Sorry if I have been so MIA lately. I've actually been using my tumblr, more and more. But, I like to blog on here sometimes.

A lot interesting things have been going on. I find myself spending more time at my church and not hanging out with my friends from college. Which isn't a bad thing... LONG story there.

Anyways. For the longest time, it has been hard for me to deal with the fact that three of my best friends are a couple years younger than I am. I thought there was something wrong with me, or that I was immaturing. But, these girls are much more mature than most. So, meet some of my best friends.

I won't give you their names, because let's face it: there could be some creepy stalkers out there. These girls make me want to be a better person. They are my rocks. I swear, don't be surprised if you see them in my wedding party as my bridesmaids. It will happen.

Hey all! I'm so sorry that I have been so MIA. I don't like that I am. Seriously, I don't like it. Right now, I really need to focus on school right now. So, the blogging will be on hold for the time being. However, you can check out my tumblr if you are in the need of reading anything that I write or find interesting. Lent and such.

Lent is one of the crazy things where I understand it and I don't. When we were young we were told to give up something. This could have been anything from giving up sweets to not watching as much TV. I was never really good at any of that when I was younger. I would think about giving up chocolate for Lent and then the next week some birthday party would come along and there would be chocolate cake and then I would just have one because everyone else was. When I was in high school it was the same. Except, now going to a Catholic school that meant giving up meat for lunches since that's what the Catholics did. Oh how I was deprived of my friday pepperoni pizza! Just kidding. Although, sometimes I would want it.

Last year, I decided to give up Facebook for Lent. So many of my friends thought that I couldn't do it. In high school I was voted most likely to start a Facebook group for our class. In fact, one of the religion teachers told people in my class to vote for me because she knew I was always on there! I didn't even have to campaign. That's how much I was on Facebook. Now, I'm not going to go on a rant about Facebook.

But, giving up Facebook for Lent last year and actually following through with it made me change my whole perspective of Lent. Lent was seen as something that we should give up. But it can be about committing to something. When I gave up Facebook for Lent I was also committing to something. I was one: committing to prove my friends wrong and two: committing to taking out something that is basically a "time-waster". After I gave it up, I was so happy. So many of my friends were shocked and honestly thought that I wasn't going to make it. I remember thinking "I survived Lent". But, Lent should be a time of reflections and commitments.

This year, I decided to forgo giving up Facebook and committing to two things: prayer and getting my license. Well, so far it has been interesting. I am praying more or at least trying to be conscious about it. I'm finding different ways of praying. At first, the prayers were always about me like "please God, let me get an A on this test" or "God I'm really struggling with some things right now and I really need your help". It later turned on to praying for friends of mine who are dealing with things.

Then, my friend Anthony told me that what he does is in that little corner on Facebook where it tells you about new possible friends or connecting with someone to pray for them instead of crossing their name out. So now, that's what I do. Growing up in Christian schools my whole life we always learned how to pray. I really don't think that there's a "right" way to pray. I always heard that prayer is a conversation with God. And the more and more my Lenten journey moves towards the end, I am realizing that prayer really is a conversation with God.

As for getting my license. I'm trying to work on that. I don't think that I will get it by the end of Lent but hopefully soon after. I went behind the wheel a couple of weeks ago with my dad and I wasn't that bad. But, we'll see how that goes.

There's one thing that I'm adding to my Lenten list: being more genuine. In high school I would be nice to people, but I would really be nice. If that makes sense at all. I would only be nice to some people sometimes because I knew I could get something out of them. Wow, that sounds so mean. Hopefully, you all have been there sometime in your life doing that and you know what I am talking about. So, from now on, I am going to be sincere with the people and things that I do.

Lent for me is a time now of considerations, commitments, challenges and reflection. I hope you consider that is well. But know that Lent for everyone and even being Christian like is different for everyone.

I am seriously no Patti Stanger. For poeple who don't know who that is, she's the star of the show "Millionaire Matchmaker" who pairs millionaires up with either another millionaire or someone who is genuine.

I don't know what it is, but all, well not all, but some of my guy friends think that I'm a matchmaker. Two of my guy friends went through my Facebook friends and asked me about girls that they thought were cute. Another one got mad and asked me why I never set a girl that he thought was cute up with him. Well, guys let me tell you this: not girls are matchmakers. And if we do decide to take part in matchmaking, we thoroughly think it through. Or at least I do. I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoy thinking about some of my friends getting together, but

I'm serious guys... don't assume that girls are always going to pair you up. When I think of a perfect girl for my guy friend or vice-versa, I will let you know. And honestly, it shows that your desperate. It's hard having your best guy friend get over a girl that he dated for years, always asking you of someone that he can pair you up with. Or my other friend, who quite frankly is more of a family acquaintance now, asking me who a girl is and WHEN I can set him up with said friend. Ugh. I'm sorry.

This all just annoyed me and I had to get it out. But, basically what I am trying to say is guys: when you ask you girl friend(s) to pair you up with someone all the time it just shows that you are flat out desperate and it might even question our friendship with you.

It's Catching Up With Me Again...

School is slowly taking my life over again. What a surprise! Yesterday, I had a Child Development test, which I think I did just fine in, but seriously, I'm at the point where "just fine" isn't good enough. I should have studied harder, but the weekends are the only chance that I get to have some air. I'm either reading, studying, eating, or so I can have some sanity I watch some TV. (Which, once I'm done with this crazy week of tests, you should get a blog post about Gossip Girl and other shows that started and ended.) School always took over my life every once in a while, but when it did it was ASB or Band. Never the actual school part of it. I'm somewhat glad that I didn't get involved in anything right away at school. If I did, I would probably be pulling my hair out right about now. Seriously. I think next year, hopefully being on the paper and carrying more than 12 units a semester will be enough. I don't know how I did all of this in high school. Oh wait... I didn't. If I could go back, I would have worked harder in high school. If I did, I probably would not be a community college right now. But, at the same time, I'm glad that I have this experience. It's harder than high school but not too hard. I have friends of mine who are dying in college. They basically live in the library. While, I somewhat live in the library, I can understand, but, I can't fathom what they are going through. Every single time I text my best friend she's either in the library, eating or going to her student government meeting since she's a representative. That girl works harder than any other girl than I know. Well, I guess I should study for my Psychology test. Expect blog posts later this week when I get back to remotely having a life.

