KL 48 Hour Film Project 2010

The 48 Hour Film Project comes to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on one of the weekend of October 2010 (Confirm dates will be announced soon).

Filmmakers from all over the country of Malaysia will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world.

This project is in the pipeline for 2 years. Seriously, I tried to pull every strings I've got for this project to get this project started. And its not wrong to try to announce it here to pull more strings for this fun, fresh and energetic 'hurrah hurray! project to breath again.

'Hurrah Hurray!' have been going a long way. We've been to HD Superpitch, Asia Television Forum in Singapore. We've even presented it to Malaysia telco boy, DiGi. But luck is not in our side yet, we still believe there are believers outhere. Personally, I really believe this superfun project will work. So today, I will give it another round for 'Hurrah Hurray!' to become reality.

TAHUN ini Festival Filem Malaysia (FFM) mencatat sejarahnya yang tersendiri apabila buat pertama kalinya ia diadakan di luar Semenanjung Malaysia.

FFM22 yang akan diadakan di Dewan Cancelor, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, pada 8 Ogos ini pukul 8.30 malam menyebabkan pihak penganjur cukup sibuk menguruskan pelbagai keperluan logistik untuk festival itu.

Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia (Finas) dan Gabungan Persatuan Karyawan Filem Malaysia (Gafim) selaku penganjur bersama FFM22 misalnya, terpaksa menyediakan tiket penerbangan dan hotel penginapan untuk para delegasi yang diterbangkan dari Kuala Lumpur (KL).

Hits difahamkan, hampir 630 delegasi termasuklah pelakon dari KL akan ditaja dan dibawa ke ibu negeri Sabah itu bagi menjaya serta memeriahkan lagi festival yang mengiktiraf para karyawan perfileman tanah air itu.

Bagaimanapun, pada saat-saat akhir ada di kalangan artis seperti pelakon yang dikatakan menarik diri daripada menyertai delegasi itu kerana terikat dengan komitmen lain seperti menjalani penggambaran di lokasi sekitar ibu negara.

Timbalan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Kerja Malam Anugerah FFM22, Ahmad Puad Onah berkata, beliau berasa kesal apabila diberitahu perkara seperti itu timbul biarpun pada asalnya semua pihak terbabit sudah bersetuju hadir bagi menjayakan festival tersebut.

"Saya kesal kerana setakat ini semua tiket penerbangan yang kami sediakan sudahpun diambil oleh para delegasi termasuklah pelakon dan penerbit filem.

"Tetapi saya dengar masih ada yang mahu menarik diri kerana kononnya terikat dengan penggambaran drama atau filem. Saya kesal kerana tiket penerbangan dan hotel sudahpun ditempah dan ia dipersetujui oleh mereka ini.

"Bukannya senang untuk mendapatkan penaja dan kita telah mengeluarkan banyak belanja untuk tujuan tersebut," katanya ketika dihubungi dari Kota Kinabalu, baru-baru ini.

Terjejas

Sehubungan itu, beliau telah berbincang dengan Ketua Pengarah (KP) Finas iaitu Mohd. Mahyidin Mustakim supaya delegasi yang sudah mengesahkan kehadiran pada FFM22 dikenakan denda berbentuk bayaran wang tunai jika mereka menarik diri pada saat-saat akhir.

Menurut Ahmad Puad yang juga Presiden Gafim, tindakan itu sebagai suatu pengajaran supaya kemeriahan FFM22 tidak terjejas selain memastikan setiap delegasi memberi komitmen penuh dalam menjayakan festival itu.

"Saya sudah pun berjumpa dengan KP Finas dan mencadangkan supaya mana-mana delegasi yang menarik diri di saat-saat akhir supaya mereka ini dikenakan penalti sebanyak RM1,000 sebagai ganti rugi tersebut.

"Kita bersusah payah menaja tiket penerbangan dan hotel tetapi segelintir mereka ini senang-senang sahaja menarik diri. Antara alasannya ialah mereka masih menjalani penggambaran drama atau filem.

"Saya juga kesal kerana pihak penerbit atau pengarah tidak memberi kerjasama supaya memberi pelepasan kepada para pelakon bagi membolehkan mereka hadir pada festival ini yang diadakan setahun sekali," ujarnya.

Beliau juga difahamkan ada di kalangan pelakon yang menarik diri itu selepas mendapati nama mereka tidak tersenarai sebagai finalis pada festival yang turut dijayakan oleh Kerajaan Negeri Sabah itu.

