More “Medfield” Details, Specs Leaked

As we previously discussed, Intel is in the middle of preparing to release their new 32nm processing chip called Medfield. This chip will compete directly with other mobile processors such as Apple’s A-Series and NVIDIA’s Tegra processor. This is the first true System on Chip (SoC) design built for mobile devices and looks to pose quite a threat amongst it’s competitors.

Luckily for those of us who cannot wait, VR-Zone is reporting the first benchmark scores of the “Medfield Tablet Platform“. The platform consists of an Android Honeycomb tablet with an x86 processor core running at 1.6GHz and 1GB of RAM.

So what are the scores you ask?

Using Android’s benchmarking tool Caffeinemark 3, the Medfield scored an impressive 10500. Compared with the Tegra 2 score of 7500, the Snapdragon MSM8260 score of 8000 and the Samsung Exynos score of 8500, Intel scored quite well.

Benchmarks are unfortunately just benchmarks however so it will remain to be seen how Medfield will fare in real world testing. Power consumption would trump processing ability hands down so we’ll stay tuned for the official release of this exciting new chip from Intel.

We’re going to slide in one more video to end the week! Speaking for myself, this is the most anticipated movie of next year. Not The Avengers…not the new Underworld…not even Men In Black 3.

The Dark Knight Rises is the finale of a wonderful round of Christopher Nolan renditions of this comic-based hero. Anne Hathaway will be playing Catwoman and Tom Hardy will be playing Bane, while a third (SPOILER ALERT) possible villain in Marion Cotillard’s character Miranda Tate will also appear.

As the week winds down, it’s always fun to wander about the interwebs for some entertainment. This week we have come across a Star Wars flash mob that took place in Times Square. This is a marketing stunt for the Star Wars: The Old Republic game which was just released. What starts off as characters in full costume from both sides of the force engaging in a lightsaber duel is suddenly enveloped by a bunch of plain clothed onlookers armed with their own lightsabers. The fight doesn’t ever take place though as the “mob” freezes in fighting position until a predetermined time passes in which they all just leave like nothing happened. Surprisingly Howie Mandel was not available for questions after the event.

Buffer Launches iPhone App

For any of you not in the know, Buffer is an awesome service that helps you share anything via Twitter on a pre-set schedule and sends them out automatically. Their web browser plugin is by far the easiest sharing tool you can find. It easily integrates with Google Reader as well so while you are reading a story, you simply click the Buffer plugin icon and the title and link to the article are all right there to send out immediately or on a pre-set schedule.

Today Buffer finally comes to the iPhone with the same simplicity as it’s current web app.

You can manage your Buffered tweets right on your device as well as add new ones. You can look at your tweets that were already sent out and view the analytics as in how many clicks you received and your reach at the time. You can also install the bookmarklet to Safari for easy queuing of your mobile browsing shares.

As for the iPad version? Joel Gascoigne, co-founder of Buffer, tweeted:

“it’s just for iPhone right now but we’re excited to start building for iPad too ”

If you haven’t tried Buffer yet, there is no better time than today to get signed up. If you have already experienced Buffer on the web and you have an iPhone, get over to the App Store now and get your Buffer on!

Buffer – App Store