Gossip Girl comes back!

February and March always seem to bring back shows, which I don't mind whatsoever. I am excited to see how the new episodes of Gossip Girl start out. It's been interesting to see the spins that they have on that show. But, at the same time, it's getting predictable. The show right off the bat had some major followers, and it still does for the most part. Leave it to the man who created a show about Orange County to move on to Manhattan. It's interesting to see how they make the high schoolers, now college kids actually seem like that. The wealth that these kids have on the show, I think is probably what actually happens. Well, from what I know from Prep School in LA, this seems apparent. Needless to say, I am excited for Gossip Girl. It's been a while and I miss the what's-going-to-happen-next moments. Hopefully more of those moments will happen in this season.

NBC Shows

Alright. I have a feeling that some of you might be bored with the fact that I am constantly blogging about The Bachelor. But, what can I say, that show is addicting and the drama that comes after the show is even better! Now, for NBC shows.

Tonight, "Community" comes back on, which I am looking forward to. If you haven't started to watch "Community" do I hope that you do turn in. It's hilarious and my friend Brian and I actually notice some things that are similar to the community college that we go to. There may be some familiar faces that you see on "Community". The well-known actor, Chevy Chase, Joe McHale from E!'s "The Soup" and "The Hangover" naked man Ken Jeong. This show is witty and if you don't laugh comment and tell me how bad the show is, because I can never not crack a smile or a laugh when this show airs. The show is back on tonight on NBC at 8pm (Pacific Time).

Of course, the episode that many "The Office" fans have been waiting for. The "baby episode" which it's being called. I'm personally excited because my friend Brooks visited the set for this episode. And of course, I love Jim and Pam and I have been waiting for the baby to come. I thing that I like about this show is that you can come into it whenever you want. I'm not the type of person that has watched "The Office" straight from the beginning. And, isn't that the type of show that is a good show: when people can come all the time into the show. "The Office" airs tonight on NBC at 9pm (Pacific Time).

There are two shows that are new on NBC that I personally enjoy or at least hope to enjoy. The first one is "Marriage Ref". Before watching this show, I didn't know what to expect. My friend Dayton wanted to watch it and asked me to set my DVR. So, being the good friend that I was, I did. We watched it. I liked it. I think it's a more respectable version of "The Jerry Spring Show" or "Maury". Check it out tonight on NBC 10pm (Pacific Time).

The other show which I am excited to see how this one turns out is "Parenthood". "Parenthood" is about a sister/daughter/mom (Lauren Graham from "Gilmore Girls") who moves from Fresno back to her parents house for a better life. Other people in this show are Monica Potter, Craig T. Nelson and Dax Shepard. The show already brings up some of the difficult topics of parenthood. Hopefully, this show will be good. I really liked Monica Potter in that one TNT show, so hopefully this show won't end. I think she has so much potential.

As much as I am Team Tenley, I'm Team Jake

Tell me, why did you watch The Bachelor? Did you watch it because you heard about a girl named Vienna or a girl named Tenley? Most of the people who ended up watching The Bachelor from the beginning was because they wanted Jake to find love, and eventually a wife. Well, he did. Well, I personally think he found love, but maybe not a wife. We'll see when he puts and if he puts the other ring on it.

Most people wanted Tenley to "win". It just made sense. But think about it? How many people did you date that probably wasn't the best fit for you? I know I have. Tenley would have made a good wife, I think. She seemed like the type of person that would be a great mom. But, do we know that Jake wanted kids? We never heard him say that (feel free to tell me if he did). There other thing: we never heard Vienna's view on marriage and her values. We assumed that Tenley was a good girl with strong values, and I'm sure she was.

I read an article that made my view of Jake change a little and even my view of Vienna. Did you know that Jake "borrowed $4,000 from a business account to take a girl somewhere"? I didn't. Hmm... maybe this squeaky-clean guy on The Bachelor isn't so good? Maybe it is a good match?

I do hope that Jake is happy. It seems like they are in the honeymoon-post-Bachelor phase of their relationship. But let's see when their 15 minutes of fame ends (well, it might be a half and hour since Jake is now on Dancing with the Stars). I sure hope that Jake ends up having a good relationship, uh, I mean engagement with Vienna. Hopefully it will last when the cameras aren't rolling, because right now, anyone and everyone wants to take a picture with "Jienna". That will be the true test of Jienna when the "fame" wears away. I'm sure Vienna is on cloud nine, she's with a guy that she "loves" and now, she's going on press junkets for ABC. Well, Jienna, what will happen when ABC doesn't do things for you anymore? Whose money are you going to buy now?

Now, please look at these photos that I have up. Look at Vienna's ring! And Jake's sneakers and that phone clip?! What are you thinking Jake?! Quick, get the stylists from The Bachelor back, this man needs help! Fashion help asap! Oh Vienna, I do hope you give your man some fashion sense, because he's definitely going to need it if he keeps on going out like that.

Is Anyone Else Excited?

I know I am. I love Tim Burton! A bunch of my friends and I have been talking about this movie for months! It should be interested to see Anne Hathaway in a Tim Burton film. I think what I am most excited about is to see the spin that Burton puts on it. I'll let you know I think of it on Friday. My friends and I are seeing it at midnight at the Arclight! I can't wait!

Not Sunny California

I am so very tired of this bipolar weather in Los Angeles. One minute it is beautiful weather like normal winter/spring weather with shorts, sandals, and a sweatshirt and the next minute it's gloomy, dark and about to rain and uggs, jeans and sweatshirt are all needed. YUCK. I'm a little mad at my blackberry app. It told me it was going to rain today, so I wear my rainboots, jeans and a sweatshirt. It hasn't rained all day. But, it doesn't mean that it will. Now, a look like a complete weirdo who didn't even think to check to see the weather, I just assumed that it was going to be a normal sunny day in California. FYI to all of the people who think California is sunny 24/7. It's not. We have our fair share of rain, especially this year. Some people call this weather earthquake weather, like a warning that something bad is going to happen. In a way, that kind of makes sense especially because there have been earthquakes recently in Chile and Hawai. I hope Los Angeles does not get another earthquake again. I wish the weather would just make up its mind in general--either it's hot or cold.

