My wonderful hubby made me this skein winder. He was so proud of himself. lol I need to take better photo. This was with my cell. So I was able to wind some of the TONS of coned yarn I have. I have a lot of coned chenille. I have been experimenting with dying it this weekend. Photos soon. and I have also figured out that if I soak it and dry it, it fluffs up an looks much nicer. Hopefully some of this will be up on my etsy site this week.

I also finally got a photo of this Upcycled Jean Jacket. It will be on Etsy tomorrow, I forgot to see what size it is. I crocheted all the trim with Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece yarn.

I have another jacket done in pink that I need to photograph and also some yarn posting this week. I have also been putting books on Amazon.com and have already sold 5 books. So the spring cleaning is going good and so is my life, busy, but good!

Click the photo to see more

But my creative monster has been awoken! I have been cleaning out my home and shed of all the craft/art/junk stuff that has been stuffed away since we moved into this little bitty 640 sq ft home 5 years ago and I have found all kinds of stuff!

I used to do mosiac and handpainted some as well. I got those up tonite...now I am itching to paint.

I have also listed a bunch of books on Amazon and sold a bunch on line. I have been a pretty busy bee.

Now my life would be wonderful if I could figure out how to find some money to use to turn the studio into a yarn shop! All I need is money for yarn. Thought I had a loan, but they told me today that since I am a Realtor that they can't loan me money. I guess it is because I work off of commission. But they could look at the taxes and see that I have made more each year for the past 4 years...but whatever. So short of hitting the lottery or some long lost relative kicking the bucket, I am at a loss. Any ideas? I would love to hear therm.
Michael has been tutoring at KCC, our Jr College as well as student teaching all day and so he is gone like 12 hours a day...I can't wait till fall when he will just be a teacher! At least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..FINALLY

Well, off to read a bit before bed! Hope it was a good hump day for you too!
She said she was twirling around really really fast and didn't see the lady carrying the box and they ran into each other and the box scratched her head. I asked if she was bleeding or got stitches and she said, nope just a scratch but it really really hurt.

I told her that was because there is no meat on your head, just skin and your skull. Not like our arms that have bone, meat and then skin. Then we talked about her Valentines gifts for a minute.

Out of the blue she says "can I ask you something Gramma?" I said of course. So she asked me if Wolves eat people. I proceeded to tell her that I thought they eat other animals like rabbits or deer and that they are scared of people cause we are bigger and make lots of noise, she wanted to know if I was sure that they could NEVER eat people.....I asked why and her answer was.....because wolves eat meat and we are just!

While I was trying not to crack up and come up with an answer for that, she told me she had to talk to me tomorrow cause she was going to take a shower.

So I spoke to Bri for a few minutes and shared our conversation. She said Lilee (who wants to be a doctor) told her that she was okay because she didn't do any skull damage!

You gotta love how little kids minds work........

and now you know.......you are just MEAT!

I love the colors. The problem is I tend to buy 1 or 2 skeins at a time when they are on sale. Well, in the name of stash busting I made my Hubby a blanket.

I was inspired by this pattern. Victoria, the owner of my local yarn shop, Circle of Yarns, has a sample of this pattern in her store. I loved the shape so much that I bought the pattern to figure out how they made the squares. Well, the do them flat and then seam them up.......yuck! So as my usual, I set out to figure out how to do them in the round and have no sewing to do.

And Voila, this is what I came up with. A beautiful stash busting lap blanket for keeping warm under. I love the colors and the fact that is is round and was a lot of fun seeing the colors come out as I made the blocks. I wanted to hand make at least one thing for each person on my list. I did pretty good over all. The one that was the most fun was this granny square blanket for Lilee. I used this book for inspiration, a bit of imagination and Encore worsted weight yarn! Crochet usually hurts my arm. But I found these wonderful crochet hooks from Clover and they saved the day. As I got to the end, I decided I needed more length and did rows of smaller squares instead of another row of big squares. For the edging I did two rounds of double crochet shells. I am quite happy with it and would like to make another one for me. So it is on the loooong list of things I'd like to make.

Lilee's Birthday is right after Christmas. I usually ask her what she wants for her birthday because I always want to make it special and seperate from Christmas, I was alreay half way into her blanket at this point. Her answer was that she wanted a big girl blanket for her bed! Whew......

