These resolutions are goals that the wisher hopes to achieve. Each individual creates a goal that can benefit him or her or improve his or her life in one way or another. Although New Years resolutions are tailored to the individual in question, there are many common goals set at the first of the year. What are they?

To lose weight. Weight loss is by far one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions. Part of this is due to the fact that many Americans are overweight and obese. Still, even those who are in good health make the resolution to lose weight because they want to be perfect. Regardless of your reason for wanting to lose weight, know that you are not alone.

Although weight loss is a popular New Year’s resolution, it is also the resolution most commonly given up on. If you truly want to lose weight, know you will experience ups and downs. You will not lose weight immediately. For many, it is easy to lose weight, but hard to keep it off. The best way to turn your New Year’s resolution into a reality is to not just focus on weight loss, but the components of it, such as diet and exercise.

To get out of debt. Debt is a problem that many Americans face. As many find themselves unemployed or with reduced hours, more individuals are turning to credit cards to pay their bills and survive. This results in debt. If you are not in debt, make your New Year’s resolution to avoid it. If you are in debt, start digging your way out and know that you are not alone.

If you want to get out of debt this year 2009, you will want to take it one step at a time. Those with over $10,000 in debt often get overwhelmed and stop trying. Do not let this happen. When you rid yourself of debt, it will literally feel as if a great weight has been lifted off your shoulders. So, reduce your spending, save money, and apply it towards your debt. When doing so, pay off all secured debts first.

To get organized. Organization is another popular New Year’s resolution. Most Americans lead hectic lives. Many have demanding jobs with long hours or children who participate in extra curricular activities. With limited free time, it is easy for a home or office to become overrun and cluttered. That is why many make the resolution to get organized. The good news is that it is relatively easy to do.

If your New Year’s resolution is to get organized, also incorporate cleaning. For example, sort and file all papers on your desk, but scrub it first. If your resolution is to organize your entire home, take it one step at a time so that you do not get overwhelmed. For example, start with your kitchen then move to the living room and so forth.

To find a new job. A large number of Americans are stuck in a job they don’t like. Of course it is important to get the bills paid, but you should be doing something you love. For that reason, join the crowd and make the resolution to find a job that not only pays the bills, but makes you happy.

To get a raise. As previously stated, finding a new job is a popular New Year’s resolution. If you are pleased with your job, you may not want to change it, but you may want more money. When it comes to getting a raise, you have a number of options. You can ask or you can wait and see. If raises are based on performance reviews, don’t ask. Instead, improve your productivity at work. Meet all deadlines, extend help to coworkers, volunteer for additional projects, and so forth. The extra money in your paycheck will soon fall into place.

Would you enjoy the integrity to uphold your status, believes, etc by saying no without feeling stress. Would you like to enjoy a clear goal, which you set based on your understood wants. You know by now how to reach for those goals. Would you like to boost energy that helps you to focus on you and what your future holds? Do you see a balance in your life that helps you to clearly see your needs? Do you focus your attention on those needs? Do you have your rights in perspective, giving you the freedom to make your own decisions based on your choices? Do you see an exciting future that is well planned to bring you to self-improvement?

You can achieve each part named in this article by taking a few steps to improve your personal life. You have many options in life that gives you the chance to make good decisions. The decisions you make make your life either miserable or brightening. It is up to you to make the necessary changes that bring you rewards.

When you consider your personal lifestyle, you should take in consideration that this involved you human overall existence as well as your everyday moves. You have personal decisions and choices that contribute to your own individuality. You have options to coach, or find coaches that lead you to success, or you have counsel that will guide you to a successful way of living.

Life is based on survival, which includes nutrition, exercise, and living without addictions. You also need shelter to uphold survival. Personal improvement also consists of job. It is your personal decision as to what job you want to seek, yet if you work at a place of employment that does not back your survival needs, and does not make you happy, you are not improving your personal life. For this reasons you, want to evaluate your job.

Does your job make you feel happy? Do you produce enough cash flow to stay afloat? Does your job provide you the survival kit you need to live happily? If you answered no, what can you do to find a job that gives you advantages? You want to look at the whole pie. If you lack skills to obtain a job that fits your survival, can you return to school to gain skills to help you grow?

To improve your personal life you will also need to consider self-awareness. Do you see yourself in many lights, or standing in one position? Use your self-awareness tool to pull up resources that assist you with improving your life. For instance, if you are stuck at a job that barely assists you with survival, brainstorm to find new skills or ideas that help you to make better choices.

