Cisco-compatible VPN client

New Version: 0.5.3r449

Old Version: 0.5.3
vpnc is a VPN client compatible with cisco3000 VPN Concentrator (also known as Cisco's EasyVPN equipment). vpnc runs entirely in userspace and does not require kernel modules except of the tun driver to communicate with the network layer.

It supports most of the features needed to establish connection to the VPN concentrator: MD5 and SHA1 hashes, 3DES and AES ciphers, PFS and various IKE DH group settings.
Changelog:
 * New upstream SVN snapshot with GnuTLS support (closes: #513645, #440318)
* Change resolvconf from "Recommends" to "Suggests (closes: #519947)
* Since /var/run/vpnc is automatically created, no need to have it as
part of vpnc.dirs (fixes lintian error)
KchmViewer

CHM viewer for KDE

New Version: 5.1

Old Version: 4.1
KchmViewer is a chm (MS HTML help file format) viewer, written in C++. Unlike most existing CHM viewers for Unix, it uses Trolltech Qt widget library, and does not depend on KDE or GNOME. However, it may be compiled with full KDE support, including KDE widgets and KIO/KHTML.

The main advantage of KchmViewer is non-English language support. Unlike others, KchmViewer in most cases correctly detects help file encoding, correctly shows tables of context of Russian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese help files, and correctly searches in non-English help files (search for MBCS languages - ja/ko/ch is still in progress).

Completely safe and harmless. Does not support JavaScript in any way, optionally warns you before opening an external web page, or switching to another help file. Shows an appropriate image for every TOC entry.

KchmViewer Has complete chm index support, including multiple index entries, cross-links and parent/child entries in index as well as Persistent bookmarks support. Correctly detects and shows encoding of any valid chm file.
Changelog:
 * New upstream release.

[ José Manuel Santamaría Lema ]
* Switch to dpkg-source 3.0 (quilt) format.
* Update debian/control:
- Remove quilt from Build-Depends.
* Refresh 01_disable_kio-msits_build.diff patch.

[ Fathi Boudra ]
* Add 02_grammatical_error.diff patch. Thanks to Chris Leick.
(Closes: #536201)
* Update debian/control:
- Bump build dependencies versions (debhelper and pkg-kde-tools).
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.4 (no changes needed).
* Update debian/copyright:
- kchmviewer is licensed under the GPL version 3 since version 5.0.
* Update debian/rules:
- Enable parallel build (pass --parallel option to dh).
- Use kde sequence addon. (Closes: #574309)
h264enc

encode video or DVD in H.264/AVC/MPEG-4 Part 10

New Version: 9.1.7

Old Version: 9.1.6
A shell script which makes it easy to encode DVDs or video files to the H.264/AVC/MPEG-4 Part 10 video format using MEncoder from the MPlayer project.

h264enc is written in a way to be useful for power users yet it is also very user friendly for people who are novices when it comes to video encoding. h264enc operates by asking questions to the user, collecting the input and passing it over to the encoder software. One of its unique features is the ability to use built-in video quality presets. This is especially useful to people who are just starting to encode video.
Changelog:
 * new upstream release.
Tor

anonymizing overlay network for TCP

New Version: 0.2.1.25

Old Version: 0.2.1.23
Tor is a connection-based low-latency anonymous communication system which addresses many flaws in the original onion routing design.

In brief, Onion Routing is a connection-oriented anonymizing communication service. Users choose a source-routed path through a set of nodes, and negotiate a "virtual circuit" through the network, in which each node knows its predecessor and successor, but no others. Traffic flowing down the circuit is unwrapped by a symmetric key at each node, which reveals the downstream node.

Basically Tor provides a distributed network of servers ("onion routers"). Users bounce their tcp streams (web traffic, ftp, ssh, etc) around the routers, and recipients, observers, and even the routers themselves have difficulty tracking the source of the stream.

Note that Tor does no protocol cleaning. That means there is a danger that application protocols and associated programs can be induced to reveal information about the initiator. Tor depends on Privoxy and similar protocol cleaners to solve this problem.

