Katy Perry forced to cancel Belgium festival set hours before taking the stage due to severe weather

Katy Perry was forced to cancel her headlining performance at Belgium's Werchter Boutique just hours before she was set to the stage on Saturday after forecasts of severe weather prompted officials to shut down the outdoor festival.

In an Instagram post, the 41-year-old pop star apologized to fans and expressed her disappointment that the show would not move forward, noting that she had "no choice" in the decision.

"Sadly my set @WerchterBoutique tonight can’t happen due to a government mandated cancellation because of the incoming inclement weather and crowd safety concerns," Perry wrote.

"I was backstage at the show in the middle of hair and makeup when this news was delivered, and they gave me no choice," she explained. "I am just as unhappy as you are."

"Unfortunately this is beyond my control, but the safety of all 55,000 of you always comes first and foremost," Perry added. "I am sorry I can’t change the weather, and even sorrier that all of us can’t be together tonight."

"I was looking forward to being back after 17 years, I was even gonna wear the same outfit from that 2009 show again. I love you all, and please get home safe."

Perry's performance would have marked her first return to the Festivalpark Werchter grounds since July 2009. The singer took the stage at the annual four-day festival Rock Werchter while on her debut solo tour Hello Katy, following the release of her breakthrough 2008 album "One of the Boys."

In her Instagram post. Perry also shared a backstage photo of herself in a white robe over striped pants, seated with her unused stage costume hanging beside her. The Grammy Award nominee's 90-minute closing set at the one-day Werchter Boutique festival was scheduled to begin at 10pm following Pitbull's performance.

In her post, the "Roar" singer also included the Werchter Boutique's official statement, which read, "Werchter Boutique will end after Pitbull’s concert. Following consultation with the Rock Werchter safety committee, in which all authorities and the organization are represented, it has been decided that Werchter Boutique will end at 9 pm this evening."

"This decision was taken in response to the weather forecast, which predicts severe thunderstorms from midnight onwards at the earliest," the statement continued. "The governor of Flemish Brabant has also issued a BE-Alert in this regard.The festival will end after Pitbull’s performance. Katy Perry’s concert will not go ahead."

"By bringing the festival to a close early, we can ensure that the exit of visitors proceeds in a safe and orderly manner, allowing everyone to return home calmly. The safety and health of everyone present is always our top priority."

The cancellation comes just weeks after Perry performed at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles, California. Perry gave her first live performance of her 2024 song "Wonder" alongside 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius.

Perry's boyfriend Justin Trudeau was in attendance at the ceremony to support her. Following her performance, Perry joined the former Canadian Prime Minister in a luxury box to watch the United States' soccer team's opening match against Paraguay.

The couple, who went public with their relationship in December 2025, were seen holding hands, clapping, and celebrating Team USA's 4-1 victory.

Earlier this week, Perry released her new single, "Watch It Burn" and she is currently touring Europe, performing at several festivals and solo concerts.

Perry's next scheduled performance is a headlining concert at DEPOT Live at Cardiff Castle, a summer concert series in Wales.

Former friends turned bitter rivals over the last few weeks as Xia Brookside’s relationship with Léi Yǐng Lee completely fractured amid their pursuit of the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) Knockouts World Championship.

When Lee finally won the title, Brookside’s envy grew even further. It all led to their title match at Slammiversary on Sunday night.

Lee set the pace early, using her agility and quickness to completely turnaround Brookside. Multiple kicks combined with a dropkick kept her out in front of Brookside. She then hit a nasty German suplex and a thrust kick after that. As they moved outside the ring, Lee hit a diving shoulder block to Brookside.

But Brookside only needed one moment to get back into the match. She pushed Lee into the ring post, tweaking Lee’s left knee. She started to go to work on the knee, finding the best opening to do some damage to the champion.

Lee wasn’t satisfied with Brookside’s punishment. Even as she was taking damage from Brookside’s submission hold, she wanted "more." The trash talk continued through the rest of the match. Brookside’s kicks were countered by Lee, who countered and put her opponent into a submission maneuver of her own.

Lee powerbombed Brookside from the turnbuckle. Brookside ripped the turnbuckle, exposing the rope. She knocked Lee off the top rope. Lee went faced first into the exposed area. Brookside hit a Darkside and pinned Lee to win the TNA Knockouts World Championship.

It is Brookside’s first championship in TNA. Lee’s second reign as champion ends after 74 days.

Canada entered Sunday’s Round of 32 match as a significant favorite to advance to the Round of 16 with a win over South Africa. But it wasn't as easy for the Canadians as the odds might have indicated.

The two teams entered second-half stoppage time locked in a 0-0 draw. But Canada managed to score the winner in the 92nd minute. A cross into the box by the Canadians landed directly on the head of a South African defender, but the header bounced right to the chest of Canadian midfielder Stephen Eustáquio.

Eustáquio settled the ball onto his right foot and then made no mistake, ripping a shot into the lower-left corner of the net, past South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

Canada generated the better chances throughout, putting seven shots on goal to South Africa's one and holding a 1.32-0.13 edge in expected goals, but the Canadians couldn't break through until Eustáquio's late winner.

A "new normal" of heightened risk and uncertain regulation is impacting the Strait of Hormuz, shipping firm Hapag-Lloyd warned Sunday, as military strikes escalated and conflicting routing directives plunged the waterway into operational chaos.

The remarks from the German shipping giant also came as Tehran "simultaneously" began moving millions of barrels of crude oil from Kharg Island for the first time in days, according to maritime intelligence firm Windward AI.

"At Kharg, the T-Jetty and Western Terminal loaded simultaneously for the first time in days; the East Waiting Area holds 28 tankers, 27 dark, signaling the Iranian crude export cycle restarting," Windward AI said in a post on X.

