Last week of school, guys... almost there! Work has not been great lately, so I'm looking forward to school ending.

What I've been watching:

I started another Supernatural rewatch yesterday 😆 Season 1, baby. Classic. Lol.

What I've been playing:

It was a good week of playing Leon Must Die Forever, a Resident Evil 9 mini game. I was stuck on level 2 for TWO weeks, but I finally passed it! Then I immediately passed level 3 right after, which was insane! Lol. Level 4 is really hard. I fear I'm gonna be stuck on this one for another couple of weeks 😅 But I'm having fun!

As for my Tomodachi island, things are as chaotic as ever. Lol. Jace (Shadowhunters) and Sam (Supernatural) became friends after talking about going to hell, a thing they have both done. Lol. And Billy and Rebecca, both from Resident Evil 0, got married!

I had Carlos call his wife Jill (both from Resident Evil 3), his PB & Jill Sandwich because of the Jill sandwich meme 😆 And then Bella and Robin (both from The Sims) are having a very realistic conversation 😆

Kyle Kyleson (The Sims) talking about drinking a liquor store 😭 Listen, this is a Supernatural reference, something Castiel, an angel, says. But it sounds absolutely wild when others talk about it 😂

And here we have Jace (Shadowhunters) and Natasha aka Black Widow (Marvel), NOT becoming friends because I guess Natasha is too badass? Idk, but it sounds accurate 😂

Billy (RE0) is also into being a badass (this is accurate 😆) And apparently Corky (Fear Street Cheerleaders) has been talking nonstop about demon blood?

The unhinged things they say 😂 It is my fault because I'm the one who inputs this stuff. But in my defense, demon blood is another Supernatural reference 😅 And here is Gin (Elemental Assassin) talking about Billy (RE0) being a badass like her 😂

Jace (Shadowhunters) here being a menace 😆 Jace, I highly discourage you from telling Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) of all people that you love to hate him 😭 And then Angelica Fear (Fear Street) getting a crush on Michael Myers (Halloween) was NOT on my bingo card 😂 I love this game. Lol.

Omg and here I am talking about getting into drinking a liquor store, and Groot (Marvel) being like, girl, NO 🤣

Groot (Marvel) and Benny (Halloweentown) talking about how attractive Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil) is 😆 I'm telling you, my island is nothing but a Leon fan club, and I love it 😆 And then Sam and Dean (both from Supernatural) working out... Dean, you're doing it wrong 🤣

Omg. So one of my brothers keeps telling me that my island is deranged 😅 And you know what? He is not terribly wrong 😆 BUT then he suggested I have them talk about The Nail from the last episode of Supernatural, so I did. And now they sound insane 😂

Ooh, and then I became friends with Edward Cullen (Twilight) after talking about sparkles and shiny things 😆 And then I gave him a disco ball, for obvious reasons 🤣 He didn't like it though. Lol.

Sherry (Resident Evil 2 & 9) and Grace (Resident Evil 9) became friends after talking about zombie apocalypse trauma, which is super accurate. Lol. And then I became friends with Salem (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) after talking about taking over the world 😆

So Jace (Shadowhunters) and Gin (Elemental Assassin) are currently dating, which is super weird for me lol, but here is apparently how their relationship came to be, and I can't say that it was super healthy (but I always approve of admiring Leon (RE) 😆):

And here is more gushing over Leon (RE). Fair. Lol. And Edward (Twilight) got a statue, according to the news 😂

More gushing over Leon 😆 and some Chris Evans talk! Lol.

Also, I expanded my island fully, which is exciting! And I made Gin (Elemental Assassin) her Spider rune necklace!

Bella is trying to make Kyle (both from The Sims) feel better by talking about ooze, which is a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers thing. Lol. And Angelica (Fear Street) and Salem (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) becoming friends over talking about the Fear family curse 😂

I gave Dean (Supernatural) one of his iconic lines. And then Carlos (RE3) being weird, but thanks, I guess? 😂

I also made Angelica Fear (Fear Street) her Fear family amulet, and some of the characters were being really creepy about it... accurate 🤣 And last Kyle (The Sims) telling Leon (RE) to HIS FACE how much he's into admiring Leon 😭🤣

I am obviously still really enjoying this game. It's just so weird and fun and I love adding a variety of different characters!