Client applications can use the Tor network by connecting to the local onion proxy. If the application itself does not come with socks support you can use a socks client such as tsocks. Some web browsers like mozilla and web proxies like privoxy come with socks support, so you don't need an extra socks client if you want to use Tor with them.

This package enables only the onion proxy by default, but it can be configured as a relay (server) node.

Remember that this is development code -- don't rely on the current Tor network if you really need strong anonymity.

The latest information can be found at https://www.torproject.org/, or on the mailing lists, archived at http://archives.seul.org/or/talk/ or http://archives.seul.org/or/announce/.
Changelog:
 * New upstream version.
* Change order of recommends from privoxy | polipo to polipo | privoxy.
PostgreSQL

object-relational SQL database (supported version)

New Version: 8.4.3

Old Version: 8.4.2
PostgreSQL is a fully featured object-relational database management system. It supports a large part of the SQL standard and is designed to be extensible by users in many aspects. Some of the features are: ACID transactions, foreign keys, views, sequences, subqueries, triggers, user-defined types and functions, outer joins, multiversion concurrency control. Graphical user interfaces and bindings for many programming languages are available as well.

This package always depends on the currently supported PostgreSQL database server version.
Changelog:
 * New upstream bug fix release:
- Add new configuration parameter ssl_renegotiation_limit to control
how often we do session key renegotiation for an SSL connection.
This can be set to zero to disable renegotiation completely, which
may be required if a broken SSL library is used. In particular,
some vendors are shipping stopgap patches for CVE-2009-3555 that
cause renegotiation attempts to fail.
- Fix possible deadlock during backend startup.
- Fix possible crashes due to not handling errors during relcache
reload cleanly.
- Fix possible crash due to use of dangling pointer to a cached plan.
- Fix possible crash due to overenthusiastic invalidation of cached
plan for "ROLLBACK".
- Fix possible crashes when trying to recover from a failure in
subtransaction start.
- Fix server memory leak associated with use of savepoints and a
client encoding different from server's encoding.
- Fix incorrect WAL data emitted during end-of-recovery cleanup of a
GIST index page split.
- Fix bug in WAL redo cleanup method for GIN indexes.
- Fix incorrect comparison of scan key in GIN index search.
- Make substring() for bit types treat any negative length as meaning
"all the rest of the string". The previous coding treated only -1 that
way, and would produce an invalid result value for other negative
values, possibly leading to a crash (CVE-2010-0442).
- Fix integer-to-bit-string conversions to handle the first
fractional byte correctly when the output bit width is wider than
the given integer by something other than a multiple of 8 bits.
- Fix some cases of pathologically slow regular expression matching.
- Fix bug occurring when trying to inline a SQL function that returns
a set of a composite type that contains dropped columns.
- Fix bug with trying to update a field of an element of a
composite-type array column.
- Avoid failure when "EXPLAIN" has to print a FieldStore or
assignment ArrayRef expression.
These cases can arise now that "EXPLAIN VERBOSE" tries to print
plan node target lists.
- Avoid an unnecessary coercion failure in some cases where an
undecorated literal string appears in a subquery within
"UNION"/"INTERSECT"/"EXCEPT".
This fixes a regression for some cases that worked before 8.4.
- Avoid undesirable rowtype compatibility check failures in some
cases where a whole-row Var has a rowtype that contains dropped
columns.
- Fix the STOP WAL LOCATION entry in backup history files to report
the next WAL segment's name when the end location is exactly at a
segment boundary.
- Always pass the catalog ID to an option validator function
specified in "CREATE FOREIGN DATA WRAPPER".
- Fix some more cases of temporary-file leakage.
This corrects a problem introduced in the previous minor release.
One case that failed is when a plpgsql function returning set is
called within another function's exception handler.
- Add support for doing FULL JOIN ON FALSE.
This prevents a regression from pre-8.4 releases for some queries
that can now be simplified to a constant-false join condition.
- Improve constraint exclusion processing of boolean-variable cases,
