First Aid is a very important skill for people to learn. Knowing how to deal with accidents and injuries can make the difference between life and death. It may take a few minutes for an ambulance to arrive at the scene of an accident, and a first aider can do wonders in that time.

There are many first aid courses available today, and doing a course could save a person’s life. First Aid courses will teach you basic skills that may prove to be vital. One of the most important skills that a person can learn is to open somebody’s airway. If a person has a blocked airway, chances are that they may not survive until the ambulance gets there unless someone enables them to breathe. CPR and mouth to mouth resuscitation are also important. Secondary care can also be of interest, and teaches you how to treat burns, cuts, scrapes, and broken bones.

Today however, the mobile phone technology is so far advanced that soon, you could be using your phone for just about anything. Popular mobile phone giant Nokia has developed a system whereby you can control your home heating from your phone. If you are running late and want your house to be warm when you come in; you can adjust the temperatures from your car on the way back. Nokia has plans to incorporate a complete Home control Centre on their mobile phones, so that you can control not only heating, but lights and appliances as well.

The phone industry is rapidly changing, as people want to do more and more with their mobiles all the time. Only a decade or so ago, text messages did not exist, but today are a commonplace occurrence. Emailing through mobiles has also become an everyday task, and it won’t be long before consumers will expect even further advancement in the technology.

Our mental health is vital to our well-being; and more often than not, being mentally well will prevent a lot of physical illnesses from occurring. Mental and physical health often go hand-in-hand; with one triggering the other. When we start to worry and fret about things, our bodies often become affected, and we may get ill as a side effect. Making an effort to stay psychologically healthy is therefore very important, and there are several things that you can do to ensure that you stay that way.

One of the most important things to do is to make sure that you do not bottle things up. Keeping problems and worries to yourself is one of the worst things that you can do, and will often trigger severe side effects including illness, insomnia and headaches. If there is something on your mind; talk to a friend or a family member to get advice. If you do not have someone to talk to, enlisting the help of a professional is an option, or simply writing things down to get it off your chest.

To stay mentally healthy, you need to also keep physically fit. Make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet, and that you drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. You will want to stay active, and try to do at least a little bit of exercise every day. Spend time outdoors as much as you can. Walking in a park or on the beach is great not only for your physical well-being but for your state of mind as well. Spend and enjoy time with friends and family, and make sure that you also enjoy some quality time on your own.

Ever wanted to get away from it all? To just laze away your days on a beautiful and remote tropical paradise? The Tuamotu Islands are located in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, and is an out-of-the-way paradise with a lot to offer visitors. The islands retain natural beauty and landscapes which have thus far seen a lack of tourist-related development, and there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied.

The Tuamotu Islands boast spectacular white-sand beaches and clear turquoise-blue waters which are exceptional for swimming and snorkelling. Sightseeing tours of the islands are available; from the sea or from the sky. There are several archaeological sites on the islands which are worth a visit, as well as numerous pearl farms, art galleries, markets and lagoons. Sunset cruises and glass bottom boats can be found on the island, and offer perfect relaxing days out.

When going on a family holiday, it is important that you plan things accordingly. There may be hundreds of places that you are interested in visiting, but will it be a suitable destination for a young child? Choosing the right destination is of the utmost importance, and you will need to look at places that will be fun for everyone. There are a lot of places that offer great deals and discounts for families travelling with young children, so you may want to look out for these.

Many hotels offer great deals, such as free accommodation or free meals for children under a certain age. This is a great way to save money on your holiday abroad. Many resorts also offer childcare facilities, so you may want to look into this as well.

When travelling with children, make sure that you bring with you loads of things to keep them occupied. You may want to bring colouring books or puzzle books so that they will have something to do. When booking flights for your family, it would be a good idea to book seats in the middle of the flight, or aisle seats with easy access in and out. With a little bit of planning, the entire family will have a great holiday!

Several different schemes are occurring all over the country, ranging from smaller twenty household schemes up to the larger schemes involving half a million households.

Several of the do-it yourself broadband schemes are being planned with the help of the council, in laying fibre to the homes of people who want a fast broadband connection. The councils are often willing to assist in the laying of fibre networks, with some money being donated by the European Social Fund. Other areas are doing it by themselves; tired of waiting for the bigger operators to get it to them. Bigger operators will have to work with the community based projects, and are currently planning on investing money in fibre networks all over the country, as well as upgrading their cable networks.

Similarly, when we got a hole in our jeans, we would head down to the shop and buy a new pair. Whereas this may have been our behaviour a few months ago, the ongoing recession is changing many things about the way we behave. Economising is today the name of the game, and the end of our throw-away culture is near.

The recession is teaching many of us to repair things as opposed to throwing them away. If a t-shirt has a tiny hole in it; fixing it is quicker, easier and cheaper than going out to buy a new one. Saving money is important these days, as uncertainty about the economy looms over us. Households all over the country are mending their ways, and going back to the good old ways of our grandparents. No longer can we afford to simply throw things away, but are now becoming inspired to do things ourselves. Styles are slowly changing as people are opting to learn to sew and knit in a bid to save money. Re-using old clothes to make frames or patch-work quilts has now become the in thing to do in our new repair-and-fix it culture.

BMI is often used by doctors all over the world during medical examinations in order to figure out if the patient is classified as clinically obese or not. Carrying too much fat on your body can cause all kinds of health problems, including heart disease and stroke. So, what is the body mass index and how can we work it out?

