As you can read above, I've started up a new blog and decided to just maintain that one blog. Instead of having 3, I'll just have one. Of course I'll label them and etc...in case you don't want to read about... whatever lol. I just thought this would be easier to do. 05.02.13 - Detrivore Cosmetics

Detrivore Cosmetics was having a sale 3 for $10 and I couldn't pass up the sale.

Unfortunately, it did take quite awhile for it to arrive (about a month). I didn't mind but I know some people did. Is it worth the wait? I believe it is.

As usual, the eyeshadows came shrink wrapped with the ingredients stuck on them.

I only ordered 3. I realized that I need to do an inventory so I don't accidentally purchase doubles or triples :P Detrivore is starting to be one of the companies that I, definitely, need to list. That's the main reason why I didn't order more.

I was disappointed in this order NOT because of the long wait. This would actually have been my fault. The colors, I chose... I'm not really attracted to. Lol. It goes to show how everyone's computer monitors makes everything look different / photos of the products. The only one I really liked was Scar. The formula is still great, but like I said. It's only because of the colors I chose so it was completely my fault ^_^; I think it's time I made my inventory list. ^_^;;;

Susan of Darling Girl Cosmetics released some new colors and I'm quite addicted, so I had to have them. I'm showing two orders (though the first two photos are only one order ;P) that I placed recently.

Bubbles - I failed at capturing this color. It's a pinky-beige with a strong green sheen. I know my photos don't show it -_-; But trust me, it's green (not blue!) This was originally a GWP (gift with purchase) and I asked if I could have it as a full-size and she acknowledged. Woot!

Due to popularity, it's not a permanent shade :) YAY!

Sweet Savage - Matte (I know it shows shimmers, but it's from Bubbles) blue-based pink.

I wanted to try out her matte formula so I ordered a few from her MILF ("Matte I'd Like to Find") Collection. Unfortunately, I'm not too impressed with her matte formulas.

This pink shade is my absolute fave type of pink but this took 4 layers to show the way it does in the photo.
:( It wasn't pigmented at all.

Darling Girl needs to stop putting out such beautiful colors *shakes fist*! ^_^; I liked most of my order minus most of the mattes as I've said above.

04.01.013 - Pink Culture Cosmetics

I've never heard of Pink Culture Cosmetics until I joined an FB group. The owner, Brittany, was working on some new products and new photography for her store. There were a few colors I wanted to try out and that's when I made my first order.

It didn't take long for my order to arrive, in fact it shipped the day after I ordered.

It came packaged in this adorable pink vinyl (?) drawstring bag. I'm totally keeping it O_O;;; to use for other things!

I ordered five full-sizes and received 3 samples (clamshells).

I'm in a few makeup groups and in different groups, someone posted about Chaos Cosmetics. (Store is currently on vacation, but here is their Facebook page.)They had some gorgeous looking duochromes but also, their photos looked so editted that I couldn't help but wonder if the actual products looked like their photos.

When I went on their site, Ethereal and Courtesan were the ones I wanted to check out the most because of their overly editted photos. I must say, it really doesn't look the same on the site but they're still really pretty.

Chaos Cosmetics make really beautiful duochromes but there are colors I'm a little "iffy" about. Examples are the sample baggies I've received; I've seen these same shades from suppliers but like I said, I can't just say they're repacks and a lot of other companies have made the same colors.

Their website is a pain in the butt to navigate and the overly editted photos also prove to be a disappointment.

The formula is really nice, though. Smooth, blendable, and very pigmented. Maybe, I'll have to give it another shot to see what I think. Their prices are also a little higher than most indies, they range from about $7.50+ for a full-size jar.

02.22.13 - Urban Decay (OZ): Glinda Palette

I don't know what it is about Urban Decay. Most of the time, whenever they come out with something new, I really want it. Most of the time ^_^; It could also be because they were my first high-end brand.

I'm pretty sure everyone has seen these palettes already, but I already did swatches for them so TAA DAA! When they first came out with this, I was honestly very hesitant to get it. Usually, I'd just snatch it up right away. [Btw, I liked the Glinda palette more than the Theodora one. My friend pointed out that it was probably because my name's in the Glinda palette (My name is Linda, if you didn't know already ;P)] Well, I decided to wait...

Then my tax return arrived *dances* and this was the first thing I purchased. Yay!

