Summer Survival Tips from Star Magazine

Summer is upon us, and Star Magazine’s Tara Kraft has the scoop on the hottest tips, tricks, and must haves to get us beach-body gorgeous from head to toe!

So Tara how do we get beach-body ready skin for summer?

Tara: Well everyone wants to know how to get bikini ready for summer and if you want bikini beautiful skin, my favorite new little secret is the Venus Bikini Kit. It has a trimmer, Venus Embrace razor, and Olay Moisturizer all for $10! The Venus Bikini has a cool shape that gives you a quick and easy trim, then the razor has a special comb that gives a protective layer between the skin and the blade so it trims safely without ever even touching your skin! The Olay moisturizes your legs and bikini area which is key for great looking legs!

In makeup—it’s all about the eyes. Season to season, it’s the hottest trend because women want long, flirty lashes so you gotta get a great waterproof mascara. I love Covergirl’s LashBlast Length. It makes your lashes 80% longer with a super-length brush to extend your lashes from corner to corner. It also has flexible elasta-nylon so it doesn’t flake or break…great for summer! At a price tag of under $8- the rocking look you will get on the beach will be priceless! And lips, pinks and blushes are big…light colors.

What are this season’s hair trends?

Tara: For summer hair…the trend this season is loose and messy up-dos and buns, and nothing’s easier and more chic right now than pulling it back---I love these new waterproof Scunci Accessories from Conair… called Evolution…2.99 at the drug store/ supermarket, use it as a pull back or for pony tails… voila instant beach glam! And they come in a ton of colors…what I love is that the color wont fade or stain colored hair which is sometimes an issue… in the water—or if you sweat…they’re awesome. Speaking of sweat…a tip…especially in the summer months--- it's good to wash hair every day to keep it healthy and clean….60 % of women in the us don’t wash daily, it's good to use a shampoo and conditioner formulated specifically for your hair structure, such as the frizzy to smooth ones for medium -thick hair like these from Pantene does wonders for summer hair and controlling frizz.

What about beachwear/fashions whats hot?

Tara: Its all about the accessories…Aviator shades are back, metallic flips flops, beach bags are key. Lands' End has some great finds.

It's Acne Awareness Month!

It’s acne awareness month and for the 60 million Americans that suffer with acne we have the scoop on fact vs. fiction from Dermatologist Dr. Robin Blum, when it comes to this common skincare woe.

So, what is acne awareness month?

Blum: Acne awareness month is a great opportunity to educate people about the importance of skincare and share some exciting new products available to treat acne at home. As a dermatologist I’m really excited about Clearasil’s new overnight line of products. They’re formulated to work in concert with the natural cell regeneration process that occurs while you sleep.

What do we need to know about acne?

Blum: Well many think of acne as something that only affects teens, but I actually see it in patients of all ages. It’s important for teens and young adults to develop good skincare habits from an early age. I encourage a well-rounded morning and evening skincare regimen. Cleansing and treating the skin before bed, specifically, will give products a chance to go to work on your skin while you’re body is in a natural state of healing and recovery.

So what should we look for in acne products?

Blum: For mild acne, I recommend looking for products that contain a 2% salicylic acid, like Clearasil Overnight Serum. Salicylic acid is especially helpful in treating acne because of its ability to penetrate the follicle. It also functions as a mild exfoliate, helping keep the pores clear of debris. In this way, it helps reduce blackheads, whiteheads and breakouts on the skin. It’s a known and trusted blemish-fighting ingredient and can be found in a range of products available at your local drug store.

So what causes acne?

Blum: There are a range of things that cause breakouts, from hormonal changes to over production of oil and bacterial build-up on the skin. While eating greasy foods and not getting enough sleep are not scientifically proven to cause acne, they certainly don’t do anything to improve skin health. Particularly in teens and young adults, good sleeping habits, diet and exercise are essential for all functions of the body, and that includes the skin’s ability to heal.

Any final tips?

Blum: Well, as a dermatologist, I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to protect the skin from the sun. Everyone, no matter how young or old you may be, should wear a daily broad-spectrum sunscreen. The sun can damage the skin and no one wants marks where their acne once was. Also, don’t pick your pimples! Although it is tempting, picking pimples may actually worsen acne and cause infection in the skin, cause blemishes to become more inflamed and harder to treat and hide.

