Review: One n Only Argan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

Let's see, how did I find this stuff? I was either browsing on MakeupAlley for a good shampoo and conditioner for my hair type (fine hair, but a lot of it, chemically relaxed, somewhat course in its natural state, dry, dull) OR I was already at Sally's, found this product, and did a quick MakeupAlley search. Either way I do believe I owe a large thanks to the ladies at MakeupAlley for helping me to find my Holy Grail shampoo and conditioner.

Let me give you a quick background of my hair. I have a lot of hair, but it's fine. I am a woman of color, so my hair in its natural state is A BIT coarse. I use the word "coarse"loosely because it's really not that course, just kind of kinky curly. I am not fond of my natural hair, so I get it chemically relaxed. Chemically relaxing your hair is, as all things we LOVE to do to our hair, damaging and not good. But I do it anyway. In addition to chemically relaxing my hair, or perhaps, as an effect of chemically relaxing my hair, my hair was dull. Like, no matter what I did, I could NOT for the life of me get my hair to be shiny without making it greasy! And because my hair is so fine, greasy hair just was NOT working for me. My poor hair was also dry as hell from blowdrying, straightening, and of course, the weather. I've always loved the beach and swimming, but never took care of my hair the way I should.

In the past, I have used Pantene (which I hate), Garnier (which just didn't do it for me), Neutrogena (which smelled like plastic), Proclaim Argan Oil (which, was previously a favorite in June, but prolonged use proved me wrong) and Dove (which I of course loved more than anything in the world). I still love Dove and would still recommend it. However, I think I just wanted a change. Which, if you know me, know is very common.

I really wanted to try this whole Argan Oil hype so I looked for a shampoo/conditioner with Argan Oil in it. The shampoo got some pretty great reviews on Makeupalley, so I bought it. Along with the Conditioner, Spray Treatment, Oil Treatment, and Hydrating Mask. But that's another blog post.

**The reason why the bottle on the right (the shampoo) is pink is because it was leftover from the October inventory. In October, the bottles are pink in honor of Breast Cancer Appreciation month! The normal bottles look like the one on the left (the conditioner).

The first time I used the shampoo, I didn't know what to expect, but I know that I DID expect a huge lather like previous shampoos. There was no huge lather and the smell was different. Not different in a bad way, but different in a natural, beachy california girl kind of way. It's definitely fresh and clean, I was just used to the harsh detergent smelling shampoos that (let's face it) we love. This scent was much more demure and, I have to admit, it grew on me. I shampooed twice as per usual and rinsed and proceeded on to conditioner. Before the conditioner, I noticed my hair was much less tangled than usual. In fact, there were virtually NO tangles which was a first for me. Other shampoos would leave my hair a striped down tangly mess! You can imagine how happy I was! Conditioner was just the icing on the cake. I put it in and went about my regular shower routine. When I rinsed it out, my hair was NOT tangled at all. It was smooth, didn't feel striped of all moisture, and soft! No other shampoo/conditioner ever made my hair feel the way this stuff does. I mean it says on the bottle that it detangles, but I've used so many "detangling" products before, that I was not simply going to take this product at its word and believe it straight off the bat. THIS STUFF DETANGLES like a dream. I mean I really do not have enough AMAZING things to say about this stuff.

As far as repairing damage, my hair has been noticeably healthier. It's shiny, it's moisturized, it's not greasy or weighed down. it's straight up amazing. Even the ends of my hair feel healthy. I started using this shampoo and conditioner BEFORE I discovered the Macadamia Natural Oil products so I know this shampoo and conditioner was responsible for at least kick starting my healthy hair kick. Even my hair stylist said my hair was very strong, which was the cherry on top.

All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this shampoo and conditioner. You can buy it at Sally's. They cost $9.49 each. ($8.49 online if you have a Sally's card!) I've been using this since October and have repurchased many times. LOVE it.