What about self-actualization, do you have the ability to act on your own behalf, or do you rely on others to carry your load?

If you answered yes, then you need to work on acting on your own behalf. It takes you to make the necessary changes that lead you to improving your personal life. Do you have self-fulfillment? Do you see yourself as a satisfied person? Do you feel that something is missing in your life? If you said no, then you need to evaluate your self, using self-awareness tools to find out what empty void inside you is holding you back. If you discover the void, take steps to find fulfillment.

*******************

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

*******************

For some of us it is hard to change, yet if you take steps to learn ways to change you will find positive reflections.

Many people are brought up lying to self and others. This happens because we are plagued by a world filled with opinions, philosophy, theories, suspicion, guesses, and conclusions. You have to learn how to find your own truth before you can improve your life.

What are some of the things I can do to change my bad ways to good ways?
This is going to be completely up to you. We can only offer you helpful tips, but it takes you to try out new tactics that helps you to grow. No one can change you, but you. when your ready to do this you can do this with out any ones help. You can learn to build the inner gifts you have within you. The qualities you have include self-esteem, confidence, trust, self-awareness, self-motivation and so on. each quality you can build to improve your personal life. You have to figure out what works for you.

For one thing, you need to decide what is making you do what you do and figure out a way to do the right thing. So if it is the people you hang out with maybe you should find some one else to hang with. Maybe people from a support group or a group from your church can help you find ways to change your habits. The first things you have to do however, are stop lying to your self about what ever and make it right with you. You have to learn how to make good decisions by evaluating the consequences.

It is easier than you believe. For instance, would you allow a drunk person drive you home? If you would then you made a bad decision that could cost your life, or have you tossed in jail. If you are sober, why not drive the drunk person home.

Positive reflections include friends and family. If your family members are dragging you down, or your friends are holding you back, you have to make a choice. The choice may include removing these people from your life. We can all live productively and happy without family and friends if need be, but one thing you don’t want is someone holding you back.

To develop new skills that guide you to remove bad habits, try using your conscious mind. When you observe, listen and hear the things around you, you learn more than you would reading a book. Observation is the key to achieve. Observation, includes self-awareness. Stand back and take a hard look at you. Do not persecute or self-judge, rather look for ways to make your life better.

Do you smoke?
Smoking is the number one reason that people get lung cancer. Smoking is not good for you. If you can quite on your own, great, yet if you need help, ask.

Do you drink excessively?
Do you know the side effects of drinking excessively? If not visit the Internet and learn more about what alcohol can do to you. On the other hand, if you can control alcohol, drink three drinks per week. Studies has shown that drinking three alcohol beverages weekly can reduce the risks of heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and so on. If you take drugs, you want to find a way to take control of your life also.

Stress brings about (say it!) aging. While the rest of the world is turning out of your hand, you are most likely at home, savoring what’s left of your weekend after a looooong week of work. You feel tired, almost suicidal, and then, when you look at the mirror, you stare in horror. You just got hold of the worst news since Hurricane Katrina; you got wrinkles.

Be more than a boarder on your home! Beautify it! In this way, you won’t be dreading every waking moment in it. Add some spice in your routine. Trust me, it will bring out the young punk in you and you will forget you’re not getting any younger (well, physiologically).

FILL YOUR HOME WITH GOOD MEMORIES

Remember your pre-school picture where you are smothered in dirt and you still managed to flash a toothy grin? Remember your prom picture where you wore make-up even if it’s against your will? They actually represent very good memories that can make you feel both nostalgic and cheerful at the same time. Seeing these memories triggers a part of the brain that recalls that memory and connects it with good moods.

Everybody knows that good moods bring out the best in us. It helps us become more optimistic through life and become more productive. Come on, you know there’s a lot more to think about than having a Botox injection or not.

You might have heard a lot of times that to stay young, you must smile all the time. With a lot of good memories haunting your home, what’s not to smile about?

HAVE AN ARTSY HOME

Old = boring. That’s how 90% of the world sees it and you can’t help but agree. Look around your home. If the dominant color is anything neutral (gray, brown, black or white) then it’s about time that you redirect your creativity. Neutral is boring. Pastels, neon linings and bold designs spell F-U-N!

If you can’t remember the last time that you’ve been fun then you’ve really aged. Recollect the atmosphere of fun. However, do not mix a lot of colors at the same time. Consult with someone who is good in interior design or read interior design books to have a guide. This is important because you don’t want your home looking like a day care center gone wrong.

