Laughter, music, and the warmth of Filipino tradition filled the evening as LifeBank Foundation gathered for its annual Christmas Party, themed “Barrio Fiesta: Pasko sa Nayon,” on December 17, 2025, at Citadines Amigo, Iloilo City. The celebration brought together staff, guests, and members of the Board of Trustees for a night marked by joy, unity, and heartfelt gratitude—capturing the true spirit of a Filipino Christmas.

Staff arrived in Modern Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog, instantly bringing color and life to the venue. The hall decorated with vibrant details and arranged with round tables, reflected the welcoming and communal atmosphere of a traditional barrio fiesta.

Dr. Vicente P. Perlas, President of LifeBank foundations extends his warm welcome to all the staff and guests who joined the Barrio Fiesta: Pasko sa Nayon Christmas party.

The evening featured communal dining with traditional Filipino dishes, live acoustic OPM music by the Dotdoy Band, and exciting awarding segments.

The evening’s entertainment reached its peak with departmental cultural performances. Each team brought creativity and energy to the stage, filling the room with laughter and applause. The Management Committee delivered a particularly meaningful performance of “Heal the World,” beautifully reflecting LifeBank Foundation’s commitment to healing communities and ending poverty through united action.

As the evening wrapped up, one thing was clear: “Barrio Fiesta: Pasko sa Nayon” was more than a party. It was a celebration of unity, gratitude, and the shared purpose that drives LifeBank Foundation forward. Everyone left with full hearts and fond memories, ready to carry the spirit of the season into the new year.

Empowering Communities: Medical Mission Brings Healthcare to Zambales

In communities where healthcare access remains a challenge, medical missions serve as vital lifelines that bring care and hope to those who need it most. These initiatives represent more than temporary relief—they embody a commitment to building healthier, more resilient communities.

On October 11, 2025, the Social and Sustainable Development Department (SSDD) of LifeBank Foundation, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), successfully organized a medical mission at Barangay Malabon Covered Gym in Candelaria, Zambales.

With the support of Honorable Barangay Captain Nicolas Espinosa, Jr., and the staff of Social Services Program (SSP) and Ikabuhi Microfinance Program (IMP), the medical mission was executed seamlessly.

The medical mission served a total of 532 beneficiaries across three municipalities of Zambales —Masinloc, Candelaria, and Sta. Cruz. Participants received free medical check-ups and essential health assessments. Beyond clinical care, the event featured Basic Life Support (BLS) lectures and health education sessions that equipped attendees with life-saving knowledge and wellness practices. Beneficiaries were also provided with free vitamins, basic medicines, and health supplements creating a holistic approach to community health.

The event demonstrated the shared commitment of LifeBank Foundation and the Philippine Red Cross to uplift communities through accessible healthcare, education, and responsive service—proving that when organizations collaborate, meaningful impact follows.

LifeBank Foundation and Water.org Launch Blended Finance Partnership in Alitagtag, Batangas

November 25, 2024 – In celebration of World Toilet Day, the LifeBank Foundation (LBF) and Water.org, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Alitagtag, Batangas, officially launched the Blended Finance Partnership with the theme, “Leveraging Safe Water and Sanitation for Peace through Blended Finance.”

The project aims to provide beneficiaries and their families access to decent, climate-resilient toilets and financial opportunities, emphasizing the critical link between water, sanitation, and sustainable development.

The launch garnered strong support from government agencies and private organizations, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Health (DOH), Commission on Filipino Overseas, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, FINEX, and The Manila Times.

Alitagtag Hon. Mayor Edilberto Pongos, represented by its Municipal Administrator, delivered his acceptance and support for the project. Ms. Gay Santos, Water.org’s Regional Director for Southeast Asia, highlighted the transformative impact of water and sanitation in eradicating poverty.

LBF Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Mr. Roberto “Bong” Mediana, Jr., also expressed his message of commitment and how this project contributes to enabling LBF’s mission and vision.

Other key representatives from LBF were present at the event including Ms. Joean Gajeto, Director for Microfinance Operations; Ms. Jannite Orbe, WaSH Coordinator; Ms. Ruby Repoldo, Area Manager of Batangas; and Branch Manager Ms. Lorna Caisip (Bauan Branch) and Ms. Julie Mae Pineda (Cuenca Branch).

Water.org – Philippines, headed by Mr. Dick Pajarillo, Portfolio Lead for Financial Institutions in Southeast Asia, and Ms. Josephine Mendoza, Accounts Manager, also actively participated, underscoring their pivotal role in spearheading the event.