The outbound cargo consists of an estimated 4.12 million barrels of wet cargo, including crude oil and other liquid hydrocarbons. Of that total, about 3.91 million barrels are crude oil, analytics firm Vortexa said.

"We have been making and still make regular risk and situation assessments with our security partners, all relevant authorities and our people on shore and, of course, on the vessels," Richter said.

"It is a region in conflict, so we consider this with every single ship we move in the region and assess the risks for every vessel and its crew individually."

Richter's remarks came as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) launched airstrikes against Iranian targets, including Qeshm Island on June 26 after a vessel was struck in the strait.

This prompted Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to retaliate by targeting U.S. military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain.

Adding to the strike risk is a tug-of-war over control of the transit lanes.

Lloyd's List described the fracturing of the waterway as a "confused, two-tier system now operating in the strait, which remains split between the Iran-controlled northern route and a U.S.-protected southern 'highway,' with the pre-war routes rendered unusable because of the risk of mines, separating them."

Iran is responsible for managing and fully reopening maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz under recent understandings, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Sunday, according to Iran International.

"Fees for infrastructure such as the Suez Canal or the Panama Canal are a different matter, as they reflect major infrastructure investments. That is not the case with the Strait of Hormuz."

While thousands of crew members remain caught by conflicting naval directives, Hapag-Lloyd said it had successfully navigated the initial bottleneck.

"Good news is that we were able to have all Hapag-Lloyd vessels that were affected by the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz and had been waiting in the Persian Gulf depart safely from the Gulf," Richter noted before adding that "the safety of our crews is our highest priority."

A plane carrying participants in a skydiving activity crashed shortly after takeoff in northeastern France on Sunday, killing all 11 people aboard, authorities said.

The Meurthe-et-Moselle Prefecture said on X that the aircraft crashed after departing from Nancy-Essey Airport, prompting officials to activate the department's operational command center.

The Associated Press reported the victims included five parachuting instructors, five novice jumpers preparing for tandem skydives and the pilot.

In a later post on X, Tabarot said investigators from France's Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses had visited the crash site and opened an investigation to determine the precise circumstances of the accident. He also described the crash as France's deadliest aviation accident involving a skydiving flight in about 30 years.

The parachutists were preparing for tandem jumps, in which novice participants are harnessed to experienced instructors for the descent.

French broadcaster BFM-TV spoke with a local resident who said he heard what sounded like the aircraft's engine stopping before a loud impact. When he reached the crash site, he said there were no signs of life.

Sunday's tragedy came just weeks after another deadly skydiving plane crash in the U.S. that killed 12 people about 65 miles outside Kansas City, Missouri.

In that crash, the aircraft was carrying 11 skydivers and a pilot. Many of the passengers were preparing for tandem jumps and were inexperienced first-time skydivers, officials said. Some family members waiting at the airport also witnessed the crash.

Ali told his followers on social media that TNA’s director of operations, Daria Rae, would make the announcement on the Slammiversary pre-show. Ali decided he wasn’t going to wait around anymore and came to the ring during the pre-show.

As Rae was about to share the news with Ali, TNA director of authority Santino Marella interrupted her. Marella and Rae both said they had opponents for Ali, making the open challenge a triple-threat match instead of a one-on-one affair.

Ali’s first opponent was revealed to be Rich Swann. Then, Uhaa Nation made his debut for TNA. Nation was known as Apollo Crews when he was in WWE. Nation was an intercontinental champion and U.S. champion while with WWE. Nation dumped Ali out of the ring and turned his focus to Swann to start the match.

Ali had to really dig in and try to stave off both competitors’ strength and agility. But he got help from Order 4 members Tasha Steelz and Special Agent Zero. The two distracted Nation as he was trying to put the finishing touches on Swann.

Zero took out Nation and it allowed Ali to take advantage of the one-on-one matchup inside the ring. Ali avoided Swann and rolled him up with a backslide pin and a bridge. The referee counted to three and it was Ali’s night to celebrate.

Ali’s International Championship reign is his first since entering the company in 2024. He came in and won the X Division Championship and was named the X Division Star of the Year in his first year there.

Since then, Ali has put the Order 4 alongside him and he hasn’t been on the losing end of his matches much. He won the TNA International Championship against Trey Miguel at Rebellion in Cleveland in April and hasn’t looked back from there.

Top Democrat lawmaker suffers minor injuries in Delaware car crash

Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., said he is expected to make a full recovery after suffering minor injuries in a multi-vehicle crash in Delaware on Sunday that was triggered by a driver experiencing a medical emergency.

The Delaware Democrat said he was riding in one of several vehicles struck during the crash and was transported to Beebe Hospital for treatment. In posts on X, Coons thanked first responders and medical staff, adding that he was relieved that, by all accounts, no one was seriously injured.

"Earlier today, a Delaware driver experienced a medical incident and collided with several cars, including one in which I was a passenger," Coons wrote on X. "I was transported to Beebe Hospital and treated for minor injuries. I'm now home and expected to make a full and swift recovery.

New York state Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, the Democratic nominee for New York's 7th Congressional District, faced online backlash Wednesday after a podcast clip from May resurfaced following her primary victory in which the democratic socialist called for abolishing TSA PreCheck and nationalizing the airline industry.

"My hot take is we need to abolish PreCheck. I’ve got, like, a million beefs with the airline industry and the process of having to fly. We need to, like, nationalize the airline industry, but let’s start by abolishing PreCheck," Valdez said, in an interview with podcaster Francesca Fiorentini.

Valdez made the remarks during a May 1 appearance on "Candidate Corner," a segment of "The Bitchuation Room" podcast. The clip spread online after she won Tuesday's Democratic primary to succeed retiring Rep. Nydia Velazquez, defeating Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and two other candidates.