Next, you can also consider filling your home with really good art. Put up bold paintings of local artists (local is cheaper but not necessarily of less quality). Frame good poetry on a fine quality paper with professional calligraphy. Even 10,000-piece puzzles and sophisticated cross-stitch pieces make good aesthetic treats. Choose carefully the quality of art that you put in your home. If you must, consult someone who finished a fine arts degree or even a college student of fine arts. Lastly, choose the art that you fall in love with. It should be something you can stand (and be happy) to see every single day.

HAVE A STOCK OF FEEL-GOOD FOOD

There are certain foods that don’t feel right when eaten every day. There are also certain foods which have the marvelous capability to make you feel better after eating it. Examples of feel-good food are those which are usually eaten after a break-up, a termination and after failing a subject.

Foods such as chocolate, ice cream, cakes are also connected with feel-good memories. Consider stocking up on these foods so whenever you feel like pigging out, do so in your own home and more importantly, do not apologize for it. That’s one of the best features of youth. Hmm. Smaller amounts of a good tasting wine or alcohol is optional too. Today you can find a well so good improved suite of healthy snacks in local stores and internet webstores as well.

You may not be getting younger, but hey, you can “retire” in your own home every day. Stay young, stay fun and stay passionate about life.

The
words are simple and everyone who can speak English knows
the words, from a toddler to someone who is 100 years old.

Comprised of 4 bars, 16 words each the tune is simple and
the meaning is deep.

In fact, according to the Guinness Book of World Records,
Happy Birthday is the most popular song in the English
Language.

And although it has been translated into many different
languages, it is usually sung in English, even in countries
that don't speak English as their primary language.

The Hill sisters composed the tune, 'Happy Birthday To
You', in 1893. Originally the schoolteachers wrote the tune
to a song entitles 'Good Morning To You' and was sung to
the classroom every morning.

But the version we know was copyrighted in 1935 and the
copyright is scheduled to expire in 2030. In fact,
technically it is illegal to publicly perform 'Happy
Birthday To You' unless royalties are paid to the Summy
Company and its owner Warner Chappell who bought the
company in 1990.

The value of the song itself is estimated at $5 million. It
is still unclear who wrote the words to the song though.

Because of some strict copyright issues, filmmakers rarely
show the full content of the song being performed in any
movies. This is why sometimes you will see the
public-domain song 'For He's A Jolly Good Fellow'
performed instead, or the song being removed entirely.

Such is seen in Europe's
history thousands of years ago.

Originally, a person feared their upcoming birthday. It was
seen as a fearful experience because people believed bad
spirits could harm you on this day.

Birthday parties were devised as a way to keep those
spirits away by surrounding yourself with friends and loved
ones who often brought small tokens and food to share.

People would use noisemakers to scare off any evil spirits
that may be lurking around the house.

It was in the middle ages that birthday parties began to
take on a more celebratory state and the tone turned more
positive. But they were not yet commonplace amongst
peasants. In fact, most birthday parties were only
celebrated by royalty or the very wealthy.

It wasn't until reformation that the birthday party became
a more common occurrence in England. People then began to
make cakes and treats for the birthday person and would
often tuck small fortune tokens into the cake for guests.

It is thought that children's birthday parties originated
in Germany and was called Kinderfeste.

Over time, birthday parties have evolved from small
gatherings to ward away evil spirits, to wealthy or royalty
held events to what is now known as our modern birthday
parties.

In fact, most people celebrate with some sort of party,
especially children. A cake is typically commonplace and
almost always is alit with birthday candles, which the
birthday person gets to blow out and make a wish.

I’m not talking about giving gifts; I’m
talking about giving time and effort to make a
difference in another person’s life. Putting some
effort into giving is so much more rewarding than
taking.

Time is the most wonderful gift you can give anyone.
Anyone who has or had a great parent will tell you
that the greatest gift their parent gave them was
time. Time to read, time to play, time to talk and
time to listen is fantastic gifts to children and is
never forgotten.

Do you give enough time to your loved ones now that
you’re an adult? Knowing that it is a precious gift
that costs nothing at all makes it so easy to give!

Now, make an actual effort to give someone your time.
For example, call a friend, or a Church member you
know, or your sister-in-law and invite them to coffee;
not someone you’ve invited before, but someone new.

Or go visit someone who is cooped up at home or in the
nursing home. Bake someone cookies, or take a plant or
a bouquet of flowers from your garden. Make a
connection and make an effort to keep that connection.