The partnership marks a significant step toward improving access to safe water and sanitation in the region, promoting health, resilience, and economic empowerment for communities in need.

From Scholar to Advocate

True greatness is measured by the positive impact we have on other’s lives. When we help others realize their potential, we create a lasting impact and build a legacy of hope and empowerment.

Alvin Perez, 29 years old and currently residing in Balatong B. Bulacan. He finished his degree of AB Journalism at Bulacan State University wherein he became a beneficiary of the Educational Scholarship Program of LifeBank Foundation Batch 2023.Through LifeBank’s assistance it covers his tuition fee and at the same time he receives semestral allowance.He actively participate in LifeBank’ s Leadership Program, social volunteer activities that helps him understand his strength as a person and at the same time develops his capacity to lead. “Akala ni LifeBank ay nagpoprovide lang siya ng scholarship sa akin, ang hindi niya alam ay isang kabataang lider na pala ang hinuhubog niya’’ he said.

After earning his degree,In 2015 he crossed paths with Lifebank and fortunately became a Scholarship Coordinator assigned at Iloilo City. That made him continue his passion to help others and to make dreams happen for the scholars. “Kung kaya mong tumulong sa maliliit na bagay, ay may magagawa ka sa kapwa mo”’ he quoted. As with him, it is an instrument for change. It becomes a tool to help youth and their families regarding finances through LifeBank’s Education Scholarship Program.

Pursuing his love and passion for social work, he is currently working as Sponsorship Relations Field Officer at Children International for almost 5 years.It is a non-profit organization that aims at providing assistance to less-fortunate childrens, to alleviate the effects of generational poverty from childhood to early adulthood. This initiative, allows them to have access to medical services, educational benefits like scholarship and provide the right nutrition for their growth. This program helps in teaching the community the importance of a child’s development in her physical, social and emotional well-being.

Alvin emphasizes the importance of speaking what’s inside your mind and must never be hesitant to share what’s inside you. Moreover, he extends his gratitude to the organization for its support and gives credit for transforming him to the person he is today. LifeBank transforms not just my life but those of other scholars and their employees.

Just like how LifeBank believes in Alvin’s potential and all its other scholars, so that if we believe that if every child is being fueled with the right support he can achieve greater heights and can also be empowered and make a change to the society. A small help could as well make a greater impact.

TEAM SPIRIT SOARS: Highlights from LBF’S Summer Sportsfest

As the sun blazed high and spirits soared even higher, the LifeBank Foundation hosted an exhilarating Sportsfest-themed summer social event at Maasin Gymnasium, Maasin, Iloilo last May 25, 2024. Transforming the traditional beach event into a vibrant sports extravaganza, employees from all departments came together for a day of friendly competition, teamwork, and celebration. The day was filled with laughter, excitement, and a shared sense of community, from adrenaline-pumping games to friendly rivalries.

This year’s summer social kicked off with a colorful parade, as teams proudly gathered and marched in the gymnasium, each clad in their distinct team colors. From the jubilant cheers and chants of each team and the thrill of competition to the laughter shared among colleagues, the event created memories that would be cherished for years to come. Beyond its recreational value, Sportsfest has strengthened bonds, fostered teamwork, and created a sense of belonging within the LBF family.

The flag-raising ceremony took center stage following the parade, with each team proudly hoisting their banners high. It marked a symbolic juncture, embodying unity and pride as employees rallied to support their respective teams.

In his opening address, Mr. Roberto Mediana Jr., Microfinance Operations (MFO) Vice President, expressed his enthusiasm for the shift towards a sports-oriented summer social. He emphasized the importance of fostering teamwork and camaraderie beyond the confines of the office, highlighting the Sportsfest as a platform to strengthen bonds and create lasting memories.

Adding a touch of elegance to the event, each team presented their muse, embodying grace and charm as they captivated the audience with their presence. The day’s excitement reached new heights as the games kicked off with the elimination rounds. From chess, table tennis, and volleyball to basketball, employees showcased their athletic prowess and teamwork, demonstrating that success is not only achieved in the office but also on the playing field.

After an action-packed morning, everyone gathered for a well-deserved lunch, replenishing their energy for the challenges and fun still ahead. In a showcase of talent and creativity, representatives from each team took the stage for a singing contest, delivering captivating performances that delighted the audience and showcased the diversity of talents within the company.

As the sun began to set, the finals of all games brought the competition to a thrilling climax, with teams giving their all in pursuit of victory. After a series of spirited games between various teams within the company, the atmosphere was already charged with enthusiasm and energy. LifeBank Foundation and Healthy Kitchen came together for a basketball exhibition game that showcased camaraderie, sportsmanship, and the power of teamwork beyond the realms of their respective professions.