I have been waiting for this since the Spring Reading Program ended! I was so chocked that I actually finished it, but this is the year where I said that I was actually going to try completing reading challenges. We'll see how this one goes, though. Even though I join every year, I don't think I've ever completed one of my library's summer reading challenges 😅 Lol.

There are only 16 prompts and I feel like they're all going to be mostly doable. And I have until August to complete them!

I even got a prize just for entering! How cool! They are seeds to plant! They are really going for that whole plants/gardening thing this year. Lol.

The last volume ended in a bit of a cliffhanger, so we finally got a resolution to that situation at the beginning of this volume. And all I have to say is that Hanna’s father is insane. Even after everything Hanna did/tried to do, I felt SO bad for her! 😩

One thing I’m loving about this series is how funny it is in general, but the thing that absolutely took me out in this volume is that Rita’s nickname is The Witch. It makes sense, but it also doesn’t because she’s WAY too unserious for that name! And I love her for it! 😂

And this will be shocking coming from me, someone who absolutely hates love triangles, but I loved the weird sort of love triangle that is starting to form here. It is SO funny! 😂

This was really fun though! It was funny, had good action, and I just love how aloof the kids are to all the danger around them.

In this volume, we finally find out how Sakamoto and Shin did on the exam and whether they got into assassin school. And let me just say, the results were hilarious.

We also see what's up with some of the other students we met during the entrance exams, and let me just say, things are definitely going to get interesting...

This was another fun, action-packed volume. I really enjoyed this trying-to-get-into-assassin-school arc, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Things did not go well this month...

Yeah, I know 🫣 I was sick for most of the month, and now I feel like I'm in a slump 😩 It's been rough over here.

I read two books off my tbr, and read 4 books overall. And I only completed 5 prompts across those 4 books 😅

I honestly don't know what to expect this month. My plan is to read all of these books, but I honestly don't know what my mood is doing. I think it wants nonfiction, so this list really doesn't work, except for the one book 😂 I don't know, man. We'll see what happens. I'm not too worried, though, as long as I read one book each week. Lol.

May was not a good reading month for me. I was sick basically the entire month, and with the vertigo, I just did not feel like reading. I'm better now, but I still don't feel like reading, and I fear that I have fallen into a reading slump 😩 I ended up reading 4 books, which was about 971 pages. That's 1200 pages LESS than the previous month. Yeah, it was that bad 😬 But hey, at least I haven't failed my 52 books in 52 weeks challenge 😆

Really enjoyed Sakamoto Days, and I'm looking forward where the story goes from here! I also enjoyed the Joe Trohman memoir, but then I'm a huge Fall Out Boy Fan 😆 Who Ate the First Oyster? was a really fun nonfiction book. But The Accident Season ended up being quite boring. What a way to end the month 😅

Easily this one. I really enjoy this series!

What I've been doing:

I'm finally starting to feel better! My cough is a lot more sparse now, but goddamn has it been a long time. This always happens when I get a cough, and I hate it every time. But this week was a lot better, thankfully! In other news, TWO more weeks of school left! So excited!

What I've been watching:

I rewatched Black Widow this week and I just really like this movie.

I also watched the new The Mummy movie and it was truly horrifying! I really liked it!

What I've been playing:

And now for some shenanigans on my Tomodachi island lol. Lots of gossiping and Sam Winchester (Supernatural) and Lacey (my Super Sim) becoming friends over talking about demon blood 😂

Jason and I (Friday the 13th) becoming friends over talking about Jason X 🤣 And then this week I made Tommy Oliver (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) because I saw this suit that reminded me of the Power Rangers, and then I gave him a dinosaur as a pet 😆

Oh my god, and then the best thing happened... There is a literal Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil) fan club on my island! 🤣

I love this game so much 😂

One day, I had a trench coat in my shop, so I obviously needed to make Castiel (Supernatural) lol. He and Dean (Supernatural) became friends over demon hunting. Lol.