Valdez framed her proposals as a response to airline profits, passenger fees and what she described as weak consumer protections.

"The airline industry is making a lot of money and constantly undermining consumer rights, nickel-and-diming us in every single facet of having to fly someplace," Valdez said.

The Queens assemblywoman also argued that the lack of a robust national rail network leaves travelers with few realistic alternatives for cross-country trips.

"And in a country where there’s no robust national rail system, it’s planes or nothing if we want to get from one side of the country to the other," Valdez said. "And so we’re forced into these super uncomfortable seats. We have very few rights."

TSA describes PreCheck as an expedited screening program that uses risk assessments before passengers arrive at an airport. The U.S. airline industry has operated under a largely deregulated framework since the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 removed federal control over fares, routes and market entry.

Fox News Digital reached out to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy's office for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Lewis said he's unsure how this happened.

"I hate to think it’s malicious, but at the same time, I don’t know that it’s not," he said. "I haven’t even put the record out yet. It’s not like its old stuff that was just sitting around that they decided to make packing material out of. It’s my new record. I just don’t understand how something like that can happen."

Despite the circumstances, Lewis has no ill will towards Swift.

"We live in two very, very different worlds. And she’s such a huge star that her world doesn’t intertwine with anyone’s worlds," he said. "I certainly wouldn’t be trying to bring her into this or blame her for anything. It just so happens that it was my record cover in her gift box for her fans."

"I don’t want people to think that this was an opportunity to promote my new record," Lewis said. "I don’t understand how a shredded-up copy of my new record’s art ended up in a Taylor Swift gift box for her fans."

Representatives for Big Machine Label Group and Universal Music Group, who reportedly handled overseeing product management and merchandising, did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Tehran has deployed a new front on Western social media, including a covert influence campaign to sway Americans and undermine President Donald Trump's push for a nuclear deal, experts warned Sunday.

Following the February U.S. strikes on Iran that decapitated much of Tehran's leadership and the signing of an interim memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Tehran and Washington, the analysts also claim Iranian officials are relying more on digital proxies to project centralized control.

"Iran's leadership now lives on X because it is a decapitated leadership," counterterrorism expert Dr. Omar Mohammed told Fox News Digital.

"The regime has moved its legitimacy contest onto a platform, and once you are fighting there, you optimize for it," Mohammed, of the George Washington Program on Extremism, added.

"There are English, screenshot-ready lines, memeable contempt and civilizational pride. It is adaptation under pressure — an influence operation forced by the fact that the men running Iran can no longer stand at a podium."

After Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed on Feb. 28, the regime's senior leadership was largely eliminated, and the new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is in hiding. Mohammed said Iran's digital messaging has since become more centralized.

"The coordination between the leadership is visible: You watch the same lines reposted verbatim by the judiciary chief, the vice president and the security council within minutes," the expert explained.

"That is a central media shop pushing copy, not officials independently moved by the same spirit at the same moment. And the register gives it away."

According to Mohammed, the regime's X accounts serve as a manufactured proxy for the leadership vacuum while exploiting political divisions in the United States, a strategy that he says surfaced even more after Trump signed a new peace deal on June 17 in Versailles.

"Tehran is not aiming at the United States as a single entity," Mohammed said.

"It reads Washington as two power centers and pitches to both — working to embarrass the deal the president owns while speaking the language of multipolarity back to the worldview it attributes to the vice president."

In the wake of the signing and the first round of negotiations in Switzerland, for example, Trump said on Truth Social that unfrozen Iranian assets would be used to buy American agricultural products, including soybeans, wheat and corn.

The Treasury Department, he wrote, would release the Iranian assets "into escrow, controlled by the United States, and will be used for the purchase of food and medical supplies, exclusively from the United States, including corn, wheat and soybeans from our great American farmers. These are things that are desperately needed by Iran."

The regime's posts from its lead negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, mocked the claims as "trash talks."

"America falsely claims our unfrozen assets will buy their agriculture. Interesting. The only crop we're harvesting is what you planted: decades of mistrust. It's organic, abundant, and homegrown. But apparently the U.S. only exports GMO soybeans, broken promises and trash talks," Ghalibaf wrote on X.

"The agriculture jab is aimed straight at Trump, who personally sold the frozen-assets release to American farmers as a corn-and-soybean windfall, so mocking 'GMO soybeans and broken promises' is built to embarrass the deal he owns," Mohammed claimed.

"Tehran gains if it can discredit the deal the president is selling," he added.

"That is also not a 64-year-old Iranian speaker writing for himself; that is a young social media team writing in his name," Mohammed said.

Mohammed also noted Trump's posts are his own, with the "account and the man the same."

"The Iranian accounts are the reverse. They come from an institution manufacturing a public presence for a leadership that can no longer appear in person," he said.

As ordinary Iranian citizens continue to face strict internet restrictions at home, Tehran's elite enjoy open access to foreign platforms to target Western audiences.

Alp Toker, of internet monitoring firm NetBlocks, told Fox News Digital that the regime had "learned" asymmetric information warfare.

"These regimes are learning to combine social media, AI and internet censorship as tools for asymmetric information warfare, benefiting from a global audience while sidestepping accountability to their own citizens," he said.

"There is a two-tier system in which government officials can use the platform freely to promote their agenda while denying access to their citizens, as they do in Iran.

"It's a double-edged sword — you get more open politics at the cost of regime propagandization.

"Iranian authorities, among others, are getting better at gaming this system," Toker added.

Mohammed said the parallel systems — a heavily censored internet at home and what he described as an "open megaphone" aimed at Western audiences — provide the strongest evidence the campaign is an external influence operation rather than organic domestic speech.