The culmination of the event was the awarding ceremony, where teams and individuals were recognized for their outstanding performance, sportsmanship, and team spirit. Cheers erupted as winners proudly accepted their awards, celebrating their achievements with pride. The Blue Team emerged as the undisputed champions of the sportsfest, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork that propelled them to victory. Following closely behind, the Orange Team secured the second spot, while the Yellow Team claimed the third position with their tenacity and determination. The White Team, displaying commendable efforts, secured the fourth spot with their spirited performance. In the artistic realm, Ms. Shane Madrona, representing the Blue Team, captivated the audience and clinched victory in the Muse contest with her grace and eloquence. Meanwhile, Mr. Kim Blue from the Yellow Team stole the show in the Singing contest, mesmerizing everyone with his performance and securing a well-deserved win.

The day concluded with a sumptuous dinner for all the employees. LBF’s Summer Sportsfest 2024 was more than just a day of games; it was a celebration of unity, teamwork, and the vibrant spirit that defines the company culture. As employees returned to their desks the next day, they carried with them not only memories of victories and camaraderie but also a renewed sense of connection and pride in being part of the LBF family.

Empowerment through Partnership: LifeBank, PTFA, and Parina Multi-Sector Association’s Shared Commitment

One major initiative of LifeBank involves its strategic coordination with Partnership for Transparency Asia Foundation Inc. (PTFA), which is dedicated to advancing innovative citizen- led approaches aimed at enhancing local governance, increasing transparency and promoting the local rule of law. This collaboration underscores LifeBank’s commitment to supporting grassroots initiatives that foster sustainable development and empower local communities.

Working closely with the Local Government Unit ( LGU) of Perpetual Help Iriga City, LifeBank and PTFA spearheaded the establishment of Parina Multi-Sector Association Inc. This collaborative effort aims to empower individuals by facilitating the creation of livelihood programs. Among the association’s products are intricately crafted handmade products, which not only showcase local craftsmanship but also contribute to the economic empowerment of the society.

Parina Multi-sector Association Inc. marked its inception as an organization last December 27, 2022. Following the necessary legal processes, the association was officially registered on March 20, 2023 with an accreditation from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and recognition as an organization within the Barangay Community by May 2023.

Shirley Catimbang, serving as the President of Parina Multi-Sector Association expressed profound gratitude on behalf of all its members for the opportunity provided by LifeBank. Through this partnership, they have not only gained valuable entrepreneurial skills but also cultivated a strong sense of unity and cooperation within the community. Their vision extends beyond mere economic gains; they aspire to create a sustainable livelihood that supports their families and uplifts their quality of life.

The impact of LifeBank’s initiative goes beyond financial support; it embodies a holistic approach to community development, emphasizing leadership, capacity building, and inclusive growth. Sustainable Recovery: Marife Enoc’s Bahay Matibay Renovation

Homes that are resilient can adapt to changing conditions such as weather. Similarly, individuals who are resilient can adapt to life’s ups and downs. They learn from setbacks, adjust their approach, and find new ways to overcome obstacles.

Marife Enoc, 36 years old, a resident of Brgy. Cagting Ubay, Bohol, shared her story of how she recovers from the storms of life. She lives with her husband, a habal-habal driver and her four children. In 2023, typhoon Odette devastated their home, leaving only the flooring structure intact. Reflecting on those times, she recalls the anxiety and fear living in a house made of light materials especially during storms. However, through Bahay Matibay’s assistance, Marife was able to build a stronger home. Being eligible to the program due to the severity of the damage caused by the typhoon, Marife eagerly engaged in the process, which began with thorough survey and orientation conducted by program staff.

The program’s meticulous approach includes detailed instructions regarding construction, such as the materials needed, including the number of posts, the use of matting, steel rings, and the overall house design, ensuring its quality. “The assistance had a huge impact on us. Now our house is strongly built, and we can sleep peacefully knowing that it has a strong foundation,” Marife said.

The fear and uncertainty during storms have been replaced with a sense of security. For Marife and her family, the Bahay Matibay Program has been more than a reconstruction effort—it has been a lifeline. Beyond the physical structure, it has strengthened the community’s resilience against natural disasters, offering a model of sustainable development and compassionate support. As Bohol moves forward in its recovery and resilience-building against climate-related challenges, initiatives like Bahay Matibay play a crucial role in empowering local communities and building a sustainable and secure future.

