be a part of such a unique and creative exhibition, showing a few Gatsby pieces in a shared room with Elizabeth Dye. We both decided to give in to the spectacle and have fun with our designs this time around, so our concept was Backstage at the Follies in the 1930s. Antique compacts, perfume bottles, and mirrors decorated our dressing table, and our lovely showgirls practiced their splits and high kicks to a Mistinguett soundtrack while Busby Berkeley films played on the screen. Click below to see more photos!

We are very pleased to report that we have received a big shipment of the Wundervoll Essentials Collection, which is basically the line of garments they launched the brand with. When you get it right the first time, it’s important to stay the course, and while the new Fall/Winter collection is spectacular, with stunning architectural lines and beautiful colors, we did receive a ton of requests for the old standbys – perfect everyday silk bralettes like the Overtone, Boom-Chick-A-Boom and Boogie Bras, as well as the amazing Boogie Briefs pictured above. WWD featured them in Crystal Grey a few months ago, and we’re so happy we were able to get a few pair – they have such a fun ‘Anchors Away’ vibe. Three cheers to Wundervoll for accommodating our reorder!

We received a small shipment of some truly exquisite bras and panties from Nina Ricci. With elegant details like dual silk straps and satin ribbon trim, the ivory and blush embroidered lace sets would make the perfect trousseau set for some lucky bride-to-be. My personal favorite, however, is the intense Fuchsia Crocus Balconette Bra pictured above- such a great cut in the perfect color for the season! Might have to snap that one up for myself. (The price point is high, of course, so if you’re on a budget, I’d say go for the Namos set by Jenna Leigh in a similar shade of purple.)