Iran played a pretty mediocre World Cup, which ended Saturday with its elimination from the tournament in a fairly big letdown.

ESPN, wanting to honor Iran, put out a post on the team's exit.

To them, failing to make the knockout stage amounted to a "remarkable" tournament run.

"Iran are eliminated from the World Cup after a remarkable tournament run," ESPN FC posted Saturday, championing a team that didn't win a single match.

Not everyone shared ESPN's take.

One fan wrote, "Remarkable might be a stretch. They didn't win any games and didn't advance in a format where 32 of 48 did advance. They weren't awful by any means, but they weren't spectacular either."

"I have played football (not soccer), baseball, and basket[ball] in my life. I would have the same results out there and they did (0 wins)," another reaction read.

The Iranian camp certainly didn't see it that way.

After the heartbreaking exit, Iran's official team statement added, "Respect cannot be won without fair play."

No matches won. Three grueling draws against Belgium, New Zealand and Egypt left Iran undefeated but mercilessly eliminated.

Iran thought it had found a late winner on Friday before VAR ruled the goal offside, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw with Egypt, coinciding with Seattle's Pride Match and making for an eventful day of World Cup storylines.

Burgum vows 'full' prosecution after vandals carved 350-foot gash into Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum vowed "full" prosecution Saturday for vandals who allegedly slashed a 350-foot long gash into the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and defaced the area with a slew of anti-Trump graffiti.

"When people are attacking it [the Reflecting Pool], it is like an attack on our country," Burgum said. "These are our most sacred monuments, and they [the perpetrators] are gonna be prosecuted to the full extent of the law."

Burgum discussed the damage and the Trump administration's response to it during a "Fox & Friends Weekend" appearance, revealing that authorities have made seven arrests, issued multiple citations and filed 18 police reports in connection with the vandalism.

According to Burgum, the damage extended roughly 350 feet along the pool's industrial rubber liner, which he said investigators believe was cut with a box cutter.

"The Reflecting Pool [is] part of the 1922 Lincoln Memorial," Burgum said.

"When people are using box cutters to do vandalism on this thing, it's the same as if they were throwing paint on Lincoln's statue in the eyes of the law."

President Donald Trump addressed the vandalism on Friday, saying the newly restored Reflecting Pool had been deliberately targeted.

"They ripped a scar 350-feet-long through the side of the Reflecting Pool," Trump said.

"These are the people we're dealing with. These are people that want to destroy our country."

Burgum said the vandalism came despite a concerted effort by the Trump administration to restore and beautify the nation's capital ahead of the upcoming celebration of America's 250th anniversary.

He said more than 50 parks and circles have been restored, 48 monuments repaired, 22 fountains returned to service and roughly 1,700 lights fixed throughout the National Mall.

Fencing now surrounds the Reflecting Pool amid an investigation into the damage.

Burgum said the fence was installed in part to protect the pool and in preparation for July 4 festivities, which will include fireworks on either side of the monument.

The saga continues between wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers, this time with the polarizing star calling out the team’s GM and head coach.

Aiyuk, who has been posting social media rants about his toxic situation in the Bay Area, made perhaps his most explosive video yet, where he claims Shanahan, regarded as one of the best coaches in the NFL, has "got a temperament of a f---ing toddler."

"We is not cool," Aiyuk said about his relationship with the Niners. "We won’t be cool and I will never be stepping in that building except on Oct. 19."

Why Oct. 19 specifically? Well, Aiyuk hasn’t been shy about where he actually wants to play in the NFL — with the Washington Commanders. Aiyuk and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels were college teammates at Arizona State, and they remain good friends today.

But Aiyuk, this time posting the video on YouTube, said that he’s fired his agent because he also represented 49ers GM John Lynch, though he didn’t specifically name Lynch during the video.

Aiyuk hasn’t been shy about his displeasure with Lynch, and this time he claims that he showed up unannounced at his home. He said he saw on his home security camera that a "big old white boy. White man. Former NFL safety" arrived at his home.

Once again, he refused to name Lynch in the video.

Prior to this video, Aiyuk posted on Instagram, saying "Go Commanders! Raise Hail! Take Command!" He hasn’t blinked when it comes to his desire destination, but whether he ultimately joins them in the NFC East is still up for debate.

Aiyuk has demanded the 49ers cut him, which seems to be the inevitable situation here. However, Lynch and the Niners have been holding out on doing so despite voiding the remaining guaranteed money he was owed on his four-year, $120 million extension. The 49ers did so after Aiyuk didn’t participate in rehab sessions for a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus he suffered in his right knee during the 2024 season.

"If I’m crazy or if I’m cappin’, tell them boys cut me today and I’ll sign with the Commanders tomorrow. We’ll see who’s cappin’," Aiyuk said in another video.

It seems a bit more complicated than what Aiyuk hopes for, though. First of all, the 49ers placed him on the Reserve/Left Squad list back in December after not reporting to the team facility for his rehab. Aiyuk needs to file paperwork for reinstatement, per ESPN, and the 49ers do not have to release him until he does so.

Firing his agent, Ryan Williams of Athletes First, likely adds to the fact that Aiyuk remains in NFL limbo.

Aiyuk began speaking out about his frustration with San Francisco earlier this month, including videos where he called the 49ers "dumb" and "stupid" for giving him his extension. He also claims the team is scared to release him because of how he might perform elsewhere in the league.

Before getting injured in 2024, Aiyuk tallied 24 catches for 374 yards during that season. He broke out with 1,342 yards on 75 receptions and seven touchdowns during the 2023 season for the 49ers, helping them reach the Super Bowl.

TNA introduces Knockouts TV Championship at Slammiversary

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) introduced the Knockouts Television Championship to the fold on Sunday at Slammiversary in Boston.