Summer Beauty Trends with Allure Magazine

The weather is heating up and so are this season’s smokin’ beauty trends…

Let’s start at the top! Fab summer hair? Long and wavy, loose buns, fringey bobs, anything goes. Big news here - color!

Angelique Serrano, Beauty Editor, ALLURE

Well in the summer people tend to go lighter. You see a lot of blondes out there in the summer and that’s when it really becomes important to look for products that specifically care for your hair color.

The key…making it last! Experts say always use a specific shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair especially in the summer months when sun and chlorine can wreak havoc. New Garnier Fructis Color Shield is a high performance color care line that protects hair color and prevents dryness, thanks to key ingredients that both moisturize and shield color-treated hair. Formulated with natural ingredients such as Acai berry and grape seed oil, color stays bold – even up to 45 washes – and UVA/UVB filters help protect hair from the sun’s harmful rays, proven to stop dry-out and fight fade-out.

Angelique Serrano, Beauty Editor, ALLURE

It’s important to remember that you should apply your SPF before your makeup even though in terms of lip glosses, cheek blushes, everything really now, you can find with a built in SPF.

One of the hottest beauty looks this summer is something you actually can’t see; sun protection. Jane Iredale has developed a chemical-free mineral sunscreen called Powder-Me SPF. It’s an all over face and body powder that’s highly water resistant and protects from both UVB and UVA rays with an SPF 30. It’s so protective it carries the Skin Cancer Foundation seal of recommendation. So easy to use and really convenient. You can literally apply it wherever you are. Just pat the sponge onto the skin until you see a circle of the mineral powder. Then just rub the powder into the skin with the sponge for complete coverage. You get instant protection because it creates a physical barrier so you don’t have to wait 30 minutes to go outdoors. An absolute summer essential!

What else is making the makeup grade?

Angelique Serrano, Beauty Editor, ALLURE

Eye shadows we’re seeing a departure from the usual soft pinks, we’re seeing metallics. We’re seeing the same trend of the metallic tones in lip gloss as well

And of course beach babes, make sure you use a waterproof mascara. Check out Falsies from Maybelline New York. One quick swoop gives a whole new meaning to long lashes.

Now that our summer beauty routine is in check…what’s about our beach bods?

Angelique Serrano, Beauty Editor, ALLURE

Well you know a great pair of sunglasses, a great bathing suit, any girl will look amazing if she feels confident in what she’s wearing.

The key to hitting the beach with confidence is a great suit that shows off your best assets.

How to get it? Check out the new swimwear essentials collection from Lands’ End Canvas. You can mix and match swim tops and bottoms in a variety of colors – which is a great way to create a look that works for you. From bandeau and halter bikinis and tankinis, to boy shorts and skirted bottoms.
And there ya have it! Summer style survival in the bag!

Best Beauty Buys for 2010

Beauty is big business, with thousands of new products on store shelves each year. How do you know which ones to choose?

Kim Kardashian:
I’m such a beauty junkie! I’ve tried everything in every category…

Whitney Port:
I’m always a sucker for going to the beauty supply stores and drug stores and can spend hours in there

Selita Ebanks:
I love trying new things, new scents, new makeup, new lotions, I’m pretty obsessed.

Even celebs could use some help choosing the right beauty buy and here it is. They call it the "Oscars of the beauty biz" – "Cosmetic Executive Women" or "CEW" beauty awards. When more than 3,600 of the industry’s experts get together and award the most innovative products of the year.

Carlotta Jacobson, President, CEW:
CEW is an organization of cosmetic women that are in the industry, working in the industry and there’s a real expertise that they have and they really can judge you know what’s a good product...what are the best products coming out. Because there’s so many products that are available today, who’s really going to judge which one that’s affordable that’s accessible….all the things that I really think that women are looking for right now.

Sure are. And experts say that’s why they’re looking for products that actually "do" something and have a quick result.

Linda Wells, Editor-in-Chief, Allure:
We’re seeing a lot of antioxidants, anti-agers with active ingredients and a lot of natural ingredients too that some how have a real potent value. The key thing though is multiple benefits from a single product so you’re getting the most bang for your buck.

So what are the most innovative products in skincare this year?

How to Get Great Summer Skin

Summer is quickly approaching, and that means skin is back in! NYC dermatologist, Dr. Anne Chapas, shares expert tips on how to get summer-ready with the latest breakthroughs in skincare!