I barely got this done. I was working on it right up to the night before her birthday. I fibbed and told her that it was for her Opa and that I was working hard to finish it. When she went to bed on the night before I told here I would leave a present on her bed to open first thing in the morning. I finished the blanket and laid it atop her while she was sleeping, looking like an angel.

Well, she came and woke me in the morning, with a frown and announced that there was no present on her bed. I told her, are you sure? go look again, she looked at me like I was crazy and went to look and stomped back up the stairs and informed me......that there really wasn't a present on her bed. By this time I was having a hard time hold back my laughter and she was getting upset with me. So I asked her what blanket did she sleep with last night and asked her to go look and tell me..... a few seconds later I heard a squeal of delight and she came running upstairs with her big girl blanket, looked me in the eye and asked me how did I know that she liked pink?

I told her Grammas just know things like that.

Actually, I am quite good. I have a wonderful family and a great husband, and a house full of funny, annoying pets.

I read quite a few blogs and am always impressed with how open people seem to be and how generous they are with sharing their lives. Well, I seem to be such a lurker, but I am going to make an effort to share more.

I have been knitting my brains out and starting to design some patterns. So this seems to be a good place to share those!

These fingerless mitten are the very first pattern I designed all by my self. I need to get those written up so I can share the pattern! Lilee really likes them...as you can see from her "real" smile and not the fakey school picture smile she usually give me.

So I have a lot of catching up to do! I am off to sort photos and figure out what to share next!

That seems like such a straight forward simple sentence. Short and to the point. But it is really anything but....

After 14 years of heart problems and 4 years of hospice care, my Poppa is finally at peace. It has been the most frustrating, maddening, touching, sad and enlightening journey of my life. I truly thought that when it finally happened that I would be relived. I thought I was ready for him to go. He has been sick and unhappy for so long I really did think I would be okay and that would be that.

What a fool I am. All the frustration and anger and annoyance I had at him for being so stubborn and pig headed and uncooperative and demanding seems to have just disappeared and I can't believe I was so annoyed and impatient with him.

For the last few years he would go through phases when he demanded that I tell him when he was going to die.....the more Independence he lost the more he wanted to know. Not really knowing what to say I would always tell him that when he was ready, he would just go to sleep and wake up and be in heaven. And that is exactly what he did.

The last few days were tough, he couldn't get out of his recliner anymore with out assistance. But he didn't want anyone hanging out to be able to help him when he needed. He was positive he could do everything himself.

I think Saturday was the day he realized that it was time. He seemed to just let go. He slept for most of Saturday and all day Sunday. I was there a few times on Sunday and decided to check on him before I went to bed. After being there for just a few minutes he seems to be more awake and aware than he had been in the last two days. He actually sat up and wanted his back rubbed and for me to hold his hand. He kept saying that he loved me and thank you. In hindsight he was telling me goodbye. I just didn't realize it. He liked it when I sat next to him and held his hand......I wish I would have realized that he was telling me goodbye.

I know he is at peace now. And has no more pain and can walk and run and chase the ladies.... I know he is hanging out with Gus and Spider and Red and all the dogs he had over the years and I a sure that Grandpa Joe was there to greet him along with my Mom and many other family members....My mind knows this, but my heart misses him much more than I expected.

One of the saddest things is such a silly thing, but now there is no one to call me "Sissy". When my brother was little he couldn't say "Teresa" and he called me Sissy. Well Poppa never stopped calling me Sissy. I will miss that.

Since this post is really more for me, I wanted to post some of my favorite photos of Poppa. That's me in the stroller and Poppa and my Gramma at Knots Berry Farm. Notice the cool shades Poppa is wearing, it seems to be a theme with him.

Even though Poppa was 20 years older than my Mom, he never looked it. Here we are in our living room in Whittier and he had to be in his mid 40's and doesn't look to be much more than 30.

Here we are again and I am only about 2 in this photo, so he was 46! Lucky me! I got to inherit those youthful genes!

This is my favorite photo from our wedding. He looks like a member of the Rat Pack and he was 78! I think this pic shows him exactly how he was....confident, self assured, a take no crap from anyone kinda guy.

Same day, but a more serious photo. He was so happy to see me marry Michael. He really loved him and though he was a genius! He used to tell me how lucky I was to find Michael and that I should be grateful and be very good to him! and he was right!