TNA Hall of Famer Traci Brooks came out on the ramp after Elayna Black defeated Indi Hartwell and Mara Sadè in the pre-show to start the festivities.

"The TNA Knockouts, over two decades, have changed the landscape of pro wrestling," Brooks said. "Hell, the TNA Knockouts started the women’s revolution. We shattered glass ceilings. We rewrote the rules. We created opportunities and time and time again proved why we belong on the biggest stage. And now, it’s time to make history once again.

"Starting this Thursday night, there will be a 16-woman tournament beginning. And at the end of that tournament, we will crown the first-ever TNA knockout television champion."

The belt was brought out and it featured the letters "KO" and "TV" in purple and black lettering.

Those who will be featured in the tournament have not been announced thus far. Black, Hartwell and Sadè could very well be in that tournament, starting on "Impact."

"Ladies, let’s make history."

TNA currently has six active championships. The Knockouts TV Championship will be its seventh.

'Supergirl' opens well below expectations after Milly Alcock's comments, guaranteeing huge loss for Hollywood

Hollywood may not excel at much these days, but if there's one thing you can count on from the modern entertainment industry, it's churning out bad movies and alienating potential customers.

This bizarre phenomenon has created a long list of major financial flops in recent years, from "The Marvels" to "The Bride!" to "Madame Web" to "Captain America: Brave New World," to Disney's live-action remake of "Snow White."

And now we can add "Supergirl" too.

In late May, pre-release tracking for "Supergirl" hit the internet, suggesting that the film could make as much as $70 million in its opening weekend at the domestic box office. $65 million to $70 million would have been a tremendous disappointment for "Supergirl," considering the film cost an estimated $175 million to make, and at least $100 million to market. Warner Bros. even secured a record-setting campaign with major brands like Cold Stone for cross promotion. They went so far as to stage "Supergirl" display booths at baseball games.

'SUPERGIRL' PRE-RELEASE TRACKING LOOKS DISASTROUSLY BAD FOR HOLLYWOOD AFTER LEAD ACTRESS' BIZARRE COMMENTS

Even $175 million might have been an underestimate, as Deadline reported late last week that it had cost around $186 million to make. That report, clearly informed by industry sources, said that expectations had "cooled," but the studio still hoped to exceed $80 million globally and around $50 million domestically in its first weekend.

Well, the weekend numbers are out, and they are disastrously short of those expectations, to put it mildly.

Remember, just a month ago, expectations were that "Supergirl" could make $70 million from the United States alone over the Friday-Sunday period. So what did it actually make? $38 million. Nearly half of what the studio had initially hoped.

Globally, the news was even worse. Despite a wide international launch and prolific marketing campaign, the film made just $30 million from other territories, for a $68 million opening weekend. Total box office, from the entire world, came in under original expectations for the United States alone. Expectations quite literally just a few days ago were that it would clear $80 million internationally and reach $50 million domestically. It made $68 million and $38 million.

Disaster is an understatement.

'SNOW WHITE' HAS BRUTAL BOX OFFICE OPENING WEEKEND, FAILS TO MEET EXPECTATIONS DESPITE HUGE BUDGET

Given the 50/50 revenue split between studios and theaters, and the massive production and marketing budget, it's possible the film needed to make $450 million to $500 million globally to break even. James Gunn's "Superman" made around 57% of its box office from domestic ticket sales. That conservatively implies "Supergirl" would need to make around $270 million in the United States, assuming a similar split, to reach its break-even point. Yet with 40% to 45% of a film's box office coming in the first weekend, particularly in the busy summer season, the actual opening weekend implies the film may come up short of $100 million.

If that 40% rule holds steady internationally, we're looking at $170 million in total box office. This film is going to lose hundreds of millions of dollars for Warner Bros. and DC Studios. And it's their own fault.

The film stars Milly Alcock, who had one job to do in her promotional media campaign in the lead-up to release: don't be divisive, off-putting, and make potential ticket buyers the enemy. She failed.

"It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on," she told Vanity Fair in an interview a few months before release. "We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies. I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself."

Then, when receiving criticism for that bizarre comment, she doubled down in a recent Variety interview entitled "Milly Alcock's Supergirl Interview: Sexism, Superheroes, and More."

"I didn’t even say ‘men’ — I said ‘people!’" she claimed. "And they got so angry. I was like, ‘You’re proving my point. You’re proving my point!’"

She added that she was happy to have "pi----- off" the right people, including those who identify as a "Christian" and "Dad."

"And it’s from a lot of people whose profiles have no photo, who are burner accounts," Alcock said. "Or someone’s name and then ‘Dad of four, Christian,’ which is hilarious to me."

Then, just ahead of the release, she said the character "probably goes both ways" after Queerly Radio questioned her about the film's sexuality. When asked whether she had "explored" her character's supposed "queerness" in preparing for the role, she answered, "It wasn't, but in honor of 'Pride month,' as I'm getting all these questions...I don't know. I think that what makes this film beautiful is that it's not centered around a man, it's not centered around love at all. I don't really know. I don't know. I don't know. She probably goes both ways."

It's like a clinic in what not to do.

The failure of "Supergirl" isn't all down to Alcock, though. There's plenty of blame to go around. The writer, Ana Noguiera, had quite literally never written a full-length movie before this one. Her most recent writing credit, prior to "Supergirl," was a short film in 2018 entitled "We Win." Why or how did she get the job with that resume? Who knows.

Even critics, who love to promote a film they believe is getting criticism from "the right" or those they believe are "misogynists" or "sexist," widely panned it. Audiences gave it a woeful B- CinemaScore. The trailers looked awful, and Gunn, the creative force behind DC Studios, spoke about his desire to make a female-driven superhero where the character is a "total mess." Very much what audiences are looking for.