Sementara itu, FFM22 yang bertemakan Filem Malaysia Ke Persada Dunia pula katanya, akan digunakan untuk tempoh tiga kali penganjuran festival itu yang diiktiraf oleh kerajaan melalui Kementerian Penerangan, Komunikasi dan Kebudayaan.

Ahmad Puad menyifatkan tema atau moto itu relevan dalam usaha untuk menggalakkan para pembikin filem tempatan berusaha menghasilkan filem-filem bermutu yang mampu menerjah hingga ke pasaran antarabangsa.

"Kami memang ada mendengar suara-suara sumbang yang memandang sinis moto tersebut. Tetapi berilah kita tempoh tiga tahun. Mungkin dalam tempoh itu akan ada filem-filem kita yang mampu untuk mencapai tahap tersebut," katanya.

Selaku penganjur bersama FFM22, festival itu tambahnya bukan setakat memberi pengiktirafan kepada para karyawan filem tetapi banyak juga aktiviti yang sudah diatur untuk para peminat di sekitar Kota Kinabalu dari 5 hingga 8 Ogos ini.

Antaranya tayangan filem percuma yang akan diadakan mulai 6 hingga 8 Ogos ini di pawagam GSC, 1 Borneo, Kota Kinabalu di mana 20 filem akan ditayangkan pada sesi tersebut.

Filem-filem percuma yang akan ditayangkan berjudul Talentime, Antoo Fighter, Sifu & Tongga, Budak Kelantan, Kami The Movie, Los Dan Faun, Maut, Syurga Cinta, Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula, Senario The Movie dan Cicak-Man 2.

Lepas tuh, tagline for this year 'Filem Malaysia Ke Persada Dunia'. Jangan cakap jer, memang filem Malaysia ada yang ke persada dunia, tapi banyak yang tak bertaraf dunia. Dan nak ke persada dunia serta bertaraf dunia, mentaliti dan cara kerja kenalah bertaraf dunia.

Entah kenapa hari ini aku terasa nak komen pasal politik. Mungkin sebab secara tak langsung aku terkena tempias, terperangkap di 'traffic jam' di sebabkan oleh sesetengah pihak yang kononnya mengaku memperjuangkan nasib bagi tahanan-tahanan ISA. But looks like to me its all bollocks! Bullshit!

Sebenar-benarnya pihak yang bertanggungjawab untuk menganjurkan demonstrasi jalanan ini semata-mata mahu memporak-perandakan rakyat. Melaga-lagakan rakyat dan memperkotak-katikkan penyokong-penyokong mereka. Mereka cuba nak meraih populariti atas nama NGO yang di peralat untuk kepentingan pihak mereka. Bukan nak memperjuangkan sangat Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA ataupun pro ISA tuh...auta jer semua itu.

Kalau benar nak memperjuangkan tahanan-tahanan ISA ataupun undang-undang ISA tu, at least this is not the way to burden the nation and its people. Orang lain yang tak kena mengena seperti aku yang puluhan ribu yang lain, contohnya peniaga-peniaga pasar malam kg baru dan peniaga-peniaga yang lain tuh kena tanggung akibatnya. Siapa nak memperjuangkan kerugian mereka? Adakah GMI atau pun pro-ISA nak tanggung itu semua? Macam mana pulak dengan masa yang terbuang, duit minyak yang hangus dan jiwa yang tertekan di sebabkan tersepit dalam traffic jam dan bukan itu sahaja jiwa tertekan sebab kena marah dengan bini disebabkan lambat ambil bini dari tempat kerja semata-mata di sebabkan demonstrasi jalanan yang tak mendatangkan apa-apa faedah langsung kepada orang-orang seperti aku dan juga orang lain yang senasib dengan aku.

Lagi sekali, soalan aku pada yang terlibat tak kisahlah GMI atau proISA, politik BN atau PR, sila jawab! Siapa yang nak tanggung rugi di sebabkan demonstrasi politik jalanan semalam, rugi terhadap orang-orang seperti aku dan juga puluhan ribu yang lain khususnya peniaga-peniaga di kawasan-kawasan yang terlibat, pengguna-pengguna pengangkutan awam dan persendirian di jalan-jalan raya yang terlibat semalam, orang-orang awam yang tidak kena mengena di kawasan-kawasan yang terlibat semalam?