And then Dean (Supernatural) and Gin (Elemental Assassin) became friends over eating pie 😂 Dean LOVES pie, and Gin owns a restaurant and just loves to cook, so this was a perfect topic for them. Lol. Oh, and then Dean and Castiel hanging out was so cute! Lol.

And then Robin Banks (burglar in The Sims) and I became friends over terrorizing Sims 🤣 And then the funniest thing happened on my island: I had not one, but THREE Miis vying for my attention! Dean Winchester (Supernatural), Lacey (my Super Sim), and Carlos (Resident Evil).

And you know what my Mii did? She rejected them all 🤣 I love her! She is such a menace. Lol.

But moving on, here is Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) talking about how good he is at NOT drowning in lakes, which is HILARIOUS coming from him 😆 And then Billy and Rebecca, who are both from Resident Evil 0, started dating! This made me so happy! I totally shipped them in the game!

Sam Winchester and Castiel became friends over talking about drinking a liquor store, which is a Supernatural reference where Castiel one time found a liquor store and drank it 😆 And then my Mii being smart by never trying to live on Fear Street 🤣

Omg and then Jill and Carlos, who are both from Resident Evil 3 (I also shipped them lol), started dating, then got MARRIED all in the same day!! 🤣

And here is me and Billy (Resident Evil) becoming friends over obliterating zombies 😆 And last, the Leon S. Kennedy fan club met up again!!

Tbh, I don't even know how this club started, but I wholeheartedly approve of it 🤣

They are so weird and I love them all!

This game, in general, is weird and chaotic and I am just having the best time playing it!

I have also been continuing to play the Resident Evil 9 mini game, but I have not been able to pass level 2 yet! It's SO hard and so RNG-based, but I am still having fun playing it.

Library Springtime Reading Challenge Update

I don't know why I thought I failed this challenge, but for the last week I've been sad about it... I DIDN'T, though! Omg! All I needed to do was look at the freaking paper for the dates! 😂 For some reason I thought the challenge ended on the 21st, but it doesn't! It ends today, on the 30th, and I finished this challenge like a week ago! Anyway, I'm gonna go to the library today and see if they still have prizes available. I literally could've gone last weekend to check 🤦‍♀️ In my defense, I've been sick for like a month, so my brain has been struggling these days 😂

Romance

I didn't know if I was actually going to manage to complete this challenge, but you know I tried when I read a book for the ROMANCE prompt, of all things 😆 It's one of the only reasons I read it, but I'm glad I did because I enjoyed it!

Autobiography

Tbh, I don't know what the difference between an autobiography and a memoir is, but I counted this memoir for this prompt 🤷‍♀️ Lol.

Mystery

Easy. I was in my mystery thiller/horror era a couple months back. Lol.

Sci-fi/Fantasy

And I counted this cozy fantasy for this prompt.

Non-fiction

I even read a nonfiction! I do love me a science-y, fun nonfiction book, and this was a good one! Not super science-y, more history... Anthropology, if you will. Lol. But it was still good!

Horror

And last is this anthology of short horror stories inspired by the cards in the Mexican board game, Loteria!

I'll update this post with a picture of my prize... if I get one 😆 But this was so much fun! I'm so glad my library did a Spring challenge! Now I can't wait for their Summer one to start!

There are 54 cards in the Lotería game, and for this short story collection you will find one unique story per card based on a Latin American myth, folklore, superstition, or belief—with a slant towards the paranormal and horrific. In this deck of cards you will find murderers, ghosts, goblins and ghouls. This collection features creatures and monsters, vampires, werewolves and more.

Many of these legends existed long before their European counterparts—passed throughout the Americas via word of mouth, collected just like the tales the Brothers Grimm. These are indeed fairy tales—Latin American fairy tales—but with a horrifying slant.