But this entire process has been an ideal example of why Hollywood continues to hemorrhage ticket sales. Because they are incapable of understanding what audiences want. They hire unqualified people, for any number of absurd reasons, and give them massive budgets. They cast actresses or actors who are so narcissistic and ideologically obsessed that they cannot and will not accept that they are in a customer-facing business. That not everyone cares or agrees with their, often bad, opinions. They churn out repetitive, unoriginal slop with no interest in quality, originality, or visual interest.

Contrast that with "Project Hail Mary," where the author said he specifically avoided politics and wanted to make crowd-pleasing entertainment. That film exploded at the box office, well past expectations, grossing nearly $685 million internationally and generating huge profits for MGM and Amazon.

"Supergirl," by contrast, might lose $130 million conservatively, and at least $200 million in a more negative scenario. This just keeps on happening, and will keep on happening, because Hollywood continues to have the wrong priorities, little interest in fixing their political and ideological biases, and a complete lack of awareness as to their failings. They blame fans, critics, the right, men...anyone but themselves. Guess, for them, it's worth it.

Bill Maher calls Mamdani-backed socialist ‘patient zero’ of the ‘woke mind virus’

Bill Maher tore into Darializa Avila Chevalier — the socialist backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani — on Friday after Chevalier won the Democratic primary for New York's 13th Congressional District and drew scrutiny for her answers on prisons, deportation and past anti-American posts on social media.

Maher opened "Real Time with Bill Maher" with a monologue about Avila Chevalier's refusal to directly say whether a convicted murderer should be incarcerated during a New York Editorial Board interview.

"The New York Times asked her, ‘If someone murders someone randomly, should they go to jail?’ Couldn’t get her to say yes for that," Maher said. "So, there is a woke mind virus, and I think we found patient zero. Her name is Darializa Avila Chevalier."

Avila Chevalier, 32, defeated Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, in Tuesday’s primary. Avila Chevalier led with 49.4% to Espaillat’s 45.9%.

Maher also cited past statements about the United States and her reported plan to kneel during the congressional oath.

"She also says that the United States, the country she’s running to be a part of, is occupied native land, and says this country, America, is a f---ing disgrace," Maher said. "During the oath of office, she’s going to take a knee."

The New York Editorial Board pressed Avila Chevalier multiple times about how a murderer should be treated under her abolitionist views. She said incarceration remains what happens in the current system but did not directly endorse it.

"The fact that the murder happened is tragic. The fact that there was a circumstance in which that could even come to pass is tragic, and all of that is a reflection of systems that allowed that circumstance to be possible," Avila Chevalier said.

Chevalier also told the board she opposed deportations in all circumstances.

"I am not OK with any deportation," she said. "I think all deportation is wrong because I think it is an incredibly cruel punishment that is really only relegated to people on the basis of where they were born."

Her campaign platform includes, "Abolish ICE," Medicare for All, Housing for All and a "Babies, not Bombs" agenda. Her website says she would "fight to abolish the deportation machine" and "divest" money spent on wars abroad.

The New York Times has described Avila Chevalier as a candidate who has "voiced support for abolishing the police, borders and prisons and seizing property from landlords."

Fox News Digital reached out to Darializa Avila Chevalier for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

Classic trash talk or so you would think. This was obviously not an attack on the people of Bosnia. It’s in the context of an upcoming World Cup match, but that didn’t keep some from getting their fanny packs in a bunch. Apparently enough people for her to issue an apology.

Among those appearing to have their fanny packs in a bunch was the Bosnian national soccer team who tweeted, "My goodness, the stereotypes write themselves……"

That tweet includes Velez’s comments and has been seen more than 10 million times, at the time that I'm writing this. I would have considered that a funny response to Velez’s trash talk if they hadn’t provided an update, seemingly enjoying the fact that she had apologized.

"In a poor effort to have a little fun with World Cup competition, I took it too far and made a thoughtless comment on air that was insensitive and inappropriate. I apologize to the people of Bosnia and the Bosnian Football team," Velez said in a statement.

"The World Cup is supposed to be about uniting communities around the world, and my comment didn’t reflect that spirit. Wishing all the teams the very best as they continue their World Cup journey."

The stereotypes write themselves, indeed. There are too many soft people who can’t take a joke and who can’t handle a little trash talk at their expense without being offended and demanding an apology.

A rare collection of original letters, family Bibles and founding-era artifacts is offering new insight into the role Scripture played during the nation's founding.

The artifacts are on display at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., where a new collection marking America's 250th anniversary examines how Scripture influenced the country's earliest years through original documents and historical objects.

Among the featured items are the first Bible printed in English in America, family Bibles belonging to several founding fathers and other prominent Americans, and an original Thomas Jefferson letter on religious freedom.

Together, the documents trace how biblical language appeared throughout the founding era, influencing conversations about liberty, education and public life.

Anthony Schmidt, the museum's director of collections and curatorial, told Fox News Digital that the collection uses primary sources to examine the Bible's role in early American history.

"The Bible has been an integral part of this nation's founding and history," Schmidt said.

"That's not a theological claim; it's what the documents show. The founding fathers referenced Scripture, argued from it, and built political frameworks on its language about human dignity and liberty."

One section explores how Scripture was part of everyday life during the nation's earliest years, displaying the first Bible printed in English in America alongside family Bibles owned by several founding fathers and other historical figures.

Schmidt said the objects were intentionally selected to tell what he described as the fullest story possible about the Bible's influence on America's founding generation.

"These objects show the Bible's impact not only on religious life, but on early American art, education and politics."

Another section examines the relationship between faith and government through Jefferson's writings on religious liberty and one of the nation's earliest published arguments for resisting tyranny.