Aku boleh agak yang masing-masing akan menuding jari di antara satu sama lain. Sampai bila? Aku cuma mahu negara ini aman dan masing-masing boleh cari rezeki untuk anak bini dan keluarga. Thats all I ever wanted.

Aku baru habis menonton Majalah 3 : Tribute to Yasmin Ahmad. Sedih dan rasanya tak malu aku cakap yang air mata aku mengalir.

Tapi bukannya sedih kerana Yasmin yang hanya aku kenal melalui filem-filem dan iklan-iklannya sudah meninggalkan dunia yang sementara ini, tapi aku terasa sebab Yasmin memberikan aku motivasi baru. Motivasi untuk sentiasa bersikap gembira, sentiasa melalui hidup ini dengan perasaan positif, sentiasa senyum serta menyapa dengan semua orang dan yang paling penting sepanjang masa letakkan lah ayah dengan emak dalam hati.

Aku cepat-cepat letak azam dalam diri aku mulai hari ini:
1) sentiasa tidak putus asa, teruskan membina kerjaya sebagai pembikin filem
2) sentiasa bersikap positif, walaupun kadang-kadang susah terutamanya bila mana ada banyak rintangan bila orang tidak menghargai titik peluh karya aku untuk mereka
3) sentiasa senyum, walaupun kadang-kadang seseorang itu buat anda menyampah dan meluat
4) dan yang paling penting sentiasa telefon dan balik melawat emak dan ayah, sebab mereka lah orang no.1 menyokong apa yang aku buat selama ini.

aku dah kena kencing dengan orang thais....fuck! they make my team n I worked and they cabut balik Bangkok without paying us even a single cents!

They make us Malaysian worked for their film, and we did work for 20 days and they screwd us our payment. They just went back to Bangkok and leave us Malaysian without even a single cent. They told us all kind of stories and that they promised to pay, but till now...nothing have been done. I got fed up and went and make a police report and determined to take action against them till justice prevail. Next action are to make a report to PPFM (Malaysian Film Workers Association) and FINAS about this...and our good Thais friend in Bangkok who happen to be a big names as Film Director, also willing to help us to launch a report to Thailand Film Board. I really hope that Thailand Film Board will teach them a lesson.

The Thais team from Bangkok are here in KL to start the pre-production for the features length film called 'an intimate life'. I am on board on this Malaysia-Thailand project as their Art Director and Linktree as the Line Producer, Location Manager and Technical Crews to support to the Thais Production.

Production start in June 2nd till July 4th. Locations all over Malaysia and Malaysia-Thailand border...and this is the 1st time I'm working with Thais. 1st challenge I encounter is language. Aiyak...how ler? But funny thing is, we manage so far. They not very good in English and most of them not at all. How we do it? hehehe we draw...we try to draw for which ever that we dont understand. We imply the basic rule of communication which is as long the information being transfered to both party, through whatever channel...then we are fine communicating to each other. It's tough but it's fun.

I should tell you more soon...

I woke up very early this morning. Had to send to her to work, since I've been always her favourite chauffeur. On the way driving, it was routine to me for tuning to Flyfm. And everyday, I'm one of those who's trying to call in to Flyfm for the competition they held every morning called 'Wake's Up Your Brain'. But the sad part is, till now I couldn't get through...the line must be busy though! Imagine most of the Malaysian who listened to Flyfm every morning at 7.45am try to win the prize money...as for today it already snowballs to RM15,300. A lot of money for people like me, kais pagi makan pagi...(yes I am!) and I think I know the answer and I won't to tell you the answer!

Then after sending her to work, I will have breakfast at my usual mamak place nearby my SOHO office. Reading the newspaper to keep me update...and today's headline was 'The Swine Flu Attack' cause by pig, bird and human flu in Mexico and also some part of the U.S. I was having my flu this morning...the usual morning flu, and while reading the newspaper and my teh tarik with roti canai, suddenly a big sneeze coming out from me! And people around me and the mamak fella looking at me at one kind...quickly, I paid for the breakfast and cabut!

