<p>More than 90% of people who think that they have  set goals never achieve them. Goals could be losing weight, making money, getting fitter or improving a relationship.</p>

<p>During my nearly 20 years in the body transformation industry we always used to refer to the 3 &#8220;M&#8221;s of weight loss.</p>

<p>My program is based on what I call the 6 &#8220;M&#8221;s, which is the whole story to fat loss. When you apply these rules of the game then you will begin to achieve your goals easily and effortlessly.</p>

<li><strong>Mind Power</strong> and the way that you think about food and exercise. Everything begins with a thought and the mind. Understand how you mind can be your best friend or act like your worst enemy.</li>
<li><strong>Mood Management</strong> and Emotional Intelligence. Including how to manage your stress levels. Stress accounts for more failures in achieving goals than anything else. Research also shows that stress can influence the storage of fat especially around the belly.</li>
<li><strong>Motivation</strong>, how and why we do the things that we are already doing. Once you have an idea of how your mind works then you can begin to align your behaviours with your goals. Do you really know what you want? What is important to you? You need a reason to begin working at a project and you need an even better reason to carry on working at your project when you are tired, hurt, disillusioned, unhappy or just plain feeling down. Willpower is not and effective tool to achieve your goals.</li>
<li><strong>Meals</strong>. How you eat is far more important than what to Eat. This include the habits of naturally slim people. What is important is that most people who have lost weight and keep it off don&#8217;t radically restrict the food types that they eat. They restrict the quantities of the food. They eat the food that they love and learn to love the food that they eat.</li>
<li><strong>Movement</strong> and Exercise. You will learn how to feel good about exercise and How to use more calories that you take in. How to stay motivated when exercising, how to set up a <strong>home based exercise</strong> program.</li>
<li><strong>Maintain and habituate </strong>your<strong> </strong>new skills and apply them to create power throughout the rest of your life. Don&#8217;t stop here! Once you have learned these techniques you will be ready to apply your new skills in so many different ways. Develop</li>

<h2>So what is Hypnosis and hypnotherapy?</h2>
<p>Have you have ever been influenced by words, persuasive advertising or by one of your own doubts? Have you ever walked into a shop and left with more than you intended to buy?</p>
<p>Then you have been subject to a type of hypnosis called the art of suggestions, without anybody telling you. Most advertising executives have received extensive training in hypnotic and persuasive languages.</p>
<p>Hypnotherapy is simply a therapeutic process using elements of hypnosis. A large part of what I do is teach you the only real form of hypnosis and that is self-hypnosis</p>
<p>Self Hypnosis is a communication process that amplifies learning in the brain. Hypnosis takes place when you are mentally relaxed, physically relaxed and are focussed on one message or idea and open to your own suggestions.</p>
<p>When you relax after a long day with a cigarette and a drink and say, &#8220;<em>I really need this</em>&#8221; then you are hypnotizing yourself into needing it. Yep.. and you though it only happened on stage!</p>
<p>Or what about &#8220;it&#8217;s really hard to stop smoking! I just can&#8217;t do this!&#8221;</p>
<p>In reality most professional mind coaches and hypnotherapists are actual &#8220;De-hypnotists&#8221; because we help you &#8220;deprogram yourself from your own limiting beliefs and decisions.</p>
<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t stop eating&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t control my emotions&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t get over the past&#8221;</p>