Visitors can also view Revolutionary-era printed materials that helped unify the colonies, documents tracing early Jewish civic life in America, portraits of George Washington and other colonial-era figures, a hand-colored lithograph memorializing Abraham Lincoln, and busts of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.

Schmidt said one of the collection's central goals is to encourage visitors to engage directly with original historical documents.

"We want visitors to encounter the history of this country and see, in the primary documents, what impact the Bible actually had on the people who built it," he said.

He noted that while the founding fathers often disagreed on matters of religion, the historical record shows many were still influenced by the Bible's language and ideas.

"Many of the founders disagreed about religion, and disagreed sharply, but they were still shaped by the Bible's language and arguments," Schmidt said. "We want people to engage with that evidence and come to their own conclusions."

Sisters, friend charged in Texas mom's stabbing death

Two sisters and a friend were charged with murder after a 32-year-old Texas mother of five was stabbed multiple times in broad daylight and later died, authorities said.

Kitty Mia Diaz, 21; Amaya Cookie Diaz, 19; and Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, were arrested Thursday on charges of murder in connection with the fatal attack, the Del Rio Police Department wrote in a press release posted to Facebook.

The victim was identified as Caroline "Caro" Peña, 32, according to local media reports.

"She was one of those people that she was born to be a mom," Peña’s childhood friend, Zelina Ochoa, told KENS 5, fighting back and wiping off tears. "She really loved being a mom."

Del Rio is a city of 35,000 in southwest Texas near the Mexican border.

Police said officers responded around 2:10 p.m. Thursday to Val Verde Regional Medical Center after receiving a report that a woman had arrived with multiple stab wounds from an assault at a busy intersection.

"This wasn’t something that happened in a back alley; this happened at the corner near Sonic on one of our busiest roads in broad daylight," Ochoa told KENS 5.

Because of the severity of her injuries, the woman was taken to a San Antonio medical facility for emergency treatment, police said. Investigators were notified around 9 p.m. that she had died after being stabbed twice in the back and a third time in her stomach.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video, processed evidence and interviewed witnesses before identifying Kitty Diaz, Cookie Diaz and Faz as suspects, police said. Kitty Diaz and Cookie Diaz were arrested without incident around 4 p.m. local time Thursday, and Faz was arrested a short time later.

Another friend, Christina Salinas, told the outlet she missed a call from Peña shortly before the stabbing and later recognized her in a photo suffering from the wounds circulating on a community page.

"I feel like if I would have answered that call, honestly I would have been there with her," Salinas said. "It wouldn’t have gotten like that."

Police have not publicly released a motive.

Salinas said she rushed to the hospital and was able to say goodbye before Peña was flown to San Antonio.

The investigation remains active, and police said additional charges could be filed as detectives continue gathering evidence.

Peña is survived by her five children – the oldest a 17-year-old son – and a twin sister, according to reports.

"If you needed something and she had it, even if it was her last, she’d give it to you," Ochoa told KENS 5.

I finally was able to break free of my losing streak with a win yesterday.

I won't say it didn't have its sweaty moments, because the game ended 4-3 in extra innings. However, that still gave us a win on the under. Any time a game goes into extra innings, you have to get a little nervous, especially with the runner on second rule. We dodged a bullet there, and hopefully we can dodge another one here.

The New York Yankees look like they are the best team in the American League, and they don't even have their best player. The team is getting some surprise contributions from guys like Paul Goldschmidt, who I thought was done with his days of being a contributor.

The team is hitting .241 for the season, and they have one of the better pitching staffs in the game as well. They are a legitimate World Series contender. The question is if the pieces can all fit together for the whole season. We've seen multiple teams fall apart after a good half of a year. The Yankees can look at their National League counterpart from last year to know that a good half doesn't assure you of anything.

Today, they turn to Carlos Rodon, who has been one of the better pitchers in the Yankees' rotation. For the season, Rodon is 4-2 with a 3.70 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. None of those numbers are eye-popping, but for a third starter on the team, they are very welcome. He hasn't been quite as sharp on the road as he has been at home, throwing to a 4.26 road ERA. The good news for the Yankees is that they seem to have found him to be consistent - he will give you five or six innings and three or fewer runs. Boston Red Sox hitters don't have a great history against him, batting just .227 in 75 at-bats.

If the Red Sox are somehow able to make it into the postseason, this is one of those series they will look at as the launch pad for their success. They have already won the four-game set from the Yankees, and now they are looking to get the sweep. Boston hasn't been very good this year, and are still 11 games under .500. They only had 12 wins at Fenway coming into this series, so getting three against a good team has to feel like a step in the right direction for them.

Even on the broadcast yesterday, they were talking about trading away guys. There is still no indication of whether they are going to do that or if they will take a different course of action. As of right now, Sonny Gray, today's starter, has to be fairly high on people's wish lists if they are going to listen to offers. Gray has been very good this year going 9-1 with a 2.95 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. His performance at Fenway is a major reason Boston was getting any wins there. He has a 2.61 home ERA and a perfect 4-0 record. We have bet on him multiple times at home this season, and he really hasn't disappointed.

Gray faced the Yankees at the beginning of the month and went 6.1 innings, allowing three earned runs and two homers. This month has been a bit strange for Gray with homers because he has allowed five homers in four starts. The rest of the year, he has allowed just four homers in 10 starts. I'm not sure what is causing it or if it is just regression to the mean.

Either way, today is a day to once again back the under. With these two pitchers on the mound, we should see the teams swinging and missing quite a bit. It would be really strange for me to see them getting a bunch of hits strung together. I think we should get a final of something like 3-1 or 4-2. Give me the under for this one.

"But I’ve never been more proud of anybody in my life with the way Arch battled through what he had to go through last year, and the way he played, you know, the last eight or nine games of the season."