Delegates from the Philippines and Indonesia Gather to Forge Partnerships and Drive Impact for Learning Exchange Visit

In a concerted effort to address water challenges and promote sustainable solutions, delegates from Water.org and partner organizations embarked on a Learning Exchange Visit last May 13 – 16, 2024 in Indonesia. The event aimed to facilitate meetings and engagements with various Water.org Indonesia partner organizations, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

The Learning Exchange Visit served as a platform for 29 delegates, including representatives from Water.org Philippines, Water.org Indonesia, and partner organizations from the Philippines. Among the attendees were 21 delegates from Water.org Philippines partners, comprising Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) including LifeBank Foundation, Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines, Mindanao

Microfinance Council (MMC), and Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI). Additionally, the delegation included 2 representatives from Water.org Philippines and 5 from Water.org Indonesia. To ensure effective communication, an interpreter accompanied the group.

Throughout the four-day visit, delegates participated in a series of meetings, workshops, and site visits aimed at deepening their understanding of local water challenges and exploring collaborative opportunities. Discussions ranged from innovative water management strategies to community-driven initiatives for water access and sanitation.

Key highlights of the Learning Exchange Visit included interactive sessions where delegates exchanged insights, best practices, and lessons learned from their respective water initiatives. The event provided a valuable opportunity for networking, fostering new connections, and strengthening existing partnerships.

The success of the Learning Exchange Visit underscores the importance of collaboration and partnership in addressing complex global issues. As delegates return to their respective organizations, they carry with them not only new insights and perspectives but also a renewed commitment to driving positive change in the realm of water access and sanitation.

Carlo Minas, the Community Development Officer of IPAT-SIAD Project of PTF Asia Foundation from San Nicholas, Iriga City shared with us their tasks and advocacies for the society. PTF Asia Foundation advocates for community participation and assists civil society in promoting good local governance. Their mission is to empower civil service organizations and community-based organizations through capacity-building training and establishing partnerships with academic institutions. They work in various areas such as local governance, climate change governance, livelihood, and indigenous peoples.

As a result of their partnership with LifeBank Foundation, they have been able to promote participatory, accountable, and transparent governance. Together, they empower civil society organizations by securing registrations with the Sangguniang Panglungsod of Iriga City as a member of the city development council and other local special bodies, and by establishing linkages and partnerships with other organizations and national government agencies.

This program of LifeBank Foundation and PTF Asia Foundation is significant as it provides opportunities for the community members to assert their rights and seek better services for the community.

Carlo extends his gratitude to LifeBank Foundation and PTF Asia Foundation for initiating these activities and projects.

One of the six (6) focus areas of the Sustainable Development Department is Health and Disaster Risk

The significance of these medical missions to society cannot be overstated. LifeBank Foundation, alongside its partners, serves as a beacon of compassion, resilience, and hope in times of adversity. These missions embody universal values of empathy, solidarity, and social justice. Navigating an increasingly interconnected and uncertain world, they stand as beacons of light whose impact transcends borders and boundaries, leaving an indelible mark on the fabric of human civilization and reminding us of the profound significance of mutual care in times of need.

Reduction Management, and the medical mission is one of its programs. These initiatives provide direct medical assistance and interventions to address health-related issues, aiming to enhance the quality of life. By addressing critical healthcare challenges, such as access to medical services, health education, and disease prevention, these medical missions tackle root causes of societal disparities, fostering sustainable development and inclusive growth.

In 2023, LifeBank Foundation conducted seven (7) medical missions, reaching 2,031 beneficiaries, including 1, 399 IMP members and 632 non-members. During these missions, 207 Ikabuhi Microfinance Program (IMP) beneficiaries with Members Health Fund availed free medical consultation and medicines in Brgy. Montevista Bacolod City. Similar missions were conducted in various regions across the country, reaching 217 beneficiaries in Brgy. Maunlad Poblacion, Puerto Princesa, Palawan, 188 beneficiaries in Guitnang Bayan 2, San Mateo, Rizal, 386 beneficiaries in Brgy. Bagacay East, Maasin, Iloilo, 334 beneficiaries in Roxas City, Capiz, 312 beneficiaries in Sara, Iloilo, and 387 beneficiaries in Iloilo City.

Overall, LBF’s medical missions catalyze positive change and empower communities by improving access to healthcare, promoting preventive care, building capacity, addressing specific health needs, building trust, and addressing health disparities. This program is set to continue, aiming to reach even more beneficiaries and illuminate the path toward a healthier, more equitable future for all.