<h2>So what is Hypnosis?</h2>
<p>A word has as much power as the associations attached to it. History is littered with examples of words whose meaning has been corrupted by incorrect usage. Hypnosis is ne of those words and after this section I will not be using the word again.</p>
<p><strong>Lets begin with what it is not.</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>It is not communing with the ancestors</li>
<li>It is not entering into league with the devil</li>
<li>It is not anti Christian nor is it pro Christian</li>
<li>It is no more spiritual than the reaction of pupils to the daylight</li>
<li>It is not sleep, nor becoming totally unconscious and unresponsive. That is called death and we try to avoid that for as long as possible.</li>
</ul>
<p>I am often astounded at the number of people who tell me that hypnosis is a bad thing and when pressed to actually describe it they find that they cannot. There are so many definitions of hypnosis that it has now failed to be of any use in the English language.</p>
<p>When my Christian friends think of hypnosis they often visualise eyes rolling into the back of heads and speaking in tongues. Oh hand on, isn&#8217;t that some of the Churches that encourage that?</p>
<p>Hypnosis, Monoideism or just plain Wholemind imagination is defined hereunder. If you are thinking of anything else that does not match this definition then you are using the wrong word.</p>
<p><strong>There are five components of hypnosis</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>A <strong>natural State</strong> of mind. You enter hypnoidal states when you fall asleep and when you wake up.</li>
<li><strong>Free of the censorship of the critical part</strong> of the WholeMind. That is part of the conscious mind that decides one whether something matches your old belief system.</li>
<li>Where <strong>you are focussed on one idea exclusively</strong>, sometimes your own suggestions and ideas and sometimes those from a CD or a therapist or coach.</li>
<li>With an <strong>engaged and active imagination</strong>. Creating and event or idea in your own mind. Visualisation.</li>
<li>Normally, but not exclusively in a <strong>relaxed and alert state</strong>, sometimes called the Alpha state because of the types of brain waves that are differentiate this from a normal active waking state.</li>
</ol>
<p>In this focussed state you are more receptive to suggestions from yourself or from external input. Old ideas can once again be examined, old beliefs can be re-evaluated.</p>

<h2>Hypnosis Happens All Over The Place</h2>
<p>This description should also make it clear that Wholemind imagination and hypnotic states are in no way restricted to the therapy room.</p>
<p>There is no mention of mind control, there is no mention of a takeover by a strange unconscious mind, and there is no mention of sprits, ungodly or otherwise.</p>
<p>People at sports events, school lectures, church services, motivational speakers, various audiences, watching television, reading a book and golfers, are all meeting the general definition of Wholemind hypnotic imagination.</p>
<p>The difference between just imagining something and doing it in a Wholemind way is that you begin to use the same neuro-linguistic circuitry as you do when perceiving reality.</p>
<p>This means that Wholemind imagination is far more real and helps create maps within your mind that have stronger neural networks that just hoping, thinking or imagining.</p>

<h1>Welcome to your Journey Towards a Whole New Life of No Smoking</h1>
<p>You are reading this for a reason.</p>
<p>Perhaps you are reading this because you have already made the decision to stop smoking, perhaps you are only thinking about the ways that you can better use your money, or perhaps you have chosen one of 1000s of good reasons to stop now.</p>
<p>You probably already know that you have taken the first step to saving loads of money and perhaps even adding years to your life. Because you know that&#8230; I won&#8217;t need to point that out!  Here are some frequently asked questions in terms of my highly acclaimed and successful One Whole Breath Stop Smoking Course.</p>
<h2>How many sessions do I need?</h2>
<p>My private, group and corporate stop smoking sessions are designed to enable you to become a free, natural and permanent non-smoker.</p>
<p>Smoking cessation can be dealt with through various Wholemind and NLP techniques.</p>
<h2>There are two phases to stopping smoking.</h2>
<p>1: The initial smoking cessation, which is the easiest phase and why so many courses advertise that you can stop in only one session.</p>
<p>2: Staying away from smoking forever. This is the more difficult process and requires very specific techniques that you can continue to use for years to come if you need to.</p>
<p>Permanent smoking cessation may be structured over two (or more) sessions at the end, you will be free of smoking, without feeling that you have given anything up. Above all: You will also have the tools to remain free forever.</p>
<p>Even more important is that most clients can pay off the investment in savings over one to two months.</p>
<p>At an average of a packet per day you will save R900 per month, with a full course paid off in less than 2 months. That leaves R9000 in your pocket for the end of the year.</p>
<p>What will you do with that money?</p>
<p>For this procedure to be successful and lasting it is vital that we look carefully at your reasons and perceived benefits for smoking. You unconscious mind may reject new plans and pressure to conform to the therapy if these important point remain unaddressed.</p>
<p><strong>For example:</strong></p>
<p>Many people experience high levels of stress or anxiety and smoking brings a perceived benefit of relaxation, (although as you will learn, this is caused by smoking).</p>