2011 was an AMAZING year as far as beauty and health goes for me. I found my HG (Holy Grail) hair products and my hair has been in the BEST shape ever. Healthier than ever before. Shinier than ever before. Just overall amazing. Also, I found some great Drugstore mascaras (so now I can give my wallet a break!) and my favorite foundation ever! 2011 was also a big year for me in terms of skincare and I'm SO happy with my current skincare products! As far as health is concerned, I feel better than ever and I am a true believer in taking care of your insides so you can be beautiful on the outside! Hello all you lovely people out there! It has been SO long since I have updated this blog! I got really tied up with school which I'm sure you all understand but now I am pretty much DONE with college just have ONE more class to take which I will most likely take in Spring. SO I have a lot of time on my hands now that I'm not nose deep in textbooks and burning out my keyboard typing papers! I cannot explain how excited I am to be back in action! First of all, let me just say this whole line of products is AMAZING because they ALL do EXACTLY what they say. This shampoo does not strip my hair unlike other shampoos I have tried in the past. It also detangles which is a super plus!

Proclaim Professional Care with Argan Oil from Morocco Intense Moisturizing Conditioner

Does everything a conditioner should do. Don't know what else to say! Detangles, conditions, and leaves my hair SO soft!

Proclaim Professional Care with Argan Oil from Morocco Intense Hydrating Masque

Deep conditioner. This stuff is AMAZING. I use it every sunday! Process goes a little something like this: wash hair in shower as usual. When I get out, I towel dry my hair, liberally apply this deep conditioning masque, comb thru hair with a wide tooth comb, put a disposable plastic shower cap on my head, leave on while I clean the apartment. (about 4 hours or so. I'm kind of a maniac when it comes to cleaning, but you can leave it on for however long you want) After cleaning is done, hop in the shower again to wash off the cleaning smell and rinse my hair :)

Proclaim Professional Care with Argan Oil from Morocco Hair Oil Treatment

LOVE this stuff for the ends of my hair and as a general all over treatment for my hair. AMAZING. Especially when I straighten my hair, I add this to the ends of my hair after I straighten it while it's still warm, ahhh my hair looks brand new!

Proclaim Professional Care with Argan Oil from Morocco Natural 7 Oil

This is for hair, scalp, bath, massage, manicures, and hot oil treatments. 100% Vegan and Paraben free. Love, Love, Love. I use this on my legs after shaving, on my scalp for scalp massages before I wash it, with the deep conditioning masque, UGH it's just amazing.

Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-In Smoothing Cream (with Weightless Nutri-Oils)

I love the Shampoo and Conditioner from this line too. This Leave In Cream is so good! It smells delicious and it really does control frizz! AND it really is weightless. Perfecto!

Secret Natural Mineral Deodorant in Lemongrass Mint

Don't let the name throw you off. This smells SO good. Fresh x's 10000000! The mint is EXTREMELY subtle and to be honest, you can't even smell it unless you SNIFF the deodorant. The mint is just there to keep you fresh. Keeps me dry and smelling goooood!

Vaseline Aloe Fresh Hydrating Lotion

Non sticky. Cooling. Moisturizing. PERFECT for summer. Probably not so much for colder months but we'll deal with that when the time comes.

Gold Bond Ultimate Comfort Body Powder with Aloe (100% talc FREE!)

Smells nice and fresh! Keeps me DRY in this hot and humid weather! Life saver. Even have a travel size in my purse! It's 100% TALC FREE. Sold.

Neutrogena Ageless Essentials Continuous Hydration Night Cream

So moisturizing that I actually have to take a break from it sometimes! LOVE it though. I like it a lot more than my previous night cream which was Night of Olay.

