Whilst reading the current edition of CWB (the leading kids trade editorial) - we came across the stats for the UK baby wear market. Lilly and Sid were named in the top 3 best selling baby wear brands in the UK. A fantastic birthday present for our third year celebrations !

The Lilly + Sid team have just returned from a fab Bubble trade show ! We had a record turn-out on our blackboard themed stand with some clear favourites from our AW12 fashion collection .The new baby gifts, and baby girl dress sets were very well received and our cool reversible baby dress looks set to become a new Lilly + Sid classic.

Our new baby knitted blankets went down a storm, especially as they are manufactured in the UK. We now have over 12 baby blankets in our collection that you can check out on the link below

With our usual focus on catwalk and street trends mixed with vintage inspiration, the AW12 fashion collection looks set to bring us another record sales season. We hope we can also give great sell through to our stockists again this year. We will be taking trade orders until March so do contact us for wholesale enquiries.

The other great thing about ‘the shows’ is catching up with our friends from the other brands. This year there were lots of new brands which caught our eye- especially our new neighbours Grubbies- see you all in June!

The Beauty of Baby Blankets

One of the most popular pieces in the Lilly + Sid Classics Collection are our beautiful knitted baby blankets. Our chunky knitted baby blankets have been in the Collection since we launched back in 2009, and the reason we created them for our lunch range seems to be the reason why they sell so well- knitted blankets make great gifts.

Thinking back to the exciting births of our own three children, one of the bests gifts we received was a blanket handknitted by Great Aunty Judy. Being the eldest of my mums 5 sisters, Judy used the exact same pattern she used to knit a blanket for her own baby sister, and then subsequent niece ( me !) Although my request for a brights colour scheme was a definite trend update, the joy of receiving such a gift has lasted through the generations.

When creating the baby blankets for the Lilly + Sid range we primarily wanted a hand-knitted option. Further down the development process we needed to go with the consistent quality assurance of a machine knitted garment but worked really hard with our factory to create the look and chunky handfeel of a hand knitted baby blanket.

Our daughter is nearly nine now, but Aunty Judys knitted blanket is still going strong, having been passed down to her two younger brothers. We hope that our Lilly + Sid knitted baby blankets will also be passed down through the generations- a baby gift forever loved.

Further to our ‘well spotted’ trend alert back in May, the fashion world is quite franky obsessed with dots! Vogue highlight dots as being ’the key decoration to play with now’ in their guide to A/W 11 fashion.

half of 2011 as we have two more awards nominations to add to our collection.This month you can find us in Junior Magazine having won the coveted highly commended position for Best Designer Baby Brand in their prestigious design awards. We are so pleased to be recognised by our favourite editorial and be in print alongside such names as Boden, Gaultier, Joules etc…We have also been announced as finalists in the Nectar Business Awards under the Best Small Business category, so keep everything crossed for a win for us !

Our mantlepiece in filling up nicely, (not forgetting our three awards from last year also Kids in Fashion + Style Best Kids Accessory Brand, Kids in Fashion + Style Best Designer Kids Brand and Growing Business Awards finalist) but it’s an extra large mantlepiece so watch this space for more great news!