You can calculate your BMI by dividing your weight in kilograms, by your height in metres squared. You will then get a figure which can be used on a BMI chart to figure out if you are underweight, ideal or overweight. It can give you a good idea about your figure, but may not be accurate if you are athletic and have a lot of muscles. Muscles weigh more than fat and may push up your BMI and portray you as overweight even if you are not.

Are you considering booking yourself on a holiday this year? Are you on a budget and are hoping to find a good deal on flights? There are many ways to find cheap flights and you should start doing your research soon. There is no one single cheap airline, so you will want to shop around and see what deals each company has on offer. If possible, you may want to look online instead of solely relying on a travel agent. Although travel agents can easily search prices and flights for you, they do not always look through the cheaper flights.

If at all possible, you will want to be flexible with your dates and times of travel. Flying mid-week is often much cheaper than flying over the weekend. It may be cheaper to fly from a different airport as well, so always have a look at all the options. If the airport is a little bit further away, make sure that you account for travelling costs to and from the airport to ensure that you are still getting a good deal.

When comparing flights on the internet, make sure that you are accounting for all the taxes as well. These may not be immediately obvious, so you will want to make sure that these are accounted for. Consider each airline carefully. Although one flight may be a little bit cheaper than another, it may not offer all the benefits. With so many low-cost airlines about these days, many of the bigger companies have been forced to cut costs and become more competitive which may be worth it for long haul flights.

The kitchen is often referred to as the heart of the home; where all your meals and dinners are created. Regardless of whether you have a large or a small kitchen, there is nothing worse than working in a disorganised room where nothing is easily found. Everything should be at hand and easily accessible to make cooking fun and enjoyable. Utilising any space that is available is therefore a great way to make your kitchen a great place to be.

Making the most out of the walls is a great idea, and you can easily set up some form of holding rack for many of your tools. This way any knives or ladles would be easy to grab a hold of when you need them. If you do not have enough drawer space, then this is a great solution to keep things tidy and accessible. Brightly decorated holders for other utensils also keeps things looking neat, and will keep your kitchen organised. You will be amazed at how much more fun it is to cook when you know exactly where everything is.

If you keep a lot of recipes and clippings in the kitchen, it may be a good idea to laminate them. This will save them getting messy as you are cooking, and they are easily wiped off. Spice racks can be used for other items as well to save on space, and can look nice at the same time. Even with a small kitchen, there are always ways to keep the heart of the home tidy and clean.

Back pain is one of the most common reasons that people are off work. It can be very painful and may last anywhere from a couple of days up to six weeks. Main causes of back pain are bad posture and torn or stretched ligaments or muscles. Although people suffering from back problems typically want to lie down and avoid moving, this is generally the worst thing that you can do. It is important to keep active, as keeping still will only make your muscles weaker and more painful in the long run.

The best thing that you can do for back pain is to keep moving and take painkillers if necessary. Strengthening your leg, back and stomach muscles is a great way to keep your back in good working order, and you can do this by taking exercise classes and remaining active. Yoga and Pilates are just two great techniques to keeping your back healthy.

When at work, it is important to maintain your posture. If you slouch when sitting at a desk all day, this may aggravate your back. Sitting comfortably, as well as frequently getting up to stretch are important to avoid back aches. There are many simple things that you can do to keep your back healthy, and doing them will ensure that you do not suffer the agony of back pain.

Both children and adults love to roast marshmallows on bonfires while sitting under starry nights. The atmosphere of adventure is heightened when they also sleep inside sleeping bags or camping tents. But why suffer back pains from sleeping on hard grounds? There are fabulous camping sites that offer both the comfort and the adventure of camping.

Rambagh Palace. Patterned after a 16th-century Mughal encampment, these two spa suite tents are found in Jaipur’s Taj Hotels. Guests will experience India’s royalty camping ways when they stay inside billowing pavilions, furnished with handwoven carpets, royal pennants, and love swings made from salvaged shesham wood. Designers are husband-and-wife Amit and Shalini Gehlot.

One & Only Le Saint Geran. This is a beach teepee (erected on a Mauritius Beach) with the height of 17 feet and decorated with ribbons, beads, and embroidered designs so that it will look like a glistening jewelry box in the sands–which is intended by the designer Alice Temperley. Guests will experience cookouts by the tent, even roasting marshmallows. Food is served by a liveried butler.

Miraval Tucson Resort & Spa. Located in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert, guests are pampered with spa treatments in any one of six new tents, which are designed by Clodagh. The tents are surrounded by paloverde trees in a botanical garden and are furnished with stone flooring, acacia bench, and walled with saguaro and ocotillo cacti.

Lemarti’s Camp. This is a 5-tent camp located on platforms above a river bend near Kenya’s Laikipia Plateau. The tents are made of hand-stitched loomed cotton, and are furnished with wooden tables and beds. Interior decorations consist of crocodile skulls, elephant shoulder blades, and clubs and walking sticks with bead works.

Banjaar Tola. This a safari lodge with 18 tent suites, located in the midst of bamboo forests of Madhya Pradesh, which is just a 4-hour drive from Jabalpur.
Your Own Backyard. It will not matter where you go camping, as long as your whole family is camping together. Set up a tent inside your own backyard and lit a small bonfire in front so everyone can roast their own marshmallows. If you did not have a backyard, then go to the nearest beach or riverbanks. You don’t have to buy your own camping gears because there are places where you can rent them out. Don’t forget to bring big jugs of clean water, medicines, and batteries.