So everyone wants beautiful skin especially in the summer time. What are some of the biggest summer skin problems and the best ways to beat them?

Dr. Chapas: Well a lot of my patients are coming to see me because they want to clear their skin of acne. They have lots of special events like graduations, weddings, reunions; you name it, in the summer. I use blue light therapy because it works but only when they can come into the office for treatments. Also, the standard treatments, including retinols and antibiotics, are not ideal for use in summer as they make skin more sensitive to the sun. Also, benzoyl peroxide can irritate the skin and stain clothing. So, I recommend blue light therapy.

How does blue light work?

Dr. Chapas: It treats acne at the source in a more natural way because it gently and effectively penetrates deeply into the skin to eliminate acne bacteria under the surface. The blue light used in dermatologist’s offices works by targeting the p.acnes in the skin and creating a simple photoreaction that causes the acne bacteria to basically self-destruct. And now you don’t have to go to a dermatologist’s office to get this same, therapeutic blue light treatment anymore. TRIA Beauty recently introduced the TRIA Skin Clarifying System.

What is the TRIA Skin Clarifying System?

Dr. Chapas: It's the only FDA cleared acne treatment for use at home that delivers the same professional-strength blue light therapy that dermatologists use. So it will save you a ton of money and time going back and forth to the doctor’s office. The system includes skincare essentials, a clarifying foam cleanser and rebuilding complex in the TRIA Be Clear Starter Kit with the blue light. All three components were designed to work together to get the best results in clearing and preventing acne without the harsh side effects typical of many acne treatments. This is the ultimate new skincare breakthrough.

What are some other tips for great summer skin?

Dr. Chapas: Always completely remove makeup and sunscreen at night. They can clog the pores and prevent any light based treatments from penetrating the skin. Pat your face dry—don’t scrub. I recommend gentle foam cleansers instead of harsh soaps. A good cleanser will also exfoliate which is key to removing dead skin cells. And use a good moisturizer everyday suited to your age and skin type to keep your skin smooth and radiant.

What about sunscreens?

Dr. Chapas: In the summertime of course sunscreen is a must, and all year around. Aside from the health risks associated with UV damage, up to 90% of the visible changes commonly attributed to aging are caused by the sun. I urge all of my patients, regardless of skin type, to use sunscreen on a daily basis. There is a sunscreen for every skin type. Look for a sunscreen that provides UVA and UVB protection. It’s important to use an SPF of at least 30, and at least 50 if you’re spending all day outdoors.

For more information, you visit www.summertimebeauty.com

Summer Hair "Do's" with Hair Guru Tabatha Coffey

Hair Guru and Star of Bravo's Reality Hit "Tabatha's Salon Takeover," Tabatha Coffey, tells us how to win $100,000 in the Matrix Mannequin Mania contest...as well as what's hot for summer hair!

So Tabatha tell us about this contest?

Tabatha: Well this competition is open to all stylists so if you're just starting out or you're a seasoned hairdresser there's a category for you. All you need to do is grab a mannequin head and get creative. Do what you do best! The prizes are incredible. You could win $100,000 and a day with me!

What are some hot styles for summer?

Tabatha: What we're seeing for summer is more "oomph" and more tousled and textured hair. We're seeing mermaid waves, low-side partings...there's definitely a more '40's feel coming back into hair. Longer hair has a lot more texture, a lot more movement and it's not as structured.

Any special colors, highlights for the season?

Tabatha: The color that's hot at the moment goes from fabulous blondes, ranging from platinum to really natural golden hues. For brunettes, there's a lot of dimension running through the hair. Chestnut, caramel, chocolates, beautiful tones working their way through. And for the adventurous out there, try pops of color like red and lavender. They're really hot for this season as well.

How do you know what works for your face shape?

Tabatha: A professional is always there to help you. We all have featured we want to bring out and other features that we want to diminish. The right hairstyle can do that for you.

For more information on the contest go to www.mannequinmania.com

Swimsuits for Every Body

Summertime is upon us—time to suit up in the hottest swimsuit styles! Here to help, contributing editor for Life & Style Magazine and Lands’ End Style Expert, Rachel Zalis!

What are some hot swim suit trends this summer and how do we know what works for our shape or not?

Two of my favorite trends are the slenderizing swimsuit and the retro glam. The slenderizing suit from the Lands’ End Shapewear collection has technology in the fabric that smoothes, lifts, shapes and controls different problem areas: like your tummy for all-over control…amazing!