<h2> What if I smoke a lot?</h2>
<p>I have worked with people who have smoked over 60 cigarettes a day for 30 years or longer and have stopped without any problem at all. In fact it is easier to work with committed smokers because they have an inherent commitment to doing things well!</p>
<p>When they smoke, they make a good job of it and when they stop, they stop cold and never go back to it.</p>
<h2> What about one-session miracles</h2>
<p>I leave the miracles to someone else; however I help you access a part of you that can create amazing things and results.</p>
<p>The sessions are customized to suit each client, which is why I do not promise &#8220;a one session guarantee&#8221;. It is not possible to group every person who smokes into one simple category.</p>
<p>Corporate sessions are split into two phase; group process and individual sessions.</p>
<p>Stress is frequently a major &#8220;trigger&#8221; contributing to smoking; therefore I frequently suggest a session of stress management before we tackle the smoking program.</p>
<h2> What about Mind Control?</h2>
<p>Interesting question. If you were in control of your own mind then why would you be seeking help?</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t control your mind and sometimes you will also feel out of control when you smoke or eat too much and that began long before you read this.</p>
<p><strong>If you don&#8217;t control your mind then who does? Consider these reasons for smoking;</strong></p>
<p>? Old beliefs of needing to conform,</p>
<p>? The need to be popular,</p>
<p>?The need to reject nagging spouses, friends and &#8220;do gooders&#8221; and irritating     &#8220;health nuts&#8221;, (like me!).</p>
<p>?Embedded messages from advertisers being paid billions to manipulate your behaviour.</p>
<p>?Old patterned behaviours that were reinforced years and even generations ago.</p>
<h2> Smoking is not your fault.</h2>
<p>However if you learned to respond in one way, then you can learn a new way and NLP, focused mind power and hypnotherapy will assist you to do this in a relaxed and comfortable fashion.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t control you mind but whenever you take up a suggestion from an advertiser then you have lost your free will to the corporate machine.</p>

<h2> Won&#8217;t I put on weight?</h2>
<p>Research shows that the average ex smoker gains minimal weight when their poor dehydrated, smoked and burnt out bodies begin to rehydrate and recover. The average was 2kg.</p>
<p>Research also shows that when dieters were offered a pill that would help them lose 2 kgs, but would increase their chances of cancer and heart attacks, that the respondents replied, &#8220;No Way&#8221;.</p>
<p>There are cheaper and healthier ways of dieting. Smoking is a not an option for keeping your weight down!</p>
<p>Of course when people exchange one habit for another (such as eating) then they will gain weight. This program is about taking control, not losing control</p>
<p>During the sessions, we deal with your unique smoking pattern on the following levels:</p>

<p>Smoking, along with all addictive patterns exists on a number of different levels.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Mind Addiction </strong>i.e the belief that the person can’t cope without smoking and won’t enjoy anything again after they stop smoking. I focus on two areas of the mind, the &#8220;what&#8221; you focus on and the &#8220;how&#8221; you focus on it.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>The Automatic Brain Addiction</strong> for repeated and comforting actions. <strong>Habit</strong> ie the reason the person lights up the moment they pour themselves a cup of coffee, or start to unwind after a hard day.  Habits are non goal orientated repetitive behaviours which can be changed with specialised techniques. The brain is built to create habits, you are hardwired for it, so dont be too hard on yourself.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>The <strong>Body addiction</strong> to smoke.  This is minimal and  the fact that more than 90% of smokers stop &#8220;cold turkey&#8221; is evidence of this fact. In fact most people struggle to tell the difference between the &#8220;physical addiction&#8221; and just living  normally.</li>
</ul>
<p>The course consist of 3 smoking cessation sessions, dealing with different topics and techniques. The three form the smoking package and cannot be separated, one supports the others. Stress management is also an important part of the process.</p>
<p>Research reveals that stress is the single biggest factor in forcing people back to old smoking habits.</p>
<p><strong>Investment Rand Value.</strong></p>
<p>Although many smoking programs charge you on estimate of the saving that you will make, (many R1000s in a just a few months) I charge for three simple sessions.</p>
<p>Each session last around 75 to 80 minutes.</p>

