nov 17, 2011… it was a date that brought tears to adli’s eyes… and me..

after the teacher announced the names of 10 chosen students for the UPSR results, adli’s class teacher distributed the result slip to each of the students. I went to the front hall looking for him and saw he was sitting quietly looking so down. I called him few times and the moment he saw me, he burst into tears…

being a soft-hearted mother, I couldn’t hold back my tears looking at him. I went to him and asked why… he couldn’t say a word and cried. I took him out the hall and looked at the slip… 3As 2Bs.. alhamdulillah…

I’m happy and proud of him – whatever the results.. I know he has done the best he can but it was heartbreaking … NOT because of the result… but to see the mixed emotions he was having at that time… he was surprised… confused… anger… sad… dissappointed… upset and all.

he looked so sad and down that I asked permission from his class teacher to bring him home.. he cried all the way to my office.. oh yeah I had to work on that day so I brought him to the office coz I couldn’t leave him home alone in that condition… no way..

of course we pujuk and advised him all. syukur he’s feeling okay now.

Adli… I know you have done the best you can and I’m so proud of you – whatever the results are.. there are many opportunities ahead of you, so the journey has begun… always remember that “learning is a journey, not a destination”… mama loves you always.

school holidays start tomorrow… “Pearl of the Orient” here I come… woohoo..

last thursday, as usual before going to work, I will store hot water into a jar to keep it cool. but on that morning, it was really silly of me thinking that this one particular plastic jar can be used for hot water. as I was filling up the jar, I saw water spilling and then I realised the jar melted and scalded my fingers.. such an idiot thing to do ina…!!!

I tell you… at the time it happened , the burning sensation was really really bad. at first I wasn’t sure if it’s only my fingers or the whole hands. quickly I ran my hand under the water tap for few minutes but after that it didn’t ease the pain. few minutes is not enough. I remember there’s old remedy to use toothpaste but I also read somewhere do not use toothpaste coz it can lead to infection. there was no burn meds at home, so water is the best meds coz it really ease the pain. since I have to go to work, I brought a bowl of water in the car and soaked my hands all the way to work.. luckily shah was driving…

4 days later… here’s how my poor fingers… there’s a slight irritation around the scalded area but it’s bearable..

developing asthma…

I’ve been coughing for more than a month now. it started out a dry itchy throat. so I took the cough syrup and even gargling salt water as advised by my dear friend Lanie but it doesn’t work.

my 1st visit to demc was two weeks ago. I was put on the nebs during the visit and was given plenty of meds.

I completed all in a week…

two weeks has gone and I’m still coughing.. this time it has turned into a long cough with flem. I’m having difficulty sleeping at night and shortness of breath after the cough. at one time, I thought I’m gonna die when I couldn’t catch my breath.. I even panting after coughing, walking, cooking etc…

so I went on 2nd visit to demc yesterday. they x-ray my chest to see if there’s any lung infection… alhamdulillah.. all clear… so the possibility is that I’m developing asthma symptoms… I was given an inhaler for a week and few meds…

after taking those last night, I sleep well but was awakened with long cough at 5.30 am this morning. took another couple of puff. please… please… get well ina… insyaAllah…

I’m not surprised coz it runs in the family. my dad is an asthmatic but I’m totally surprised that I’m developing asthma symptoms at this AGE… ??? !!!

last friday, I was not feeling well while at work so I sms-ed shah that I wanna go home early. he fetched me at 2 pm and we went for lunch.

the early exit from office was supposed to be me in bed resting but my mind was elsewhere. I just wanna bake something so I bought few things on our way home.

as I stepped into our home, I went straight to the kitchen and woila…

bread pudding with creamy custard sauce on top… I just love the custard…

recipe courtesy from here… I change some of it to my preference…

Ingredients:

1 loaf of bread

4 eggs

700ml of fresh milk

2 teaspoons vanilla essence

1/2 cup sugar

Pinch of salt

Method:

soaked the bread in the milk for half an hour. In another bowl, add eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla essence and stir. mix the contents with the soaked bread and stir evenly. make sure the milk covers the bread entirely.

preheat the oven. pour in the bread mixture into a greased baking pan. place it in the oven at 200° Celcius for about 45 minutes to an hour, until it is cooked.

for the creamy sauce, I used a can of evaporated milk, 2 tablespoon of sugar and 2 tablespoon of custard powder. mixed all in a pot and cook at a lower heat with constant stirring till it turns creamy….

oh I make another pudding too… it’s chocolate pudding but… I forgot to snap it… hhrrmmmm…

poor little aira… a week ago, she had a mild cough and was on syrup medication. but after few days, I noticed she vomits at coughing and she couldn’t sleep well at night.

