“A vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more.” – Rosabeth Moss Kanter

Imagine yourself living in the reality of your greatest dreams where all those prayers, hopes, and thoughts have come true. Everything is working out just as you imagined and you’re the happiest and most fulfilled you’ve ever been. A beautiful mental picture, isn’t it?

Every one of us is striving every day to get closer to the life we believe we deserve. And somewhere along your life journey, you must have questioned how possible it is to be the achiever you want to be. A part of the human process of understanding self and the universe is the relentless pursuit of what we must do in order to achieve the elixir of life – our purpose!

We are blessed with a powerful imagination that takes us places we’ve never been to and makes us see things as though they’re a reality even when they’re not. Visualization (also called mental imagery) is so powerful that successful athletes have used it for years to improve their performance.

What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is a medium through which you can organize your mental imagery. It is a collection of images, objects, or quotes that represent the future you want; often made out of aesthetically pleasing magazine cut-outs of people you admire or want to meet, places you want to go, things you want to have, companies you want to work with – simply, an assortment of your goals and desires.

Our ancestors in the stone age era expressed their imagination and visualization through cave paintings that historians believe were used to anticipate future danger and prepare adequately to face it – we can say that was the first use of vision boards.

The book, The Secret, is known to have popularized the use of vision boards to make dreams become reality based on the Law of Attraction that suggests our thoughts become things so we attract what we focus on.

Oprah is quoted saying she used a vision board to envision Barack Obama as president – down to the details of the dress she’d wear at the inauguration. Celebrities like Steve Harvey, Katy Perry, Beyonce and others have had their vision boards come to life. Even Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx attributes vision boarding to the success of her business. Spiritual leaders have also used vision boards to manifest their realities.

A survey done by TD Bank reports that people who have images, photos, or vision boards of their goals are twice as confident about achieving them than those who don’t; they’re also less anxious about budgeting, they feel more accomplished and are happier than people who don’t visualize their achievements.

The images on your vision board play a huge role in actualizing your thoughts because of a process in your brain called value tagging. Your brain allocates a higher value to those images you present it with and gives them more importance and attention. What you see is really what you believe and proceed to act on in order to make it come to pass.

How to Create a Vision Board + What You’ll Need

“The reality is that whatever you are looking for is, at the same time, looking for you. It all starts with believing before seeing.” – Dr Robert Anthony

To get started you’ll need a great attitude! This should be a fun process because you’re gathering your dreams in one place. This process can either be a physical or digital one and you can follow this easy process;

Goal Setting. What do you want to attract, accomplish or focus on in your life? Goals are best divided into different areas of your life to make it easier for you to zone in on each. Your goals could be divided into personal, physical (health), mental, family, and career goals. This is best done monthly, quarterly or yearly. Write all of them down in a notebook.

Search for images that represent your goals from magazines, old photos, newspapers, books, etc. Make sure they’re an accurate description of what you wish to manifest. You can also use Google or Pinterest. Make the cut-outs or download the images.

Arrange them on a physical board or digitally on Canva. Before you glue them to the board, arrange and re-arrange them in a layout until they make you inspired. Use motivating words, phrases, quotes, and embellishments if you want. Glue them to the board when you’re satisfied.

Place your vision board where you can see it every day either in the morning or evening before you sleep. Remember, seeing is believing and you looking at it constantly will serve as a reminder and inspiration of where you want to be. If you don’t want other people to see it, look at your board when they’re not around.

Mistakes to Avoid When Making a Vision Board

Not being specific with your goals. Vagueness sends a message to the universe that you don’t know exactly what you want. It’s not more money; it’s 10,000 dollars. It’s not to travel more often; it’s to travel to Thailand. It’s not losing weight; it’s losing 50 pounds. Assign figures and names to your dreams because that’s what your subconscious will start to register as true.

Not believing in the realization of your dreams. Making a vision board is one thing, believing the possibility of it coming true is another. Let your imagination, thoughts, and beliefs work in harmony to steer your dreams forward. Speak it all to existence as though it was already true.

Not taking action. You are a co-creator with the universe and all the good energies around you; your part is to put in the work needed to make your dreams a reality. It’s the actions that separate achievers from wishful thinkers. The vision board serves as a guide, inspiration, and reminder of the little steps you’re supposed to take. If you don’t work out or make healthier lifestyle choices, the chances of you achieving your body goals are significantly low. You hold the key to unlocking the possibilities that your vision board presents to you.