And don't be afraid to mix and match! It's another huge trend and a great way to save money. The Beach Living Separates Collection comes in a ton of shapes, styles, colors and prints—like stripes, mini dots, and bold solids. Totally hot this season and just very fresh.

If you're more into the athletic look, the AquaTerra Perfect Performance collection is great. It has special features such as stay-in-place back straps, cinch gathers and sewn in soft cups.

Go to LandsEnd.com for more tips and trends!

Wedding Trends with TheKnot.com

‘Tis the season to say "I do" and with the scoop on the latest in how to do it, TheKnot.com Editor-in-Chief, Carley Roney!

So what’s the hottest trend these days for planning the perfect wedding?

Roney: One of the hottest trends is destination weddings! All-inclusive luxury resorts are popping up all over the map, from Hawaii to Mexico. And couples are flocking to them for the awesome food and fun for guests making it for a truly memorable weekend, and they are choosing to do the wedding and honeymoon all in one location.

Two hot places we love — Secrets St. James and Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica’s Montego Bay. These two resorts have everthing! According to a recent destination weddings study from The Knot, Jamaica rates #1 as the most popular Carribean wedding destination.

We chose these two resorts because of their amazing wedding package, "Secrets Wedding in Paradise" They offer 3 packages and a complimentary package just for staying there. From your own wedding coordinator to the cake, flowers and food, these unlimited luxury destinations go the extra mile to make a couple’s wedding beautiful and stress-free.

What about the all-important bridal dresses?

Roney: This season everything is going retro, 50’s style. Think "Mad men!" From black-sashed dresses and ball gowns to tulle and even short knee length dresses. The look of the season is all about Grace Kelly elegance. And for the guys too, traditional tuxes are back.

What about the reception décor?

Roney: Even that is reflective of retro...rat pack and old hollywood inspired receptions are big! Platinum and white or even black and white...couples are going for the glitz and glamours super club-style receptions. Think big-band music, heavy appetizers and old-fashioned cocktails. Even the cake with towering layers and splashes of metallic.

What about invites, save the dates—anything new there?

Roney: Well they’re equally as glam. Sophisticated designs with new textures and colors, even delivered in jeweled boxes!

What about the registry?

Roney: Forget the old-style scan gun. Registries are also going high tech.
SELF Magazine's Healthy Beauty Award Winners!

SELF Magazine’s beauty director Elaine D’Farley shares the results of their 11th Annual Healthy Beauty Awards!

Why did SELF create the Healthy Beauty Awards and how do they work?

Elaine: Well we found out that 99% of women have made a beauty buy they regret which is crazy so we wanted to help them make better choices and save them time and money while shopping for beauty items. Each year we have our readers (1000 this year) vote for their favorite products on the market from skincare to bodycare, hair and makeup.

Is it true anti-aging was the biggest product category with the most entries…what’s best in that group?

Elaine: Anti-aging was the biggest product category and the best anti-aging system is Neutrogena Clinical. They just came out with a two-part kit powered with proprietary technology that boosts collagen production. There’s a gel serum that’s packed with minerals that you apply all over your face and then follow with an eye cream and daily moisturizer with SPF 30. On contact they turn on the technology in the serum to revitalize the collagen in your skin. And because collagen is skin’s support structure you really see an improvement in wrinkles and sagging skin. A facelift in a box for under $50. Also you’ll find similar technology in two new lines we love –Aveeno’s Ageless Vitality Elasticity Recharging System and ROC Brillance.

What about bodycare?

Elaine: In body care the winner for best moisturizing gel is Vaseline’s Aloe Fresh. It's great for the summer months because it just glides on the skin. It’s light, and leaves skin hydrated, refreshed, and invigorated…has 100% natural aloe vera, and is a great everyday moisturizer. Only $6!

What about hair care?

Elaine: Well we all know how important great hair is for summer and the importance of a good conditioner. Best all-around is Fekkai’s Advanced Brilliant Glossing Conditioner. It's lightweight and sheer and has encapsulated olive oil to deliver vital moisture, shine and strength from the root to the tips of your hair. Great for those sleek styles or full volume looks we’re seeing this season! Good for all hair types and safe for color treated hair. Just $23.

What about makeup?

