I can definitely say that I have really fond memories of this film – friends and I would play it over and over during parties, or throw on the soundtrack, which is high on my list of “Best Soundtracks” (trust me, that list is longer, and more competitive than you think).

As far as “what it’s about…” That’s a hard question. Single breath version:

A French boy lives with his grandmother and he’s depressed so his Grams buys him a dog which works but only for a little bit so she introduces him to bicycling which he absolutely adores (but his parents were cyclists and died or something) so he gets really good at it and enters the Tour de France but instead gets kidnapped by the French mafia and shipped to a new city so his Grandma and the dog, Bruno, go looking for him but she runs into these elderly triplets who used to be a singing act but are now just kind of crazy and Grandma becomes part of their group and they all go and try to rescue her grandson from the mafia.

Get it? Did I mention this is a silent film, save for the musical parts (which are in French)?