a week has gone and she was not getting any better. so another visit to her doctor and was advised on home nebulizer for two days, that was last monday and tuesday.

at first it was a struggle to put her on the nebs.. she’ll scream out loud… refused on putting the mask on… so apa lagi.. kena guna paksaan la gitu. tangan kaki semua kena pegang…

and each time she’s done her neb, I’ll put on myself as well so that she will know she’s not alone.. so that’s the trick..

see… she did it herself and I’m so proud of her….

alahai.. kecutnyer anak mama ni…

yesterday was the follow up check-up and and alhamdulillah she responds to the medication and her lungs are cleared. she’s still on medication until her cough completely gone. get well soon ok aira…

now mama punye turn… cough & cold… nooooooooooo…!!!!

time to ponder…

aira and her sucking habits… not thumb but fingers sucking. we tried to stop her but she will cry uncontrollably… kesian la pulak…

what worries me is that her upper teeth position.. it looks a lil bit tipped forward.. we tried wrapping her two fingers and even wore her a mitten but tak jalan…

she’s is now 16 months and hope she will quit her sucking habits by what… age two, maybe…???

i really cant recall the last time i went for mengaji but definitely way toooo many years ago during my childhood. we had muqaddam before proceed to Al Quran. i managed to recite Al Quran but it was half way before my family moved elsewhere.

mengaji during my time is so different comparing todays… when my kids started mengaji, being so pandai without asking, i bought them a muqaddam book but was told it was a wrong book. they use iqra books now and it seems to be more detailed in every aspects… the tones, the methods on how to recite etc.

so last night began the new journey of mengaji back to basic for my schoolmates and myself. our first lesson was learning to recite Al-Fatihah in a correct tonation verse by verse… each of us were asked to recite it … at that point, i felt i was back in my childhood having the jitters while waiting for my turn…

anyways, it was a very good start and i felt good about it. i hope to be able to recite Al-Quran before it’s too late… InsyaAllah…

last weekend i couldnt join my cycling buddies, sha & zura for the new shah alam loop. it was their first shah alam loop so i asked them how was the kayuh. they commented in their FB…

zura : Ina, very challenging but VERY interesting!! Must do it again ye

sha : Ina, remember pasola time wen we used to b ontop of shah alam wt sardine roll in ur hand? Tats bukit menteri aka bkt sewel... So u judge la... It was a gd ride down tat memorylane..... But my reconnecting moments wt d yesteryrs was shortlifted...DAMN.....!!!

and the comment went on and on…

the memories of us riding on kae’s passola during our childhood time… the time i used to make sardine rolls, with the help of my beloved arwah mummy… (i really missed you mummy… al-fatihah), and shared with them… it was one greatest ole time i will never forget…

yesterday, as i was driving home and reminiscing those moments, i said to myself… i wanna make sardine rolls!!! so when i reached home, i just couldnt let go that memories and went straight to the kitchen… start making it… in my office wear still… sampai begitu sekali… !!!!

since few of my dear frens are asking for the recipe, here it is… credit to Liz for the recipe of sardine roll… coz i really do not have proper measurement for my sardine rolls…

For the pastry

* 250g butter

* 500g plain flour

* a pinch of salt

* cold water

Use rubbing (your hands) in method to mix flour and butter until they become like bread crumbs. Add in salt and pour in cold water and knead into dough.

Wrap in plastic bag & put inside the fridge while working on the filling.

For the filling

* 1 can of sardine

* chopped onions

* chopped chilli

* a squeeze of lemon

* a pinch of salt

Mash sardine. Add in the rest.

Roll out the dough thinly. Cut into rectangles. Put in the filling and roll. Do little cuts on the rolls before brushing egg yold on top.

Bake for 40 mins, 175C.

last monday, we, the sinfully partners (sha, zura and me) took a day off from our normal busy work to attend a briefing on Business Funding at PUNB KL Sentral from 10am to 12.30pm. the briefing was quite informative for those who in needs to run a business with financial assistance from PUNB. we registered and were given a set of questionnaires on entrepreneurship. we manage to finish all in less than 30 mins coz we were soooo hungry.

our lunch was at saba restaurant in ampang. we ordered chicken kabsah. a big portion that i get to bring some home. i love the rice and the chicken… very tender. in fact i love all of the food served. must go again..!!

after lunch, we went to buy items for samples for our upcoming project. that was the main mission of the day. from kl to puchong. mission accomplished.