The buzz is going to grow again with a few months left before the start of the college football season. Arch Manning is going to be expected to bring the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff and set himself apart from the other potential NFL Draft quarterback prospects.

DAVID MARCUS: 'Permanent' temporary status is bad for refugees and worse for America

Democrats across the country are up in arms over the Supreme Court’s decision last week, in Mullin v Doe, which allows the Trump administration to follow through on its plans to send back hundreds of thousands of temporary refugees from Haiti and Syria.

The debate over temporary protected status for refugees hinges on that first first word, "temporary," and it is reasonable for Americans, who bear the brunt of caring for these refugees, to ask what it actually means.

For his part, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who appears to be the communist leader of the national Democratic Party these days, had this to say: "The Supreme Court just sparked one of the largest attacks on immigrants in modern American history. In one fell swoop, thousands of Haitians and Syrians now risk losing the right to live and work in the country they call home."

Setting aside the question of whether any of us could just suddenly call Gracie Mansion home and move in with Zo and Rama, what exactly does "home" mean here?

What is vital to understand in thinking about these questions is the core difference between a refugee and an immigrant, and the very different impacts that these two groups have on the native populations they come to live with.

For immigrants, the desire, and even need, to assimilate into American culture is paramount. After all, their children and grandchildren will be living here. But for refugees, there is always the possibility they will return home, hence the word "temporary."

The upshot of this temporary status, as I have seen on the ground in Springfield, Ohio, and in Minneapolis, are populations of thousands of Haitians and Somalis, respectively, who are basically given license to live as they did at home, all with taxpayer benefits.

Of course, business owners who employ the Haitians in Springfield, along with the Chamber of Commerce and the libertarian Cato Institute, think this is wonderful. They get a taxpayer-subsidized workforce, which they claim is superior to employing native-born workers.

But according to the people of Springfield I spoke with in 2024, what they actually get is an influx of 20,000 foreigners into their town of 50,000. Native-born students told me the public school became pointless for them, as they tried to accommodate the mostly French-speaking Haitians.

Meanwhile, the parents of young adults in Springfield decried the lack of housing stock now, as Haitian refugees rent the houses where they would otherwise visit their grandkids.

Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, who has been a champion for these invaded communities, explained on X how the problem is even worse than we thought.

"By the way, many of the Haitians who were given TPS under Joe Biden did not come from Haiti," Gill wrote. "They were living in nations like Brazil and Chile and came here to take advantage of Biden's open border. They were sent, not to Martha's Vineyard or Sherman Oaks, but to blue-collar, midwestern towns like Springfield, Ohio. And the people there were called racist for objecting to the culture of the town they built being fundamentally changed overnight."

This really is the problem in a nutshell. Temporary status that lasts for years, or even decades, is bad for the refugees, because it discourages assimilation. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Harrisonburg, Virginia, has been an official refugee relocation site for decades and it works because they take in about 200 a year, not tens of thousands. They also offer language and job training. It is a system and it works.

In Springfield, we see not a system, but a deluge, and not for nothing, the native folks had almost no say over this drastic change to the place they call home.

Sadly, under President Joe Biden and the Democrats, temporary protective status simply became a backdoor for amnesty, but with far more government goodies. These are not, for the most part, people fearing death or punishment in their homeland. They are simply seeking a better life in ours.

It is absolutely regrettable that the Biden administration, allowed over 10 million illegal immigrants and thousands of refugees into the country, because in so doing, it made common-sense immigration reform impossible until that mess is cleaned up.

The Supreme Court was right to rule that the Trump administration can remove these temporary migrants, and Trump should act forcefully.

In Springfield in 2024, there was great anger from citizens who believe their local politicians and officials sold them out to keep the flow of cheap Haitian labor coming. They knew they had one recourse: voting for Donald Trump, which they and millions of frustrated Americans did. Now, Trump can fulfill his promise to them.

Fetterman warns Mamdani risks 'constitutional crisis' by vowing to defy SCOTUS immigration ruling

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., warned of a "constitutional crisis" Saturday as his fellow party members turned a blind eye to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's vow to defy a Supreme Court ruling reinforcing President Donald Trump's power to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian and Syrian migrants.

Appearing on "Saturday in America," Fetterman cited prior Democratic warnings of a "constitutional crisis" under Trump, detailing his attempts to assuage fears by pointing out that the Trump administration had yet to defy court rulings.

"I haven't seen the freak-out now that the mayor of New York is now saying I'm going to defy the Supreme Court ruling," he told host Kayleigh McEnany.

"Many of the members in my party are not calling him [Mamdani] out... Fetterman's commentary came on the heels of the High Court handing the president two immigration-related legal victories last week. Both were tied to his administration's efforts to reduce asylum claims.

In the first, Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, the court held that migrants who are turned away at the border before entering the United States are not entitled to apply for asylum.

NY GOVERNOR HOPEFUL VOWS SHOWDOWN WITH MAMDANI OVER SOCIALIST AGENDA: ‘I WILL STOP HIM’

In the second, Mullin v. Doe, the court ruled that Haitian and Syrian nationals in the United States with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) could not receive judicial relief postponing the revocation of their status while they challenge the Trump administration’s efforts to revoke it in court.

Combined, the rulings afford the Trump administration a new avenue to limit asylum claims at the border and more leeway to move forward with ending temporary protections for certain migrants already in the country.

Mamdani, in a video statement regarding the latter case, stated the ruling was not something his administration "will ever accept."

Fetterman has repeatedly warned against far-left politicians like Mamdani who have appeared to gain steam within his party.

Others, including Maine Senate candidate Graham Planter, Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, Washington, D.C. mayoral candidate Janeese Lewis George and a trio of progressive candidates in New York City have sparked broader conversations about the Democratic Party's leftward shift.