Giving, in lieu of taking, is so much more rewarding
and will be a huge source of inner happiness for you,
not to mention those lives you will touch. Giving is a
true win-win gift!

As we grow and
learn more about ourselves and life, those career
ideas change and grow.

As we experience new relationships, hobbies and events
in our lives, we develop interests and ultimately we
become passionate about some of them. It’s these
passions that make the stressors of life dissipate.

What may have been a passion in our twenties may very
well change in our forties or fifties or beyond. We
may find that the career we chose in college no longer
satisfies our needs, once our basic needs have been
met.

While once our passion was making enough money to pay
the bills, our passion in our fifties may become a
desire to help others. As we’ve developed personal
skills, we may find that we are gifted in public
speaking; what could be better than talking about your
passion and making money at the same time?

Unfortunately, many people fail to live a life filled
with passion. Fearful of rejection or of success keeps
many people from pursuing their dreams; many people
simply don’t have enough faith in themselves to reach
for the stars.

What makes you happy? Do you have a hobby that you
just can’t get enough of? Take the step of writing
down any way that you could make money at doing your
favorite thing and try it in your spare time. You
might find a new career doing exactly what you are
passionate about!

"Write about what you know." That is because if you speak from your own area of expertise, you will speak with authority and passion. And authority and passion not only make for a great story or novel, they make for a really good public speaking event as well.

When you are putting together what you will use for your talk to that group you want to amaze, you want both of those elements, authority and passion. But on top of that, you have to give them something to make it perfect. You have to tell them something they don’t know. To achieve a balance of what is familiar with what is new and fascinating will be the stuff of your research and preparation for public speaking.

Sometimes telling them something they don’t know might be just bringing a new joke that they have not heard. Or you might bring a fascinating story or anecdote that will lead directly into your talk. That can grab their attention and let them know that this is going to be an interesting take on the subject. Finding jokes that nobody has ever heard before can be a challenge. But that is ok because canned "jokes" are not best for your speech anyway. It is much better to find a funny or very amusing situation that relates to the topic from your past. By telling the story of that situation with plenty of self referencing humor and commentary, you can have your audience very amused as you move into the body of your speech but at the same time very interested in you and so in your topic.

Sometimes finding material that is new to your audience is obvious and easy to identify. It might be that you were invited to give the speech because you have some expertise in a subject that your audience wants to know about. If you are giving a speech about how to make your own PC from scratch and you know a lot about that, you are in good shape right off the bat. Your listeners are sure to learn plenty from your presentation and have lots of questions for you after your talk. You told them something they didn't know.

However, if your topic is a little more in the area of common knowledge, you might have to do some research to find things to share that will get those eyebrows to raise. One rich repository of little known facts lie in what we call trivia and urban myth. You might be giving a talk about the internet. Now most of us know quite a bit about the internet. But with a little research, you can uncover a lot of trivia about how the internet came to be, how the internet actually works at a structural level or whether or not Al Gore really did invent it (he didn't).

But the internet is also a great topic to go out and pull in literally dozens of urban myths that will make for a very enjoyable presentation. From how viruses work to whether or not that African prince really will send you 5 million dollars or not can give you lots of things to share that your listeners probably did not know (incidentally - he won't).

So approach your research both to fill your speech with good solid content but also to include information that may be amusing or anecdotal to give your listeners something to talk about over coffee later on. If you make your speech that memorable, they will think of you as a great speaker and probably ask you back again.

Birthdays are the day most people in many
cultures celebrate the anniversary of their birth.

Most people mark this special day with a party and gifts
are given. These gifts are sometimes known as a rite of
passage during special milestone birthdays.

During birthday parties one of the most popular traditions
is the birthday cake. Typically ornately decorated and lit
with candles that the birthday person gets to make a silent
wish on then blow out.

The number of candles on the cake coincides with the age of
the person blowing the candles out. Sometimes when the
number of candles is too great, people use special number
candles readily available.

Also it is a common tradition for the birthday person to
cut and receive the first piece of cake.

On someone's birthday, they are supposed to receive special
treatment from family and friends. This includes, gift
giving, special meals or dining out.

Children's birthdays usually include games and sometimes
special entertainment like a clown or magician. Parties can
include balloons, streamers and party favors for guests.

Special gifts for birthdays sometimes include the giving of
a birthstone. This is a precious stone that goes with the
month of birth.

Birthstones seem to originate from biblical times. There is
also a list of birth flowers. Like the stones, this lists
flowers that match the month of birth. It is considered to
be very good luck to receive your birth flower on your
birthday with the number of blooms matching your age.

