Philippa and Nigel, the wedding

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Mon, 14 Dec 2015 15:41:00 +0000

Philippa and Nigel had a beautiful winter wedding at Shustoke Barn, outside Birmingham. They designed so much of the day themselves, from the stationary to the incredible metalwork hanging from the rafters and it was a wonderful, unique celebration of their love.

This was our last wedding, both of the year and for the foreseeable future and it was a beautiful one to end our eight years of full time wedding photography on.

This summer we had the pleasure of photographing Yvonne and Brad's wedding ceremony at Camden Town Hall and celebrations at Coq d'Argant, a venue with the most spectacular views. It was a beautiful day and very 'London'.

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Mon, 19 Jan 2015 10:34:00 +0000

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Erica and James' wedding at Guildhall in Abingdon just outside Oxford. Erica and James found us through A Practical Wedding and as always with our APW couples it was exactly the type of wedding that we would love to be guests at. It was sweet, fun, relaxed, friendly and a perfect way to start the year.

Lydia and Dan, A London Wedding.

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Wed, 26 Nov 2014 15:50:00 +0000

Lydia and Dan got married last month in Kennington with a reception at one of our favourite places in London; the Garden Museum right on the banks of the Thames. It was a perfect day with blue skies and crisp autumn air and the guests mingled outside in the beautiful garden as the sun set over the river.

It was a wonderfully relaxed day and so much fun to be a part of.

Daniela and Matt came to England from their home in New Jersey to get married in historic Chester.

Their wedding was complete with the most beautiful cathedral and a Roman marching band who accompanied everyone to the reception. It was a lovely day of fun and love, in an extraordinary setting.

Becca and Adam, a small preview

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Wed, 22 Oct 2014 10:11:00 +0000

We photographed this epic wedding in the Cotswolds earlier this summer with the lovely Always Andri, our favourite wedding planner. I can't wait to share more but I'm afraid it's going to have to wait just a little longer as we are inundated with Autumn weddings at the moment. Autumn is the new Summer.

Suzanne and Ben {a Glasgow City Wedding}

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Wed, 15 Oct 2014 11:46:00 +0000

Suzanne and Ben got married at Glasgow University Chapel and celebrated their marriage at 29 in Royal Exchange Square. It was an immensly touching Humanist ceremony followed by a fun filled party on a rooftop in the city centre.

It was really lovely to see Suzanne again, we first met at her cousin Claire's wedding to Dan back in 2010 where she was a bridesmaid. It's always lovely to see people as their lives grow and change. Cara had the pleasure of photographing Claire and Dan and their baby boy last summer as part of her family photography business, Bluebird and the Bear. You can see those photos here.

Martha and Nick {A Shropshire Wedding}

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:21:00 +0000

Martha and Nick got married this summer in Newport, Shropshire. The reception was at the glorious Longford Hall in the most beautiful sunshine and Martha wore a gorgeous vintage inspired dress by the London based company Fur Coat No Knickers. Martha and Nick hired two beautiful vintage Citroën 2CVs to drive them to and from the church and a ceilidh band for some wonderful evening entertainment.

Grace and Phil {an Irish seaside wedding}

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Mon, 18 Aug 2014 12:08:00 +0000

It was with great excitement that we flew into Shannon airport at the end of June for our first ever trip to Ireland and Grace and Phil's beautiful wedding at Doonbeg Hotel, right on the beach. It was a gorgeous day and a delight to be a part of. Everyone was filled with joy to watch these two wed and tears of happiness were shed all round!

Kayleigh and Gareth, a Scottish Castle Wedding.

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Tue, 22 Jul 2014 13:00:00 +0000

Kayleigh and Gareth live in London but are, like us, both from Scotland. They decided to travel back north to have a big old Scottish wedding and we were so happy to be invited to photograph it.

They got married at Dunkeld Cathedral, a stunning church in the Highlands, situated on a riverbank with the most beautiful church grounds ever. Then they bussed their guests to the fabulous Blair Castle, a venue about as Scottish as it gets, walls dripping with spears and antlers.

It was a beautiful summer evening and the setting sun lighting cast everything in a golden glow as the guests enjoyed themselves out on the lawns before setting the dance floor on fire with some truly excellent moves.

Brooke and Tristan, a Greek wedding.

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Tue, 01 Jul 2014 10:37:00 +0000

In May we were lucky enough to travel to Greece, to photography Brooke and Tristan's wedding on the island of Rhodes. We always love to travel and to see new places and as neither Nye or I had ever been to Greece before this was a huge treat. The storm clouds hovered over, threatening all morning and making for the most dramatic moment as Brooke stepped out of the car at Kalithea Spa, but as the ceremony started the storm rolled out to sea, leaving behind a bright blue sky and a perfect Mediterranean view.

After the ceremony we travelled up the coast to a tavern where we were all treated to an amazing meal of salad, tzatziki, bread and grilled meat and a lot of wine on the grass, overlooking the sea and the setting sun. After dinner a pair of traditional Greek dancers led the festivities, swirling and twirling into the night and the evening was rounded off with a firework display echoing out over the water.

Our next wedding is in Province, France and we are thoroughly enjoying our summer of travel!

Joey and Eric, a Hong Kong to London Engagement Shoot

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Mon, 16 Jun 2014 09:47:00 +0000

When Joey and Eric travelled all the way from Hong Kong to London to have their engagement photos taken they weren't banking on days and days of relentless rain to give their pictures that authentic British look. Both Joey and I spent the days leading up to their shoot obsessively refreshing the weather forecast, hoping for a break in the constant drizzle and as if by divine intervention, we got it; at 2pm as we were due to meet in a car park in Hampstead, the rain stopped. Miraculously, it stayed stopped until ten minutes before the end of our shoot two days later.