Maybelline One by One Mascara

Possibly the best drugstore mascara in my opinion. And I've tried almost ALL of them. I know everyone swears by L'Oreal Voluminous BUT I don't. This mascara separated and lifted, which I have the BIGGEST problem with. Wet mascara's weigh my eyelashes down. This one wasn't extremely wet and got better as I used it up. It's like fine wine. Haha but seriously, I have found my HOLY GRAIL drugstore mascara. This is replacing my Lancome Hypnose Drama for a while. Lancome can be a little pressing on the pockets if you know what I mean. $$$

So THIS is what relaxing feels like?! Oh boy have I been missing out! SUPER apologies for going completely MIA on both my blog and youtube. This trimester in school was honestly insane. Im now on summer vacation BUT it's not really summer vacation because I'm doing my internship!

YAY!

It's 9-5 though and Monday-Friday so I'll definitely have time to do more blog posts and videos. My goal right now is at least one video/post per week. I still have to do my internship project so I don't exactly want to get carried away in setting goals.

mark. That’s Deep Purifying Gel Cleanser – LOVE for deep cleaning once a week. I even used this one day during finals week when I took a nap in my makeup. Gives a lovely tingly deep clean feeling
mark. Breakout Plan moisturizer – I’ve only been using this on my forehead because that’s my problem area, and it’s helped tremendously. Even more than ProActiv
Vaseline Cocoa Butter lotion - I love this because it’s so moisturizing yet it’s not the least bit greasy. I cannot stand greasy lotions.

Hair:

Garnier Fructis Triple Action hairspray – As you can tell from the picture lol I LOVE this stuff! So lightweight yet so moisturizing! PLUS it gives shine and detangles. Just makes hair more manageable in general.
Tea Tree oil – love this because for some STRANGE reason, no matter what I do, my scalp is dry. This helps with dryness and any possible flakiness that might result from the dryness.

Makeup:

mark. blush in Urban Glo – love this because it gives my skin a sun kissed look. it’s like a coral bronze color.
MAC MSFN – yes I’m back to this! I just use this to even out my skintone seeing as how I don’t wear actual liquid foundation anymore. Never looks to cakey; always looks natural.
mark. Good Riddance concealer – creamy concealer that I use to even out dark spots and conceal any scarring
Too Faced Shadow Insurance – Well I live in South Florida so it’s averaging 80 degrees during the day and I don’t like to worry about my shadows moving around or anything so this is great. It’s easier to blend shadows with TFSI rather than UDPP in my opinion…
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Rockstar – not quite black, not quite maroon so it’s perfect for me. I hate the harshness of black during the day and I like to keep my liner neutral while at school.
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Rosy Nude – OMG the PERFECT nude lipstick for me! I just dab it on and it makes my lips have that “just bitten” natural look. Will repurchase OVER and OVER.
L’Oreal Gentle Lip Conditioner in Soft Mica – I bought this one and another lip conditioner on sale and actually thought that I wouldn’t like this one as much but as it turns out its my favorite!! It’s a light pinky color and its incredibly sheer. I use it as a natural looking gloss rather than a lip conditioner
Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate – love this lately because the weather is really warming up so I love doing a fresh face and a nice soft color on the lips. Perfect because this is conditioning as well!
Nivea A Kiss of Recovery – I choose this lip balm over ANY OTHER lip balm. EVER. Even that EOS that everyone is sooo obsessed with.

JUST when I thought life was DONE throwing me curve balls, not only do I get one curve ball, I get like 10 million curve balls. or 10 million lemons if you prefer. but, from this I learned that life is never really "done" throwing you curve balls. ever. Okay.

Now that I'm back in school and have my schedule/breaks all organized/timed, because yes I am a freak like that, I can start blogging again.

And the first thing I would like to say is...I go through phases with makeup. Love this, hate that type of phases. Well, I'm LOVING Bare Escentuals foundation right now. LOVING. So I guess this month would be LOVE Bare Escentuals foundation, hate eyeshadow. Now I obviously don't hate eyeshadow but lately I just dont find myself reaching for it...for whatever reason...

I've always been obsessed with mascara and eyeliner so of course those are still in. I'm currently using my first Lancome mascara... Hypnose Drama...I've just never been drawn to Lancome mascaras but I must say it's pretty good. I just wish it was lenghthening! It's thickening for sure and makes my lashes super black...but my search for the PERFECT lengthening mascara continues.