in particular make it possible to exclude a partition that has a
"bool_column = false" constraint.
- Prevent treating an INOUT cast as representing binary compatibility.
- Include column name in the message when warning about inability to
grant or revoke column-level privileges.
This is more useful than before and helps to prevent confusion when
a "REVOKE" generates multiple messages, which formerly appeared to
be duplicates.
- When reading "pg_hba.conf" and related files, do not treat
@something as a file inclusion request if the @ appears inside
quote marks; also, never treat @ by itself as a file inclusion
request.
This prevents erratic behavior if a role or database name starts
with @. If you need to include a file whose path name contains
spaces, you can still do so, but you must write @"/path to/file"
rather than putting the quotes around the whole construct.
- Prevent infinite loop on some platforms if a directory is named as
an inclusion target in "pg_hba.conf" and related files.
- Fix possible infinite loop if SSL_read or SSL_write fails without
setting errno.
This is reportedly possible with some Windows versions of openssl.
- Disallow GSSAPI authentication on local connections, since it
requires a hostname to function correctly.
- Protect ecpg against applications freeing strings unexpectedly.
- Make ecpg report the proper SQLSTATE if the connection disappears.
- Fix translation of cell contents in psql d output.
- Fix psql's numericlocale option to not format strings it shouldn't
in latex and troff output formats.
- Fix a small per-query memory leak in psql.
- Make psql return the correct exit status (3) when ON_ERROR_STOP and
--single-transaction are both specified and an error occurs during
the implied "COMMIT".
- Fix pg_dump's output of permissions for foreign servers.
- Fix possible crash in parallel pg_restore due to out-of-range
dependency IDs.
- Fix plpgsql failure in one case where a composite column is set to
NULL.
- Fix possible failure when calling PL/Perl functions from PL/PerlU
or vice versa.
- Add volatile markings in PL/Python to avoid possible
compiler-specific misbehavior>
- Ensure PL/Tcl initializes the Tcl interpreter.
The only known symptom of this oversight is that the Tcl clock
command misbehaves if using Tcl 8.5 or later.
- Prevent ExecutorEnd from being run on portals created within a
failed transaction or subtransaction.
This is known to cause issues when using "contrib/auto_explain".
- Prevent crash in "contrib/dblink" when too many key columns are
specified to a dblink_build_sql_- function.
- Allow zero-dimensional arrays in "contrib/ltree" operations.
This case was formerly rejected as an error, but it's more
convenient to treat it the same as a zero-element array. In
particular this avoids unnecessary failures when an ltree operation
is applied to the result of ARRAY(SELECT ...) and the sub-select
returns no rows.
- Fix assorted crashes in "contrib/xml2" caused by sloppy memory
management.
* Rebuild against libossp-uuid16. (Closes: #570108, LP: #538284)

read-write NTFS driver for FUSE

New Version: 1:2010.3.6

Old Version: 1:2010.1.16
The ntfs-3g driver is an open source, GPL licensed, third generation Linux NTFS driver which was implemented by the Linux-NTFS project. It provides full read-write access to NTFS, excluding access to encrypted files, writing compressed files, changing file ownership, access right.

Technically it's based on and a major improvement to the third generation Linux NTFS driver, ntfsmount. The improvements includes functionality, quality and performance enhancements.

ntfs-3g is based on FUSE (userspace filesystem framework for Linux), thus you will have to prepare fuse kernel module to be able to use it.

Fuse is available in any recent kernel. No need to prepare a kernel module if you are already running Debian Etch kernel or newer.

A program that can automate interactive applications

New Version: 5.44.1.15

Old Version: 5.44.1.14
Expect is a tool for automating interactive applications according to a script. Following the script, Expect knows what can be expected from a program and what the correct response should be. Expect is also useful for testing these same applications. And by adding Tk, you can also wrap interactive applications in X11 GUIs. An interpreted language provides branching and high-level control structures to direct the dialogue. In addition, the user can take control and interact directly when desired, afterward returning control to the script.
Changelog:
 * New upstream release.
