❤️ 32 Years Later… Larry, Your Legacy Lives On.

Today marks 32 years since the passing of a man from my childhood who truly changed the trajectory of my life. I saw his brother's remembrance today, and I couldn't let the day pass without honoring someone who meant so much to me.

Larry was the son of my mom's best friend, Miss Nina, but he became so much more than a family friend. He became one of the most influential people in my life.

And oh, if you knew Larry, you KNOW! 😂 The sass, the style, the fabulousness! That man was a DIVA, had absolutely NO filter, and didn't sugarcoat a damn thing! I loved every bit of him.

I experienced a lot of tragedy growing up, and by my teenage years, I was heading down a pretty rough road. I was angry, lost, and making choices that could've changed my life for the worse.

But Larry wasn't having ANY of it! 😂 He believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. He challenged me, held me accountable, and loved me enough to tell me exactly what I needed to hear.

I genuinely believe Larry saved my life. He certainly changed the direction of it.

Even when he was terribly sick, he showed up for my high school graduation. That was Larry. He showed up when it mattered. ❤️

And when the time came for him to leave this world, I was right there holding his hand. I told him it was okay to go, that I would be all right. And because of everything he'd taught me, I knew I would be. That's a moment I'll carry in my heart forever.

Some people judged him for being different, but they missed out on knowing an extraordinary human being. Larry lived unapologetically, loved fiercely, and left a legacy that no judgment or stereotype could ever diminish.

32 years later, I still hear his voice, remember his lessons, and smile thinking about that larger-than-life personality.

A person's legacy isn't defined by how they died, but by how they lived, how they loved, and whose lives they changed along the way.

Larry, I'm living proof of the difference you made. I'll love you, honor you, and carry a little of your fabulous sass with me for the rest of my life! 😂❤️🕊️

This year, we're bringing a little horror to the dinner table with Bloody BBQ Monster Legs!

And before anybody panics, relax. They're chicken drumsticks. We're not out here hunting monsters in the backyard. Although, with grocery prices these days, I wouldn't completely rule it out. 😂

These little beauties are smoky, sweet, sticky, and covered in a rich, blood-red barbecue glaze that'll have everyone licking their fingers like they just escaped a haunted house.

The best part? They're ridiculously easy to make. No bubbling cauldron, no mysterious ingredients, and absolutely no culinary degree required!

🧙‍♀️ The Witch's Shopping List

For the monster legs:

8–10 chicken drumsticks
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt

For the bloody delicious BBQ glaze:

1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1–2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional, for those who like a little fire with their fright!)

For the spooky presentation:

Black sesame seeds (optional)
A black serving platter
Halloween-themed food picks or decorations
Extra barbecue sauce for dipping

🔪 Let's Get Cooking, My Little Monsters!

Step 1: Wake Up the Oven! 🔥

Preheat your oven to 425°F.

There's something beautiful about going to bed knowing you haven't intentionally hurt, manipulated, used, or betrayed anybody.

No secret agendas, no keeping track of lies, and no worrying about which version of the story you told to whom. Whew, that sounds exhausting! 😂

I've learned that having a clear conscience is worth more than winning an argument, getting revenge, or proving somebody wrong.

Now, does that mean I'm perfect? Absolutely not! I've made mistakes, said things I shouldn't have, and probably rolled my eyes a few thousand times when I should've kept them closed. 🙄😂

But there's a big difference between being imperfect and being intentionally cruel.

And here's the funny thing about people who spend their time plotting against others... they may fool the world, but they still have to live with themselves.

Me? I'm choosing honesty, kindness, a clear conscience, and eight hours of sleep. Well, let's be realistic... at 50, I'll take four uninterrupted hours without a hot flash and call it a miracle! 🔥🤣

Because at the end of the day, peace isn't about having a perfect life. It's about knowing you're not deliberately making someone else's miserable. ❤️

At this age, I'm not playing detective with anybody's weird energy, hidden jealousy, or questionable intentions. I'm 50, not auditioning for CSI: Toxic People. 😂

If something feels off, I pay attention. I don't need screenshots, witness statements, or a full-blown investigation to figure out why someone's energy suddenly changed.

And here's something I've learned: Not every red flag needs a confrontation, and not every person deserves an explanation. Sometimes the healthiest response is to smile, wish them well, and quietly remove yourself.

I've reached that beautiful stage of life where protecting my peace matters more than proving my point. ❤️

No drama. No announcements. No lengthy goodbye speeches. Just a little distance and a whole lot of peace.

Because, sweetheart, my intuition doesn't need a committee meeting to make a decision. 😂💅

And let's be clear... walking away isn't always about having an attitude. Sometimes it's simply having standards. 😉❤️

You know what's funny? We spend so much time talking about what makes someone attractive, but some of the ugliest things about a person have absolutely nothing to do with what they look like.

You can have the prettiest face, the nicest clothes, and a smile that lights up a room… but if you're dishonest, manipulative, jealous, or enjoy hurting people, none of that means a thing.

Real beauty is in how you treat people, especially when there's nothing in it for you. ❤️

And let's be clear, nobody's perfect. We all have our moments, say things we shouldn't, and make mistakes. The difference is having enough self-awareness to own your behavior, apologize when you're wrong, and actually try to do better.

Some people, though? Whew. They'll lie straight to your face, play the victim when they're called out, and somehow convince themselves they're the one who deserves an apology. The mental gymnastics deserve an Olympic medal. 🥇🙄😂

As I've gotten older, I've learned to pay less attention to what people say about themselves and more attention to how they consistently treat others.

Because kindness, honesty, accountability, and a good heart will always be more attractive than a pretty face.

You can fix your hair, change your clothes, and filter every picture you post… but there's no beauty filter for an ugly character. 💯❤️

And that's a kind of ugly no amount of makeup can cover. 💋

You know what's funny about getting older? You start realizing just how much your personality depends on the company you keep. 😂

Some people bring out the absolute best in you. They make you laugh until your stomach hurts, encourage you, support you, and leave you feeling lighter than when you arrived. Those are my kind of people! ❤️

And then there are the others. Bless their hearts. 🙄🤣

The ones who can take your peaceful, coffee-sipping, minding-my-own-business self and somehow have you mentally flipping through a dictionary of words you haven't used since your twenties.

And the really talented ones? They can accomplish this before you've even finished your first cup of coffee! ☕😂

But here's something I've learned over the years: Not everyone deserves access to every version of you.

Surround yourself with people who bring out your laughter, your kindness, your confidence, and your happiness. People who celebrate your wins, respect your boundaries, and don't make every interaction feel like an unpaid therapy session.

And when someone consistently brings out a version of you that you don't particularly like? Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is love them from a distance.

Because protecting your peace doesn't mean you've lost your backbone. It means you've learned when something simply isn't worth your energy.

At 50, I'm all about good vibes, genuine people, belly laughs, and keeping my blood pressure where it belongs. ❤️

But don't get it twisted. That vocabulary is still in there somewhere. I'm just trying not to give it a reason to come out and play! 🤣💅
