Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!!

Wow, can you believe how completely crazy this Christmas season has been and how this year has totally flown by. I know they say as you get older that the years just hurtle past, but this is simply ridiculous. It seems like yesterday that 2009 began and here we are about to celebrate it’s end. It truly is a busy time of year.

The studio is now closed until 4th January, 2009 and I just want to take a moment to let all of my lovely clients know how thankful I am that they trust me to capture their family’s moments, laughter and love in images. I still just want to pinch myself when I think how lucky I am to have this amazing job. Even when some days are busy and I’m tired, I wouldn’t change a thing, I love what I do and I love my clients, esp my little ones.

As always, I would like to finish off the year with a slideshow sharing with you the love and beauty I have had the pleasure to capture this year. I’m looking forward to spending Christmas with my husband’s family, my father-in-law is not very well and we are very grateful that we will be together for this special celebration. The children have been to see Santa and we have made gingerbread men and sung Christmas carols and read Christmas stories every night and watched a Christmas movie (or 20, hehe). So I guess you could say we are ready for the big red fat man to climb down our chimney.

May your Festive Season be filled with good food & drink, friends and family, the laughter of your children, the joy of knowing your many blessings, lots of love but most importantly, good health.

The longest lashes {newborn photographer canberra}

Okay so I know I have been the worst blogger over the past few weeks. So much going on professionally and personally, all very exciting and promising for a wonderful 2010. All of this has meant I haven’t had time for blogging so I thought I better quickly jump in with these images. Mum and dad are viewing their gallery as we speak (I’m excited for them) and I just had to share this new bub with you.

It is no secret if you have been reading my blog for a while that I am obsessed with eyes and lashes and a good set of either on a little client sends me into a swoon. And it always amazes me that the boys always seem to have the longest lashes. What a cruel trick to play on us women, to give the men the good lashes. Men who probably don’t care about lashes, and women who are completely obsessed from the age of 14 onwards with creating the longest lashes. It is definitely a cruel twist of fate.

However these lashes suited little L so much that I can’t be jealous, just happy that I got to capture them…

And look at his cool rockin hair do…it looks like he’s spent the morning at the hairdressers to get such a perfect “do”.

And here is big sister. She took a little while to warm to me (which was very distressing because I need all of my little ones to love me, hehe) but in the end I managed to capture a few smiles and whilst she didn’t want to take me home with her at the end of the session, she did wave as they drove away so I guess that was progress, hahaha.

Olivia’s Christmas Party {newborn photography canberra}

This past weekend saw the Dancing Diva have her end of year dancing concerts. It was 4 concerts over 2 days and although it was pretty hectic at times, lots of quick changes for all of the girls, changing hairstyles in seconds, amazing dancing, proud mummies and many tears, it was wonderful to watch her. From the moment Liv steps out on stage my heart is in my throat and the tears come. Tears for so many reasons, tears of pride first, then tears of nerves, tears of joy and on and on it goes…hehe. And because we all know each other very well you feel alot of those same emotions for all of the other kids on the stage too. You share in their joy of performing and also share their nerves. It’s one big emotional rollercoaster. After the last concert, all of the mum’s are so DONE with dancing for the year that we pack up and skeedaddle (is that even a word) out of there so fast the girls barely get time to say goodbye and they often don’t see each other again until February.

So this year I thought it would be fun to hold a little Christmas party with all of her special dancing friends, and since I adore all of the mummies and siblings too, we invited everyone to come along. I spent two days slaving over a hot stove (the ladies will laugh at this but it’s true) because whenever I do something like this, I figure I may as well go all out. A feast of food was prepared, lots of cold refreshments, for the kids and the mum’s hehe and a house that is Christmas decorated to within an inch of its life.

The kids had a lovely time, the girls hung out in my studio most of the time, gossiping, dancing and giggling, all of the younger brothers played cricket and raced around outside and the mummies had time to sit and relax and talk about a million things…..other than dancing. It’s so funny how you feel at the end of the dancing year, I am always just sooooo done, needing a break from it all. I’m usually feeling refreshed after a few weeks off and Olivia is always in the mood to dance so she never needs a break.