Some of the top countries that benefit from child sponsorship include Africa, India, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

It is not, however, only the developing countries that receive child sponsorship, but also those of develop ones. Even powerhouses such as the United States have children support organizations that help out the young through means of donation. This denotes the diversity and span in which sponsoring children and young adults are applied.

Saving Lives

There are basically two ways in sponsoring the young – either through individual or organizational means. As individuals, this is directly giving out help to those who are in need of it. As organizations, there are specific institutions that act as the ‘bridge’ for sponsors and child sponsees, where they find the best possible candidates for support and most efficiently utilize the ‘help’ donated by sponsors.

But how does this sponsorship save lives? The number of ways in which this kind of support assists in the improvement of living and prevents loss of life is beyond counting. In developing countries, areas that have been witness of war, economic ruin, political turmoil, natural disasters, and oppression (most often girls and women) – the donations that are given address these issues and focused on the improvement of a child’s life.

In more specific ways, individuals and organizations work with the family of the child and other community members to develop the ability of that community to ‘take care’ of itself. The child that is given assistance benefits from programs that enable him/her to attend and succeed at school, provide needed medical care and orientation in hygienic living.

Child sponsorship not only helps the children, but their family as well. Families are given the knowledge on how to improve their lives by economic programs that provide parent trainings which teach them how to properly support themselves and their children. These programs are most often through proper child sponsorship organizations. Some organizations that practice these applications of programs are Save the Children, UNICEF, and Food for the Hungry.

The Sponsor’s Role as Hero

Of course when one helps another, it is always a two-way effect. The one helped and the helper, although in different manners, are affected. Sponsors have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children by giving out support.

A very important point to understand that the assistance given, whether financial or otherwise, is not only a physical act on economical or community improvement. In its core, child sponsorship is giving hope to those who need it. It is letting the community and the children involved know that they have a chance in living a good life. This point is essentially the most important gift that sponsors (most often unconsciously) give.

As the chain reaction of giving leads to saving lives, sponsors become heroes in the sense that they have helped. Their assistance, however meagre, provided the chance for life improvement by allowing the children and communities involved the access to opportunities they’ve never had.

Although the Greeks
were the first to use cakes to celebrate birthdays, they
were commonly used to celebrate the birthdays of gods and
goddesses.

And the inclusion of candles on a birthday cake is also of
Greek origin as the cake to celebrate the birthday of the
Greek moon god Artemis was topped with lit candles.

In the middle ages, the English would conceal symbolic
items inside the cake. Each item was a prediction for the
finder's future.

Usually items such as gold coins, rings and thimbles were
baked into the cake. The birthday cake made its way to
Western culture in the mid 19th century and has been an
important part of birthday celebrations since.

When cutting into ones birthday cake, there are little
superstitions some people believe. If the knife touches the
bottom, or when pulling the knife from the cake itself
there are pieces of cake stuck to the knife, than the
birthday person must kiss the nearest person of the
opposite sex.

Another belief is when you blow the candles out on your
cake, you are supposed to make a wish. If the candles are
blown out in one blow and the wisher keeps the wish a
secret, then it is believed the wish will come true.

Birthday cakes are typically highly decorated with lots of
colors and flowers or something of that sort. For kids, it
is popular to have cartoon characters or their favorite
them on the cake.

Cakes can go from home made, simple designs to more
elaborate cakes that can cost hundreds of dollars.

Here is a place with great happy birthday cakes.

The misperception that the technique of becoming good at public speaking is all in how you speak. The truth is that your voice is only part of what you need to be successful in giving a presentation to a group of people. To be an effective public "speaker", you should use every resource you have including your body language, your arms and your legs to capture the attention of the crowd and hold it.

There is nothing more boring than a speaker who stands in one place and never moves his arms and speaks softly just putting out the information of the talk. So to avoid this curse, learn not only to communicate with your entire being when you are in front of an audience. Learn to express yourself with facial expressions, with gestures of your arms and with movement. Because that extra effort is what can make a fair presentation good or a good presentation a great one.

A good public presentation can be compared to eating a meal in a restaurant. A good chef knows that there is more to fine dining than just food because you also must have good service and ambiance so the presentation of the food makes the meal delightful to eat. The same is true of a public speaking situation. It isn't enough just to stand up there and speak out the information. You are not just speaking because you are only really successful when you are communicating. And to communicate, your audience has to grasp what you are saying and be prepared to make it real in their own lives.

