Little Table but adorable!

Very old condition and not care, but when I start sand it I found the best wood grain ever.

I just left the grain How I discovered "original", because It was just great.

Painted the legs and a small little fix in this old legs here and there and that was all.

The top I use light wood stain and some very good wood protection,

Awesome table!

Another Dresser, Oh My!!!

This week only dresser make over.

This one I found, took me forever...

Three covers of thick, decades old paint, plus wall paper everywhere. I felt like an archeologist painstakingly peeling back the layers of time as to not harm the artifact buried underneath (I know, a little overdramatic).

Finally, with the stripper, I took everything off and left this sweet baby buck naked, I found the beauty of this lovely piece included the glass vintage knobs and the great old vintage wheels. Great and Awesome found!

Well this time I only paint the drawers but I left the top with just a dark wood stain. I choose a light cream color from B.Moore ( great paint), I did a little distress how you will see it in the picture.

Inside burlap covers for each drawer and I choose some dark hardware for the perfect combination with the top of the desk.

This piece I really love it!

Spring Time!!

Hello Friends,
Are we ready for my favorite time of the year?
I found two old homemade wood plant stands, impossible for me to leave alone without just a little makeover.

First one I painted to a New England Cottage style. The other one I partially stripped the old stain leaving some deep inside the joints and added a red stain on top to give it a strong natural rustic feel.

They really come up very nice! Let see what you think...

Cranberry Spring!

Welcome Back!
I love Red Cranberry, so today I make the decision to paint this Desk that I've had for long time with one of my favorites color.
Too much work on this desk, to much repair and wood glue, but underneath really, great oak wood to work on!
Inside I chose burlap to line the drawers and a little cute flower stencil.
Well,it came up very nice, I left some picture of Before and After for you to enjoy, hope you like it!

Mail Box and Key Holder

Dear Friends, Today I tried a new color "Grey", I was inspired to use this color by the weather outside of my window, at the market. It has been so very cloudy and cold this pass week in Massachusetts. Instead of letting it depress me, I used it to inspire me!

I did some distress on the borders and I used an old metal Butterfly (that I rescued from a broken wind chime) and some dark varnish, to give the wood and the color some antique look.

Hope you enjoy the Transformation from a coffee mug to a cute Butterfly!!!

Candle Holder with Box

Hello Friends!

Today I finally finished a project, that I found with my sister some time ago.

I liked how it looked when I found it (very rustic), but something wasn't quite right, and I really didn't know what to do with it!!!

I remembered when I used the red poinsettia color for the great dresser, that I all ready sold to a very lovely couple from Boston, Ma, so I said to my husband "I think I will try red again".
Instead of poinsettia I used a

Red Bay from Benjamin More, it's a little bit more dark but I really like it.

Well here is, hope you enjoy it.

Finest Seating ever...

Hello Dear Friends, I'm back with some great paint and great designs for some chairs that I found on the side of the road, Really!!. I still just don't believe what I found, and the beautiful transformation it went through.
Well, the history is that my husband and I were driving home very late at night, on a dark back country road, and we passed by an old Victorian house that was having a lot of old stuff on the side of the road, abandoned, waiting to be picked by the Trashman. At that moment I said to my husband "did you see the chairs?", and he tiredly said "What?... What chairs???". I convinced him to stop and turn around, since there was no light (not even the moon) we had to use the highlights, and as we drove by again, I yelled "Those Chairs..!!" and he said "What about those chairs?". It was then; very late at night, in front of an old Victorian home, deep in the country, using only our headlights to see what we were grabbing, that I introduced my husband to "Curb Shopping"

At home I stripped, sanded, gessoed, painted, painted again, and then again, and then added some distress (something that I love to do in furniture) to the chairs. I found some beautiful, multicolored fabric to reupholster the chairs with, that would accent the treatment. Before I knew it, I turned what someone threw out, into very classy and refined furniture.

More Than Fair at their Crafts

The 17th annual Middlesex Arts and Crafts Fair this weekend drew records to MCC's Bedford campus, with more than 70 artists and crafters presenting and selling their work at the popular holiday event.

Among the many unique, hand-made items on sale this weekend were fine woodcrafts, baskets, needlework, jewelry, glassware, holidaty decorations, quilts, candles, and soaps.

Farm fresh produce and fresh-baked breads, pastries and cookies were also available.

Raffle items included themed gift baskets, as well as tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockefeller at Boston's Wang Theatre.All of the proceeds from the Arts and Crafts Fair benefit the MCC Foundation.Great job by all of our crafty friends!

I think this was one of the best MCC Craft Fairs. Loved the Boy Scouts helping at the door. The day was sunny and the vendors were cheerful. Many people were beginning their Christmas shopping. I purchased fruits and veggies and they were great too!

Always Light a Candle...