Your best life is a vision board away. The time to make one is now. A little guidance will go a long way to help you set ultra-clear goals depending on your strengths and opportunities for growth. Book your free consultation call with me to get you started and unstuck!

“I trust my gut-feeling/inner voice.”

“I have a bad feeling about this.”

“Something about this person just doesn’t feel right.”

“I have a strong hunch.”

“I had an aha moment!”

“I can’t explain how but I knew that was the right decision to make.”

I’m pretty sure one or all of the above statements have crossed your mind at some point. When you can’t put a finger on why you feel the way you do about something or someone which serves to protect you most of the time or turns out to be right in the end. Like making the right hiring decision, turning down an offer that looks great, choosing a life partner, not taking a particular road, postponing a flight, checking up on someone you haven’t talked to in a long time, etc.

Intuition is one of the best gifts given to human beings. One that has been scientifically proven to be the highest form of intelligence. Great minds like Albert Einstein and Steve Jobs considered intuition to be at the heart of everything they did – which served them well.

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” – Albert Einstein

Steve Jobs spent a considerable amount of time in India and he observed how the people there tapped into their intuition. In his opinion, Jobs believed that intuition was more powerful than intellect and he used it to guide him in the work he did at Apple. Given the admirable body of work he left behind, I must agree with him.

What is intuition?

Simply put, Intuition is spiritual wisdom. It is a feeling-based form of communication between your soul and body. Using our intuitive abilities does not involve intensive rational thinking processes and that’s why we refer to it as the sixth sense, hunch, gut feeling, premonition, instinct, inner voice, spiritual guide, etc. Intuition serves to guide, protect and inform us and this communication comes from our subconscious mind.

How can I tell I have intuition?

Every one of us is blessed with intuition and you may not have paid much mind to it or labeled it but it’s within you. It’s that inner voice that talks to you. Intuition is like a superpower that seeks to give you that which your other five senses does not and when cultivated, it can go a long way into helping you tap into your highest self or develop higher consciousness.

“Your intuition is the most honest friend you’ll ever have.” – Doe Zantamata

Types of Intuition and How to Tap Into them

Clairvoyance – The Intuitive Act of Clear Seeing

This is the ability to gain visual telepathic information that others can’t see. It can manifest as somewhat of a daydream when you have visions and flashes. This intuitive gift can be used to get information about an object, a person, events, or a location. It doesn’t necessarily have to be things you see in the physical realm but in your mind’s all-seeing eye – also called the third eye.

You may be a clairvoyant if; you have vivid dreams and imaginations, you see people’s auras, you visualize easily, you see flashes of twinkling lights/colors, you’re a visual learner, you believe in seeing signs from the universe and you’re able to visualize tasks.

You can strengthen your clairvoyance by practicing meditation to help you become more aware of your thoughts/visions/daydreams, practicing mindfulness which is the art of being intentional with your attention and driving it towards what you can see, journaling the images that come to mind and ensuring that your energy is balanced. Invest time into these practices and record the patterns you see in your visions which may be communicating something to you.

Clairaudience – The Intuitive Act of Clear Hearing

This is the ability to hear or access sound frequencies, resonances, and vibrations within yourself or from other sources that most people can’t hear. You may refer to it as inner hearing which is often calm, soft, and sounds just like you. It can serve as guidance, warning, or instructions.

You may be clairaudient if; you are very sensitive to sound, you crave quietness, you often hear high pitched voices from nowhere, you hear your name being called out even when it’s not, you feel as though you can hear what animals are thinking, you’re an auditory learner, you’re very creative, and you’re musically inclined.

You can strengthen your clairaudience by isolating different instruments when listening to music which trains your brain to pick up on subtle sounds, sit still in nature or a quiet place in reflection to learn how to hear every sound around you (loud and soft) and name it, and it’s useful to record these voices so that you can determine your thoughts and those coming from a clairaudient channel.

Claircognizance – The Intuitive Act of Clear Knowing

This is an instant feeling of just knowing – or what we call instinct. Information suddenly comes to mind without logic, prior knowledge, briefing from others, without reason, and sometimes memory of it. You just get this strong gut feeling about things and you’re often right about them. It’s like an instant download of information that doesn’t go through rationalization.