It's probably sad to say that I wanted this palette for three things only:

#1) The actual packaging. I love this palette. If you didn't know already, this is a refillable palette (with Urban Decay eyeshadows only, I believe). I love how the design looks

#2) The eyeshadow color Magic (you'll see below), it's gorgeous!

#3) The jumbo lip pencil that they include.

Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Glinda

Glinda is definitely a my lip color but better. It's a nude pink-brown color. The swatch looks more brown than pink >_>; (I blame my lighting)

Well, I was highly satisfied with this palette especially for the things I really wanted it for (Lol). The huge disappointment for me was the color OZ. It's that overly chunky-glitter that is quite annoying. The other colors weren't very unique to me but like I said, I got this palette for: Glinda, Magic, and the actual palette (packaging). ^_^;

Anyway, Don't Teal Me You Love Me is a deep violet that has a strong (when I say strong, I mean you don't even see the base color) turquoise sheen in certain light and a strong blue sheen in other light.

It's truly a gorgeous color.

Honestly, this color is the most disappointing. It's sheer and patchy and kind of rubs down to a strange golden brown color. Maybe that's not a bad thing but I kind of wanted it to remain that burgundy color. :( Oh well. Only one color out of many that was a disappointment. ^_^

02.06.13 - Dark Heart Designs

In November 2012, Dark Heart Designs was having a 50% off sale. I had purchased only one time before and that was before they switched packaging, but it had been awhile (about 2 years?) since then. So, I decided I wanted to give it a shot. I ordered two sets, the Once Upon a Time Collection and the Deliciously Mad Collection [I would link them but their store is empty right now]. I must say I was disappointed... Read on...

Now, I don't mean for this post to be a rant. Like I said, I had purchased from her before but it's been awhile. My first order went through with no problems and was quick to ship. The only problem I had for this order was the incredibly long wait!!!!

Yes, she did mass-email everyone and kept in contact through Facebook but I expected the longest wait time to be a month. I had contacted her and she did email me back promptly, but... I was getting frustrated during the last month because I was taking a financial hit (my job decided to cut hours) and I decided that I'd rather get my money back than wait any longer. So I emailed her again but received no response. Instead, I received a "Your order has been shipped" notice. So much for cancelling it.

What I didn't post: the two lipsticks that were included. One was a tangerine color and the other was a deep red. I didn't try them either. Why? There was a STRONG citrus scent to it. As much as I love fruity scents... For some reason, I couldn't handle that one. Maybe it was because it was mixed with the waxes and whatever ingredients she used to create the lipsticks and those scents (from the waxes and oils and such) mixed with the scent/flavor she chose. It gave me a headache. >_>; Maybe I'll do a separate post on them or something...?

In conclusion, though there were some nice colors I found that I wasn't very into them. A lot of the colors [probably not the fault of the actual pigmentation of items; but because I chose them] were light and sheer. There were also the ones that had a ton of microfine cosmetic glitter in them that would create a ton of fall out and looked weird unless you use a cosmetic-grade glitter adhesive or suffer from splotchy glitter patches which will eventually fall all over the place. The formula and texture I wasn't a fan of either. How do I explain this? It feels like there's no base, so it feels as if it can fly off your skin if you rub it off. The eyeshadows weren't velvety smooth; more like... very very very fine.

I just checked my previous order from them and found the formula to be the same as above.

Anyway, have any of you ordered from Dark Heart Designs? What did you think? I'd like to know.

When Sugarpill came out with their new Heartbreaker palette, my hands were itching to get it. But, I decided to wait....

So Christmas goes by and I receive some money from some relatives and I was like "Omg! I need to get the Heartbreaker palette!" And that's what I did. They, also, had an adorable keychain... and I'm such a sucker for cute things...-_-;

TAA DAA! Isn't she adorable!?! I'm still trying to figure out where to put her.

Anyway, my order came in fairly quickly. I thought it would arrive later because it was the holiday season and Sugarpill is located a few hours away... but still ;P I thought it'd arrive a little later.

I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos lately and thought that it would be a good idea to do a 2012 INDIE AWARDS thing ^_^; Taa daa!!! These are based on products that I've tried in 2012. [Mostly collections that actually came out in 2012 but there are a few products that came out before...so... I can't really say they're all products that came out in 2012]. Everything was purchased by me and this is obviously in my opinion.

And yes, I drew that drawing up there. It's supposed to be a skinny version of me ;) Lol.

