I told you this month was busy

(and it is.)

I didn't tell you that a lot of big

(and not really good)

things are going on this month.

Tonight, at 10:04 PM my Dad called to say good night.

I was discouraged about a few things, and I cried.

Before I knew what was happening,

my Mom was on the phone.

She said my Dad had just left.

He came over to see us.

At 10:24 he came in the house.

(It takes me about 40 minutes to get to their farm.)

He came in and he told us how much he loved us.

He gave us some hugs.

He made everything better.

I know I have told you before and

I know I will say it again,

but I really have the very best Dad in the whole world.

I hope you have one too.

Yum Yum Donuts Kids Night Out

Yum Yum Donuts is a great local bakery.
Kaish and Shoshi and I went to a kids night a couple of years ago.
Jonathon has been asking to go ever since.
We almost always forget on Wednesdays, but last week we remembered on time.

The truth is:

I have 3 interviews I need to post and a myriad of other posts I simply must do for the blog.

I used to be good at getting posts up regularly.

Not anymore.

I have a wedding reception pictures to edit,

a tea party,

2 family sessions,

and a Birthday Party.

Pictures out the wazoo!

The truth is:

My real job has an excessive amount of paperwork...and basically,

(is today the 18th of May?)

I haven't done it since the last day of April.

Oh. My. Good. Heavens.

I hope I don't get fired!

The truth is:

I have to do mom stuff,

Like fold the bazillion pieces of laundry on top of the washer.

Seriously.

Bazillion is not an exaggeration.

I don't think I have done that since the last day of April either.

I would take a picture,

but it would make you cry.

The truth is:

I hope you have a happy weekend and you do not have to edit a gazillion pictures, do massive amounts of paperwork OR fold laundry until you are blue in the face. Even if you do have to do all those things, I hope you have joy, because life is beautiful. It is beautiful when the laundry mountain is growing. It is beautiful when paperwork looms. It is always, always beautiful.

I don't know if I have ever met a little girl quite like Isabella.

She was a whirlwind of energy and happiness.

Her family zipped into Philadelphia one day for their photo shoot.

They weren't sure if the baby would be fussy.

She had just recently become mobile and she was still nursing.

Nina wasn't sure if the outfits would all work together.

Did she coordinate everyone enough?

Would anybody smile, she wondered?

Well, guess what?

Smiles were ever present.

Happy little girl. Check.

Happy baby. Check.

Happy everyone!

Check, Check, CHECK!

The shoot went off without a hitch.

And what do we have to show for it?

Lots and lots of love.

Mommy and Daddy love.

Sister love.

Family love.

Just about every kind of love you can imagine was present that afternoon.

What a beautiful family you have Nina and Jeremy.

May your love continue to grow.

When I was young I wanted to grow up to be

A myriad of occupations floated through my mind,

I wanted to grow up and be a Mommy.

I wanted to be a Mom because of the Mom God gave to me.

My Mom is nothing short of amazing.

She is kind and good and loving.

She is calm and peaceful and sweet.

She is the very best person I have ever encountered.

I thank God every single day for her.

She is a blessing.

The Creativity Project Take 2 Featuring Double Exposure

It's the tenth! It's the tenth! It's the tenth!

Scarlett is in charge of our themes for our monthly Creativity Project.

When she said she thought a double exposure picture would be nice, I thought she was a little off her rocker.

I don't really understand layers in photoshop.

They confuse me.

But....I love Scarlett and I adore our Monthly Circle

so I tried something new.

It was fun.

I heart faces is only once a month now.

I miss it.

I really like girls.

Making a Difference {Miss Joan} Doylestown Hospital Volunteer

If you are are lucky enough to have your baby on a Monday at Doylestown Hospital,

you will get to meet the one and only, Miss Joan.

She bustles onto the maternity floor each Monday for her noon to 4 PM shift.

Miss Joan was in the fashion industry in NYC for 40 years before retiring to Doylestown.

You can tell right away when you meet her that she is a fashionista.

Her rings and earrings are always flashy!

They outshine her turquoise volunteer smock,

but they never outshine her million dollar smile.

And that smile?

It comes bursting right out along with her ruby red lipstick.