You may be claircognizant if: you can predict outcomes and come up with solutions quickly, you know when someone is lying or is untrustworthy, people often come to you for guidance, you’re a self-learner, you enjoy logical thinking and analyzing, you love reading and writing, you have a lot of a-ha moments, you’re naturally full of wisdom and you have strong gut-feelings.

You can strengthen your claircognizance by paying special attention to“I just know” hunches and keeping a record of them to track the patterns and see if you can adequately predict situations, speaking a question or intention and meditating to receive the answers and sitting in silence, focusing on your breath and allowing your spirit to “download” messages.

Clairsentience – The Intuitive Act of Clear Sensing

This is the ability to sense or feel other people’s emotions and pain without being told about them. It involves tuning into other people’s energy or sensing energy – and it doesn’t have to be intentional. Empaths are people who have strong clairsentience because they are highly sensitive to how other people feel and they experience the same emotions intensely.

You may be clairsentient if: you’re extremely sensitive and others say that about you, you’re a natural healer, you sense energy in a room, you dislike big crowds, movies make you cry, seeing other people in pain makes you emotional, you can feel the energy on objects, you experience goosebumps a lot, and you have sudden mood changes.

You can strengthen your clairsentience by learning to work with energy and harnessing it through meditation, healing, and light work, learning what affects your energy like thoughts, feelings, actions, and cleanliness, decluttering your space and mind to clear energy blockers, and learning how to listen to your emotions by making room for them to be understood and processed by you.

If you need help tapping into your intuitive abilities and maximizing them to serve you, make sure you plan a free consultation with me.

Angie Swartz was a guest on the Conceiving your divine purpose podcast hosted by Michelle Oravitz, where Angie goes into how to activate their purpose.

Only when people align with their life purpose can they live truly happy, more fulfilled lives and contribute to the greater good.

Going through deep healing, deep pain, deep introspection, learning lots of modalities, realizing that there is a significant purpose in helping people wake up to their purpose and doing their own more profound work, which many of us get to and say our late 30s to 50s.

My bigger belief about life’s purpose is that we always know it. Sometimes I like to call it emotional mud, you know, depending on how you look at it. But we’ve got lessons to learn and things to experience, preparation to get us ready for that big unveiling of what our purpose is.

You don’t have to believe in a specific word, but there’s something bigger than you, and that can influence your life. We are designed to expand and grow and heal, and that that’s all part of the process and their support for modules and the program that I work through. The first and the biggest one is understanding who you are and understanding what those hints have always been throughout your life.

I teach people how to do energy tools and manage their energy, and clear their fields in addition to the things that we all hear about all the time. So I want them to have various things that they can choose from to help keep themselves on track.

I would have never imagined I’d be doing the things that I’m doing. Energy management has come into the mainstream just in the last couple of years, so you hear people like Tony Robbins talking about managing your energy, and you see it in the news now, but they’re ancient techniques for mastering the body that is coming into the mainstream today. But managing our energy, an easy example would be, you know if you let’s say you had a disagreement with your sister and you’ve got a big project at work going on, but you can’t focus because you’re continuing to think about that disagreement. Energy management tools help us deal with those in a more objective way to take them out of our bodies and maybe put them on a shelf, or forgiveness is involved.

You want to manifest from a clear place where it’s the only place you can, you know, and you can manifest things that are not aligned for you or people. So, for example, you know where they are in a place of worry, and then they display that energy.

You know, if we feel like a victim and that things are always happening to us that are not so positive, then we’re just perpetuating that kind of a feeling. Life can be different from that. I’m sure all of us have been in that victim mentality at some point.

So being aware that that that’s how life works can give us a kick in the behind. So when you have been in that victim mentality, there’s almost like a very it’s very sticky energy.

The transitions are always complex once you’re in it. You know, you already know what you’re looking at, but it’s that unknown. And it’s not meant to be easy, you know because we are human. So I held a meditation, a free meditation every Wednesday, to help some folks and myself see the truth during the pandemic, that this is a further expansion of divine purpose and that the only way to change the world is to change ourselves.

Like some, some people are going to do massive things with their purpose. Now, I mean that in the highest sincerity, of course, we don’t want to do something masking pain or things like that.

You know, your joy, you know, stepping forward into that can change your life in itself.

Listen to the episode here to learn more about how you can activate your purpose.

