I had the pleasure of taking Hannah's senior portraits recently, and it was such a blessing! We visited several locations for our session. I got to watch as she threw the key to her senior year lock off of the Swinging Bridge. We ended up on the ball field at Richland High School, finishing up right around sunset. WINDSOR RUINS outside of Port Gibson. Definitely a beautiful and historical site to see in Mississippi.

This is one of my favorite places in Mississippi. There are 23 massive columns still standing that were once part of the largest antebellum Greek Revival mansion ever built in the state. Windsor stood from 1861 to 1890, when it was destroyed by a fire.

I have had the pleasure of knowing this family for years, since I first photographed their son. It was so fun to try out a new location with them - a cotton field in the middle of the afternoon (when I normally wouldn't shoot anyone). The sun turned out perfect for the session, and I got several laughs watching Bradley and his dad poke and laugh at each other while we were shooting.

When I was asked to photograph this sweet little girl for her second birthday, I tried to think of what I could do to represent her personality while documenting this change in her life - turning 2 is a VERY big milestone! We went with a Storybook Session, which definitely portrayed her love for being a little lady, along with a little bit of sass!

It occurred to me that I've been behind on posting, so I'm trying to get caught up today. So much has gone on these past few months. And I'm blessed to continue to be able to do something that I love so much. The Lord has provided for me. Sometimes not how I've wanted, but he's given me more than I've often needed. This girl right here is an upcoming 2015 Senior Graduate who has received many honors. I love maternity sessions. Especially when it's for a family that I know and love. M + J have come a long way since we first began to document their pregnancy. And I loved being a part of their journey. For their latest documentary session, we took a much needed road trip down the Natchez Trace through Rocky Springs, Rodney, Port Gibson, and into Natchez. Spending the day with these two was a great adventure on its own. Can't wait to meet the little boy in this big belly!

One of the fun parts of documenting people's lives would have to be meeting so many different personalities. This little boy has quite the personality that leaves an impression! Not only is he handsome as can be, he kept me on my toes and had me running back and forth. We ran, played, chased birds, climbed, and decorated the miniature Christmas tree. It was definitely an adventure, and I'm thankful that I was given the opportunity to participate in part of his Christmas memories!

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. Not so much the cold air and freezing weather. But the general atmosphere and mood are spectacular. The feelings you get when there are decorations everywhere, lights glowing in the night air, and a warm blanket to cuddle up under. The parties, presents, and the food make it even more fun. But the best part of all is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

What better blessing than to be able to visit with clients and be a part of documenting their holiday memories. For this session, we visited multiple locations and decorated a miniature Christmas tree. These sweet little cousins had a blast.

We had a fun day shooting Amber's senior and fall portraits with her boyfriend Josh! The entire session went from downtown urban buildings to rural country roads with a field and a guitar. I'm thankful that my talent has allowed me to get out and experience the world, even when that's only in the next town. And more importantly, I'm thankful for clients like Amber and Josh. It is just as enjoyable to meet new people as it is to watch someone move forward with their life and their education.

Yet another fun session completed with an amazing family. We shot this one from two separate locations and it turned out to be quite a change from what I'm used to. Different, but totally fun! No matter how many times I say it, it never gets old being around people who become such a blessing to know.

This was my first wedding in the 3 years since I took a step back from photography and decided to focus on other things. I know this family well and couldn't have been happier to work with them. They are kind and generous God-fearing people who make you feel welcome and loved. C + J's wedding was beautiful and I pray that they have a blessed life together.

I admit, I got really excited to restart where I left off. But I realized I did not have the time to put into it that I had hoped for. I planned for a big project that I could not handle! AGH! What do you do? Why does this happen? Well, now, I have the time. I got some things out of the way and I am ready to roll. It might be a slow start, but it WILL be a start!

And what better way to get moving than to have the opportunity to document a special moment for a very special family? One of the biggest blessings that you could have is to be a parent. Two people that I know and love are "expecting", and I couldn't be more happy for them. They are very deserving and I know they will be great parents. I was excited when they asked me to document their maternity for announcements. OF COURSE I'LL DO IT!

Can't wait to see what's next for them and for Lightswept Photography!