Movement is probably the most underused public speaking method but it is also one of the most effective. To put it bluntly, when you speak to a group, don't just stand there. Get out of the podium and move around a bit. Walk from one side of your speaking area to the other. Use your hands to help you describe an illustration or to gesture with emphasis toward the crowd when your text fits that kind of expression. This movement is good for you because it’s a way of walking off your nervousness. It's good for the audience because it keeps them interested. And it's very good for your presentation because it is a powerful way to get your point across and to assure you are being understood.

The relationship between public speaking and public performance is unmistakable. When you watch a speaker, the key word is "watch". Taking in the presentation of a speaker is an event that brings in all of the senses. And the more your audience actually "experiences you" rather than just hears what you say, the better they will like your presentation and the more likely they will be to agree with what you have to say or take action in the direction you had hoped they would.

Of course, it can be a nervous moment the first time you decide to step away from the podium and use your body as part of your presentation. If you walk and move in front of people, there is always the chance an accident can happen. You could swing your arms in emphasis and knock something over. You could trip over a microphone cord and be in danger of falling down. Or your wardrobe could malfunction because of the increased stress and that would be a horrible thing to deal with when everyone is looking at you. You can do take some extra measures to be sure your wardrobe is secure beforehand and to evaluate the speaking setting so you are aware of potential causes of accidents. But the possibility of a mishap is just a risk that you should be prepared to take because the movement you use is so powerfully effective that the rewards are too great to pass up.

The other risk is that by stepping away from the podium, you step away from your outline. To enable yourself to wean away from having to have that outline in front of you all the time, select one or two sections where you will depart the outline and share a personal story. Then your movement will be confident and effective. And when you can integrate confident movement into your presentation, your public speaking skills will go from good to great instantaneously.

Taking the negative slant on life
leads to a life of negative thinking that never sees
the good things that life has to offer.

Take a moment and write down all the things that are
wrong with your life. Then, on a different piece of
paper, write down all of the blessings you have. For a
negative person, this can be hard. Did you wake up in
a warm bed this morning? Was your bed warm? Was there
someone on the other side of the bed? Did you have
breakfast? Did you go to a job? In a car? Did you have
clean, decent clothes to put on?

Each any every one of these things are blessings and
are a positive part of your life. It can be so easy to
think about the negative things: I don’t get paid
enough, my car is old, and the cereal wasn’t fresh -
come on! Half the world would love to have the things
you took for granted just this morning!

What do you ever get out of life by looking at the
negative aspects of your life? Are you a complainer?
Are you a complainer because of your circumstances or
do your circumstances make you complain? How much
worse could things be? When you really think about
your life, aren’t you truly blessed compared to others
around the planet?

Try thinking positively as a way of finding happiness
and satisfaction in your life. Complaining does
nothing except make others around you feel bad, and if
that’s your intention, you need to re-think your
relationship.

Donations given to such institutions are often a large source of their income for operations and causes. There are generally two ways to receive donations – one is through philanthropic means; the other through business partnership or sponsorship.

One versus the other

Philanthropy is generally seen as the first means of giving when it comes to charitable foundations; sponsorship on the other hand, usually comes as an alternative. Although giving is generally thought as the much preferred method of funding; it may come as a surprise to know that sponsorship for non-profit institutions is a more rewarding and productive means of support for both parties.

Corporations typically have two main business reasons for sponsorship; and these are tax savings and public relations. Although any form of help or support generates an overall positive effect, it is mainly through these two reasons why sponsorship is pushed on by businesses.

In terms of satisfying both parties – sponsors get the chance to associate themselves with a charitable institutions and create a chance for them to acquire tax breaks, and at the same time expose their company name to the public. Sponsees, in this case the non-profit organization, are able to increase the level of support given by their current sponsors; and at the same time open new ways in gaining capital.

With philanthropy, the means of exposure and recognition is fairly low in percentage. Usually recognition is through annual reports that generate a little fanfare. Sponsorship, however, gives itself an amount of exposure that highlights a new partnership for the public to see. Through this publicity, the aim for awareness is reached by both sponsor and sponsee.

Some examples where sponsorship thrives in donations and public awareness are the following: A bookstore may donate books to an orphanage and at the same time let the public know about the store to gain customers. A clothing company sponsors specially designed t-shirts for volunteers to wear when there is a charitable event; and through wearing the t-shirt, the company not only helps in donating, but also makes the public aware of their brand.