<p>There is dead silence that follows such a comment, a pregnant pause, a pre-emptive postulate, you know what I mean?&#8230;. and I am sure that you do.</p>
<p>Fuuuck, I am sorry, I think in my rather tentative and well practised cognitive dissonances, our father is making a point that I don&#8217;t quite get.</p>
<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t end your thinking with a preposition&#8221;, says Mother.</p>
<p>Did I just say that aloud? Or can she really really read my mind? Is it getting hot in here?</p>
<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s a comment up with which I shall not put&#8221; I viscously (yea verily) reiterate Winston Churchill&#8217;s famous comment hoping for some reprieve from the image I have of my 82 year old father&#8230;you know&#8230; whatever.</p>
<p>Father meticulates on &#8220;they don&#8217;t spend enough time enjoying it. They just sit down and swallow it down without a thought. Blood stupid people&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Shit, he is on a roll tonight&#8221; I think. Mother glares once again. What is it with Mothers and their intuitive and precognitive looks?</p>
<p>As one of the mangrove warbler eggs has just lodged itself in between my oesophagus and that wiggly waggle thing in the back of my throat* I begin to choke.</p>
<p>There is no sympathy, my lack of response has been deemed somewhat judgmental. Are we getting into an argument? Good Heavens no! Not at the Dinner Table.</p>
<p>Mother has honed in on my moment of weakness, her steely stare is boring into me.</p>
<p>Why does father titter so? What the utterances of such a sardonic and mordant nature?</p>
<p>&#8220;Father maketh a point and I don&#8217;t quite get what he is getting at&#8221; I intone in a somewhat tactful nature. Are we going to begin talking about a rotary Wankel engine Now?</p>
<p>&#8220;Speak up boy, do you have something to say?&#8221;</p>
<p>Panic Slowly Miles, remember your lessons my boy</p>
<p>&#8220;Mother, it&#8217;s a bit much speaking to me about&#8230; you know&#8230;whoopsey and all that. &#8221;</p>
<p>Our child never listens, Father resuscitates the recovery of the conversation.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&#8220;People don&#8217;t masticate their food enough, they don&#8217;t chew, you know what masticate means don&#8217;t you, silly child?&#8221;</p>
<p>I do.</p>
<p>I mean I do know what it means, I don&#8217;t&#8230; you know&#8230; whatever.</p>
<p>One of Mothers legs has just fallen off. I pretend not to notice. Probably best not to say anything&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8220;Ah yes Father, I thought that you said&#8230; er &#8230;. I mean&#8230;you know&#8230; whatever&#8221;</p>

<p>&#8220;out with it boy!&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I think not Father dearest&#8221; There are words and worlds other than these and even in those words and worlds the parents and children are not discussing this.</p>
<p>You know what I mean and I am sure that you do</p>
<p>This is a lesson, I think to myself. Not sure whether it stems from our father or Our Father.</p>
<p>Words are those slippery building blocks of language and don&#8217;t need no grammar to make themselves heard etcetera and whatever and what not and all that, know what I mean?</p>
<p>And I am sure that you do&#8230;</p>
<p>Whatever.</p>
<p>There are those words that stand empirically, imperially and therefore insidiously on their own feet, staring you in the face, they isolate themselves from the grammotological (a term coined by the linguist Ignace Gelb in 1952) structure of the surrounding syntax and have the potential of changing the blood flow to all of our organs, and I mean all of the organs including those that father may, (or may not) have been referring to (from time to time).</p>
<p>Words have an effect on us, the stuff that has happened to us in what we think is our past, (you know when it has passed) mixes with the associations that we have developed and that all becomes the stuff we call memories of the future of the past.</p>
<p>I shudder at what the psychologists would think about my immediate reaction to fathers contemplation&#8217;s.</p>
<p>But, all in all, language is a slippery eel</p>