the 2nd mission was to bring zura to starbuck in sect 9 at 7pm for a surprise birthday gathering with the gbs. all went smooth until on the way back to shah alam, zura told us that she has another appointment by 7.30pm. alamak…!!! ok.. ok.. calm down ina. think… think… as we reached shah alam by 6pm, my bb battery pulak kong… haihh time tgh critical la nak kong… nak sms dah tak boleh. nak cakap dgn sha pun tak boleh coz 3 of us in the car. so the only way to communicate with sha was writing a note to her…

a bit chaos la jugak… my note to sha…

you sms lanie… mintak lanie call zura and ask her to come to starbuck. bagitau nak bagi barang…

then lanie called sha. i called lanie on sha’s ip. an awkward conversation with her to avoid zura getting suspicious. zura thought i called shah. then lanie called sha. another awkward conversation went on. after a minute, lanie called zura. ok… zura agreed to meet up at starbuck… phew…!!! the mission almost aborted…

2 nights in KL…

yup… that’s where we spent the school holidays recently. we stayed at sheraton imperial kl from 17th to 19th march and it was our “farthest” holiday destination…

ma’am besar tengah relaxing… penat lepas angkat beg…

1st day…

after check-in, we took monorail at medan tuanku station, which is few steps away from the hotel, and stopped at bukit bintang station. next to the station is bukit bintang plaza. i cant remember the last time i went there but for sure… it was a very loooongg time ago, time dating dulu. we had a late lunch at johnny’s. lepas lunch, baru la ada energy nak ber-window + shopping for hours…!!!

2nd day…

after breakfast, we took the hotel shuttle to aquaria klcc. tengok aquaria floor map macam besar tapi kannnn…

it was march 08, 2011, shah was at his usual, sending me to work and we had breakfast together. that’s weird coz normally he had to rush to work.

at work, i had conversations through emails with sha, zura & kae. they wanted to go to bicycle shop to get few things that night and i even requested them to buy a cycling jersey for me… tapi tipah tertipu…!!!

at 4.00pm, shah sms-ed:

shah: jom balik awal nak..

me: jomsss..

shah: k. 4.30 tepattt turun.

me: ekkk.. u dah sampai ke 430 tu nanti.

shah: dah kat bawah ni tengok le

me: tak keje ke? ada pau tak? i lapar…

shah: nanti i tapaukan. u turun tau. i parked kat kedai bongkah.

me: ok…

after maghrib, we all get ready for a special dinner. he doesnt want to tell me where and insisted that i be blindfolded. fine with me but with a little concern too. ntah mana2 la dia nak bawak we all ni…

the moment i sat in the car, i was blindfolded. i thought it’s easy coz i could recognise all the turnings even i cant see. as soon as we reached the roundabout, shah confused my mind by making few rounds that i totally lost counts.. (shootttt…!!!). so i gave up and sat silently.

after half hour journey or so, we reached the destination and…

surprised…!!!

tak tahuuuuu…

okie… that’s a standard answer i’ll get mostly from shah, adam and adli. aira??.. she’s in diff case situation. di mana ada makanan, di situ la ada aira…

during working days, i’ll prepare either cereal, bread or nasi goreng for breakfast for the kids before they go to school. adli in morning session and adam will have brunch coz he’s in afternoon session. porridge for aira for her stay at daycare center.

for lunch, i’ll prepare at least 2 dishes for adli after school.

the above are prepared early in the morning before i go to work ye…

when comes to dinner time, it’s always the hardest. since we all eat rice most of the days at lunch, dinner memang tak nak makan nasi dah. so that’s the main reason. one says noodles, one says burger, one says naan cheese, another says anything will do… haiih.. berbagai la pulak.. so apa lagi… beli aje la…

well, another reason is mmg tak sempat nak masak pun. mak balik lambat…

what for dinner tonight..??? hmmm…. (tak nak pikir aaa…)

last sunday, i joined my cycling buddies and this time it was almost triple KM from my 1st kayuh. jauh ok…

one of our few pit stop… amik napas skit.. semput jap. sambil bersnap sana sini menunggu kae…

route: BKJ – Sg Buloh exit – BKJ = 30KM (lebih sikit kata zura…)

1st time kayuh jauh ni mmg memeritkan. after few km of cycling, i cant walk straight.. need to bend a little bit.. which almost like crawling coz i cant feel my leg.. and the aching came later in the afternoon… macam nak demam…

overall, it was another challenging ride for me with few road hills but i managed.. and i had fun riding with them..

after much persuasion, at last shah agreed to kayuh with me on one fine saturday. shah, his bro and myself started at 7 am, cycled to sect 3 for breakfast at mamak and reached home around 9 am.

i tell you… it was really a challenge for me when comes to hill road. right after the 1st hill, i felt all my energy drained out. nausea, yawning, exhaustion segala bagai… u name it lah.. mana taknyer… nak cycle tapi tak makan. motip: pasal nak gi makan.. apa daa.. padan muka..!! hehehe but.. but.. i continued okay..!!!

so that was my 1st kayuh... BB-sect 3-BB = 12 km… woohooo… bangga…