My rating: ★★★★☆

I enjoyed this book so much!! I love playing Lotería and I love horror, so this book was made for me! 😆 And for those unfamiliar with Lotería:

The traditional way to play Lotería is that each player will select a game board that includes a random selection of sixteen images. The caller then takes the deck of fifty-four Lotería cards, shuffles, and then announces the card to the players. Sometimes the caller will just state the name of the card-"El Bandolin" for example-or sometimes the caller will recite the corresponding verse before announcing the card "Tocando su bandolón, está el mariachi Simón." The players with the corresponding image on their game board will then place a game chip over that picture. The caller will then call the next card and they will continue on this way, and the first player to fill their game board will shout "Lotería!" The concept is similar to that of Bingo.

The Lotería cards were thought to have originated in Italy, taken to Spain, and then to Mexico in the 1700s. The word Lotería translates to "lottery." The images of the cards range from people to things, but each image is believed to hint to various aspects of Mexican history and culture.

Or as I like to call it: Mexican Bingo 😆

I really enjoyed all of the short stories! Some of them were supernatural horror, which we know I love. Lol. And some of them were based in IRL stuff, and those are the stories I found truly terrifying. Like La Sirena aka The Mermaid story? Horrifying! I still think about that one from time to time because of how tragic and abhorrent it was 😩 It wasn’t super graphic, but it was just such an incredibly awful situation for a girl who only wanted a freaking Quinceañera 😭

But going back to the supernatural stuff, it usually always had to do with mythology, which is another thing I love, so I really enjoyed those stories and getting to know these different mythoogies I’m unfamiliar with. And it wasn’t just mythology from Central America, but also South America. And we even got a banshee mention AND a story set in the Aokigahara forest in Japan. It always tied back to Latin America somehow, and I loved it! It makes me want to read more about all these different mythologies. I’m gonna have to do some investigating and find some books on the subject. Lol.

On top of the short stories inspired by the 54 cards, we also got a novella at the end. It was kinda repetitive and dragged for a bit, but I did like it overall. But I’m not gonna lie, I much preferred the shorter stories! And I did enjoy the book overall! It just incorporates so many things that I love, and it did it SO well!

My rating: ★★★★☆

In this volume, we continue to follow the characters as they try to complete the entrance exam to get into assassin school. Specifically, stage three, the final stage, of the exam.

One thing I liked about this volume was that Sakamoto and Shin were separated and then had to work with their own respective team members to overcome obstacles in the test. I really enjoyed seeing how they had to adjust and learn to work together with these other students, especially considering that it was a bit rough there at first. Lol.

This was another fun and action-packed volume.

I love this series so much! I think that goes without saying at this point, but I’m gonna say it anyway 😆

One of my favorite things about this series is the characters and their interactions. In this volume, we got Yor feeling like she’s a failure as a wife, which made me so sad for her 😢 But I freaking love Loid and what a green flag he is, telling Yor he just wants her to be who she is 🖤

And on the Anya front, we’re actually making progress there, too! And one thing I find really heartwarming, because of her mind-reading abilities, she knows about Loid being a spy and his plans for eventual peace, right? Well, she willingly goes along with his plan for her to get close to Damien and his family because she wants to help save the world 😭 I love her!

And I love this series in general. It just makes me really happy. It’s so heartwarming and cute, really funny, and it has great action too! It’s great!

What I read:

I'm not gonna lie, I'm struggling over here. Being sick really threw a wrench in my plans. Reading is just too much for my tired brain right now. However, I also don't want to fail my 52 books in 52 weeks challenge sooo 😆 That being said, I really enjoyed this book! It was very interesting and really easy to read! I love a nonfiction book! I may have to pick up some more in the near future 👀 Idk, this for some reason seems easier to read right now than fiction. I don't know why. I'm in a weird mood these days. Lol.

What I've been doing:

I've been sick for like a month at this point and I am honestly over it 🙃 Still coughing, still not sleeping, but at least I only had vertigo last Sunday and Monday. But goddamn, this is getting old 😪 Surprisingly, work hasn't been that awful, but I think it's because it's almost the end of the school year. Lol. So I at least have that to look forward to. Lol.