MaddStyle Cosmetics had a new holiday collection come out along with a new website. The website is super cute. I like it more than their Artfire store which got quite confusing to look through. But I like this one more. If I'm not making any sense, I've got the flu and have taken a lot of medicine and I'm quite drowsy right now >_>

Anyway, it didn't take long for my order to arrive *dances*. I was super excited because Holiday in Whoville was a rainbow set which is super cute and I love a rainbow set! This is the third time I have ordered from Shiro Cosmetics. The first time being about 2 years ago, and the second when she came out with the Death Note collection.

When Caitlin posted her new Christmas glosses, I had to have them! Not for me, but for other people. [No swatches!, just quick photos of them since like I said, they're for other people]. Also, when she made her new Color of the Month, I had to have it!

Anyway, onto the photos! Here's what I got in my package. She included some candy (not shown, as they've been sucked down already LOL) and two samples.

Eye Contact which is a medium pink with a blue undertone.

Deku is a bronze with copper shimmers.

Just look at the label *dies laughing*

And the name of this eyeshadow :P It's just awesome. I had to have it, as I am a retail employee that has to work super long hours during the holiday season.

The Tears of Retail Employees

Zelda

The Tears of a Retail Employee is a very complex color! I love it! This color reminds me of the iridescent Swarovski crystals. It's got a shimmery white/golden cast with blue, red, and purple sheens depending on the light. I tried capturing it in all the photos above. O_o;

Zelda which is a metallic salmon color with some golden shimmers

Everything is Bears. I had been eyeing this color for awhile...

Chimera was another color I had been eyeing for awhile.

Chimera is another complex color. It's a gray with a golden sheen and has red, blue, and orange shimmers.

12.20.12 - SEPHORA Primal Instincts Palette

Hi everyone! Today's post will be about Sephora's Primal Instincts Palette. I got this during the Friends and Family sale.

The palette comes like this, without a box.

Here's what the palette looks like. There's also a mirror that fits the full length of the palette.

Everything is swatched under an LED light and over TFSI

Top - Bottom; L-R: Universal Beige No. 8, Sand, Camel, and Bronze

L-R: Universal Beige No. 8 is a matte off-white

Sand is a soft golden color

L-R: Camel which is a shimmery light brown

Bronze which is what it's namesake says. It's a shimmery bronze color

Top - Bottom; L-R: Gold, Apricot, Mahogony, Deep Burgundy

L-R: Gold which is definitely not gold. It's an orange-y golden brown.

Apricot is a champagne tan color.

L-R: Mahogony is a shimmery chocolate brown shade

Deep Burgundy is definitely NOT a burgundy color at all! It's a dark brown with gold and copper shimmers

Top - Bottom; L-R: Tea Rose, Taupe, Plum, and Steel

L-R: Tea Rose is a soft brown with a red duochrome. This color isn't very pigmented which is sad because this is a gorgeous shade. The swatch above was applied in multiple layers

Taupe is a nice shimmery cool-toned brown.

L-R: Plum is a plum-y purple

Steel is another taupe color but this one has more of a gray tone in it than Taupe does.

L-R: Matte Brown and Must Have No. 6

L-R: Matte Brown is a deep brown
Must Have No. 6 is a very dark matte charcoal color. It's not dark enough to be black, but it's not light enough to be gray.

Overall, I really liked this palette. There are 3 matte shades and I found them to have great pigmentation. Most of the other colors are shimmery and don't have giant disco-ball glitter. Unfortunately, because these are quite soft eyeshadows (except for Tea Rose which I found to be a really hard eyeshadow), there is fall-out.

Another Sephora Friends and Family sale item that I purchased. I wanted this palette since I first laid eyes on it. O_O; It's GORGEOUS!!!

Overall? I'm glad I got this on sale because I don't think it's worth the $55! Most of the colors have nice pigmentation. The one I found that I had a bad time with was cinderelly. There were also a number of colors that had chunky glitter.

12.13.12 - BareMinerals The Star Treatment

Today's quick post [no review; just swatches] is going to be about Bare Minerals' The Star Treatment.

This is what the inside of the palette looks like. I, completely, forgot to take a picture of the palette when it was closed. I can tell you that it's a smooth mirror finish. Because of it's finish, it's prone to fingerprints.

The set also comes with a sample of their Prime Time eyelid primer. [Which I think is quite amazing, btw!]