The Bachelor...

Oh how everyone was in love with Jake! I was for sure, well, I was more smitten with him and I thought he was everything that most of us girls wanted (myself included). He seemed like an all-American guy who really wanted to find love and eventually a wife. And someone tell me, what makes pilots so darn attractive? I agree, that they are, but I just don't know why there are! But, I mean look at Jake! Isn't he adorable?!

Well, the finale was this Monday and it probably had to be the most nerve-racking Bachelor for me. One minute I thought and hoped that it was Tenley and the next minute I thought it was going to be Vienna. Not cool ABC!

I'm a huge fan of Tenley. I thought was so cute when she said her name was like the number 10! So cute and memorable on the first night of meeting Jake! I thought she was adorable. She seemed full of life and wanted Jake to be a part of that and more important wanted her to be life "teammate". And when Jake met her parents and vice-versa, it just seemed to be great to me! I was hoping for a Tenley and Jake finale. I thought it would have just been perfect. I do have to applaud Tenley for going back in to the field after what seemed to not be a great divorce. What a great thing you did and I hope you brought some of the women who were in the same situation as you to get up and go out and find someone. America loves you Tenley and you will find someone who loves you for all of you! And, you have the majority of American rooting for you to find love. You will find someone! At least I think so.

Right from the bat, I didn't like Vienna. She seemed to immature for Jake and someone who was just in it to be on television. I mean, the girl asked right away when she first met him if she can feels a guys abs. Um, awkward much. I wouldn't have like that if I were Jake. Throughout the show, when she got into tiffs with some of girls, the I-Don't-Like-This-Girl meter went up even higher. Then, when I started reading the tabloids, I didn't even like her even more. But, I probably should remember that that's the tabloids wanting a story. And when the hometowns came along and her mom said that she has been having girl problems for long time... hello another red flag!

As much as I am a "Team Tenley" girl, the thing is: what we see on The Bachelor is not everything. It's only a glimpse of what actually went on. When I was watching the show, I had a sneaky feeling that it was going to be Vienna. The only time it fooled me was when Jake had both rings in his hands and put the princess cut one down. (Real Bachelor fans know which one is which, but you can check out the picture that I made.) I got really excited because this meant that it was Tenley. Leave it to the Producers of The Bachelor to throw me for yet another loop.

However, looking back on it, Jake was in love with both and he wanted to find love and a wife. I guess he found one. The show didn't really show Vienna in the best light, but, after reading an interview on E! I was not that disgusted with Jake's choice. At least it seems like they have the same values and I can totally see him wanting a wife who wants to be a stay at home mom. I mean, it could have been really bad, he could have picked crazy Michelle! Looking at the photo that is on the fan page for The Bachelor on Facebook, Vienna and Jake look happy. And, that's what Jake wanted.

Let's face it though: no one from The Bachelor, not The Bachelorette, has ever married the person that they proposed to on the show or even dated after the show. So, maybe history will repeat itself? Looking at the track record, I think so.

This probably was the most controversial Bachelor in a long time. Let's not forget about Rozlyn, Jake sending Michelle home before the rose ceremony, and of course, Ali having to choose between Jake or her job.

I do have to say, I am quite excited that Ali is going to be the new Bachelorette. New Trista? I sure hope so. I see a lot of myself in her (I probably would have chose my job too if I were her!) and I can't wait to see the 25 guys in May! Although, anyone who didn't see her becoming the new Bachelorette is kinda blind, they already had her doing publicity like The Ellen Show.

Oh, and let's not forget, we'll get to see Jake show his moves on this season's Dancing With Stars. Crossover ABC... I think so. Maybe we'll see Vienna in the audience (most likely if she seems like the girl who wants to be on TV) or maybe the now "friend if Vienna allows it", Tenley will be there to support Jake too? I don't think he'll last that long unless he's a really good dancer because most people are still upset with his choice of Vienna, so Jake will have to win over America again. Although, he did show off his moves with Tenley several times. Hey ABC! Put Tenley as his dancer! That will definitely spice things up!

Googling Love

I never thought that the majority of my posts on here would be about love. Which is weird because I'm nowhere near a relationship whatsoever. It's interesting what happens when you Google the word Love.

I think my favorite thing that comes up on Google is the second one the Love Calculator. Don't you think that it would be so easy to calculate love? I mean, everything else is a calculation, so why can't love be? When I was taking my human sexuality class I learned that there are six different types of loving. I can't remember what the one where basically everything that you calculate the pros and cons is called, but that's actually one of them. I am a type of person that considers love to be there, but the person that I love has to have things in common with me and we just have to fit. It's not that I don't have a checklist and that I am weighing the good and bad things but things just have to click. So yes, I do think there is a chance of a calculation of love and relationships, but you can't really calculate if there is "the chance on a successful relationship between two people".

Another one that I find interesting on Google... the wikiHow on love. Love is different for everyone. There's no way that everyone can love the same. That's what is so unique about love, no one can EVER love the same way.

Valentine's Day?

What I am doing Valentine's Day? I am going to church with my family, then going to my high school for an event for a good friend of mine who is battling cancer. After that, probably going home and just having a nice dinner with my family or seeing if some of my friends want to hang out. So romantic, right? Absolutely not.

I feel like being a 19 year old college student and trying to find love or even a form of a relationship is pretty hard. Some girls, the lucky few may find love their first year in college. That's definitely not me. I know I'm no Jennifer Aniston or Megan Fox, but that doesn't mean that girls like me shouldn't feel like they need a guy in their life on Valentine's Day. When I was figuring out to write about with the topic of Valentine's Day a lot came into my mind. This post could be a post that just talks about the fact that I don't have that special someone in my life and that I am looking for it. I could have very well been an empowering post just saying, "screw guys! I'm an independent woman and I don't need a guy in my life!" Well, who are we kidding. We all want to find that special person in our lives. I'm not asking for a wedding ring, or a magical relationship that is only portrayed in the movies with tons of editing to make it look like that. In fact, I'm not asking for anything at all. I'm just wondering what I am doing with my life.