Elaine: In makeup this summer the eyes have it! It’s all about bold! Without overdoing it, our favorite way to do that is with a great volumizing mascara. Great Lash Big from Maybelline New York....we and our readers love the way it separates, lengthens and thickens in just a stroke. It has a bigger brush with concentrated bristles that grabs and lift the lashes as well as volumizing waxes that thicken lashes giving them major volume. All for $6!

For more information pick up the healthy beauty issue on stands now or go to www.self.com!

Tips on Looking Younger

How to look at least ten years younger? We asked Beauty and Style Expert, Jenn Falik to give us the scoop.

Jenn: There are some very simple, little things you can do for yourself everyday to keep yourself young that won't cost a fortune, starting with your skin. It's the first thing people notice about you…so its KEY to make sure you take care of it. Keep your regimens up every single day. Use gentle cleansers, remove makeup before you go to bed to unclog your pores and USE an ultra-hydrating moisturizer. My favorite little magic in a jar is L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition. Its an anti-sagging, ultra-nourishing moisturizer. Use it in the morning and at night. It’s actually packed with calcium and a nutrient complex that leaves your skin deeply hydrated, nourished, and supple. People actually noticed instant improvements in their skin when they used it.

Q: What about our hair and makeup?

Jenn: It’s amazing what a great cut can do! Great hair instantly updates your look and can seriously take years off! Scope out a few mags at the supermarket checkout and see how the celebs are wearing their hair, see what the trends are, look at the colors too. Some simple highlights can really make a difference and brighten up your face. Talk to your stylist about what will look good on you and go for it! And if your stylist doesn’t know how to do it then it's time for a new stylist so make sure they know what the latest styles are and how to do them.

With makeup, you just want to keep it light, don’t cake it on that makes you look older! Stay away from harsh dark liners. Just keep everything light and lightweight. This season we’re seeing lots of bright pinks, corals, and soft neutrals, glosses…which are great options. Some light shimmer shadows on the eyes, as opposed to dark mattes colors.

Also keeping your teeth white is HUGE. As you age your teeth can tend to yellow so having a really white smile is going to make your mouth look that much healthier and much more youthful. I like the tooth whitening kit from GoSmile. You use it in the morning, use it at night and it will make your teeth several shades whiter in just a few days. So when you look into the mirror and see these luminous pearly whites staring back at you, it will definitely make you look and feel younger.

Q: Clothing advice—what do you wear...or not to look younger?

Jenn: Just like your teeth, opt for white! Diane Keaton—the icon for looking amazing and younger than she is, is always in white. A crisp white shirt is always in style and it really brightens you. Try going a little trendy with a military jacket (or scarf) and pair it with a great pair of jeans. Dressing younger, doesn't mean you have to dress wild and crazy and look like a kid. It just means, (just like your hair) incorporate some of the trends into your wardrobe. And you don’t have to spend a fortune..you can go to stores like Target or Kohl's and find trendy, stylish things. Also looking thinner and in shape is a sure fire way to look younger! Yummie Tummie helps you with that. You wear it under your clothes or alone and it looks like a regular tank, but actually shapes your entire waistline and takes off inches! Its amazing the difference.

Q: Any other final tips?

Jenn: Yes take some time to pamper yourself, so you feel good from the inside out as well. Whether it’s a quick manicure or pedicure, a bubble bath…and get enough sleep. When you feel good, rested and pampered, you look your best.

Get Your Skin in Shape for Summer

It’s almost time to show off our skin and not the rough spots that the cold winter months left behind. What can you do to help relieve your chapped, cracked skin in time for the warmer weather?

For starters, keep showers short and avoid hot water, which can strip the skin of essential oils. And no matter the temperature ouside, after your shower always moisturize, experts suggest targeting extra dry and rough areas with an ointment, but choose carefully, they’re not all alike.

Dr. Howe tells us, “Winter really beats up people's skin particularly in areas such as the hands the elbows and the knees. People often come out of the winter months with that skin being rough and dry and cracked. For that they really need to use an ointment to repair that skin. I reccommend my patients use Lubriderm® Intense Skin Repair Ointment. That will allow those areas to heal up and be smooth again. People should also be using a daily moisturizer as well to their entire body. They should look for key ingredients such as vitamin B5, E or Omega 3's.”

And you don’t have to spend a fortune. Find them at drugstores like Wal-mart, Target, CVS, or Walgreens for under $7.