A wise person once said, “Life is what you make it.” Well, generally speaking, it seems like we humans have chosen to make our lives complicated. Just take a look around you and study the average person. How do they conduct themselves in their daily lives? Do they seem genuinely happy, or stressed out? Do they seem like they have clarity or do they seem lost?

We all know the answers to these questions. And that is why there exist things like The Wheel of Life to help you navigate the journey of your life with grace and clarity. Before we talk about it in more detail, let’s first understand what it is.

The Wheel of Life

The wheel of life is a visual tool (essentially a diagram of a wheel) that represents the various aspects of human life like career, finances, relationships, spiritual development, etc. It allows a person to understand how balanced each area of their life is at a single glance. In doing so, they are able to gauge how satisfied they are with their lives and take corrective measures. This is the reason it is used extensively as a coaching tool. It makes things a lot easier both for the coach and the client.

How Is The Wheel of Life Used?

It’s quite simple really. The coach asks the client to go through each aspect of their life shown on the wheel (usually there are 8-10 categories). They are then asked to rate their level of satisfaction with each area of their life. This data is then mapped onto the wheel of life. If they have achieved balance and satisfaction in all areas of their life, the resultant diagram will look like a perfect circle (just as a wheel is supposed to be). If not, it will look like an imperfect circle and it would be clear that the journey of their life is a bumpy one.

Once the client has filled the wheel, the coach may want to dig deeper, especially for those areas where their level of satisfaction is low. The aim would be to get to the bottom of why they feel the way they do. Once the problem is established, the coach can then look for solutions and devise a plan of action for the client to get there.

In subsequent sessions, and after some time has passed, the client can fill the wheel of life again, and find out whether there are improvements. If things are working out, they can simply keep following the plan of action. If not, the coach can devise other creative ways to tackle the problem at hand. Ultimately, the wheel of life proves to be a powerful tool that can greatly enhance a person’s happiness, well-being, and contentment in life. And since it’s a simple method, literally anyone can use it!

I’ve long been interested in the deeper conversations that present themselves when we show up in an authentic, trusting and vulnerable way. For it’s these conversations that take us to more intimate connections where we are able to support each other at a place where we can truly be seen and to see each other. During the pandemic, I’ve heard so many coaching clients talking about a need for more relationships and closer friends. As we all know, staying home for over a year can really bring the things we are lacking into high focus, urging us to want them even more.

Successful women who are balancing a high stress job, managing children and sometimes parents, being in partnership with a spouse and trying to find time for themselves don’t always have time to think about finding friendship. The lists of things we yearn to do grows longer as there just isn’t time to fit everything in. We do our best and do what we can but sometimes it just feels so overwhelming to do anything outside of our normal routine. Get up, shower, eat, work, exercise, hug our loved ones, sleep. And then do it all again. Who has time to think about much else? Not too many.

I have always loved this quote.

“Women CAN have everything but not always at the same time”

It can be difficult to make new connections and friendships, especially those connections with like-minded folks who feel like our tribe. With that in mind, we bring you The Evolving Women’s Circle (EWC).

The Evolving Women’s Circle is a group for women interested in creating deeper connections to share in four basic tenets:

Friendship,

Inspiration,

Spirituality,

Creativity.

My dream for this group is that women will support each other in their quest for personal growth and interpersonal intimacy. Would you like a safe place where no topic is off limits and unconditional acceptance can arise with a lot of fun tossed in? Me too!

Here’s some information about the group. If you feel a connection, join us!

Before we talk about how to use The Emotional Guidance Scale, let’s first discuss what it is. According to Abraham Hicks, your emotional guidance is a scale of emotions ranging from positive emotions such as joy, appreciation, and love (the highest) to fear, despair and powerlessness (the lowest). This scale of emotions will help us identify where our vibration is…the closer we are to joy, the higher our vibration and the further we are from joy, the lower our vibration.

According to Abraham Hicks, here is the scale of emotions from highest to lowest…

Joy/Appreciation/Empowerment/Freedom/Love

Passion

Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness

Positive Expectation/Belief

Optimism

Hopefulness

Contentment

Boredom

Pessimism

Frustration/Irritation/Impatience

Overwhelment (feeling overwhelmed)

Disappointment

Doubt

Worry

Blame

Discouragement

Anger

Revenge

Hatred/Rage

Jealousy

Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness

Fear/Grief/Desperation/Despair/Powerlessness

So How Do We Use the Emotional Guidance Scale?
The emotional guidance scale is laid out to help us identify where we are at emotionally. If we are in a low place and want to feel better, it is important to first identify where we are at on the scale and second to give ourselves permission to climb the ladder and reach for a higher vibration. It is important to remember that it is impossible to jump to joy if you are in a state of feeling jealous, angry, or discouraged. So, give yourself grace as you climb upwards and allow yourself to feel every emotion as you move. If you force a feeling of joy, it will feel unauthentic and false and you will not be able to truly move.

