Carrying on the exploration of nature's simple forms up close, this week's image of a flax was taken in morning sun. The black background was a result of lighting conditions, aperture and shutter speed. I've added some vignetting but not sure if I'm completely sold on the post processing, will see if it grows on me.

Carrying on last week's study of Taraxacum, this image captures the same Dandelion a day later. Note how the form resonates so unmistakably with existential notions of Being and Essence. Was this flower ever truly complete? Is it now not a 'Flower' or is its true nature somehow made concrete in the inevitability of change?

Noticed this Dandelion flower head in the herb garden by the kitchen window, now digitally enhanced and displayed here in glorious monochrome for your viewing pleasure.

No wonder there are so many Dandelion images out there to the point of being a photographic cliché - they photograph well! I've a feeling there's more mileage in this flower yet...

I love the colour and form of flax in flower. This snapshot of Phormium tenax was taken on a rainy afternoon in Milford Sound. According to Wikipedia, Milford Sound has a mean annual rainfall of 6,813 mm (268 in) and rains on average 182 days a year. It's known as the wettest inhabited place in New Zealand and one of the wettest in the world - rainfall can reach 250 mm (10 in) during a span of 24 hours. Stunning scenery. Take a coat.

Typical rural NZ featuring rolled hay bails, tractors, and the White Hill wind farm just visible in the background. Taken from Mossburn in Southland. I chose this unspectacular shot to see what I could do with the colours which were pretty bland given the dull conditions. Not sure if it's a great success but this version has a slightly retro analogue feel. For a really spectacular shot of the wind farm check this out.