Let me tell you this, I have never been in a real relationship. I've never dealt with drama of my boyfriend telling me what I can and can't do. I've never had a guy even tell me that he loves me. Maybe it's just the way I'm going about my life. I have high standards. So, I'm just going to write my expectations for "my perfect guy" in hopes that one day, I will find that one.

I expect a guy to be my best friend, someone I can confide in.

I expect him to want to just crash on my couch and watch the TV show I want to watch, even The Bachelor.

I expect a guy to open my door (but not all the time, I can open a door too!).

I expect him to like my family and I expect to like his.

I expect him to have a loving relationship with his family.

I expect a guy to have some values.

I expect this guy to not be afraid to introduce me to his friends.

I expect him to not want to hang out with me and just hang out with his best friends (come on girls, we can't think that he'll want to be with us 24/7).

I expect this guy to not make fun or question of my values or my beliefs.

I expect him to be fine with the fact that I am having a girls' day/night and he and his friends are not included.

I expect this guy to be fine with staying inside for the day rather than going out.

I expect him to surprise me every once in a while (ie, bringing me flowers just because, taking me out to a movie and not telling me which one it is, baking me cupcakes or making a meal, taking me to a restaurant that's my favorite).

I expect him to love me and only me.

So this Valentine's day or this week look at the relationship in your life and ask yourself, "did he meet my expectations?" If he did, great! That's amazing, and I am insanely jealous of you or check again and make sure that you don't have low expectations. Were those expectations too high or is there something that you didn't notice?

We as women should not settle and men shouldn't either. I'm not saying that I believe in soulmates, but we should find something close to it.

I'm 19, never been in a relationship where a guy has told me that he loved me, and I've never told a guy that either. Honestly, SO WHAT?! I'm 19 years old... better yet, 19 years young. Love will find me when it should.

What am I doing this Valentine's Day: surrounding myself with people that love me... even if it's not that "special someone" that we all long for.

First Day of School

Does anyone else besides me actually remember enjoying the time where you would be excited to go to school? I do. In fact, today I was. I don't know if it's because I have friends that are really my friends that are on campus or if I really just learning. I remember my first day of school when I was in Kindergarten. I was so excited for my first day. I remember not sleeping at all because I knew that I would be having so much fun the next day. That same feeling happened again my freshman year, except, that was a little bit more nerve-racking. I remember wearing my skirt to prep school and hoping that it wasn't too short and the dean wouldn't call me in and give a detention. Looking back on the photo of how my skirt was, I laugh now because that was probably the longest I ever wore it. After that first day, I could careless what the deans were thinking. My first day back to college was the worst. Since I go to a Community College, you are basically on your own. There's no Freshman Orientation, that's your first day. I didn't have any friends of mine from high school go on to the school I went on to. I remember crying my first day and thinking that I wanted to go back to high school. Well, it's my first day of my third, but really second real semester. I have all of those feelings that I did when I started school. But more importantly, I am excited to see my friends. I'm taking another full course load, so expect the posts to be minimal, but, who knows, maybe there will be more. Whoever is reading this, I want to thank you. It's nice to know that someone is. Anyways, I should probably get ready since my class is in 30 minutes!

Happy 50th Birthday Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Today, I turned on the TV in my parents room to watch The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother since I didn't tape them out in the front TV in the living room. Getting ready to make myself comfy I wasn't really paying attention that much. Finally, right when I was comfy I heard the reporter talking about the Hollywood Walk of Fame and how today was it's 50th anniversary. So, I decided to make my post today about the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I remember my first time going to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It wasn't a trip to see all of my favorite movie stars' stars after planning a huge trip to Hollywood, it was going to see a movie at The El Capitan Theater when I was very young. Just a 20 minute drive to Hollywood and Highland and I was there. My mom told me how special this place was, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and I remember being so afraid and astonished that people were stepping on these stars like it was side walk. I remember tip-toeing that night and trying not to touch the pink colored stars as a way of honoring these people. Now, like everyone else, I just walk on them like it's no big deal, but, I still like to see who is star I am walking by.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is also a place where fans a grieve a death of their beloved star. When Michael Jackson passed I remember people telling me about how people were hovering over his star and remembering him. It's times like these that I am thankful that I live somewhat close to Hollywood, a place where people come to embrace the craziness that this place is.

When I googled Hollywood Walk of Fame and here are some interesting facts that I wanted to share with you.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame originally began as a way to lure in people after WWII.
It is estimated that over 10 million people come annually.
The idea of the Walk began when people starting moving to the suburbs in the 50's and TV was moving to the East Coast
Before the walk was built, a group of Hollywood property owners mounted a campaign to keep Charlie Chaplin's name off the sidewalk, later, Chaplin's son sued to put his father's name on the Walk of Fame. The suit was dismissed and Chaplin got his star in 1972.
There are 5 different types of emblems on that you can see on the Walk. Each one representing a different part of the industry. Also, it is what the star received the star for.

One-time actor Ronald Reagan is the only President of the United States to have a star, and one of the two Governors of California to have a star, the other one is Arnold Schwarzenegger.
On April 29, 2004, 18-year-old twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen became the youngest people in any category ever to receive a star.
On November 18, 1978, in honor of his 50th anniversary, Mickey Mouse became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 2005, companies became eligible for Walk-of-Fame-type stars; the first recipient was Disneyland, in honor of its 50th anniversary. Company awards are on private property near the Walk, and not part of the Walk itself. Companies must have a strong Hollywood presence and be at least fifty years old to qualify for this award.

Another thing that I found interesting is how the process works to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Apparently, The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame Committee is responsible for selecting a new group of entertainers each year to receive stars on the Walk. New recipients are announced each June for the next year. In order for a person to get a star on the Walk, he or she must agree to attend a presentation ceremony within five years of selection, and a fee must be paid to the Trust; some of it which is set aside for maintenance and repair, with the rest going towards the installation, security, publicity, staging costs and other items.