I have to confess, I love Candles. I paint some more new designs for this great holiday season "Christmas", my favorite time of the year. I choose to paint some Snowman's, Santa Claus and a new design that I call the twist, using some gold, red, green and my favorite copper color.

I love Candles I think it is very important and delicate to light a candle , specially at home for Christmas on a dinner table or for decoration. When I light a candle it feels warm and always reminds me of my family and friends wherever they are. It's so nice to have a candle on and it is very decorative, especially I like the candles on the windows, I see it everywhere now for the Holidays, I wish they were always there, It looks like the old times and it make the house look so cozy and looks great for Christmas, like on the Christmas history books the house decorated for Christmas and smell like pine from the tree, fresh baked cookies and of course the unforgettable fire place, well I think you all ready understand that it's my favorite time of the year.

Hope you like my candles and please don't forget to light one and always make a wish!!

Rejuvenate End Table

Hello dear friends;

Today is Rejuvenation Day!!!, of course only with the colors.

Let me show you what I did with this end table that my husband found not too long ago, in a yard sale.

This end table was in a dark mahogany style, not any more!!!, Now, it's this wonderful fall color with a little bit of added distress on the top and legs to make it look more sophisticated.

I think the color was a little bit too glossy in the begging, but after I added the dark ink to make it look "country", It just come up perfect.

Red Poinsettia Dresser

How soon is now?
Here is one more excellent furniture,
Today my choice of color was for a red passion Red Poinsettia, that my mother in law found it in her basement and gave to me.
The company who created this furniture was Macey-Morris Co.
They were making household & office Furnishing here in Boston, Massachusetts.
This company closed in 1970.
The dresser is made of Oak and I added some polished chrome knobs.
Well hope you enjoy this creation, I really like it and I'm thinking on selling it.

Finally, I can say we are now in our nest!!!! It is wonderful to live in a place that lets you smile when you wake up. SOOOO long, TOOOO long in a hotel (the front desk asked me very polity to stop refinishing their furniture).
After all this time I can go back to writing in my little blog and post all these pictures of all the crafts I been doing and trying to do all this time. Well now, no more excuses about not writing in my blog, I have a home, and I have my work space.
It feels good to say, that we love Massachusetts and we are very happy with the place we have for living, we have a beautiful river running in the back of our home and all these beautiful trees changing the leaves and the wonderful colors we just love it.

Well let's talk about paint and craft and all what I been doing all this time,
I find in a Yard Sale no too long ago, 2 Old tins very, very rustic and rusty and in very bad shape. My husband always laugh at the old beaten up things that I fall for.
After I sand it and start to do the first coat, I can say they start to look much happier. And, despite the rust the metal was still in very good shape.

Boston, Part 2

Here is the second part of our adventure to Boston city, some more great pictures of great Boston old town.

I was more interested in the old architectural buildings, like the State House, Custom House Tower, The Kings Church, The John's Adams Court House, The Old State House in the middle of the tall buildings, Boston Public Garden with the Swans Boats, The Boston Common with Tall and old old trees, and of course the beautiful Boston Harbor with the New England Aquarium and the Ferry's with out stop and the very old Boats.

We had a very great time, It was a wonderful day, we really enjoy our second adventure walking for hours from the Boston Commons to The Boston Harbor, it was amazing to see all those buildings all that history that I will learn in the time I will be here. See you soon.

Candle Time!!

Hello again and welcome, i have some more beautiful hand painted candles to show you.
When i paint a candle it takes me around one to two hours to paint them, but it's always fun and relaxing for me, almost like working on a garden.
I made the decision to paint music notes and some contemporary cute trees on these ivory candles.
I can imagine the music note candles placed atop a piano or near some instruments. The Tree candles maybe on a window sill or dinning table or wherever. I think we can all agree that candles are the perfect accessory for almost any room.

My next inspiration was painting some tea candle holders, again using acrylics, but this time i used almost all shiny metallic ones like silver, copper and gold acrylics.
I'm very happy to do this project with paint because i never thought that it would work so well on both wax and glass, but really, it worked perfectly and i'm looking forward to finding use for acrylics on all types different textures (if any of you have any great suggestions, please, let me know). But, between you and i, for now i prefer painting on wax, it's very smooth and makes the candles look great.
Well i left here some of the pictures i took after painting.

2 Old Chairs at Lina's Market

Well let me show you what I get a couple of months ago.
These 2 great chairs I find at a garage sale and I can't say no to $20 for both.-
The chairs was in a very "no care" condition, and I decide to take it to my sister to ask her about some ideas, her first idea was the upholstery, they was having a gross stained old old pink color and the wood really needed a very good sand work on it. So my sister did the upholstery and I did the dirty job, what fun!!!!.
The sand work was not too difficult, because the wood was very soft (I don't know what kind of wood) and no need to put to much pressure on the sand paper. Here it is....

After a little hard work and some wax, the Chairs were beginning to look good. They still looked like they needed something more, so I applied varnish and my sister did a great job with the fabric I chose.