Joy is the Ultimate State of Attraction
When we live in a state of joy, we attract what we desire. Think of it this way…we attract what we put out there. So, if we are living in a state of joy, we tend to attract happy people and positive experiences that match that vibration. However, if we are living in a state of jealousy, hatred, or anger, we will attract people and experiences that match that negative vibration. Ultimately, we choose who and what we attract by where we allow ourselves to stay on the emotional scale.

Have you ever heard of the phrase “you are the top five people you spend your time with?” This is true because we attract people who are vibrating at the same level that we are. So, look around and evaluate the people you spend the most time with. Where are they on the scale? Where are they vibrating? Do they uplift you? Do they spend their days serving others, lifting each other up? Or do they spend their time talking negatively about other people and their own experiences and lives?

How to Move Up the Emotional Scale
Ways to move up the scale include simple shifts like…

Remind yourself that even one step up is an improvement. One step a day turns into seven in a week very quickly. For example, instead of staying angry, try to move to being disappointed.

Spend more time doing practices like meditation, energy work, prayer, yoga, spending time in nature. Commit to at least 30 minutes per day.

Remember that growth is a process and that you will have good and bad days. This doesn’t mean you aren’t moving in the right direction.

Change the people you are spending your time with. When you spend time with people who are living in a state of joy (or close to it) it will help lift you up and remind you where you want to be.

Start practicing gratitude and shifting your thoughts from “why is this happening to me?” To “I am so grateful for the following things in my life…”

Serve others. When we start feeling like we are living far from joy, it helps to serve others. By doing something for someone else and focusing on other people’s needs, we take our energy and focus away from what we are missing and put it towards helping someone else. This naturally increases our vibration and helps us see beyond ourselves and our own lives.

Have fun! Another great way to get ourselves out of a “funk” and living at a higher vibration is by doing something that brings us joy. If you are having a rough day and feel like you can’t handle all the things, maybe it’s time to turn on music and have a dance party with your children. Or maybe fun for you is reading a book outside on your patio or plugging into music and going for a walk. Whatever brings you happiness or excitement, do that!

Remember, we manifest things all day long, even when we are not aware of it. We have the power to get to our highest purpose as long as we are taking inventory of our emotions and being mindful of moving towards joy.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, a motivational theory proposed by Abraham Maslow, suggests that there are five categories of needs that drive human behavior. Maslow presents his theory in a pyramid shape, with the most basic human needs at the bottom and the higher-level needs at the top. According to this theory, people can only achieve top level needs and real-life fulfillment when their basic (lower-level) needs are completely achieved.

The five levels, starting with the lowest are…

Physiological needs (air, water, food, shelter, sleep, clothing, and reproduction): the most basic level of needs includes things we all need for survival, such as food, water and adequate sleep and shelter. According to Maslow, these basic needs must be fully met for people to move to the next level of fulfillment.

Safety needs (personal security, employment, resources, health, property): this next level of basic human needs includes emotional, mental, and financial stability and security. Feeling safe motivates people to move forward and seek and achieve fulfillment at the next level.

Love and belonging (friendship, intimacy, family, and sense of connection): according to the hierarchy of needs, this is the last level of basic needs that every individual must adequately fulfill to move up and live a rich and full life. This level of love and belonging includes family bonds, deep rooted friendships built on trust and mutual interest, sexual and emotional intimacy with a partner or spouse and being part of a community of like-minded individuals (this can be being part of a sports team, being in a book club or being part of a networking group). Once a person feels like they have a sense of belonging and they have loving, trusting relationships, they can move up to the next level of human fulfillment.

Esteem needs (respect, self-esteem, status, recognition, strength, freedom): this is a higher need, according to Maslow, and involves confidence in self and a belief that you are valuable and worthy of love and respect. These needs are fulfilled when others acknowledge your capabilities and accomplishments and when you, yourself, feel confident in your own strengths and abilities.