What I've been watching:

Last Sunday I went to go see the new Mortal Kombat movie with my brothers and it was SO fun! Once my hyperfixation with Resident Evil dies down a bit, I kinda want to go into these video games next because I find the lore so interesting!

What I've been playing:

I finally started Resident Evil 3 and it's fun so far! And stressful. Nemesis is even scarier than Mr. X in RE2, somehow. Lol.

I also finally passed the new mode in RE9!! It was SO hard! And apparently there are 5 ranks?! I don't know if I can complete them all since I struggled so much with the first one 😂 BUT I unlocked this Leon Wolf Mode for doing Rank 1 and I cannot get over how funny it is 🤣

I'm gonna play some more RE3 today and I might try Rank 2 in the Leon Must Die Forever mode, but no promises I actually pass it 😂

As for my Tomodachi Life island... things have gotten weird... er. Lol.

According to the news, Claire Redfield (Resident Evil) was the founder of some band? And then she and Sam Winchester (Supernatural) fell in love, which isn't the weirdest relationship on my island. Just wait. Lol.

Reva Dalby (Fear Street) is here talking about not drowning in lakes with Jason Voorhees... which he has infamously failed at 😂 And then Jace Herondale (Shadowhunters) and Gin Blanco (Elemental Assassin) fell in love. So freaking weird. Lol.

This week I made Billy Coen and Rebecca Chambers from the Resident Evil 0 game, and Billy immediately started crushing on Rebecca. That one is acceptable to me 😆 And literally everyone on the island is a fan of Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil) 😂

Okay, and here is where I nearly lost my mind. Jason (Friday the 13th) had a crush on Leon (Resident Evil), which I thought was hilarious, but then Jason wanted to confess his love to Leon and I let it happen because I didn't think anything would come of it BUT LEON RECIPROCATED 🤣 I can't with this game 😂 My super Sim Lacey was devastated by this because she too had a crush on Leon. Lol.

Anyway, I'm still having fun with this weird game. Lol. I'll leave you with a shot of the very scary Jason Voorhees knitting, and a couple of my characters playing with toy swords. Lol.

The Sinister-Winterbottoms had been to the strangest water park ever, where the cabanas were mausoleums, the slides were gargoyle tongues, and the wave pool was a cave that triggered existential terror. They had visited the Sanguine Spa, with its tunnels and caves and downright vampiric residents—both the bats and, possibly, Lucy herself—and the woods that felt like they would eat the children if they could. They had braced themselves for whatever was next, certain that they were ready for any menacing weirdness they would face.
But nothing had prepared them for what they were looking at right now.

The kids' parents are still missing, and they've tracked the very suspicious Edgaren't to a camp in hopes of finding the families' books and hopefully figuring out how to find their parents.

This camp they go to, Camp Creepy, was SO creepy! I mean, it was super normal—everyone was happy all the time, and they talked in exclamation points! And that is exactly what made it creepy. Lol. Their enthusiasm was exhausting... and horrifying. Lol. It was honestly very Stepford Wives.

But I liked it! Lol. The overall mystery of the disappearing parents is very intriguing. Plus, the setting of each book has been so fun! And I really love how the families are named after big literary horror icons. Kiersten White knows how to speak my language. Lol.

One thing I liked about this book in particular is the main message it sends kids: it's okay to be yourself, no matter what weird hobby you may have... like lassoing 😂 I just loved how supportive the siblings are of one another despite everything that's happened. Loving each other just the way they are and just validating their feelings... It was so good!

This was just a lot of fun! I really love Kiersten White's writing, especially in her middle grade novels. I love the mix of humor with creepiness, and the added mystery of the missing parents is so intriguing. I am itching to find out what happened to them!

I enjoyed this memoir! I love Fall Out Boy, so I really enjoyed the deep dive into Joe's life growing up and how the band impacted his life. Very interesting read.