So now please enjoy my 2 Walnut Victorian Needlepoint Balloon back chairs!!! See you soon.

A little Visit to Boston, part 1.

Hello dear friends...and Welcome back...
Yesterday we went on a little trip to Boston and we visited too many areas.
One was the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, the mother church of the roman catholic archdiocese of Boston, the Cathedral serves a vibrant and diverse community, including English, German and Spanish-speaking congregations.
It was built right after the Civil War (and before Christmas),
on December 8, 1875.
One of the many things that caught my attention was all the different stained glass, I found that it was a collection (New England's largest and earliest stained glass collection) and It was made in Munich, Germany.
My eyes were attracted to the intense colors of the windows which decorated the stark interior in considerable light. The primary colors of the glass was of blue, purple and complimented with greens, which glowed almost like a kaleidoscope.
As with most Cathedrals the architecture is both grand and very detailed.
I look forward to revisiting come the Holidays.
I will post some of the pictures hope you like it, but really if you come to Boston is something that you can not miss. Bye Bye.....

Massachusetts, here we are!!!

Hello to everyone,

Here I am writing again, well we finally move to Massachusetts and we really like it!!!
We are now living in a Hotel for 25 days and I really want to move to my little cozy place, were I can get inspired and start to do my art again, looking foward to getting new/old furniture and start painting. My Husband yesterday met a woman who is from the area, and she gave him some information about local antique flea market that we can go, It is in an old town from 1700's, so nice this lady, but I'm prety sure that my husband say something to her. I been looking for places were I can sell my stuff, like a small store for rent, but I think I'm going to start with flea markets and antiques markets, there are soo many that I'm very exited about all this information that I've been finding in these pass 4 days. I really want to start to do my business. I think we finally find the place, It's in another Old Town, but we are not sure yet.
I love it here, were ever you look It's a tree and it gets dark at night very fast, not too many lights on the street, I think because they like to keep it that way, but really is very nice. Well good luck if you get lost, heeheehee.

Hey, I have more antiques to show...
This lovely chair I found it with my husband close to his parent house, one hot summer Saturday.
The lady who was making the yard sale want for this 2 chair $75 each, It was to much for us, so my charming handsome husband went and convinced her if she can sell the chairs for $50 total and she say YES, I can do that... so we pay $25 for each chair total of 2.
It's great!!! I'm very happy with our chairs.
The chair was full of dust and they really need a very good clean, so I took furniture polishing and a vacuum and wiped off, after all that, I talked with my brother-in-law for a picture and I think the pictures come up very good. So here is a picture of 1 chair. They still need a little more work, but what a find. I think the women was happy that the chairs are going into a good home similar to when she first bought them, at an estate auction 20 years ago.

1 More Week in Maryland!!

Hello Again!!!
Here I am getting ready to move to Massachusetts. Surprise...
I will miss Maryland, so beautiful all the country view. I will miss Virginia my first home, and Washington Dc, all the history, all the museums and all the monuments, but very happy to move to Ma, especially with all the old, old, old history there. Old houses from the 1700, all the old barns and the beauty of fall and the great beaches, I think I will get inspired with all those new color, but specially with all the Antiques shops, Flea markets, old furniture,lighting, architectural salvage,...I never really know what I might find, but sounds so(picking time)great.
I had all ready pack, all my antiques, all my craft stuff and all my paint, I already miss my friends, I can't live really with out the brush on my hand. In the past two night I couldn't sleep well, I'm so happy that I want to do more and more craft. Yesterday when my great,
sweet husband and I we was driving from Virginia to Maryland after visiting my sister and her family, we pass by Old Lucketts Store but it was close Whaaaaa, I was thinking to go inside and look the store for the last time, all that amazing collection they have. We was getting close to the store and it is a street light in the corner of the store, the only one after 5 miles driving and I was saying inside me please keep it green so I will not suffer so much, but what was the color "RREDD".
I just saw the outside antiques they had and my brain was screaming I want to go inside whaaaaa!!! I was shopping for long time there and I love it, well there is where I meet Mustard Seed stuff, my sister and her friend know her in person, But not me. But I like all the vintage things they had there, all the artist peoples, all what they do...It's awesome!! , especially all the old furniture and the paint colors.
It's my sister and her friend's fault that I'm doing all of this , they introduced me, because they love old furniture and they restore furniture so well that I get in to it, but not complaints, I like it too. I think painting it's my strong, specially the candles.
Well, I will show a chair, that my husband pick at Lucketts, he is so great, It's the only guy who can handel all of this!!! hehehe. He bought an old Ice cream chair, I didn't have the time to take a picture of the old red color. It was a dark but very dark cherry color and to be honest I never like it. Well I took it to my sister and I sand all the horrible color out, and you will see what I found under that!!!. We only pay 40 dollars,
but I think It will look great at my craft desk, "I LOVE IT", See you later!!!