Joey and Eric lived in London many years ago and they wanted to revisit some of their favourite places - Tower Bridge, Southbank, Westminster and Trafalgar Square, as well as to discover some new spots that they didn't know. To that end we spent our first day together in Hampstead, first at the beautiful and otherworldly Hill Gardens and Pergola, a well hidden gem just a little west of Hampstead Heath. The Heath is where we headed afterwards, to take some photos with London's spectacular backdrop behind us.

The next day posed unforeseen challenges as every few minutes we were stopped by someone who wanted their photograph taken with Joey and Eric in their amazing Chinese wedding outfits! But despite the admiring hoards we managed to find a few quiet spots to take some pictures and we ended the day in the bustling Trafalgar Square.

Delia and Chris {A London Rowing Club wedding}

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Tue, 03 Jun 2014 12:32:00 +0000

Delia and Chris were the first couples that we met with when we moved to London. As their wedding finally rolled around early in May in seemed like a lifetime ago that we met them in a cafe by the Photographer's Gallery in central London although it was actually almost exactly a year.

It was a perfect May morning as I arrived at High Road House in Chiswick to photograph Delia, her mum and her bridesmaids getting ready for the wedding. The light poured into the beautiful white room at the top of the building and it was the perfect backdrop for the palette of blush pink flowers and the hint of sparkle that glittered from Delia's Jimmy Choo platforms and stunning Cymbeline dress from Blackburn Bridal. It was no wonder that Delia's dad had a proper cry when he saw her coming down the stairs!

Meanwhile Nye was with the groom and his family and ushers at the Temperance in Fulham, just around the corner from the church where the wedding ceremony was to take place. The Temperance not only has a great name but is a beautiful, sparkly place to have a pre-wedding sausages and mash! Everyone then made their way on foot to All Saints Fulham, a stunning church that was a joy to revisit after Sophie and Toby's wedding there last summer. The church itself is magnificent but its surroundings are so special, nestled in amongst the trees and sitting by the river Thames.

After the ceremony all of the guests walked in the sunshine from the church to London Rowing Club on the other side of the river. We stopped on Putney Bridge to take some photographs of Delia and Chris with the beautiful river in the background before we finally arrived at the Club to commence the celebrations. The Rowing Club's dining room is a perfect, elegant, quirky setting for a wedding meal with the walls dripping in portraits of notable members, beams and a boat lining the ceiling, fireplaces begging for arrangements of beautiful flowers and views out across the river.

After a beautiful dinner the celebrations continued with a champagne fountain and dancing into the night, while the lights of the boats on the Thames twinkled in the distance.

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Tue, 13 May 2014 10:58:00 +0000

It was the most beautiful, most perfect, most blue-skied day when Ariane and Johnny married at Ariane's childhood church on the banks of the Thames.

The bride wore gold, the groom wore a kilt and they celebrated into the night at the Lansdowne Club (former home of Mr Selfridge) in Mayfair.

Nikki and Chris {the wedding}

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Fri, 02 May 2014 12:19:00 +0000

Last month we travelled back up to Scotland to photograph Nikki and Chris' wedding at Loch Tay in Perthshire. Nikki and Chris had come a long way from their new home in Australia to celebrate with their friends and family at a location that meant a lot to them. Firbush Point is an outdoor centre on the banks of the loch which holds beautiful memories for both of them, all the more so now that it's the place where they got married.

They held the reception at the local village hall, focusing on good music and good eating and boy, was there good eating. Our very favourite caterers Lazy Sunday provided the food and it was utterly beautiful, as always. Guests then danced the night away to the sounds of a ceilidh, the music echoing out over the sleepy village. It's always wonderful to go back to Scotland again and this wedding was some of the absolute best that Scotland has to to offer.

Oh Scotland. We've missed you.

Julia and Edward, a winter wedding.

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Mon, 03 Feb 2014 11:29:00 +0000

Just a few days after Christmas Julia and Edward got married in Hertfordshire, on a cold crisp day. Julia wore a spectacular gold lace sequinned dress with incredible blue Monolo Blahnik shoes, the ceremony was held at sunset and afterwards everybody poured out of the church into the candle lit darkness. The reception was in the library of Abbot's Hill school where everyone was warmed by steaming glasses of mulled wine and the beautiful wool blankets that were draped over the chairs in place of favours. After dinner the amazing Rebel Party Band provided an absolutely rocking party and as we left the music was filling the cold, dark winter air.

A Scottish Winter Wedding.

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Mon, 20 Jan 2014 11:30:00 +0000

In the middle of November I travelled up to the far north of Scotland to photograph this beautiful, tiny wedding planned in a mere 6 weeks. The far north of Scotland is not usually somewhere you want to be in the middle of November, not if you've turned into a soft southerner, but it was the crispest, clearest most beautiful day and the whole thing was a joy to be a part of. It was also a delight to see sweet Lotte of Lotte and Bloom again, I always love working with such creative genius.

Susan and Kevin {Scottish Highland wedding}

noreply@blogger.com (cara) — Tue, 14 Jan 2014 10:49:00 +0000

Susan and Kevin got married on a beautiful winter day in the Scottish Highlands, at Achnagairn House which is one of our favourite wedding venues. It was a lovely ceremony during which Susan and Kevin exchanged books and read a wonderful reading called Marry a Girl Who Reads.

I hope you're all well and had a lovely festive season. We're currently sinking under the common cold, but reliving Susan and Kevin's day cheered my right up. Enjoy.