So anyway THERE is my quick update. Still selling mark. and still LOVING the brand.

Now off to draft some posts.

The quality of these pictures without flash SUCKS. waaaahhhh *snookie cry* haha who watches Jersey Shore? They filmed this season in my city! Miami! I partied with them and let me tell you, everyone looks the same except for The Situation. He looks much older in person. Like, 40. LOL not kidding. And yes, Pauly D’s hair is weather proof and he is gorgeous. And pretty humble I must say.

PEACHY! When I take pictures of my OOTD in front of the long mirror, I literally take at least 5 pictures because they’re so blurry. booooo.

Ahhhh, the end of the school week. hair’s up, room’s a mess…lol this is very typical of a thursday. Thursday’s are my “rest” days and Fridays are my “regroup” days.

Shampoo/Conditioner: Tresseme Curl Moisturizing Shampoo/Conditioner

Styling products: Dove Daily Moisture Therapy Replenishing Mist. Like I’ve been saying, this is the HG. This is the only thing I use on my hair.

Shower Gel: Dove Go Fresh Burst body wash with nectarine and white ginger. yummm

Body moisturizer: Daisy by Marc Jacobs illuminating lotion. smells fab and perfect amount of shimmer for summer

Deodorant: Secret Flawless still. Original clean

Fake Tan: Not me. I’m naturally brown. :)

Cleanser: Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin with Aloe. New HG!

Exfoliator: mark. go with the grain exfoliating beads

Moisturizer: Olay Complete Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin or mark. see things clearly brightening moisturizer

Primer: I don’t use it often, but my all time favorite is Korres. However, I’ve been using Smashbox and I think it breaks me out. :(

Foundation brush: My hands! I’ve found that my hands really do give THEE best application with my Revlon Colorstay. If you don’t believe me, try it! Different types of foundations all have different applications for the best finish in my opinion. Every foundation isn’t the same so you can’t treat them all the same.

Concealer: TheBalm Time Balm Concealer in Medium and Benefit Powderflage. Although I recently just purchased Revlon Age Defying Moisturizing Concealer and REpurchased Revlon Age Defying Spa concealer. Both in medium. So I will be testing the moisturizing concealer. I repurchased the spa concealer because I used this last summer and it brightened up my eye beautifully. PLUS Revlon is BOGO 50% off at CVS right now. :)

Powder: mark. matte-nificint oil absorbing powder in golden honey

Blusher: all of the mark. good glowing blushes! but ESPECIALLY after glow. great dupe for NARS Orgasm at just $7!

Bronzer: just not a bronzer type of gal!

Highlighter: Too Faced Snow Bunny bronzer

Eyeshadow base: Either UDPP or TFSI. Lately, its been TFSI

Eyeshadows: mark. eyeshadows. I don’t have any pictures but you can check out all my mark. haul videos. There’s 3 videos.

Eyeliner: Bonnebell Eye Definer in Black Ink for the waterline and/or Smashbox cream eyeliners

Curler: Tweezerman

Mascara: L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen or mark. Scandalash

Lipstick: NEVER use…I just really don’t like too much crap on my lips. they’re naturally nicely pigmented and I wear makeup to enhance beauty not make me look like a totally different person. So if I do wear color on my lips, it’s mark. Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain. So freaking perfect for me it’s not even funny. It’s RARE that I say a cosmetic company had me in mind when making an item (Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Nude Lustre made that for me) but these lipstains are such gorgeous colors and have a tiny bit of gloss in them which is PERFECT! And once the gloss wears off, the stain is still on so it looks more natural than a lipstick or lipgloss or a combination of the two would look. I see right now I’m going to have to do a post on these lol

Lipgloss: Revlon Super Lustrous in Nude Lustre –HG! I’ve found quite a few HG products this summer!

Nail Color: OPI “Chapel of Love” with glitter on top! I call it the “Barbie Manicure”