12.09.12 - Urban Decay NAKED BASICS

When I heard that Urban Decay was coming out with a smaller all-matte palette, I was all for it! That was awhile ago. I saw a sneak peak that someone posted on twitter and was wondering when it was going to come out. Lo and behold! A few weeks ago, they announced the Naked Basics palette.

So I used the money I working on Black Friday and waited impatiently to get notified that it was on the website so I could buy it. I got the email notification while I was at work (lucky me, I can use my phone at work) and I tried to purchase it... It kept saying it was out of stock! I was so sad. One of my co-workers wanted to buy it too so she wanted to see if I could get it so SHE could get one also. (She can't have her phone on her... I'm in a higher position she is and am constantly contacted by the managers so... that's the only reason why I could have my phone. <--totally off topic ;P)

I was sad because it's being sold on the site first then you have to wait around February or something (I forgot) for it to show up in UlTA or Sephora... :/ But I was impatient and wanted it! Lol -_-;

Alas, I think the truth was they sent out the emails too early because when I got home, I was able to order it O_O;;;

Anyway, that was my story LOL, here's the actual product >__>;

*halo sounds* Lol! Anyway, this is the packaging. If you know what the Vice Palette 's packaging was like...the NAKED BASICS has the same texture. It's quite sturdy so you can toss it in your bag and I did have it in my bag when I got it and it hasn't shattered.

The palette in all it's glory, being washed out by my flash (accident! I promise!) The palette also includes a nice mirror, though, it doesn't weigh the palette down.

A thing of beauty... ^_^

Venus is the only shimmery shade. This is a shimmery off-white (with a yellow undertone)

FOXY - Light ivory

All the shades after Venus are matte

Walk of Shame / W.O.S - Off-white with a pink undertone.

Naked 2 was the color I wanted this palette for. It's a soft fawn color.

Faint reminds me of the color of chocolate, not milk chocolate, but just plain chocolate.

Crave may look black but to me it looks like it's a very dark brown. You can definitely see that there is a brown undertone (if you look close enough). It reminds me of a burned tree... That's the only way I could describe it.

If you love neutral shades and MATTEs: this is a great palette for you! Everything is pigmented and buttery soft. And at $27, YAY! ♥

12.09.12 - Laura Mercier Artist's Palette For Eyes

When Sephora had their Friends & Family sale... I got a few things. One of them was this:

What the box looks like... Nice and textured...

This is what the actual palette looks like. Honestly, I don't like the packaging of the palette. It reminds me of ELF palettes for some reason. It feels quite cheap.

The palette includes a nice big mirror and 12 eyeshadows that range in different textures. The top row colors have either shimmer or glitter (mostly shimmer), while the bottom row are all matte shades.

Everything was taken in indirect daylight (in bad weather -_-; ) and swatched over TFSI

Chocolate and African Violet looks so pretty in their pans...

Vanilla Nuts and Plum Smoke

This is what happens when you use them. Fall-out heaven.

Chocolate and African Violet

Both shades are very pigmented and shimmery. African Violet has more of a metallic cast and is slightly chunkier than Chocolate.

Chocolate is a rich brown with gold sparkles

African Violet is a mauve with a pink metallic cast and has a golden duochrome and shimmers

Vanilla Nuts and Plum Smoke

As you can see, both Vanilla Nuts and Plum Smoke are mattes. They're very smooth mattes but they're not very pigmented.

Plum Smoke was disappointing because this color was what I was looking forward to the most as these types are my favorite colors...

Sable and Guava

Both of these have a satin finish.

Sable is a taupe with slight silver shimmers

Guava is a yellow based pink with fine silver glitters

Cafe au Lait and Coffee Ground

Cafe au Lait makes me think of milk chocolate. This color is very smooth and velvet-y

Coffee Ground is like what the namesake is. It's the color of coffee grounds. This eyeshadow comes out a little patchy...

Cameo and Sunlit

Cameo is a shimmery (also slightly chunky) copper with a pink metallic sheen.

Sunlight is a shimmery champagne gold color.

Deep Night and Rich Coffee

Deep Night is a gorgeous matte navy blue

Rich Coffee is a deep rich dark brown color

All in all, despite the disappointment of Vanilla Nuts and Plum Smoke; I think this is a great palette. I don't think it's worth the $48 though because of the cheap packaging and the less than stellar pigmentation of those two shades I mentioned above. But I think this is still a great neutral palette.