<p>I was once seated next to Stephen R. Covey at a dinner table, (nothing like Father&#8217;s Dinner Table). I asked him what it meant to be a good leader, how do I use words to be a good leader.</p>
<p>He leaned over and said that in order to lead, I should speak, but understand and I should seek that before I bludgeon my way forward to be understood.</p>
<p>He added that it might be a good idea to listen with my eyes and to listen as one human being talking to another human being. It took me a while to understand that lesson.</p>
<p>And that got me to thinking, does our verbiage not impede the imperative of our iterant illiteracies ?</p>
<p>Did I miss something whilst preparing my rebuttal? Did I really Listen?</p>
<p>And I sit here tonight, &#8220;listening&#8221; to what has gone wrong, (so little really) and so right, (so unrecognised) and I perchance to ponder my rather rebarbative revalidations.</p>
<p>So in closing, whether we masticate or desiderate, or just eat the cake that we are given at the dinner table (and we must eat cake surely?), I feel that we cannot discount the effect that unconsolidated conflicting tongues present us from time to time.</p>
<p>And as William of Occam once said so many (oh so many) years ago</p>
<p>Entia non sunt multiplicanda,(In regards to competing hypotheses that arrive at similar conclusions , the hypothesis with the fewest assumptions should always prevail)</p>
<p>Or (Don&#8217;t complicate things more than necessary)</p>
<p>What better way than to say nothing at all?</p>

<p>All unconscious processes such as Self Hypnosis, Mindful Meditation and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) are already built into you just like language. This is good news because unlike a drug or a ten year stint in therapy, there are no side effects and you still have money for NLP workshops at the end of the month!</p>
<p>One day I was asked by a client if hypnosis should not be restricted to the medical profession; you know those people who are highly responsible, never make mistakes and have all of the time to deal with our issues.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s an intriguing and mildly familiar argument and certainly one worth considering if you are trying to increase taxes: If it works then it should be banned, restricted  or someone should be making lots of money out of it.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t reply to my clients concerns . I just stared at a spot on the ceiling. Eventually my client stared at the same spot on the ceiling. Things like that happen in my office. When we run out of conversation we tend to drift a bit.</p>
<p>After a minute or two of silence her breathing slowed down and I suggested that she may be having a similar experience to me. My experience was that I was noticing that the edges of that spot had become a bit blurred around the edges. In fact the longer I stated the more my awareness seemed to drift, gently around the room, all the time with my eyes firmly stuck on that spot. I was drifting.</p>

<p>My awareness had expanded to include some of the things I had not been aware of when I first looked at that spot&#8230;</p>
<p>This is the beginning of a meditation called &#8220;Hakalau&#8221; or Peripheral Vision (or the Miles Meditation). I like the last name but it does come a few thousand years after it was first developed and practiced.</p>
<p>There are no injections, no drugs, no mind control or loss of consciousness. Just a lovely connection with a part of you that is often neglected; the Self.</p>
<p>Hypnosis and self hypnosis are God Given gifts for us to enjoy. We have a right to relaxation. We have a right to disengage from the bizarre confusion of &#8220;everyday thingsness&#8221; which offers little peace and even less explanation.</p>
<p>We should give our bodies the chance to deal with the &#8220;issue&#8221; using some long forgotten but no less inbred natural ability. Just like our tears might have antibiotics or a wound knows how to heal all on its own, then at some level we may just have answers to our problems inside our heads. Surely we know more about ourselves than everyone else?</p>
<p>The study of hypnosis and NLP, is all about understanding how you already work. It&#8217;s a users Manuel to the brain. You have brain! and I bet you know very little about how to make it work.</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">I Can Stop Not Smoking!</h2>

