Cricket video…finally

Well, it’s only taken about a month and a half, but I have finally finished my cricket vlog entry. Not that it’s anything special, I just couldn’t find the time to actually sit down and edit it.

Anyway, this is a video journal of my trip to Minneapolis, Minn., on Sunday, Aug. 2, to check out the final day of the USACA’s Western Conference Cricket Championship at Bryn Mawr Meadows. It’s an absolutely beautiful venue for cricket, with an amazing backdrop of the Minneapolis skyline and some neat features (the railway running along one side of the ground is especially endearing). The event was hosted by the Minnesota Cricket Association, who did a fantastic job despite some controversy.

Rough week…

Well, it’s been a bit of a rough week. Car broke down today, adding more to the plate. That’s all right, though. I’ve got family, music and The Ashes to get me through!

I’m hoping to go to a cricket tournament in Minneapolis, MN on Sunday for a national championship game of some sort. I’ll have to post the link tomorrow. Just a teaser, but I’m hoping to make my trip my next podcast episode.

Until then, sit back and check out a two songs and videos that always put a smile on my face: “All In” by The Grouch and Eligh, and “Chelsea Dagger” by my favorite Glaswegians, The Fratellis.

Alright, so I have yet to write a “real” blog post; but hey, I’m trying to move a house, a wife and three kids here. Anyway, I’m still catching up on all of the past episodes of The Bugle podcast. If you want a slightly twisted (okay, forget the slightly part) view of world politics, this is your podcast. Think “The Daily Show” with a healthy dose of irreverent Python-esque humor, thrown together in a blender and set to purée.

For today’s musical choice, I’m going with something a tiny bit subdued; yet, it still packs quite a political punch. This song speaks softly and carries a big stick–”The Fiddle and the Drum” by A Perfect Circle.

High School Musical–or not

I just realized I probably should have used the Flip cam to get some video of the kids playing “High School Musical” on the PS2, but oh well. Maybe next time.

Got lots of packing to do tomorrow. We have done a decent job, but have about half the house to go. Big job tomorrow is to get Sam’s bed taken down and to move a ton of boxes into the garage. I also need to go through my clothes and sort some into the Goodwill pile.

Not a particularly fantastic day today. Dee and I had another row, which is pretty common for a Saturday. I need to find something to do on Saturdays, because it’s starting to get ridiculous.

Anyway…music of the day choice? Fittingly, “Schism” by what is probably the most intelligent (musically speaking) heavy metal band to date, Tool.

Well, our realtor is an absolute f^&*ing disgrace. Thanks to her incompetence, and what I would term as negligence, we may now have to push back closing on our houses (selling and buying) for two weeks–if it happens at all. What an absolute joke. This person gets paid how much? And for what? She didn’t return any calls for more than two weeks, and has still never made contact with our buyer’s agent for our new house.

In light of that, and a laundry list of other real estate atrocities, today’s song–”Karma Police” by Radiohead–is dedicated to our realtor.

It’s also one of my favorite videos of all time–another good reason to share.