Miss Joan and her friends knit these precious little newborn hats for all Monday babies.

She takes time to add special details to each hat.

Miss Joan never had any children.

She gets all her snuggles and love in each Monday afternoon with the babies.

Thank you for making a difference Miss Joan.

You make the world a more beautiful place.

Jen & Dom {Love Forever} Merry Christmas Wedding

Jen and Dom.

Their story is like a lot of stories.

A lot of stories where the boy meets the girl and falls madly, truly, deeply in love.

They had much to overcome on their way to the alter.

They knew that their love was worth it though.

With their daughters and families surrounding them,

Jen and Dom committed their lives to each other

until the end of time.

Their day was special.

Simple and sweet.

Wishing you a beautiful forever.

I am humbled.

Jen's Dad had to work after the ceremony so he was not able to join us for photographs. Jen's Mom took the wonderful picture of Jen and her Dad. She also shared a picture of Shannon and her Pop Pop for Jen's wedding album.

Shortly after the wedding, Jen's dad passed.

Jen is thankful she was able to get married with her Dad by her side. He is in heaven today.

I love taking pictures.

I can hardly go a day without it.

This week I have heard a lot of photographers talking about picture taking.

I have seen some critiquing.

I have read some articles.

I have agonized over the many, many mistakes that are in every image I produce.

And here is what I learned:

I don't care if I take perfect pictures.

I don't care if a photographer looks at my picture and finds mistakes.

I don't.
I mean, honestly, if a photographer wants to stare at my pictures,
I can let them know before they even start that there will be abundant errors
in each and every image.

What I care about more than anything is providing images that show life.

I am not going to photoshop every picture I have to perfection.

I am going to keep shooting and hopefully capture the beauty of life.

That's all I have to say about that.

Happiness + A Blue Rose

A BLUE ROSE: Having four visiting family members, my wife was very busy, so I offered to go to the store for her to get some needed items, which included light bulbs, paper towels, trash bags, detergent and Clorox. So off I went. I scurried around the store, gathered up my goodies and headed for the checkout counter, only to be blocked in the narrow aisle by a young man who appeared to be about sixteen-years-old.

I wasn't in a hurry, so I patiently waited for the boy to realize that I was there. This was when he waved his hands excitedly in the air and declared in a loud voice, "Mommy, I'm over here." It was obvious now, he was mentally challenged and also startled as he turned and saw me standing so close to him, waiting to squeeze by. His eyes widened and surprise exploded on his face as I said, "Hey Buddy, what's your name?" "My name is Denny and I'm shopping with my mother," he responded proudly. "Wow," I said, "that's a cool name; I wish my name was Denny, but my name is Steve." "Steve, like Stevarino?" he asked. "Yes," I answered. "How old are you Denny?" "How old am I now, Mommy?" he asked his mother as she slowly came over from the next aisle. "You're fifteen-years-old Denny; now be a good boy and let the man pass by."

I acknowledged her and continued to talk to Denny for several more minutes about summer, bicycles and school. I watched his brown eyes dance with excitement, because he was the center of someone's attention. He then abruptly turned and headed toward the toy section. Denny's mom had a puzzled look on her face and thanked me for taking the time to talk with her son. She told me that most people wouldn't even look at him, much less talk to him. I told her that it was my pleasure and then I said something I have no idea where it came from, other than by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I told her that there are plenty of red, yellow, and pink roses in God's Garden; however, "Blue Roses" are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness.

You see, Denny is a Blue Rose and if someone doesn't stop and smell that rose with their heart and touch that rose with their kindness, then they've missed a blessing from God. She was silent for a second, then with a tear in her eye she asked, "Who are you?" Without thinking I said, "Oh, I'm probably just a dandelion, but I sure love living in God's garden." She reached out, squeezed my hand and said, "God bless you!" and then I had tears in my eyes.

May I suggest, the next time you see a BLUE ROSE, whichever differences that person may have, don't turn your head and walk off. Take the time to smile and say Hello. Why? Because, by the grace of GOD, this mother or father could be you. This could be your child, grandchild, niece, nephew or any other family member. What a difference a moment can mean to that person or their family. Shared with me by Ron Hartz
