Wedding Monongram Frames

Super trendy and elegant set of frames. These are outstanding, symmetric and perfectly crisp graphics great for wedding invitations, letterpress, party decorations, logos and more. Will work great for embroidery.

FORMAT
PNG and JPEG files at 300 dpi. Please note: in order to edit PNG files you will need to have a software able to open and edit PNG files such as any Photoshop, Gimp, Paint.net etc. PNG files cannot be opened in Picture viewer.

SIZE:
Each frame measures about 6 inches wide.

How to recolor my wedding frames

This is a super easy tut to show you how to change the color of my wedding frames to make your own customized wedding monogram. You will need:

Photosho p (any version will work for this tutorial)
A set of digital frames illustrations.

To make these monograms, I will use my latest frame set, please find it here in my Etsy store.

Open the folder where you have the frames, choose the frame you like from the provided PNG files (do not open the JPEG files, those are only for embroidery).

Once opened, go LAYER/LAYER STYLE/COLOR OVERLAY

Or just double click on the frame layer (the area that is highlighted in blue in the picture below)

The layer style dialog will open (shown below). This dialog will allow you to recolor the graphic by adding a color overlay.

First, make sure the blend mode is set to normal, and the opacity is set to 100 %.
Click on the color box (where it says Set color Overlay, picture below), this will open the color picker.
Click on the desired color within the color picker and click OK close the color picker.
Click OK again, this time in the layer style dialog shown below to apply the changes and close the dialog box.

Now you can continue adding your text and background color as usual.

This is how you change the color those black frames, remember you always need to use the PNG file, this will not work with the JPEG file.

Photoshop CS5: Disable Tablet Pressure Controls

Photoshop CS5 has two tablet pressure controls that will override any settings applied to the current brush in the brush panel settings.
These controls are there to create realistic effects like if you were painting with a real brush, but sometimes, we just want to draw a steady line or we want to apply a brush with no special effects, so we need disable those controls.

1)TABLET PRESSURE CONTROL SIZE
This control affects the pressure, if you have this control enabled, the brush will be "pressure sensitive" and will override any settings applied to the current brush in the brush panel settings. The illustration below shows how the the brush tip changes its size to emulate a real artist brush when the control is enabled.Just click on the icon shown below to set the size control on or off

2) TABLET PRESSURE CONTROL OPACITY

This control affects opacity. If enabled will override any settings applied to the current brush in the brush panel settings. The illustration below shows how the the brush changes its opacity when the control is enabled. Just click on the icon shown below to set the size control on or off.

Custom Shapes Tutorial and freebie

This tutorial is for Photoshop users.

We will show you how to use custom shapes in Photoshop CS3, this tutorial will work in Photoshop CS2 and CS4 as well.

You can also find a quick tutorial for Photoshop Elements 6 at the end of this post.

You will need:

Photoshop CS2 to CS5. If you do not have Photoshop yet, you can find these photo editing programs here.
A set of CUSTOM SHAPES you can download here your free custom shapes to practice this tutorial.

DOWNLOAD THE SHAPES HERE

PLEASE NOTE: some versions of Photoshop will not accept custom shapes created in newer or older versions of the same software. Check for compatibility before purchase.

WHAT IS CUSTOM SHAPE?

CUSTOM SHAPES are vector images you can use within Photoshop. Because they are technically paths you can enlarge them as much as you want without any loss of image quality, pixelation or jagged edges. They are a great alternative when you have to work with large pages (photography, scrapbooking).

WHY DO I NEED A CUSTOM SHAPE?

If you enlarge a raster image beyond its original size in Photoshop you will get loss of quality and jagged edges.

However, custom shapes can be enlarged like a vector, many many times beyond original size, without any loss of quality.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CREATE VECTORS IN PHOTOSHOP?

Nope. You can enjoy this vector capability meanwhile you are working in Photoshop, however when you save your work you have to save it in a raster format (PNG, JPEG, etc). You cannot save your work in vector format such as EPS, AI, SVG.

HOW DOES A CUSTOM SHAPE LOOK LIKE?

Custom shapes look more like a stamp. They can be very simple shapes such as hearts or circles or very elaborated filigree-like designs.

Below is the custom shape picker box in Photoshop CS3. There you can see some of the shapes you have available.

If you don't see the shape you are looking for, you can load more shapes from your hard drive. All Photoshop versions come with a good set of default/native custom shapes. In Photoshop Elements you will find two different custom shape tools, the regular custom shape and the "cookie cutter" tool.

HOW TO USE CUSTOM SHAPES?

1) In Photoshop CS go to the toolbox and select the custom shape tool

2) Now go to the toolbar make sure you select shape layers option.

3 - Click on the little arrow you see on the right of the custom shape tool to open the custom shape options dialog, click on Defined Proportions, this will preserve the original proportions of your design.

4- Now is time to pick your custom shape, go to the toolbar and select the arrow using the custom shape picker. A dialog box with thumbnails will appear. Click on the image you want to use.

5- If you do not see the image you are looking for, you can load new shapes. Click on the little arrow located on the right (see the picture above this text) and this will open a new dialog. Choose Load Shapes

6- Once you clicked on Load Shapes you can go to the folder where you have the custom shape you want to load, click on it and here you have the new loaded custom shapes.

8- To start drawing, click on the desired thumbnail to select it, click and move the mouse until you reach the desired size. At this point the image will have an outer line or path. The path indicates that the image is still a custom shape which means you can continue resizing the shape without any loss of quality. When you are happy with the design, simply go LAYER/RASTERIZE/SHAPE. Now, because you rasterized the shape, you no longer have a custom shape, the outer line (path) disappeared and you have a regular raster image. Add styles or colorize your graphic as you wish.

11- You may as well set up a color or layer style before rasterizing the shape:

If you selected a layer style in advance like shown in the picture above, remember to remove the drop shadows before rasterizing, so that you can apply the same shadow settings to all the elements in your design.

HOW TO USE CUSTOM SHAPES IN PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS

Unlike Photoshop CS, you cannot load new shapes in Photoshop Elements 6, they have to be installed.

How to install your custom shapes Photoshop Elements 6

First close Photoshop Elements 6
Go to Computer/C to look for the folders where you will install the shapes.
Follow this path if you have Windows 7: Program files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/Presets/Custom Shapes and then paste the CSH file into the Custom Shapes folder
Or follow this path in Windows Vista: Program Data/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/6.0/Locale/en_us/Photo Creations/Custom Shapes and then paste the CSH file into the Custom Shapes folder.
The new custom shapes will load next time you open Photoshop 6.

HOW TO FIND THE THE CUSTOM SHAPE TOOLS IN ELEMENTS

Photoshop Elements has two custom shape tools. One of them is the regular custom shape tool, to activate just hit "U" this will open the rectangle tool, then choose CUSTOM SHAPE TOOL. See below.

The second tool is the COOKIE CUTTER, this tool will crop a layer (background, photo etc.) into a shape that you choose. To activate the cookie cutter just hit "Q".

Once you activated the COOKIE CUTTER, just choose the shape you wish form the custom shape picker click and move the mouse to draw.

To rasterize the shape, go LAYER/SIMPLIFY LAYER and you are done!