No matter how you look at it, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a place that holds a special place in many peoples' hearts. Happy Birthday Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Sick :/

I wish I was as cute as this teddy bear looking sick, but I'm not. I don't remember the last time I was this sick. I feel like someone has punched me on the forehead and right on my cheeks. Thankfully, my throat is no longer sore, but my nose is still stuffy and I'm just happy to hear. Tomorrow is my last day of class! Thank goodness! There has not been a dull moment while taking Human Sexuality. If you are reading this and you are a college student or will be, take a Human Sexuality class... you will learn A LOT. And, I mean that. If you're not a student, take it anyways at your local community college, it's worth the money. Heck, take it with your partner, you may learn a thing or two. Well, back to paper writing and studying for my test tomorrow. I just wanted to let all of you know why I haven't been blogging as much. But, check out my tumblr. I post on there, quick little things and whatnot. Anyone have a cure for a nasty bug? I'm tired of being sick.

A Personal Note

I feel like this year I've done, so far, a lot of growing up. I actually feel like an adult now. I've always worried about being home on time, just because I thought that was the right thing to do, but for the most part, my parents trust me and know that I'm going to be home at a reasonable hour. I do have to say, I am dreading this weekend. On Sunday, my best friend who goes to school in a different state is leaving to go back to school. Which will be harder for me this time then leaving her when she went for the summer to start school. I don't know what it is. My best friend, a guy, had been nonexistent in my life because he was so caught up with his girlfriend. Now, his girlfriend is no longer in the picture, and we've been spending more time with each other... which makes me happy because our whole relationship changed after his girlfriend, now ex, came into the picture. These past weeks have been amazing. I'm spending time with my best girl friend and best guy friend every day practically... something that never happened with all of us. I feel like these two people have my back and will do anything, and I would totally do the same for them. I have to admit, my senior year really shook my whole life. I lost my best friend, because of something that I did, which, to this day, I don't understand. But, whatever, that's in the past and I have two people in my life, that I know will be there in the end. This summer, I will be getting my own place with a friend or two. I can't tell you how excited I am. I can't wait, to have a place and have friends come over, and not have to worry about making sure that I am waking up my parents or that my friends will say something that I don't want my parents to hear. I can't wait to come home after class and cook for my roommate just because I feel like it. Or have a small parties. I'm ecstatic. It's interesting how content I am with everything. I mean, a boyfriend would be icing on the cake, but we can't have everything, and to be quite honest, I'd rather focus on school right now and then find someone later. I really feel like I am a college student. I could careless what the mean girls in my high school are up to or what the gossip is with someone that I went to high school with. I thought my high school relationships were going to be the important ones, but you know what, the most important ones, are the ones that I choose. Either way, I am so happy right now, spending time with my two best friends, and my good friends. Thank you God for giving this to me. I feel like everything is ay-okay, and I don't remember the last time I ever felt like this.

My goal this year was to actually see all of the movies that have been nominated for the Golden Globes, and then of course, when the list of what is nominated for the Academy Awards to have seen all of those. Here is everything that has been nominated for the Golden Globes. Here you will see my thoughts on who will get what and what I liked and disliked about each of the films or actors.

Best Motion Picture - Drama

I was completely blown away by this movie. I am not a big sci-fi person at all. Hearing that this movie was worth it, I checked it out. And oh man, it was. However, I feel like I need to see it again because I was so blown away by all of the 3D effects. It also has a Pocahontas type of feel to it. Which, being the Disney child that I am, I don't mind. Needless to say, if this wins, I will be happy because it definitely changed the way Hollywood makes movies.

The Hurt Locker
I haven't seen this yet. From what I have been reading this movie is the one that should win, but probably won't. It's on my list to watch, it's apparently available on DVD. Hopefully, I will fit this in tonight after I go see Crazy Heart with my family.

Inglourious Basterds
Another one that I haven't seen. A bunch of my friends saw it and they said that they liked it. I highly doubt that this will get the win, but you never know.

Precious: Based On The Novel Push By Sapphire
An intense film. I saw this one with my friend Jeni. We were one of the very few that were in the theater. Which, surprised me. For some reason, I have a feeling this won't win because it is one of those movies that people talk about, but at the same time don't because of the issues in this film that are presented. However, it is a wonderful film, and by wonderful, I mean, it's definitely something of this time. If this wins, I think it would be a shock to me, but I good shock, because these are issues that are affecting many people in this world.

Up In The Air
A great film. Very Frank Capra in my opinion. This is a movie that is telling of this time, and by this time, the fact that many people are unemployed, and this definitely hit home with me. I feel like a great film is something that you can watch and understand the people of that certain period of time, and this movie does that. This one, is expected to win. Although, you never know what will happen. The directing, writing, and acting are all great. And, I've seen this twice, so that's a good thing in my book because I usually don't see films twice.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama

Emily Blunt – The Young Victoria

Ah! I haven't seen her in this yet! I just didn't have enough time, because this was one that came out closer to the Golden Globe dates. From just the trailers of it, it looks great and Blunt seems like she gives a worthy performance. If she wins, I will definitely check this movie out.

Sandra Bullock – The Blind Side

I saw this for a second time last night; my friend Dayton wanted to go, so I said I would. I figured I would pay attention to her performance than to the movie itself this time. Bullock plays a character that really pulls at the heartstrings of almost any person. She plays a strong woman, that I think anyone would want to embody. You can definitely tell that she put her time and energy into learning and living this role. If she wins, it will be a great win for her, and I think everyone because, I think she played a great Christian woman, who makes us all think a little bit more about our lives.

Helen Mirren – The Last Station

Honestly, I haven't heard anything about her performance in this, let alone, this movie. So, I'm guessing that she will not win. If she does, it goes on the list to check out.

Carey Mulligan – An Education

Ah, this movie! This was a great movie. A very coming of age movie. Carey Mulligan will probably not win, but she should. Never once in this movie, do you think it is actually her, but the character that she plays. I think that was the one problem with Bullock's character, sometimes you just knew it was Sandra playing that character rather than the actual character. Mulligan's performance was noteworthy, and really helped you understand the baggage that came with this character. Carey, I do hope you win.