Self-actualization (desire to become the most that one can be): the highest level of needs, according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, involves reaching and fulfilling your full potential as a person. These types of high-level needs include higher education, skill development, serving and caring for others, recognizing and developing your own personal talents, traveling the world to gain new experiences and learn from other people, and winning awards for sharing your talents.

Fulfilling Deficiency Needs to Get to Growth Needs

According to Maslow, the highest level of needs, self-actualization, is a “growth need,” which is completely separate from the first four levels which he calls “deficiency needs.” According to his theory, people that fail to adequately meet their deficiency needs will experience emotional and physical pain in their lives such as loneliness, depression, illness, and starvation. So, really we cannot jump to the highest level of fulfillment if we don’t first take care of our deficiency needs.

If we practice this theory, we can look at all the things that make up our deficiency needs and evaluate where we need to make adjustments. Where are we lacking? What can we do to make sure those needs are fully met and not just superficially met? For instance… Are we emotionally and financially stable? Do we have relationships where we feel valued, trusted and seen? Are we confident in our capabilities and know what our strengths are? Do we believe in ourselves and truly believe we are worthy of love and dignity?

Once we dig deep into the first four levels of hierarchy, we can determine what needs are and are NOT being fully met. Then it is up to us to do the work until each level is fulfilled. This can be uncomfortable, but until all these needs are met, we cannot rise to the highest level and truly grow into our full potential.

Are You Ready to Reach Your Highest Level?

If you are feeling movement, it is time to grow! Your life purpose is calling you and it is time to step into your growth and unlock your true potential.

The time is now my friends… let’s go!

As I’ve been spending time on coaching calls with some amazing millennial clients this week, I’ve been thinking about their paths and what brought them to reach out to make the first appointment with me. How did they get there and what prompted them to dig down for the courage to ask for help? The natural process of awakening to a bigger version of ourselves is somewhat methodical and predictable. We never see it that way when we’re in it. From my vantage point as a coach, it’s easier to recognise the patterns that rise up to get our attention. The invitations that life sends us to break out of unhappy routines and to step up to a happier, more joyful life of meaning are consistent. If we can open just a little to the concepts that we aren’t a victim to anything and that all life experiences are for us, then we can try to be a little more objective about the things happening in our lives.

This is easy for me to say because I am the onlooker, the witness, the mentor, the see’er, the alchemist, the one who’s held many hearts while they wiggle and squeeze out of the tiniest holes just like a baby chicken that can no longer stay in its shell because it’s gotten too big. The evolution of the egg, to baby chickie, to adult chicken is unquestionable.

We know this is a fact of life and we expect it to happen.

We even anticipate that it will and enjoy every growth step as we wait for the egg to crack and the happy little chick to emerge. We humans are the same and just like a baby chicken, we experience pain and discomfort when our “shells” get too small for our souls. We have to break out and move forward. We writhe and wiggle and get uncomfortable. We get confused and anxious. Something in our lives has come along to be our catalyst for growth but all we can recognize is the negative impact on us.

If we don’t make time to pay attention, the body gets more involved and helps us feel more uncomfortable and sometimes even ill so that we have no choice but to pay attention. We get anxious, depressed, our body starts to reject the foods we’ve eaten our whole lives. We have headaches, other aches and pains and have trouble sleeping. And so much more.

I’m wondering why this has to be such a surprise to us and such a painful process.

What if we knew that just like the chick inside an egg that our time for growth would arrive and what if we were taught in adolescence that a big event in our lives would be an indicator of our purpose breaking through? What if it was methodical and planned just not scheduled because “when” is the unknown?

As a parent, I wish to help my daughter avoid pain and discomfort whenever possible. I think most Gen X parents feel the same. But what if my biggest job as a parent (after loving and being present of course) is to train her for what’s coming down the line? To help remove the stigma around the pain of awakening and the call to grow? “Hey honey, somewhere down the line, a big event is going to happen to make you question what you’ve learned so far in life. Once that event occurs, you’ll be able to open this magic book of instructions. Just say the secret password.”

How would things be different for my lovely clients if their parents had the wisdom to speak to them in such terms?