Sponsorship for charities is basically seen as a win-win partnership. One helps the other through different gains and results. It is also through sponsoring, that charitable institutions have a lighter load on figuring out the means for which to get resources. For example, when an event is sponsored by a corporation, the charity wouldn’t have to worry how to provide the food and drinks needed since it would be covered by the sponsor’s funding.

By supporting through the use of sponsoring, a business uses their budget for advertising and marketing, leaving their funds for philanthropy (if there is ever) alone and untouched. Through using such a budget, the business is able to use the costs as tax-deductibles from their expenses. This way, sponsorship helps in letting the business be cost-efficient.

It should not be seen, however, that philanthropy is a less useful means for support. Donations and funding of this nature is often praised and well-advocated by the public. It is only shown that sponsorship has a more business-side in handling contributions and help to other organizations - where they see it fit to practice a give-and-take method; and see it best to have profit-producing ventures.

There are lots of unconventional birthdays that
are celebrated throughout the world. Actually, the number
of reasons to celebrate unconventional birthdays is
infinite.

People use the term -Birthday- to describe milestones in
their lives. The term is also used to mark important
beginnings or ends in a persons life.

Recovery group's use the term Birthday to mark the day a
person has entered into the 12-step recovery program and
quit drug or alcohol abuse.

This day is marked every year with a -birthday chip-, a
token to remind you of the hard work done to get through
that year and the long road still ahead of you.

Another term using birthday is -Birthday Suit-. There is
almost no need for explanation, but for those few who don't
know what a birthday suit is, it is the wearing of nothing.

On the day of your birth, you came out of the womb naked
therefore being in your -birthday suit- you are naked.

The term birthday can also be used for when something is
created. Typically the year, month and date are used when
describing the birthday of an entity. Businesses often have
a birthday to celebrate. That is usually the day the
company was created.

So not only do we as people celebrate the day we were
brought into this world, but we like to celebrate the day
of creation for the world around us.

It is a holiday that is celebrated in several
Commonwealth countries. It is also now celebrated in Fiji,
which is now a republic.

When appropriate the word Queen is replaced with King, and
the actual date varies from country to country, but it
usually doesn't mark the actual birthday of the King or
Queen.

Currently in the UK, the Queen's birthday is celebrated the
first, second, or third Saturday in June. The birthday is
marked with the Trooping the Colour, also known as the
Queen's Birthday Parade.

The Trooping the Colour is a military ceremony performed by
the British Army. The Queen or King is typically in the
parade also, and Queen Elizabeth II rode horseback to the
Trooping the Colour until 1987 when she began traveling in
a phaeton.

The Queen's Birthday has been celebrated annually in this
matter since 1820, except in periods of mourning, in bad
weather or other exceptional circumstances.

In face, Edward the VII moved the date to June because it
is generally the best weather in Britain.

In Australia, the Queen's birthday is on the second Monday
in June and is celebrated as a public holiday. It also
marks the opening of Australia's snow season.

In Canada, Victoria Day, which is their name for the
Queen's birthday, is celebrated the Monday on or before May
24, though there are some who acknowledge that it is to
celebrate Queen Victoria and not the current Queen. It also
marks the beginning of Canadian Summer.

But it has not always been celebrated at
the same time.

On the third Monday in February, we take time to celebrate
the birthdays of some former Presidents. Originally though
the Presidents birthdays were celebrated separately.

February 22 is George Washington's actual birthday and the
holiday we know now, as Presidents day was actually to
celebrate his birthday.

Lincoln's birthday was celebrated at a different time,
although his birthday is actually February 12. Lincoln's
birthday was never a federal holiday like Washington's.

The late 1980's is when the term Presidents Day began its
appearance with a push from advertisers. Now, Presidents
Day is to honor both Washington and Lincoln and often other
Presidents of the United States. But it is not the same
throughout the US.

In fact, in Massachusetts the governor issues an annual
Presidents Day proclamation honoring Presidents that come
from Massachusetts. Alabama observes the day as Washington
and Jefferson Day, and in Virginia, George Washington's
home state, the holiday is known simply as George
Washington Day.

So while we all celebrate this day dedicated to our
Presidents, it is easy to see that it is not as equally
revered throughout the country.

If you have, you may be interested in making an appointment at one of your local day spas. Regardless of where you live, you should have a number of options, as most cities and large towns have two or more day spas in the surrounding areas. So, what should you look for in a day spa?