Gabourey Sidibe – Precious: Based On The Novel Push By Sapphire

Oh Gabourey. What a great American dream story. I'm sure as most of you know, she just randomly auditioned for this part. She had a great performance as well. You could really tell that she put her heart into this. You could feel the pain of Precious. She also had a notable performance, but I think that there's more that she could have done. If she wins, great, I will definitely be happy about that.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama

Jeff Bridges – Crazy Heart

I'm seeing this tonight. From what I have heard, Bridges gives a great performance and the Globe should go to him. I'll give you my two cents once I see it.

George Clooney – Up In The Air

He gave a great performance. I hope that he wins. His performance was one that captivated me... twice! So, you know that's a good thing. He really made me feel everything that his character loved and hated.

Colin Firth – A Single Man

I haven't see this either. I heard it was great, and probably his best performance. I think it would be great if he won, because I feel like Firth is under-appreciated in Hollywood.

Morgan Freeman – Invictus

He also had a great performance, but not one that I thought after the movie was something that was worthy enough for the Globe. It could have been too, that that night was also the night where I lost my blackberry and I was more concerned about that than anything else.

Tobey Maguire – Brothers

I didn't see this either! I wanted to, but no one wanted to go with me. Tobey seemed crazy intense from the previews. But, I don't think he's going to win. The story line seemed very similar to Pearl Harbor...

Best Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical

(500) Days Of Summer
Finally! I category where I have seen everything! This movie was great! It's not your typical love story at all! It's an ending that you either want or don't want. This movie was funny, witty, and totally dealt with love where most romantic comedies wouldn't go. I've heard this one might win, which would be fine by me.

The Hangover
HILARIOUS. I saw this movie three times! once with my guy friends, another with my girlfriends and the last time with my dad. Every single time, I laughed. I feel like a good comedy always keeps you guessing and when it hits you it's just insanely funny. This movie did that. I wouldn't expect it to win, because it's a crude humor for most people. But oh man, was that movie funny.

It's Complicated
I saw this with my family Christmas day. This movie is a movie for any age. It's one of those movies that has the right balance between just plain funny, to the crude comedy, to slapstick. Overall, a very funny movie. Before going to this movie, I was trying to figure out how Steve Martin's character played into the whole love triangle of it, but it embeds him in well. Just a plain ol' good funny movie. Wouldn't be surprised if this wins especially because everyone loves Meryl.

Julie & Julia
Another Meryl movie. This was good one, but I honestly didn't think it was Globe worthy. I came out there amused, but not with jokes or funny scenes that made me smile. Then again, it is a Meryl movie, so it might win. And, everyone loves Amy Adams...

Nine
An entertaining movie. I went in here, thinking that it was going to be another Chicago type of movie, especially because it was from the same director. It's not. It was good, but it had me wanting to check my cell phone to see what time it was, and to me, that's not a good thing.

Sandra Bullock – The Proposal

I secretly hope that Sandra wins the Globe here, because this is her cup of tea. She was funny and witty in this movie, but I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't win.

Marion Cotillard – Nine

Marion was good. She definitely embodied her character. But, I don't think she was amazing. It would be nice for her to win, especially because it's a musical, but I just don't see this happening.

Julia Roberts – Duplicity

Sorry Julia, there is no way you are winning. I fell asleep when I rented this. That has to say something. It is not your night for the Globe, I'm so sorry.

Meryl Streep – It's Complicated

Either way, it's Streep's night. For some reason, I expect her to win for Julie & Julia. But, either way, she's going home with a Globe. I wonder which one she wants to win?

Matt Damon – The Informant!

Another one I didn't see, but I wanted to! I heard Damon was great in this. I also heard that he should win, but he won't. I wish I could say more, but I didn't see it.

Daniel Day-Lewis – Nine

Although I was somewhat disappointed with Nine, I do think that Daniel Day-Lewis did a great job playing Guido. I wouldn't be surprised if this goes to him. He really did a good job making me sympathize with this crazy, yet great man.

Robert Downey Jr. – Sherlock Holmes

Robert did a decent job. I personally think that it's somewhat Globe worthy, but I didn't come out of the theater thinking OMGSH this man is amazing! That's what I expect from a Golden Globe winner.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt – (500) Days Of Summer

In my opinion, I think that Levitt should be happy that he is in the same category was these guys. Yes, he did a good job, but nothing too notable.

Michael Stuhlbarg – A Serious Man

Didn't see the movie, and haven't heard anything about it.

Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

Penélope Cruz – Nine

Cruz was good, but not amazing. Sorry Cruz, it's just not your night. Didn't you win last year?

Vera Farmiga – Up In The Air

I thought Vera did a great job! She definitely made this character her own and we could really tell. Let alone the fact, that working with Clooney is hard and sometimes she even upstaged him.

Anna Kendrick – Up In The Air

Anna is in a group of great actresses. I think she knows that she's not going to get it, but is totally happy with the nomination. She definitely had a wonderful performance and I think what makes the best supporting actress is supporting the people acting and knowing where you stand. Kendrick did this.

Mo'nique – Precious: Based On The Novel Push By Sapphire

No doubt, Mo'nique is going to win. She really knew this character completely and made us truly hate her. Without a doubt she's winning.

Julianne Moore – A Single Man

I didn't see this! But knowing Moore, I am sure she gave a Globe worthy performance.

Matt Damon – Invictus

Matt Damon did a really good job with this movie too. In fact, that was the only reason I was pay attention, because his character was so compelling.

Or this one! Maybe I do need to see The Last Station!

Stanley Tucci – The Lovely Bones

I love Stanlet Tucci! I didn't see this one, but knowing him, he probably did a great job!

I didn't see this one either!

Best Animated Feature Film

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
This is the one animated film that I didn't see! It looked good! But, I'm expecting Up to win.

Coraline
Coraline was a great film! A little creepy, but good. The animation in it was great and the story line was good for the most part. I don't expect it to win though. But, you never know.

Fantastic Mr. Fox
I loved the wittiness of this film! However, I felt like I could really tell which named actor was playing who, and to me, that bugs me, especially when it's some type of animation.

The Princess And The Frog
Oh man! It was so nice to see the old 2D of Disney come back to life! As a kid growing up with good Disney movies, this made me feel like I was a 7 year old again. The music was good, but for some reason I like Randy Newman as a Disney/Pixar man, rather than Disney.