This was a long and arduous journey that we have been on, Sometimes I hated it, sometimes I loved it and sometimes I wondered if I was being punished for something. But I realized today that instead of remembering all the bad stuff, that I should be grateful that we went on this journey.

I learned that the past matters, but if you let go of the bad stuff from the past, your life is much more peaceful. I learned that just because people don't treat you the way you want them to doesn't mean that they don't love you. They just do the best that they can.

I know that you loved me, but today people told me some of the nice things you said about me, things I wish you would have said to me, but maybe you couldn't. I also found the poem that you left in your wallet for me...... that meant more than you know.

But most of all I learned that you need to be good to those that you love and to mend those fences that are broken, even if you think it is no longer possible. Because all the petty shit that happened years and years ago doesn't matter, all that matters is the love.....and the now.... I am trying to reduce my stash.....ha ha ha. Or at least use some of it while I await a fresh influx of money to spend on more yarn! I have one whole large clear plastic container of cotton yarn! The color are soooo pretty! So I spent my 3 day weekend sorting my stash and knitting. I did get a couple of object finished, but these are the only pics I remembered to take this morning!

Dish Rag (cloth) No. 1 - note that there is not much contrast, yet it is still interesting and smushy! These are incredibly thick and smushy! I think they would be even better in the bathroom than in the Kitchen!
Dish Cloth, they are too good be be called rags! No. 2 - I started out with the pink and yellow and orange, but there just wasn't' enough contrast! So I switched to the blue yellow combo and I really like it. It is going to be tough to give these away a s gifts! I just want to hoard them all to my self! Then I got really brave! This cloth starts from the outside and you do bobbles! I was a bobble virgin, but no more! Once you get past the bobbles and and the dreaded yarn overs, and the first couple of rows, it is a breeze and it is really even prettier in person. In the book they have threaded ribbon through the yarn overs and they wrap up a bar of soap and tie it with the ribbon! What a great idea! but again....I have to actually be able to part with the wash cloths and the handmade soap!

I am getting ready to have my own Real Estate website. www.homesforsaleinklamathfalls.com, my TeresaMetts.com will also point there. So...I may be a little slow on keeping up my blog, but I am doing much better! I am only going days with out updating, not months!

I also hope to soon have stuff up on my Etsy site....now if I could just find a few more hours in the day....

First we have the Psychedelic crocheted Ripple Afgan. I found this when we were cleaning out the shed. It was only about 1/4 of the way done, and the ....gasp.... acrylic yarn is all gone, but if you turn it sideways, it will make a great Kid's blanket. (since Lilee can't read yet, I guess it is safe to mention that it will be a gift for her!)

The first photo may make you dizzy..... so I asked the hubby to take another one! He is such a good sport, even if he did lay my pretty pretty blanket on his yucky bug laden truck!

My Second finished object is this Log Cabin Blanket, inspired by the wonderful Mason Dixon Knitting book. Their Blog is one of my "everyday" reads!

The difference in color in the two photos is amazing! The true color are somewhere inbetween, but leaning more toward the second photo!

I guess I am not selling enough Real Estate to satisfy Michael, because he has so kindly placed one of my sign riders in the second photo! So, if you need to buy a house, or land, now you know where to find me!

It wasn't quite wide enough and I didn't want to do more squares, so I did 3 rows of garter stitch on each side of the squares and then 5 rows of various colors from the blanket and the 3 more row of black. Then I just picked random colors and did mitered squares in the corners! Seeing it laid out like this, makes it look much prettier than I thought it was this morning!

I also have some dishcloths and other various small items almost done and I will share these soon!

I was planning to update this blog every day and I am failing miserably. I do have a pretty good excuse. My Dad is under hopsice care, he has been for 3 years and they are great! But it is time for him to have more help, and we are in the process of moving him into an adult fostercare. It is a very nice one, very homey and he will have his own room and a livingroom with a big screen tv and they have a big deck for him to sit in the sun on. I think he will be very happy there. He will be close to us and I will not have to worry about him being alone so much.

The process is taking a lot of time and stress, so that is my excuse for not updating my etsy page and my blog. But I am knitting and will take some photos this week to share!

So my good inentions are still intact and are here to stay.