Sunday Post #504: I'm Tired of This, Grandpa

What I've been doing:

I cannot stand this cough anymore 😭 And to make things worse, the vertigo returned too 😭😭 It's gone now, but goddamn has it been a horrible two weeks.

What I've been playing:

In other, better news, I finished replaying Resident Evil 2!

I didn't do as well on this run as I did in my Claire run. I feel like this one was HARD! But it was so fun! I love this game so much! And here are my scores for the two times I've played:

Last week I mentioned that there was a new mode in Resident Evil 9. Well, I tried it out this weekend and it's SO hard 😭 It's been fun though. One of these days I will complete it, but that day is not today 😂

So instead I decided to just replay RE9, like I've been wanting to 😆 I'm doing two challenges as I play to get some points so I can unlock infinite ammo: using no healing, and also not using Grace's blood collector. The first is easy because I'm playing on the easiest mode, which gives you some health back when you get injured. But it's TOO easy? Lol. Not using the blood collector has been a little harder because that's what's used to craft bullets, and I was running around with zero ammo at one point 😂 But I'm having fun! Once I get infinite ammo, I think I'm going to play the game on a slightly harder mode.

As for my Tomodachi island, my Mii and her friends went on vacation to Latin America! Lol. I also gave Sam Winchester (Supernatural) the catchphrase 'So get this' 😆

Claire Redfield (Resident Evil) and Dean Winchester (Supernatural) became friends over killing zombies 😂 And Claire was bragging that she's the best at it, which honestly, yeah, she is. Lol.

And then she got a crush on Dean 🤦‍♀️😂 And my Mii decided that she wanted to move in with Gin (Elemental Assassin)! I called our house The Pork Pit because in the books Gin owns a BBQ restaurant with that name. Lol.

Reva Dalby (Fear Street) is in love with Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th), but Jason is in love with LEON (Resident Evil) 🤣 This game is so weird and I love it! 😂

And here is a weird rave dream one of these weirdos was having at some point. Lol.

This game is so fun and weird! I'm gonna need to give you guys a full list of all the Miis on my island 'casue it's a weird one. Lol. Anyway, I'm gonna go play RE9 now 😆

In this volume, Sakamoto and friends are trying to get into the JCC assassin school to get some information... as students. Lol. I thought this was really funny. And I just really enjoyed this volume in general.

The entrance exam was on the flight to the school, and things got crazy real quick. Lol. It was so fun! I also enjoyed meeting the new characters and seeing them work together with Sakamoto and Shin. There were a lot of really good action sequences and overall craziness. Lol. Plus, the fact that this all took place on a plane was SO cool! It was just so much fun!

Another solid entry in the series.

As I’ve explored genres outside my comfort zone, one subgenre of nonfiction that I discovered that I really enjoy is science. And, specifically, in this case, medical science. When I picked up this book, I was hoping it would sort of be in the same vein as Quackery, and it kind of was! I really enjoyed it!

One thing I really enjoyed about this book was the voice. I feel like that can make or break a nonfiction book for me. I really liked the interjections from the authors as they explained things or just quipped. That was really funny. Plus, I really appreciated the warnings and the authors giving you a chance to jump ship if things got too icky. Lol.

When I read a book, I usually jot down my thoughts or point out things that were interesting to me, but with this book, I just had fun reading this, vibing with it, that I didn't even stop to take notes. Lol.

It talked about a lot of interesting stuff. Like back in the 1700s when certain crimes were "punishable by dissection," thus allowing physicians to dissect bodies of murderers after they were executed for, you know, science! Lol. This was called the Murder Act, and it was WILD! Or that one guy who made an anti-seasickness ship... yeah, it's as dumb as it sounds... and it, of course, did not work. Lol. And then there was the DIY cadavers, where people literally resorted to MURDER to get cadavers to sell to medical schools. Wild times indeed 😅

One thing I really appreciated about this book was how all of these things were told almost in a linear fashion. You know, starting with the ancient Egyptians and Greeks and moving along the timeline as treatments changed. It was just so interesting and horrific all at once, the way people were treated back in the day. One of the authors, the non-doctor Justin McElroy lol, always voiced my thoughts out loud, like how dumb doctors were back then. Lol. Though I suppose, in their defense, they didn't have the scientific or technological advancements we do today, so things seemed (and were!) a lot more barbaric then.

