Changes to site layout

Here at Dreamgirl Shopping we're preparing to update our online store with lots of deliciously naughty new underwear and clubwear designs for 2016, so this seems like the best time to make you aware of some changes to our site over the last few months.

Plus sizes - Our plus size category is being retired in favour of a single item listing for all sizes. These can easily be identified by the plus size heart icon in the bottom left corner of each image through all categories on our site or by searching for "plus size" (be a bit more specific in your search if you don't want all products in your search results!). Why have we done this? Over the last few years products available to us are now more widely available in larger sizes (or realisitc sizes - depending on your opinion, we prefer realistic) so it made sense to us to put them all together.

We're still a very plus size friendly shop. Unfortunately prices are higher for some items because we are charged a higher price for them in plus size, but some items are universally priced the same.

Colour variations - As above, we're retiring individual item listings for products that vary in colour. If you're returning to the site after being away for a while, it might look like theres a lot missing. In fact all our products are still there and we're gradually updating these images to have a strip of available colour choices at the bottom where more than one colour is available. We hope in the long run this will make searching for products easier for our customers. You can also search for items by colour, but again, be a little more specific - if you just search for "red" you'll be inundated with results. Unless that's how you like to search of course, then do go ahead!

Returns - This system is now automated. Just visit "my account" and follow the links to return orders. We've done this to make it easier for you to get a returns form at your convenience.

Wish Lists - These are going to be cleansed in the new year, all customers will have a blank wish list. Why? Well, those plus sizes and colour variation product listings will no longer exist and hundreds of our customer's wish lists are starting to look irrelevant already. We'll send a newsletter out in advance of this in the new year so make sure you've subscribed to our newsletter to get this update. Telephone contact - This will be returning in March of next year. Our telephone number will be changing, again, we will notify customers once the change is complete.

This school not only helps deaf children but those with autism, like my youngest son, and those with challenging and special needs, it is a vital source of social and educational care for many children and young people – for some it’s all they have and this will be devastating to them and their families.

It's been a while hasn't it....

A technical update first. Our website software was changed in January and after months of work, almost all 4700 products on the site have been rewritten to fit the new layout. Previously the site was heavily demoted by search engines for duplicate content, this is unfortunate for customers who liked our plus size category which is now almost completely gone. The same goes for customers who liked our previous format of rich desktop site and mobile mini site, this too is also gone to remedy duplicate content issues. The website is now adult rated which prevents me from marketing the mainstream stock effectively so restructuring will continue. Cosmetics will be removed shortly and seperate sites will be created to market these and our mainstream costumes, clothing and cosmetics.

While I've written this paragraph, my youngest son has squashed a tub of tomatoes onto his head one by one.

Next comes an apology to some customers who have been disappointed by poor or total lack of service over the past 2 years. It's fair to say I lost my way in life and this is the hardest jigsaw I have ever almost completed. Some of you will remember speaking to someone else who worked here. This person was the public face of the company and this person has gone. I confess to being a complete shrinking violet, a huge flaw in terms of customer service. I am afraid of letting people down and confrontation and I've let a lot of people down over the last 2 years and avoided all confrontation. I am truly sorry for the very poor service some of you have received.

While I've typed this my eldest son has done his homework and my youngest son is playing with a rubber glove in the bathroom.

I'd like to add a personal update here too, seeing as I am now the face of this company. In the last 3 years I have lost a partner to gender dysphoria, some close friends and family have passed away and my youngest son, who has flooded the bathroom and is covered in tomato pips is being screened for autism. He is a delightful child, the most adorable little boy, who is five but medically diagnosed with global developmental delay, which means he's is actually 3. He was supposed to start school last September but he was at home with me every day, and still is. His final screening is imminent and once he's settled I can devote more time to all of you once more and the phone line will be reopened.

At least there are no tomatoes left for him to play with today.

We will get through this.

So, Mary Portas is in town today after Margate was accepted into the Portas Pilot Scheme.We've heard about the grievances, and potential gagging order, and we see past the media involvement (which is why we've taken a back seat so far). Margate High Street will still be here long after the cameras have gone and so will it's traders.

Not all retail businesses are the same - we are in need of secure storage space. Hold your horses finger waggers - we may be an online business, but we retail brands that are not generally available on the High Street, we are a small independant business with the same worries and burdens as traditional independant brick and mortar stores. We don't feel responsible for the decline of the High Street and we don't like it.

Where a brick and mortar store suffers the rates, rent and unattractive parking charges, we are at the mercy of currency fluctuations, import shipment price hikes and surcharges and postal price hikes. Staffing and storage costs are pretty much like for like, and of course we are at the mercy of customers who assume an online retailer is not to be trusted simply because we don't have a b&m storefront

Ok, it wouldn't make the high street any prettier but if the council could portion off some of that unseen empty space for the likes of online retailers for storage purposes, even if it was at a discounted rate it would mean more revenue than nothing at all from an empty space, and that space would then be maintained.

Telephone Issues

Telephone Line Fault:

Since Friday 8th January 2009 we have been unable to make or receive telephone calls due to damage to the line by recent severe weather.

This is also causing intermittent problems with internet connection.

We are still receiving email, but message reception is delayed, and some messages sent on Friday are only just now being reported back as unsent.

We are expecting an engineer to begin working on this fault tomorrow (Wednesday 13th January) in our area and hope the problem will be dealt with as soon as possible.

We will update this message as soon as we have any news and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Customers please note that we are preparing to receive new lines in Stock from the Dreamgirl Lingerie Catalogue for 2010.

While we are trying to keep all customers happy and will maintian good stock levels of the lines that will be continued through 2010 and hold as many lines in stock as possible from the forthcoming collection. We are now running down stock levels of the 2009 collections which will not be carried through to 2010 (including the fall/valentines collection) in preparation for the new collections which we are expecting to start being shipped to us around the end of February 2010.