Maybe they would be ahead of the game a little or maybe they wouldn’t have listened. We don’t know. What I do know is that these kids (kids to me but really younger adults) might have a chance to do that for their kiddos. I know this because we are moving into a time of higher levels of consciousness than ever before and in my heart I know things will be different. How do I know? I know because I see so many people doing the work to clear their baggage and let their hearts shine. This allows them to step into higher levels of their purpose and live a more impactful life just because of who they become. When we change ourselves, we change the world….one answer to The Call to Grow at a time.

Once again, I’m wondering….

What content would we include in a magical book of instructions? Here’s a few things I’d be sure to include.

A book that helps them understand who they are. I would include pragmatic things like personality assessments, a family tree of details about their ancestors including profession, vices, ailments and talents and a list of the things they’ve always loved and disliked. I’d also include those esoteric things like astrology readings, numerology reports and maybe a psychic reading just for fun.

A step-by-step guide to how to take care of themself now that their great growth moment has arrived including a big toolbox of practices and rituals for them to use from.

A list of possible hints that the time for their Call to Grow has arrived. The list would include bodily ailments and an explanation of the most likely emotional tie in that needs their attention.

A guide to help them form or add to their tribe so that they are supported and loved by a sangha of people who understand what’s happening and can be their safety net as they morph and change.

Some sacred jewelry, stones, mallas, beads, sage, palo santo and a big empty journal.

A bottle of magic elixir for them to sip on the days that were more challenging. (Maybe this would have to be a paloma or a kombucha but hey, the power of suggestion can be very impactful even from a placebo….and the bottle could look like it came from a great wizard).

A personal note from me reassuring them this is your right of passage and just like so many before you, you’ll be okay. I’d include all my love and best wishes.

That’s my first pass of ideas. What would you include that maybe I’ve forgotten?

It’s really fun to imagine that society might actually work this way again. Many cultures had some version of this coming of age process long ago. We’ve disconnected from rituals and sacred ceremonial actions where one generation fosters the growth of another. I wonder how quickly our culture will build this back into our regime. Quickly I hope.

Now that I’ve pondered what gifts we could give to our children and I look back over this list. I’m prompted to ask…

How many of you are ready to give this gift to yourself?

The time is now.

A bigger version of your life is waiting for you to step up and unfold it.

Let’s go!

About The Prospecting Show and Dr. Connor Robertson

Each week Dr. Robert Connor interviews small business owners, salespeople and health professionals who excel in their field. He created The Prospecting Show to help listeners that are seeking to hone their message, reach their perfect audience and explain what they do.

Episode 122: The Pillars of Your Purpose with Angie Swartz

In the episode, The Pillars of Your Purpose, Dr. Connor interviews Angie and asks her about her specific style of coaching and how it can help entrepreneurs looking to shift gears and grow their businesses. She talks about her own personal career path and journey, how she became a life coach, and how she uses her own experiences to help others find their life purpose and true happiness.

“Things started happening and doors started opening and I started opening them,” Angie told Dr. Connor. “I coach clients one on one by choice, I teach courses and I am in the middle of launching an online school with five classes that I really love…On top of that I am writing a book.”

Angie and Dr. Connor talk about how Covid is affecting people in their careers and forcing them to change their lives because they have no choice. Angie points out that with the forced isolation, very successful people are starting to realize that they haven’t spent time building relationships or true friendships because they have been so busy with their heads down in their work.

She says the pandemic is making people want to make changes and movements in their lives and their careers to find true happiness. They then talk about how Angie’s work helps people make the necessary changes in their lives and careers.

Angie’s Nonlinear Coaching Approach

Dr. Connor talks about how most coaching is very linear. He points out that Angie gives people all aspects of life and business coaching together in one piece. She touches on how she pulls from her business background and her spiritual background to help people reach a holistic, happy life.

“You can improve all you want in your career,” Angie says. “But if you haven’t dealt with the other sides of your life, you’re eventually going to fail on that side because you’re not going to be holistically built to be happy.”

Dr. Connor talks about how this non-linear holistic approach can really help entrepreneurs and people seeking change. He also talks about how it can help listeners who are ready to advance their careers and enrich their lives.

Angie tells Dr. Connor that one of her favorite things to do is coach people who are ready to leave their corporate careers and focus on their side hustle.

She talks about her new online training program and coaching. “All of my coaching programs have four basic modules that we work through,” she says.

She talks about the modules and how they all have an underlying premise that there is something bigger out there helping us along. After that underlying premise there is “know thyself,” “practicing daily rituals” (creating daily practice to help you be more present), “transforming the body” (transforming your body to make decisions), and “being mindful” (paying attention to the messages that are coming in all around you).

