The pledge is on wax and MP3: On his new single "Over," Drake raps, "Making sure the Young Money ship is never sinking." Even though the head of his label, Lil Wayne, is in jail, Drake insisted there's no way he'll let the camp slip from its top spot.

"I'm gonna do everything I told him I would do, what I said in the song: keep us afloat till he gets back," Drake said on the set of his "Over" video. "You won't even notice he's gone. Promise."

Last week, Wayne was sentenced to a year in jail for a 2007 gun-possession charge, but Drake knows his leader will be OK.

"Lil Wayne is a legend," Drake said. "I could never classify Wayne as victim. He's too strong to me. Wayne is who he wants to be. People don't understand. It's really not an act. Lil Wayne is a character you'll rarely run across, probably for the existence of human beings. He is that guy. He is Lil Wayne for a reason. He's a rock star, a visionary, a workaholic. He doesn't function like anybody I know. He's a rare breed.

"I don't think fame really has anything to do with his situation," Drizzy continued. "We take precautions. All of us do. To be in the public eye and to be envied and have people who hate you and never have met you or have people who love you and tattoo your face on their body and never have met you, it's an odd feeling for anybody. It's a rush [for me]. I love it. It gets weird sometimes. So it's just personal choices we all make. I never felt that threatened. I'm not sure what's going through his head at the time. But Wayne has a reason for everything, always. I trust in Wayne. I believe in Wayne. He's gonna be all right."

Shawty Lo Shoots 'Crazy' Video For 'WTF' With Lil Wayne

Much like his friend Rick Ross, Shawty Lo is thinking ahead. On Thursday, Ross announced a record called "Sweet Life" with John Legend as a future single. The song has not been released yet, but Ross and Legend already filmed the video. The same goes for Lo. He and Lil Wayne have a song called "WTF" coming soon, but the visual for the track is done.

"It's just what it stands for: 'What the F,' man," Lo said about the song. "It's crazy, man. It's a record me and Weezy did at the beginning of the month. We decided we might as well shoot the video for it. It's a good look. Everybody wants the song, but I'mma release it [NBA] All-Star Weekend. It's just basically street. 'What the F.' Our style of music. Nice beat, crazy lyrics."

Lo and Wayne shot the video on Tuesday. "It was crazy. Everybody came out and supported," Shawty said of the shoot. "We started 6 in the a.m. and didn't finish until 6 the next morning. We had a club performance, we had the rooftop performance and an inside-studio performance. Like, three, four good scenes. It's gonna be a good video. ... We got a lot of good footage."

Wayne and Lo's relationship goes back all the way to 2005, when Lo recorded his first song, "I'm Da Man"; Wayne and Rick Ross guest-starred on the track.

"Wayne is unbelievable. He's the hardest-working artist I know," Lo said. "He don't need a pencil. He goes off the top. Wayne is unbelievable. He came and blessed me with the video. I was gonna go to Miami, fly down there. But he came and we shot it in Atlanta, so it was a great look."

With Wayne's impending jail time on a weapons-possession charge next month, the Fireman has been working overtime to shoot videos for a myriad of records. There are two new Young Money clips in the can. This weekend, Wayne and Eminem film the video for "Drop the World," and the Shawty Lo video has been filmed.

"It means everything to me," Lo said. "It means a lot to have him on there, period. But to have one of the last videos before he goes in, we made history. A lot of people called and reached out, like, 'Lo, how you pull that off?' But real street cats recognize each other. He recognize real. I know he's real. We made it happen."

Before the Wayne video, Lo has a clip for the song "Atlanta, GA" coming soon. It guest-stars Ludacris and The-Dream. They also show love to Gucci Mane, who's on the song but couldn't make the video because he's in jail.

"Wait till you see how we did the Gucci Mane part," Shawty said. "You gonna think he was there."

Cash Money Records Founders, Birdman & Slim, Launch Indie Oil Company

Cash Money Records co-founders, Birdman and Ronald "Slim" Williams are trying their hands in another business venture outside the music world. They're now expanding their portfolios into the oil business.

The New Orleans-bred brothers have launched an independent oil and gas company called Bronald Oil & Gas.

Via the company's mission station on their website, BronaldOil.com, they say their initial focus is the "exploration, production and development of oil and gas reserves from conventional and unconventional formations."

Bronald, a combination of the brother's first names, say they have begun the process of acquiring leases "covering areas with historical production and the opportunity for re-entry drilling as well as new drilling opportunities."

Their current target locations include Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Florida, as well as Central America.

Although this is their first foray into the oil business, they make is clear that one of their main concerns during oil exploration is "preserving the environment."

They are also seeking investors.

"We welcome investors to join us in the exciting business of oil exploration," the website read.

Birdman even has a tattoo in celebration of the new venture -- an oil rig embedded with the words "Bronald". So, it looks like he's serious about it.

Of course Lil Wayne has infinite love for his hometown of New Orleans. He's shouted out his city in his songs, he performs there often and Weezy is generous in giving back to the community. But this weekend when the New Orleans Saints host the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship game, The Cash Money/ Young Money Millionaire will not be pulling for Drew Brees, Reggie Bush (Wayne name-checks on the Birdman's "Money to Blow"), and the rest of team Black and Gold. See, Wayne's favorite player, Brett Favre, plays for the visitors.

"I'm rooting for Brett because I'm a diehard," Weezy explained to us early Thursday (January 21). A signed Favre football is one of the prize possessions in Weezy's extensive sports memorabilia collection. As for who the dynamic performer thinks will win the game, Wayne — who's appeared on ESPN a few times to talk sports — gave his analysis from an unbiased standpoint. Minnesota has a superior ground game and defense in his opinion.

"I believe the Vikings will win because of the running attack," Wayne assessed. "The Saints give up about 150 rushing yards a game, and the Vikings have arguably the best running back in the game [Adrian Peterson]. ... I believe the Vikings defense will frustrate Brees."

The New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings have a 6:40 p.m. kickoff time on Sunday evening. The winner goes to the Super Bowl, where they will play the victor of Sunday's Indianapolis Colts/ New York Jets game.

Last week, a handful of hip-hop stars, including Jay-Z, Fabolous and Jermaine Dupri, offered their Super Bowl predictions. All three were wrong in picking the Cowboys to represent the NFC. Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Fabolous still have a shot to see their teams from the AFC go to the big dance. Jay picked the Jets, while Fab is a fan of the Colts.
