Consider More Than Energy Savings

When considering a move to LEDs for general illumination, companies should consider several factors in addition to energy savings. These include lifetimes, maintenance requirements, ability to use occupancy sensors, dimming capabilities, and heat gain from a fixture all contribute to an accurate cost of ownership of any lighting system.

Using these factors as a basis, Lusio Solid-State Lighting has compiled a series of documents that analyzes the Lusio Pro-Optics Series in several different applications against a fixture with a traditional light source and equivalent lumen output. In each case, Lusio Pro-Optics fixtures demonstrate a 1-year and 15-year cost of ownership savings when compared to T5HO, metal halide, or induction lamp fixtures. (Note: A 15-year period is used strictly as a period of evaluation. Lusio Pro-Optics fixture lifetimes are longer than 15 years.)

Every installation has its own specific variables that can affect cost of ownership. Use these examples as general guidelines and contact a Lusio sales representative with specifics about your application. In most cases, the savings possible with a Lusio Pro-Optics lighting system quoted in this document are conservative as compared to actual installations.

The Cost of Going Green

Leveraging the many benefits of an environmentally friendly Lusio Pro-Optics lighting system costs less than $0.60 per square foot per year operating 12 hours a day. Be sure to see the Lusio per Square Foot line item in each sample application to see how affordable it can be to “go green” with Lusio!

Download new Lusio Cost of Ownership Studies at http://lusiolighting.com/tools/ownership.asp. Additionally you can always contact us at info@LusioLighting.com to discuss your specific lighting project.

Lusio Cost of Ownership Studies

While the use of LEDs as accent lighting and architainment lighting sources is commonplace, it’s only in recent years that the light quality and output of LEDs has been substantial enough to use as a general illumination light source.

With this development in LEDs and the resulting availability in commercial and industrial LED-based fixtures, many companies have already installed or are strongly considering LEDs to illuminate a variety of spaces primarily to reap the energy savings LEDs offer over traditional light sources.

Consider More Than Energy Savings

However, when considering a move to LEDs for general illumination, companies should consider several more factors in addition to energy savings. Factors such as lifetimes, maintenance requirements, ability to use occupancy sensors, dimming capabilities, and heat gain from a fixture all contribute to an accurate cost of ownership of any lighting system.

Using these factors as a basis, Lusio Solid-State Lighting has compiled a series of documents that analyzes Lusio in several different applications against a fixture with a traditional light source and equivalent lumen output. In each case, Lusio demonstrates a 1-year and 15-year cost of ownership savings when compared to T5HO, metal halide, or induction lamp fixtures. (Note: A 15-year period is used strictly as a period of evaluation. Lusio fixture lifetimes are longer than 15 years.)

Every installation has its own specific variables that can affect cost of ownership. Use these examples as general guidelines and contact a Lusio sales representative with specifics about your application. In most cases, the savings possible with a Lusio lighting system quoted in this document are conservative as compared to actual installations.

The Cost of Going Green

Leveraging the many benefits of an environmentally friendly Lusio lighting system can sometimes be less than a $1 per square foot. Be sure to see the Lusio per Square Foot line item in each sample application to see how affordable it can be to “go green” with a Lusio lighting system.

Innovative SSL fixtures offer significant energy savings and provide solid lumen performance backed by 7-year warranties

Overland Park, Kansas – April 26, 2011 – Lusio Solid-State Lighting, a worldwide brand and division of LightWild, today announced the installation of Lusio SSL fixtures in CFM Distributor’s newest Midwest facility.

CFM Distributors specializes in supplying sustainable heating, cooling and refrigeration systems to professional heating and cooling contractors who install them for the Midwest’s consumers. They also focus on ensuring their own facilities and systems are as sustainable as possible. The company initially chose Lusio SSL fixtures when they expanded to their newest location in Omaha, Nebraska as they wanted the showroom’s lighting system to reflect the company’s embrace of the latest building technologies to reduce energy consumption.

“Lighting is a critical component of making a space as large as ours energy-efficient,” said Tom Roberts, President of CFM Distributors. “We explored several options and found that the Lusio Solid-State Lighting fixtures will pay for themselves over time by helping us lower our energy bills. The fixtures also provide an outstanding quality of light, and reduce the cooling load substantially. Being a supplier of heating and cooling systems, we are intimately aware of the cooling load imposed by conventional lighting systems. This Lusio installation resulted in substantial first cost HVAC system savings, as well as long term energy savings from both the lighting efficiency as well as the cooling load reduction. It’s a real win-win. A similar showroom of ours required two HVAC systems, while this one utilizes only one.”

Roberts noted Lusio’s cool operating temperatures and low maintenance requirements (70,000-hour L70 lifetimes) as additional key factors in choosing Lusio. Also, Lusio fixtures do not contain mercury or other harmful substances, which complements CFM’s environmentally friendly initiatives.

The fixtures installed by CFM Distributors are part of the Lusio Solid-State Lighting family that includes 80 models and five light distributions tailored to commercial and industrial facilities that utilize high bay, low bay, and aisle lighting fixtures.