At the end of each section, there was a "Do We Still Do This Today" segment. I liked this because a lot of them were a resounding "hell no!" while some of them were "Yes, BUT!" Intriguing, right?

I flew through this book, though! There are some nonfiction books that can be hard to read, but this one wasn't! think I finished it in just over a day. It was a fun read with a lot of interesting information and cool illustrations. I enjoyed it!

I really liked this manga! I loved the premise and the execution was great!

I loved all the characters! Kafka is kinda ridiculous and I love him for it! 😆 Mina, a captain of the Defence Force and childhood friend of Kafka, looks like such a badass! I’m excited to learn more about her and their past.

I also really liked the action and the art style in general. Plus, it was really funny! I loved the banter between the characters! Can’t wait to read more in this series!

Things didn't go according to plan this week because I was sick in bed for most of it. Lol. But once I started feeling better, I read this one so I wouldn't fail my 52 books in 52 weeks reading challenge 😆 Anyway, I liked it! I feel like things are about to get a whole lot more interesting! And we might be nearing the end? Idk. You honestly never know with manga. Lol.

Sunday Post #503: That was Rough...

What I've been doing:

It's been rough guys, it's been ROUGH. My cough is still horrendous, but the thing that did me in this past week was getting vertigo. It was wild. I only went to work one day and I spent the rest of the week in bed, dizzy and anxious, because, hey, anxiety decided to show up too 🙃 I also wasn't sleeping well at all, or eating well... I have been a MESS. Anyway, last night I finally got more than 3 hours of sleep and it was the BEST! I miss sleep 😔 On Friday, my vertigo finally started to subside, so things are getting better. But I was fighting for my life there for a second 😅 (I'm being dramatic obviously 😆) It's a good thing I had a bunch of posts prescheduled though. Lol.

What I've been playing:

On Friday, when I started feeling better, I started playing a new game:

This game is so unhinged and I love it!!!

It's kinda like The Sims where you can make your own characters and set them free so they can interact with each other, and it is just crazy! One of the first Mii's I made was obviously Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 😆 I also made my Super Sim Lacey, and Leon almost immediately fell in love with her! It was so cute!

I also made myself and Dean Winchester from Supernatural, and here he is talking to me about codependent relationships, which is hilarious because I think he and his brother have a codependent relationship, so he would definitely know something about the topic 😂 I also made Gin Blanco from the Elemental Assassin series, and I was apprently letting her know all about Elpis, which is from Resident Evil 9. And you know what, that's accurate. I have made that game my entire personality 😂

I also sent Leon on vacation and he took Lacey with him! SO cute! And this game is sometimes too real, with its codependent relationships and having me watch scary movies alone 😂

Oh! I also made Grace, also from Resident Evil 9, and here she is meeting Leon. And I of course had to make Sam Winchester as well, and he fell in love with Gin 😂 I love this game so much. It's SO weird! 🤣

And I of course had to make my favorite Shadowhunter, Jace, who was obsessively talking about sharp objects. Lol. And while Leon and Lacey aren't together (yet lol), they did move in together and I called their house the Zombie Annhilators 😆 Lacey has never killed a zombie, but that's only because there are no zombies in The Sims 4. Lol.

My Mii gets me, because I too would make a museum for me Leon cardboard cutouts that I don't have 😆 (she actually prompted me to type in what my most prized possession was, and me being unhinged said it was a Leon cardboard cutout 🤣) And then I decided to make Jason Voorhees because I saw this hockey mask in the shop and it was the best decision ever 🤣 talking to him about running from monsters lol.

This took me out because Gin and Jace became fast friends over talking about sharp objects. Which makes sense. Jace is a Shadowhunter, and Gin is an assassin who's preferred weapon is knives. Lol. Man, this game. Lol.