What else? Sleep with a humidifier to help moisten the air, and continue to bundle up before heading out in the cold.

You’ve heard of the “red” carpet, well we caught up with reporter and reality star, Giuliana Rancic, at TRIA Beauty’s “Blue” carpet to celebrate the launch of their newest product the "Skin Clarifying System." An at-home treatment with FDA-Cleared “blue light” technology that clear acne and blemishes and improve the overall health of the skin, making it smoother and more radiant. Better than any other product available today!

Giuliana tells us, "I always ask girls who have beautiful skin that I’m interviewing what they’re secret is and a lot of them will mention they go to the dermatologist office and they get the microdermabrasion and the facials and someone once told me they get these light therapy treatments. So I was going to my dermatologist and getting this light treatment. But it cost a fortune and that’s why this product is amazing. You have it at home and it’s like so much less than getting it at the doctors office."

Spring Your Skin into Shape

Scientists at Neutrogena looked to the power of bioelectricity to develop Neutrogena Clinical™, a new skin care system that smoothes wrinkles and minimizes visible signs of collagen loss. Dr. Jane Khoury tells us, "Collagen loss, over time will create a loss in the thickness of skin and you'll see an increase in the wrinkles and loss of elasticity in the skin. We've known for many years that bioelectricity is important in healing of the skin." The line’s serum and moisturizers combine to activate on the skin – working like miniaturized batteries to create a gentle micro-current that reawakens collagen-depleated skin. The daytime moisturizer has a Helioplex® Technology in it to help minimize sun damage down the road. Khoury says, "Whats great about Helioplex is, it's stable in the sun so you can get great broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection that lasts over time." Now, recharging your skin is as easy as a trip to your local store. The line retails between $39.99 - $49.99

How to Get Oscar Winning Locks

Who were the Oscar winning trend setters on the red carpet?

Ammon tells us it's all about minimal makeup and a lot of up-styled hair. One of his favorites was Diane Kruger who wore a braided, twisted chignon that was the perfect balance of casual elegance.

To get the look is very easy, the key is to prep the hair. Start with a little bit of texture paste. Ammon's favorite is Design Pulse Messy Couture by Matrix. It's perfect for up-styles. Then you section off the hair, braid, twist and pin. Voila! You have a young and fun chignon!

Sandra Bullock not only won for Best Actress but she also was Ammon's pick for best hair. It was shiny, sleek and sexy with just the right amount of fullness. The key is to protect the hair from heat styling tools and create healthy dimension and body.

To get the look, first use a heat protection product like Biolage Thermal Active Repair Creme. Then you need a good brush and blow dryer. Blow dry the hair smooth and use a large barrel curling iron to add a gentle bend to the ends.

For more info go to www.matrix.com

Oscar Winning Looks

Well everyone is all a buzz about the Oscars - and as always it's more about who "looked" the best, rather than who won!

Trend #1: GOLD

Oscar wasn't the only one who rocked gold for the night. Who else? Best Actress winner, Sandra Bullock in a form-fitting gown by Marchesa. Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta and Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham.

Trend #2: Bold Lips

Pops of colorful lips made their way down the red carpet - Maggie Gyllenhaal with a hot pink pout and Charlize Theron rocked red!

Trend #3: Up-Do

Whichever way you choose, the up-do is always a fan favorite. Faith Hill's was more on the messy side where as Elizabeth Banks was sleek and stylish.

Beauty Brand mark Leads Digital Pack with New Social Media Tools

With today's young women socially connected through online communities like facebook, myspace and twitter, web 2.0 savvy beauty and fashion brand mark is taking the lead in changing the way they shop for beauty online...creating digital tools, e-boutiques, facebook shops, and more.

With 24/7 access to mark reps, customers are able to shop around the clock at their mark reps personal online store or e-boutique. And, there's even a free iphone app so customers can download the latest mark trend book and how-to videos on their iphone.

mark rep, Taylor Waltmon tells us, "I've been a rep for a little over 3 years now and the new applications, they’ve just made everything a lot more convenient and it’s really help me bring in a lot of new customers as well as boost my sales and give me the efficiency and convenience.

My favorite application is the mark-girl facebook page. There’s actually a shop tab that customers can go through and click on and it can take them through the E-store and they can actually purchase right there and the greatest part is that they don’t even have to leave their facebook page. And they can also find me as a representative."