Aligning with Your Real-Life Purpose

Angie also talks about how she loves to help people align with their real-life purpose. She says she believes that everyone knows what their purpose is deep down and that we must go through experiences to realize what that is. Dr. Connor and Angie discuss how people are often being pulled to where they want to go, and eventually, they make a purposeful change.

Angie’s biggest advice for entrepreneurs and people desiring to grow their own business is to delegate so they can focus on the part of their business they love to do. First thing is to hire an accountant, she says. And then, think about what your business team should look like. If you don’t have the money to do that, get creative! She recommends trading services, hiring interns, and using other creative strategies to create a team of people to help. She says if you don’t put a team together to help your business grow, you will always be stuck.

Angie Swartz is a Featured Guest on William Brown’s Podcast One Word Conversations and they Talk about Goals and What it Means to Set and Achieve Them

One Word Conversations EP 286: “Goals” with Angie Swartz

Angie Swartz, Executive Life, Career, and Business Coach and the host of Life Purpose Advisor, is a guest on William Brown’s podcast One Word Conversations. In this episode of One Word Conversations, they dive into the idea of goal setting and what it means to bring them to fruition.

About One Word Conversations and Host William Brown

Each day William Brown, the host of One Word Conversations, has a conversation with a guest on a ONE-word topic so they can get to know each other better, strengthen their relationship, and inspire listeners with their unique perspectives. He created One Word Conversations to inspire individuals to explore and experience a deeper understanding and grace for themselves as well as those around them.

William is an accomplished keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, breakout leader and podcast guest. He is the author of Beyond the Shell “Finding You Beyond What Protects You,” “The Journey to Stay You,” “Finding Unicorns” and Living Beyond Your Labels “Creating a Practice that Honors You, Others and Your Contribution to Social change.”

“Goals” With Angie Swartz

In this episode, the conversation starts with Angie sharing the definition of the word goal which is: the object of a person’s ambition or efforts; an aim or desired result. She then talks about what this means and how our desires relate to setting goals.

They talk about how if we get connected to the energy of our desires, we can set goals based on our desires and what feelings come with achieving those goals or desires.

Goals should be “lines in the sand” says Angie. We should understand that if we set goals and do not meet them, we can reevaluate and set new goals. They talk about how goal setting is difficult for many people because it is attached to a fear of failure to meet them. But when Angie talks about looking at goals as desires it makes complete sense.

Desires, Angie says, create thoughts, which create words, which create actions. So, if we have a desire sitting in our heart to do something or accomplish something, what would be the steps we should take to bring this desire to fruition?

According to Angie, we must start with a desire and manifestation for moving ourselves forward. She says we must first change on the spiritual and mental planes and then we can manifest those desires and “goals.”

Connecting with the Work that Needs to Be Done to Manifest Our Goals

William and Angie talk about what it means to manifest our desires and “goals.” They talk about the importance of letting go of the baggage we have tied to the word “goals” and becoming connected to the work that needs to be done. If we connect with the work that needs to be done, then we can find the appropriate tools necessary to get there.

What Do People Love about Goal Setting? And What is the Thing about Goal Setting that Makes People Cringe?

Angie and William talk about the good and the bad of goal setting. They talk about how the evil of goal setting is follow through. Angie talks about how everyone is excited about setting goals and going places in their lives, but it’s the act of follow through and accountability that is the hard part.

She also talks about the good part of goal setting and says that it gives people hope that good things are coming. Especially now during the pandemic, hope is important. She talks about being realistic with our goals and the importance of asking ourselves truthfully – what do I need to do to get to my goals? We should also ask ourselves, who can I turn to for help?

She talks about how the biggest part of meeting our goals and rising up is who we allow in our personal support network or our “personal board of directors,” because these are the people we trust with growing into the best version of ourselves through setting goals and moving forward to pursue our desires.

They also talk about the accountability piece of goal setting and how the act of setting goals is much more than a statement. It is the actual actions we need to take that will allow us to manifest these goals.

Angie Swartz and Goal Setting Courses

Angie has been teaching goal-setting courses for more than 15 years. She is now teaching them online. Her courses dive into goal setting and include weekly meditations and exercises. Her big mission for teaching these classes is centered on her belief that “when we change ourselves and grow, we truly change the world.”