Oh! I named my island Shadyside, like the town in Fear Street, so I obviously had to make some Fear Street characters. I've only made one so far: Reva Dalby from Silent Night, and she became friends with Leon from talking about cursed towns 😂 Shadyside and Racoon City are pretty cursed if you ask me. Lol. And then Jason had a nightmare that the others were wearing his face 😂

One thing I love about this game, you may have noticed that I have typed in a lot of their conversation topics. It makes things so unhinged and I love it! One of Leon's iconic lines in Resident Evil 4 was when the zombies who were attacking him suddenly up and leave, and he says:

God, I love him so much 😂 So I of course had to give him this line in game. Lol. I couldn't quite fit it in like I wanted because there's a character limit, but I am SO glad I gave it to him! But moving on! Grace and Sam became friends over talking about how they saved people and hunted things 😆

And then Jace and Dean became friends over talking about the supernatural, which is hilarious because I honestly don't think they would get along irl 😂 Dean would probably find Jace insufferable. Lol.

And last, here are Grace and Sam talking about some things they have in common 😂 I am having so much fun playing this game! Now that I'm starting to feel better, I definitely want to get back to finishing my replay of Resident Evil 2, which I am almost done with. And there was also a new mode dropped for Resident Evil 9 with Leon that I HAVE to play! So many games to play, so little time. Lol.

Review: Night Terror (Bleak Haven #2) by Vincent Ralph

Despite all the real-life killers that Bleak Haven has endured, what scares some folks most is the Burning Book. They believe bad things are hidden within its pages the kind of things that even fire cannot kill.

This book was so freaking fun! I mentioned it in my review of the last book, and I’ll mention it again, I am LOVING the modern-day Fear Street vibes! Ah! It’s SO good! Though maybe I shouldn’t say ‘modern’ for this one, as it takes place in 1987. Lol. But still! My point stands! Lol.

Two of my favorite things in Fear Street books are when we get Fear family lore and/or a supernatural twist! And we got both of those things in this book! Not the Fear Family lore 😅 But we did get Bleak Haven lore! It talked about the town's founder and a supposedly cursed book known as the Burning Book. Perhaps the reason why the town feels cursed and so many tragedies happen? 👀 I loved this SO much! And the supernatural twist? Even better! You guys know I love anything supernatural (even the TV show 😆)!

Another thing I loved was that it took place mostly in a day. And that it took place mostly in one location! I love these sort of stories where characters are stuck in a place! And to make things even better: the place in this book was bookstore 🤩

As for the characters we follow, it’s actually a bunch of teens who are part of the generation when the Lullaby Man was hitting cradles 😬

We may have outlived the Lullaby Man, but that doesn't mean we avoided every monster.

And now they’re dealing with another monster. Oof. I loved this though! It was so good! We got a bunch of Bleak Haven lore and I freaking love it! And while it’s set in ‘87, to me it didn’t really feel like it took place in the 80s, but I honestly didn’t really care because I enjoyed so many other aspects of the book. Lol. This is quickly becoming a favorite horror series of mine! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series and see what other horrors Bleak Haven has to offer.

I've always been a mood reader, but in recent years, my mood has been asking for more and more super niche subgenres. One such subgenre is aquatic horror, aka horror that takes place in/around water. Lol. I don't know what it is, but sometimes I'm just in that very specific mood. Lol. Thus, this book. I had seen this book around quite a bit when I was looking for books to read in this subgenre. And it ended up being just... fine.

I don't know what it was... it just kind of felt like it moved very slowly. It was heavy on the psychological horror with some pretty crazy body horror thrown in, but I didn't find the book scary, per se. But I consume a lot of horror media, so take this with a grain of salt. Lol. It did have some pretty horrific imagery, so I'll give it that. Lol.

I just wasn't super impressed with this book, but it also wasn't terrible. I liked the premise, and we do get some concrete answers by the end, which I appreciated. And I actually decided to listen to the audiobook as well, and I'm glad I did because I really liked the narrator.