Taylor is one of more than 40,000 reps they call themselves mark girls - who are changing the face of direct selling with these social media tools. And there's room for more... many more. The experts agree that viral technology is a must for any growing businesss, especially one that markets to this particular age group.

Elaine D'Farley, Self Magazine's Beauty Director, says, "mark leads the trend in digital apps in the beauty space because they’re one of the first companies to be coming out with these. They’re apps are designed to engage these young women. Reaching out to her and allowing her to sort of play with their product virtually."

If you're interested in becoming a mark rep and creating your own dream job, you can sign up at www.meetmark.com. Also, check them out at facebook.com/mark-girl click on the "shop" tab, or follow them at twitter.com/markgirl.

Dressing for a Job Interview

Making a stellar first impression at a job interview has never been more important and to help us dress for success we turned to style expert, Amy Goodman!

So Amy what’s the first thing to consider when dressing for an interview?

Amy: "Well the most important thing to remember is that every industry has its own set of style rules. If you’re applying for a job in a conservative field such as law or banking, stick with traditional attire. More creative industries like advertising and graphic design typically have a more relaxed, business-casual dress code.

Always research the company you’re interviewing with. Look online for photos of employees and take your cues from the way they dress."

What can you do to stand out?

Amy: "Choose one accessory that really stands out and brings your outfit together. That might be a colorful scarf, earrings, shoes with unique detailing, or an eye catching watch.

I suggest watches from Timex. Their women’s T-Series Chronograph is colorful and has an oversized dial, so you’re making a fashion statement and letting your potential employer know that you’re reliable and value efficiency.

Guys can offset an otherwise conservative outfit with a bold, colorful tie, an oversized watch or a sleek briefcase. These are the things that may just help an interviewer remember you in a sea of candidates."

Any final tips?

Amy: "Be polished and composed for your interview by preparing your outfit the night before. Try everything on. If anything is too short, too tight or lowcut, find something else to wear. Make sure your clothing is wrinkle and stain-free, and check your shoes for scuffs!

For more info go to timexstyle.com or fan timex on facebook.

Fall 2010 NY Fashion and Beauty Trends Wrap Up Report

Fashionistas in full swing at NY Fashion Week… loving what they’re seeing for Fall 2010!

Michelle Trachtenberg digs the girly sort of rock vibe…

Kelly Bensimon loves that high and low, masculine feminine edge...

And Shenae Grimes feels that fur and feathers is the theme!

What else? Lots of ‘80’s, loads of menswear, neutrals, grays and black!

Kate Lanphear, Senior Style Director, Elle says "Women are driving a lot of strength from what they’re wearing so we’re really seeing you know aggressiveness come back."

And no aggressive women is complete without a strong beauty statement…let’s start at the top!

InStyle, Fashion Director, Hal Rubenstein tells us, "Hair was very simple, pulled back…you can do big, but big has to be weightless, that’s really important…"

Backstage style gurus were using Phyto products to “get the look." The shining star - their Phyto Professional Workable Holding Spray.

Stylist, Odile Gilbert says, “It’s light, it’s efficient, it’s natural, it’s done with plants and it’s why we love it.

Hair? Check! Now what about the makeup--

Joe Zee, Creative Director, Elle says, "With beauty i think you can really make that extra statement …so shimmer on the eyes and color on the lips."

And Linda Wells, Editor-in-Chief of Allure says it's all about, "Beautiful bright red lips and shiny, shiny, pale very beautiful, finished skin.

Finishing touches?---accessories!

Mary Alice Stephenson says, “A lot of wedges, a lot of fur and shearling inspired shoes. As far as bags—a lot of skins and clutches.

So what to clutch onto come fall? A little fur, something gray, a can of hairspray and some red lipstick!

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

Hailing it as his "best yet," Editors are going gaga over Marc Jacob's Fall 2010 collection that sent models out of a cardboard box and down the runway to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" tunes. Following suit with the menswear message come Fall: three-piece plaids, three-quarter length skirts, and several shades of neutral and grey, even on the nails. But the power-woman gets girly in sequin-studded cardigans and sweater dresses, sheer chiffon dress with collar bow, silver metallic sequin and silk taffeta daisy-print gowns.

Surprising-- no celebs in sight, just a gaggle full of A-list editors to see what the Master crafted this time.