Convenience is important. Day spas are often designed for those who stay for a whole day. They also cater to those who are looking to get away for just a few hours. If you are looking for something more or if you want to have a special weekend getaway, you may want to examine retreats instead. As for convenience, try to find a day spa that doesn’t require you to drive more than an hour.

When looking to choose a day spa to make an appointment at, affordable rates are also important. Most day spas have online websites and on those websites should be a summary of rates. You can also get an idea by placing a call to the spa in question. If you are interested in undergoing a massage, what are all of your options and how much do they cost? You may also want to inquire about packages. Spa gift packages are higher in price, but you often receive more. For example, a spa gift package may include a massage, facial, and a full body wrap.

Speaking of services, examine day spas that have a wide range of services. For the best selection, you may want to examine those that are known as day spas and salons. They often offer the perfect combination of services for both men and women. What better way to end a relaxing day of getting pampered than to walk out of the spa with a brand new haircut or professionally applied makeup?

When choosing a day spa to visit, the environment can and also should be examined. The environment and settings can be hard to examine if you haven’t visited in-person yet, but there is still a way that you can perform a quick examination. You can do this by visiting the online websites of your local day spas. They should have pictures posted. What do some of the service rooms look like? How about the waiting room? Do you think that you could get comfortable and relaxed there? If not, you may want to move on and examine your other options. Remember that an important part of getting pampered is feeling comfortable and relaxed.

You will also want to find a day spa that is well-known throughout the community. Day spas with good reputations in the community are likely to result in you having a better time. Customer service is important. The last thing you want is to have your massage or full body warp ruined by a rude spa worker. That is why you should first ask those that you know for recommendations. Friends, coworkers, family members, and neighbors, aren’t likely to recommend a spa that they or someone they know had a bad experience at.

You may also want to examine day spas and salons that have onsite shops. After a quick examination, you will find that most that are relatively large in size do. An onsite shop is nice, as you may be interested in purchasing a small gift for your child, like souvenir. You may also want to examine the health and beauty products that are sold. Many spas carry exclusive products that aren’t available in stores. You can find moisturizing lotions, at-home massage tools and accessories, aromatherapy candles, and so much more.

The above mentioned points are just a few of the many that you will want to take into consideration. As a reminder, a visit to a day spa should be a pleasurable, comfortable, and relaxing experience.

July 4th, 1776
is the day people celebrate the US Nations birthday.

For some this is just another day off, a day to watch
fireworks, party with family and friends, have a few beers
or take a little vacation. But there is so much more to
celebrating the US Nations birthday.

July 4th is an important day in the US history. It is the day
people should remember all of the rights and freedoms they
have as Americans and enjoy them. Many made the ultimate
sacrifice to ensure our freedom and freedom does not come
cheap.

On US Nations birthday, we should take time to remember
those who made those sacrifices. All of the 56 men who
signed the Declaration of Independence did not live to see
what their sacrifices provided us.

In fact, 5 signers were captured by the British and
tortured before they died. Twelve went home to find their
dwellings ransacked and burned and nine fought and died
from wounds or hardships of the war.

That is almost half the men who signed out nations greatest
symbol of freedom. But they signed it anyway, knowing that
in doing so, they were committing treason and could be
sentenced to death if they were caught.

Some take this holiday for granted. US Nations
birthday, July 4th should be celebrated with family and
friends.

Enjoy the fireworks and Bar-B-Q's, the picnics and the fun.
But take time to remember those who put themselves at risk
so people could live in a free country.

Most
of these birthdays are a sort of coming-of-age along with
increased privileges and responsibilities.

It starts from the beginning. The 1st birthday is typically
where it begins. Normally during a child's first birthday
it is more about the family and friends of the parents as
opposed to a party for the childs friends.

Most children on their first birthday are given either
their own small cake or their own piece to eat however they
like. This is usually messy because they go at it with
hands and mouths.

The next most important milestone birthday is usually the
13th birthday. This is when a child officially becomes a
teenager.

In some religions this is the year that a child becomes an
adult and begins to take on adult responsibilities. After
13 is the one most teens look forward to.

The 16th birthday is the year that most US states allow a
teen to legally drive without their parents present.

When a teenager celebrates their 18th birthday, they are
able to legally vote, join the military and are now
considered an adult.

The next milestone Birthday is the all-important 21st
birthday. This is the legal drinking age in the US.

The next milestone comes at 35. This is when in most
countries, someone can run for the highest political office
such as President of the United States.

After that, 40 is considered the over the hill birthday and
then typically every ten years is another milestone.