Up
Up was an amazing film. It pulled my heartstrings. Especially that montage of him and his wife. I expect this one to win just because it's a relatable film for any age.

Best Director - Motion Picture

Kathryn Bigelow – The Hurt Locker

I didn't see this, but I heard Bigelow did a great job of really bringing this movie to life and also understanding each of the characters.

James Cameron – Avatar

I wouldn't be surprised if this won, but at the same time, I kinda left wanting more, in both a good and bad way. The question is, will the Hollywood Foreign Press Association go with the fact that he changed cinema forever? Or will it be because he made a good film.

Clint Eastwood – Invictus

A good film. Wouldn't surprise me, if this one won. But, then again, I honestly wasn't pay attention because I was so worried about my blackberry that I lost. It did keep in entertained though.

Jason Reitman – Up In The Air

I think that Reitman should win. Will he? Who knows. Oh Jason, how I loved the way you made this film. The way you made me relate to every single character in this film, and I mean every single one. I do hope you win.

Quentin Tarantino – Inglourious Basterds

This one I didn't see. It wouldn't surprise me if he did win, just to make things interesting.

Red Carpet Season!

There are three seasons/holidays that I love and they go in this order: Thanksgiving, Christmas and Red Carpet Season. I think I was about 5 years old when I started watching and comprehending what Red Carpet Season was. I remember sitting on the couch watching all of the pretty women decked out in the finest outfits and just looking breathtaking. No joke. I also remember my mom and I watching all of the interviews before the Golden Globes and the Oscars started. That was the most mesmerizing thing to me, a reporter asking the questions "what are you wearing" and "tell us about your nomination". My dream is to be there when it happens. I don't care if it's reporting, getting someone's coffee, planning and making sure the event runs smoothly, or even having a client of my own that's nominated and I'm standing on the Red Carpet. I don't care, I just love that part of Hollywood. When Christyn and I first started the process of our friendship we found one thing in common: that we wanted to be seat-fillers for the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. This year, figuring that I would try to find our way of getting in, I googled how. Well, apparently, there's no way one can be a seat-filler for both of those events. It's that exclusive. Which, I totally understand. So, my dream as of right now, was crushed. Until I found out that my school paper, sends a reporter to cover that. Hello! When I get on the paper, pick me please! Needless to say, my dream hasn't been completely crushed yet. I'm hoping with all of my might that I will get to cover the Oscars next year! That would be a dream come true! Of course, if I do, I promise to post pictures. So, please, pray for me that I get to cover them next year or maybe be an intern somewhere!

I don't know what I would do without Twitter, seriously. Twitter has done some really good things, I've gotten to keep in touch with some of my friends and get more updates about news. In fact, that's how I heard about the Earthquake in Haiti. And Sprinkles Cupcakes, which is a popular place to get your cupcakes in Los Angeles, tomorrow is donating 100% of their proceeds to Red Cross. How did I hear about this? Twitter of course. So tomorrow, if you are anywhere near 9635 Little Santa Monica Boulevard/two blocks west of Rodeo Drive from 9am-7pm go visit Sprinkles Cupcakes! It'll be a good thing for you because your stomach will LOVE this cupcake and you will be happy because you helped the people of Haiti! So go! Order a Red Cross Red Velvet Cupcake. If it's really that bad of a cupcake, let me know and I will pay you back. Seriously.

Celebrities Come Together

As much as people like to complain about Hollywood and their stars they also do some great things for people and places especially when they need it. Right now, the situation at Haiti is bringing so many people together. I just wanted to share with you what some are doing. Who knows maybe it will change your opinion of them, or even donate to what they are doing.

Wyclef Jean is Haitian-American multi-platinum musician, rapper, and record producer. Many of you know him from the song "Sweetest Girl". He also is ambassador to Yele Haiti a global awareness for Haiti while helping to transform the country through programs in education, sports, the arts and environment. You can check out how to donate to Yele Haiti or learn more about it here. http://www.yele.org/. Also Jean and Give On The Go campaign joined forces to encourage people from around the world to send a text message of "Yele" to 501501 on their mobile device which would then charge $5 to the donor's cellular phone bill.

Of course, Hollywood's power couple, Brad and Angelina's foundation, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation has donated $1 Million dollars to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontiéres. And according to Doctors Without Borders' website"More than 2,000 patients have been treated so far at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) locations in Port-au-Prince. Teams are now focusing their attention on expanding surgical capacity, as needs are huge."

Ben Stiller, who has been in tons of movies that I love, and an actor known and loved by many, launched a series of viral videos on Stillerstrong.org, his personal website in the hope of raising money for the Save the Children’s Ceverine Community School Project in Haiti. And this is from Save the Children's website about what they are doing in Haiti, "One of our key priorities is protecting children in emergencies around the world. We're on the ground now, in Haiti delivering assistance, often with local staff in advance of a disaster, and we stay on the scene long afterwards." Apparently too, Lance Armstrong poked fun as his charity, StillerStrong, but I am guessing that has to deal with the fact of Armstrong's LiveStrong campaign.

Scarlett Johansson apparently is an Oxfam ambassador. I had no idea about that! In one report from FOX she states, "As an ambassador of Oxfam, I urge those who are able to donate to the organization which currently has over 200 people on the ground and a team of 15 highly-experienced emergency specialists based in the capital that are responding with public health, water and sanitation services to prevent the spread of water borne disease.” And from their website about what Oxfam is doing in Haiti, they write, "Oxfam staff in Haiti are providing shovels and picks for local civil workers to clear rubble to search for trapped victims in the capital, Port-au-Prince, following Tuesday’s massive earthquake in Haiti."

Chris Martin, the singer from Coldplay is also teaming up with Oxfam for people to make donations to Haiti. In a relase from Oxfam, Martin says this, "I visited Haiti with Oxfam a few years ago. It's a country of extreme poverty and brutal living conditions. Most people in Port-au-Prince live in tin shacks. The earthquake that has struck Haiti will have turned the city into an unimaginable hell."