<p>When a smoker comes to me and says;</p>
<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t stop smoking&#8221; (I can do the process of not stopping), &#8220;but I really want to stop&#8221;. Please don&#8217;t hypnotize me though, because I like to be in control.</p>
<p>I wonder if he can hear the irony in that statement. I certainly can!</p>

<p>The news around the country yesterday, was that South Africans are facing an increase likelihood of obesity and diabetes, and they needed an intensive study to realise that?</p>

<p>Food has long been the placating drug of choice. And it is no surprise that the result of convenience foods, stress, and bad habits have culminated in a health crisis.</p>
<p>I have been teaching Fat Loss Coaching* and Weight Loss techniques for more than 25 years and have come to the conclusion that the root causes for obesity have not really changed.</p>
<p>There are only two reasons why we continue to get fat, obese and insulin resistant.</p>
<p>1. We don&#8217;t know what to do. I.e. we have no idea that chocolate coated cereal and sitting on the coach are not conducive to being slim and trim or</p>
<p>2. We know what to do but feel &#8220;de-motivated&#8221;, &#8220;uninspired&#8217;, or &#8220;out of control&#8221;</p>
<p>Well, unless you have been living in small cardboard box at the bottom of the pond for the last 20 years, I think we can scrap point number 1.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t want to get into the carb debate right now, but it is interesting to notice that we know more about foods and chemistry than ever before and we are getting fatter and unhealthier, (that is an exclusive &#8220;we&#8221; because I am at the leanest levels I have ever been!)</p>
<p>That means that knowledge not the issue in most cases.</p>
<p><b>Motivation and Mind Power Make The Difference</b></p>

<p>Have you ever done well at something after needlessly worrying and stressing about it? Like exams!</p>
<p>Do you hate exam time?</p>
<p>The thought of failing and the consequences that might follow? The stress?</p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be wonderful if your study techniques and exam preparation could prepare you for exams in a relaxed and peaceful way?</p>
<p>Logically we know that the worrying itself does not actually do any good.</p>
<p>My mother always used to ask me why worry when it won&#8217;t actually help my exam performance. I hate it when she asks stupid questions that I can&#8217;t answer.</p>
<p>I do have an answer to &#8220;Why we worry&#8221;, but I will cover a more important question first.</p>
<p>Far more important is &#8220;How Can We Stop?&#8221;How can we can get a grip on those anxious, negative thoughts that pervade our conscious minds and how can we covert that energy into something very positive instead?</p>
<p>The answer lies in your own unconscious mind. Call it what you like, Self Hypnosis, Mindfulness, Meditation; they all help you access natural resources of relaxed competence whilst eliminating the flight and fight response that creeps up on you.</p>
<p>And when you get anxious and worried, the more that you try not to, the more that it happens.</p>

<p>The article I have referenced and linked hereto makes mention that nutrition made no difference in this particular study.</p>
<p>However, we know that there are four ways of changing and maintaining an emotional state; and nutrition is indeed a vital part.</p>
<h2>State Control and State Elicitation</h2>
<p>1. Change Your Focus, (What are you focusing on? Your beliefs, memories, traumas, positive thoughts, happy places?)</p>
<p>2. Change Your Physiology, (how you sleep, rest, move, breath and stand)</p>
<p>3. Change Your Chemistry, (and that includes food, colorants, additives, sugar, tobacco and medicine)</p>
<p>4. Change Your Language, (the words you use as well as the natural languages of your brain, in NLP terms; these are your modalities)</p>
<p>Nutrition, Exercise, &#8220;Focussed Mind Power&#8221; and &#8220;Mind Mastery&#8221; are all elements of a successful plan of preparing and studying for exams.</p>
<p>Learning how to offset stress with deep relaxation techniques is also vitally important.</p>