So anyway, here is a glimpse at her Christmas party. Everyone was asked to “dress pretty”. I think they all looked lovely…

Motherly Instincts

It is no secret how much I adore this store. “Motherly Instincts” is the premier maternity clothing store here in Canberra and one step inside the door and it’s easy to see why. The clothing is just so divine, and choice, well the store is bursting at the seams with beautiful stuff. Beck the owner is just a doll, her passion for dressing pregnant ladies to look their best is so infectious. I always leave her store feeling happier and occasionally I contemplate whether it is worth having another baby just so I can buy some of that beautiful maternity clothing {luckily I quickly come to my senses before doing anything crazy, hehe}. To be more accurate though, she also has the loveliest baby gifts, nappy bags to die for, books and a million other bits and pieces.

When I was in there this week I was completely in awe of all of the stunning evening wear she has. With so many office Christmas parties and family functions to attend at this time of year, she has pulled out all the stops to fill her shop with everything the pregnant mummy could possibly need to “dress to impress”.

Two sweet girls {children’s photographer canberra}

When two very intelligent goodlooking parents have children, you just know that you are going to end up with very intelligent goodlooking kids. And that is exactly what happened with this family. These girls are just beyond adorable. Big sister was full of life and her eyes are just so beautiful, I could’ve looked at her all day, she could be very serious sometimes but that usually didn’t last long and then she was off being giggly again. Baby sister, well she is the happiest, sweetest little bub. Very smiley and snuggly, gotta love that.

Mum is dying to see a sneak peek so I’ll stop chatting and get on with the show.

Can I just say, this image makes my heart skip a beat, love love love it!!!!! I would love it even more in black and white I think, but for now, here it is in colour…

Oh My Goodness. This little sweetie stole my heart from the moment she arrived and flashed me that smile. She is everything that is wonderful about babies. If there was a baby shop, she would be the best seller. She is happy, cute, loving, funny and has two perfect little teeth. And she is also very lucky. Lucky because she has two of the most lovely and happy parents. I tried to get them to let me have baby “S “ but they were having none of it. I even considered asking them to adopt me because I think growing up in their house will be a fantastic experience. Granted I am already grown up but some would say I am still a kid at heart, hehehe.

S & L, thank you thank you thank you for sharing your little girl with me, she totally made my day. And let’s not forget that she kinda did want to stay with me at the end of the session when you tried to put her in the car, sigh, what a sweetie.

Enough gushing for now because I can’t wait to share this beautiful girl with you all…see I told you she was perfect!!!!!

Expecting a miracle {pregnancy photography canberra}

It’s always so nice to photograph people expecting their first baby. There is so much I want to share with them about what is to come (good and bad, hehe) and also my excitement for the journey they are about to take just bubbles out of me. It really is the most amazing ride and first timers have no real idea of what is coming. I think that is my favourite thing, seeing their nervous excitement and the expectation on their faces.

My best advice, take lots of naps now because sleep will never be the same again, hahahahaha.

This lovely couple weren’t keen on lots of portrait photos (I have no idea why, they are gorgeous) so alot of the focus was kept on that teeny tiny 36 week belly (hmmm, as a mere mortal who didn’t have a teeny tiny belly, I struggle to be friends with people who have tiny pregnant bellies haha, lucky she was so sweet}. She really does look amazing doesn’t she.

Thanks for letting me capture this special time guys, I can’t wait to meet your beautiful baby in a few weeks…

This family was full of fun and laughs and I just had a blast hanging out with the kids. They seriously were very cool and mum and dad were wonderful people as well. They had just returned from a US holiday as well so we had tons to talk about.

I was very excited/nervous to have this session. I always get a little anxious when I do a session for somebody I know from my personal life. I always feel an extra amount of pressure photographing people I know, mainly because I suppose I want to create extra special images for them, hehe. I needn’t have worried though, I knew mum would be loads of fun and since she is the most organised person in the world, I knew she would come along with perfect clothes and lots of wonderful ideas.

The girls were just absolutely divine, so sweet and fun and I really enjoyed capturing them. I know mum and dad will adore the images, how could you not, these girls are simply gorgeous…

It’s Frantic…But Fun {baby photography canberra}

Hi, remember me? I know I’ve been a bad blogger but as I’m sure you can imagine it is all systems go here trying to fit everyone in before Christmas. I have met so many wonderful families and the cute kids, well it constantly amazes me that all of my clients are the cutest in the whole world. I am very lucky, that is for sure.