Then while driving and multitasking reading the newspaper, I saw a news today about a girl been rape by her own father and the father's friend, and got pregnant. What the fuck!!! Damn to hell the father and his friend. Only man rape his own daughter particularly that man . Even animals didn't do that, we human are far lower than pig. And in Malaysia, there's a lot of this kind of cases happens from time to time. I think the government should really look into this. I would like to suggest that the man who rape his own daughter should be punish in public. The government should 'rotan' them in public and perhaps could broadcast it live in premiere hours at national tv. It would definitely give a lesson and scared them to do such thing and also to prevent the crime from being happen. And also sad to say this, that mostly the one who commit the crime of rapping they own daughter are the Malays. I am Malay and I am very ashamed of this. We malays should admit this and think on how to solve and prevent this matter. As Malaysians, we should come together to be concern on solving this issue and build a safe place for our children.

I am back at my SOHO office and back to work for my 'kais pagi makan pagi'. Chiow!

I went to FINAS today...wow its been a while. They got new building and I heard they got new and equip state-of-the-art facilities studio, post production and all that sounds really BIG! If you don't know where is FINAS, common man!...just go to our national zoo and FINAS is just right before the zoo entrance...if you miss it, go and ask the monkey.

aku datang FINAS atas jemputan a good friend of mine...launching his first features film. well, he made it I guess. as you all know, one of that many filmmaker's dream are the opportunity to actually do a features film. given the opportunity and entrust by the producer to spend their hell a lot of money to captured plan visuals, to create emotions, to present a story to the world in moving visuals.

back to the launching...so i was very exited for him. btw this fren of mine by the name of NJ...he used to work with me to supervise for the art direction for not that many corporate stuff i made. well, having someone that so called work under me before and now get lucky to debut his features first before me....that is frustrating but! im happy for him. ok kewl!

anyway, so the event start...

the miss emcee doing the SOP, then calling mr. president of film directors association malaysia fdam...this guy is really 'funny'. i don't know what his thinking. merepek...mengarut...merepek...mengarut...now its really clear why our film industry sometimes embarrassing...because we are lead by this idiots! come on...you are the mr. president of fdam. you are somehow representing the film directors of malaysia....the image of fdam...the ambassador of film industry for malaysia. and yet...you are talking nonsense on stage...is that what you consider a speech? aku rasa ko lalok laaa....and yet you the president of fdam...and yet you are the lecturer in IPTA teaching film to students...hahahaha...no wonder there's a lot of us people of the industry are like you! idiots!

then, the guest of honors turn for his speech...before that...the KP of FINAS came in late together with mr. yusof haslam...otai datang lambat xpaaa....chet! i think mr yusof haslam 'the man' cover malu dtg lambat pakai spek mata hitam..or tak pun dia dah plan nak tido masa speech yang bukan-bukan. pandai strategy datuk yusof haslam ni...siut jer!

the guest of honours giving speech, he is member of parliament for langkawi. I don't know what datuk laaa...but datuk laaa....memang betul betul datuk. aduih...letih! aku dtg nak tengok filem...bukan nak tgk datuk nie...mengarut on stage! again...mengarut...merepek...mengarut...merepek...but worst! trust me worst! i don't even understand what his saying...he was like mumbling and don't know shit what his talking about! fuck laaaa! damn sad laaa....mp macam ni....mp of langkawi....bullshit i said! fuck that!

after a while...like almost 15 minutes....the fella finish his speech. and most of the people who came for the launch already fall asleep. i can hear dato yusof haslam snoring nicely... hahaha

and finally...i got to watch the film....they show a clip....before that the emcee tiba2 syair...wow i said....then finally...im watching the clips of the film.

i am stunned. the title of the features film is 'taubat jalang' but in my heart yelling 'taubat lah korang...hentikan lah menjalangkan filem kita!' x lepas siut...kesian!

kepada NJ kawanku...aku tak tau apa nak cakap...aku rasa cam nak lempang jer kau! wake up dude!!!!!!

ok...hidup lagi rupanya! hehehe

aku buntu...kerja banyak bertimbun...lepas satu satu. tapi, kerja-kerja cari makan. kalo tak buat, tak makan laah aku. sekarang ni pun aku tengah makan...hasil kerja2 cari makan.

aku tengah kerahkan segala tenaga aku meng-applikasi-kan minda aku untuk kerja-kerja yang bersusun.

satu corporate films to do for ministry...concept clear! just need to improve on the storyline before the final presentation for green light to shoot.
and finally...after for so long tak buat features film project....i just landed to do production design and art direction for Thailand production...start in June. akhirnya...dalam banyak2, aku suka sangat job Thailand tuh...sebab i think its give me freedom for me to berkarya! kekeke

tapi...sementara tuh...day job kena buat jugak! buat video untuk orang-orang koperat!