She has been gone for 9 years and it is hard to believe that it has been that long. She was a great Mom who worked hard to take care of us and loved us a lot. We had finally come to that point in our relationship where we were "friends" and not just Mother and Daughter. She was a great grandma to my son Josh and my niece Tori. It makes me sad that she never got to meet her Great Granddaughter Lilee. But I know that she is watching over us and still taking care of us....so Happy Birthday Mom! I love you and miss you so!

I am still working on photos and sorting for ravelry and for Etsy. I hope to have some of my handspun and rovings up there soon!

I guess I didn't realize just how fast time passes! This is like a new start. I have been reading several blogs in the last several months and I am amazed at how they manage to post every single day! I keep thinking I wish I was that talented and disciplined.

Then I checked my email this morning and got just the inspiration that I need. It was an invite to Ravelry!!! So, I am in the process of getting set up there and I am going to attempt to be a better blogger and keep this updated.

So in that spirit, here is a more recent photo of my most loved knitting model......

We got to spend a week together this summer and we went camping at Howard Prairie. We had a blast! This is my favorite photo of Silly Lilee wearing a sweater I knit her last Christmas.

I have the most fun knitting for her. I think she must like it too, because everytime she sees me knitting, she asks what I am knitting for her! and she is usally right!

I recently found my oldest UFO, a ripple blanket in rainbow colors and it is big enough as it is for a 4 year old, so that will be 1 christmas present down!

I do have several things in the works and I will share photos soon!

My user name on Raverly is Lileesgram! Oh well, a busy bee is a happy bee.

This was a good Halloween. I got to spend a week with Brianna and Lilee and we had a really good time.

Here is the worlds cutest fairy! Wearing Fairy Tights and a fairy shirt under her costume because it was sooo cold. She has special glittery fairy dust on her too, but you can't see it in the pictures.

Here is the gang - Bri, Lilee, Tracy & Silas! Aren't they cute! I should have got Drew in there too, but I don't know where he was!

This wins the best costume prize from me.......Sponge Bob was very nice and even posed for the picture for me. Who says celebrities aren't nice?

The bad witch is on the left and the good witch is on the right! Lilee said I needed to be a witch for Halloween....and her Mom a good witch.....lol..... She said were were too big to be fairies! Did you know that fairies don't' have gramma's and moms? That's is according to Lilee....but it was fun when we went out to lunch and I pointed out to Miss Lilee that the waitress was grown up and she was a fairy.....It was hilarious! For the first time in her life Lilee was speechless....

The future Top Model!

I love to take photos of Lilee when I visit...She changes so much all of the time! Well, lately she says she has to "pose". So here is an example.....She says you have to turn and look back and "flip" your hair! All of these poses were her own, without any direction....And she has the model walk down too!

I am hard at work on Christmas presents that involve knitting that I will be sharing shortly. It would help if it didn't get dark before I get home from work! As soon as I can I will share my last package from my wonderful SP8 pal. She sent everything I need to knit a lace shawl and some wonderful candles with votives! She is the best pal ever!

I am going to miss summer. So here a couple of my favs to share.

Over the summer Lilee came to visit us for a week and when I took her home we were looking out the window at the cows and she informed me that she didn't want to see cows, she wanted Horses! So when we passed by the pony rides, we stopped! She rode 3 times, and would have rode all day if i had more money.

The funniest part was that she really didnt' want to ride the ponies, she wanted to ride the big horse you can see in the background! Everytime they walked by she pointed to the big horse and told the lady she wanted to ride "THAT HORSE!"
She so charmed the lady that she went to the barn and got out the pink pony's (he's a boy) unicorn horn he wears to birthday parties so that we could take a picture!

Whenever we get to go to the coast and visit, Lilee and her Opa always take a walk on the beach. I get to come along, but I get to stay on the landing and take pictures! This time Lilee told me to stay there, so I wasn't even invited to go! This has become a tradition with them and I look forward to many years of taking their photos.

I have also signed up for SP9 and for the Knitters Tea Swap! So I will be sharing on a more regular basis!

I hope everyone had a great summer!

I got my box today from my Candy Swapper Pal - Libby! She is great, her theme was Spring time in Paris! Only my favorite place in the world! She sent yummy truffles and chocolate with hazelnuts! Yum! I havent' tried the one with strawberries & black pepper, but it sounds interesting. This swap is really fun and I want to give lots of Kudos to Libby!