And the beloved talk show host, Oprah on her show mentioned that we as Americans need to come together and help the people of Haiti. She asked viewers to donate to the Red Cross in anyway because “we, as a global nation, should come together and support those in need.” As many of you know you can text Haiti to 90999 and $10 will be charged to your phone bill to help this place. So far, over $5 Million has been donated from people texting. I think everyone should do it. It's really simple. It took less than a minute for me to do, in fact, in my last post, you can see the text that you would get when you donate to Red Cross.

Haiti. It's been the topic of many news outlets. Being the teenager/young person that I am, Hollywood seems to be interesting than anything else, (and probably another reason is that I live in a place that is driving distance and several people that I know have been on some type of screen, anyways, that's besides the point) but I find it interesting that even my friends are talking more about Simon Cowell or the whole NBC Tonight Show debacle than Haiti. Even my friend Casey noticed it too, check out her blog here. Although school has slowly taken over my life (when has it not?) the only news outlet (besides my Twitter account that I follow with many news outlets) that I seem to watch is E! News. I know, I am a terrible person, I should be watching ABC News or anything else besides E! News, but what can I say, I've always loved E! and I like knowing what's going on in Hollywood, especially when I hope to get involved with it somehow when I am older. But all of my rants about Hollywood is not why I am blogging today. I'm blogging because I hope in someway, whoever is reading this, that they take the time to donate somehow to the situation in Haiti.

Here are someways how you can be apart of helping this place that suffered through so much.

TEXTING! As a girl that always has her blackberry in hand, this is what I've done so far. At first, I thought, $10! That's a big price to be asking, especially because I am trying to save as much money as possible because I am moving this summer. I thought of all of the possible ways of how I could use my $10... I could have gone out to lunch with one of my friends, maybe bought a cheap shirt from Forever 21 that was on sale, even go see a movie (but that's pushing it, because I have no idea where you can see a movie for $10 anymore)... but I realized, $10 CAN make a difference. This is why Obama did so well with money during his campaign, a little can go a long way. So text Haiti to 90999 to donate $10 that will be charged to your phone bill. This isn't a scam. In fact, Red Cross has raised over $5 Million as of Thursday. Also, check out what Mashable, my new favorite site, has posted about donating to the Red Cross. You can check that out, right here.

As a proud Lutheran, well ELCA Lutheran, I try to make sure that I think about what my church has been doing or will be doing to be apart of this disaster. Lutheran World Relief, which is formed by both Lutheran Churches in America, ELCA and LCMS come together through this organization to help the world. This came from a person who I work with in the Lutheran Church to share with as many as possible:

From the ELCA Disaster Response Website: The ELCA, through the Lutheran World Federation, is already responding to the critical needs of survivors in Haiti. Thankfully, the LWF offices and staff on the island were spared in the earthquake, making it possible for work to begin immediately. Staff there will focus their immediate efforts on issues of water safety and sanitation, assisting with medical triage, and providing emergency sheltering for the many who are now homeless.

I urge you, please check out Lutheran World Relief, they are desperately trying to help as much as possible.

Also, my friend Christyn, has some other ideas on her page here, as well how you can help out as well. And Christyn, if you are reading this, I'm sorry that I copied you, you just put everything out so perfectly I just had to share.

Of course, there are three simple things that you can do:

Educate yourself what is going on in Haiti. The worst thing is to talk to other people about it and end up telling someone the wrong information. If you educate and tell others, then others will check out what you are talking about.
If you are on Facebook, check out this event, Wear Red for Haiti. I mean, how awesome would it be to see a sea of red everywhere, knowing that people that you know and don't know are thinking about this terrible thing that has happened to the people of Haiti. I know I will be wearing red this Tuesday, will you?
As Christyn has on her page, pray. I am a firm believer in prayer, yes, if you want you can disagree with me. And trust, I have had my days of "God, are you even listening to what I have to say?", but I think that when God hears from many, things will be answered. It may not be in the time frame that we want, but they will be answered.

One of my favorite blogs on the Teen Vogue website is People Are Talking About blog. Of course, I didn't get to look at it for weeks because I was dealing with the week before finals and then finals. But, I came across this post about a gift idea. With all of the Christmas cards and everything, people need address labels! But what more important than giving the gift that keeps on giving! At Paperwink, they have some very affordable one, not to mention the fact that they are cute! I personally think that this would make a cute wedding gift! And, it would totally save the couple some money and it's a green thing to do. Remember, most people like gifts that are personal, because they know that you are truly thinking about them and what things they like, not something that you bought in bulk that your 50 closest friends would somewhat like.

Ah! I Can't Stand This Girl!

Every once in a while, I enjoy going on Teen Vogue. I get their magazines, but it's nice to see what they have on there, not to mention the fact that most of the magazines are going out of the print business and moving everything online. However, the moment I saw this I screamed.

Let me zoom in for you a little bit, so you can understand what I was not so happy about.

Now, I am sure you are wondering? Why would I not like the fact that sweet Dakota Fanning is on Teen Vogue? Well, Dakota Fanning isn't the sweetest girl in the world; and I'm about to tell you why. About this time, a year ago, my friends and I were at In-N-Out after our school's basketball. Figuring out that the lean blonde was Dakota Fanning, I told one of my friends and secretly was flipping out inside. I thought she was a good actress, and it was cool to see someone that worked with some great actors. Well, there were a bunch of our friends and there wasn't any room at all, except where Dakota and her friends were sitting. We noticed that they were almost done, and we patiently waited for them. I thought, cool, we have seats now. But, right when I went to go and sit down, I noticed that there was ice on my seat, ketchup and pepper all over the tables. I was furious. This girl, who seemed so cordial on interviews on the red carpet, left a mess at In-N-Out. I was pissed. Why would she do this? Granted, I'm sure it could have been her friends as well, but just because you make paychecks that have my zeros that I have in my phone number doesn't mean that everyone is going to pick up after you. Needless to say, I am not a huge Dakota Fanning fan, and anytime I hear or see her, I end up thinking about that night at In-N-Out where her and her friends made such a mess. Don't get me wrong, I am sure she's a great person, and probably picks up after herself, or at least I hope so. But here's the thing, we all have one impression to make on someone before their opinions of us can change, and on that night, my opinion of Fanning changed.
