10 free Linux e-books

2012-02-29T12:55:00.000+01:00

Pingdom has recently posted a list of 10 free Linux e-books, which I am duly reposting. At first I thought that this free e-book thing was a bit suspect, but after having gone to the authors' websites and downloaded I can assure you that it's the real deal.

So now is your chance to increase your knowledge about Linux.

VMware View

2011-12-21T23:17:00.001+01:00

VMware seem to be giving a lot of importance to their View application, and are practically making it universally available after today's announcement of added support for Linux, Mac, and Amazon Kindle.

After watching the video below, I feel inclined to say that it will be more useful to IT administrators/control freaks than to the actual users who in reality do not really need a VMware View client in order to use a variety of applications, since there are several other options elsewhere.

Still, VMware is taking its market share seriously, and that can be a good thing.

22 Seconds Of Mind Control Meme

2011-03-02T08:06:00.001+01:00

(reupload because something messed up :X ) (Frame drops made me improve the video with extra frames and stuff. Here's hoping it works.) (Edit: Yay! It looks like it has! =3 ) Original by Hawkfire44: www.youtube.com I felt kinda cheeky, so I advertised a bunch of stuff that you can't actually 'buy', 'cause it's all open-source. =3 Things advertised: Linux (in general) Ubuntu (Linux distro) Fedora (Linux distro) Paint.net (I use it for all my animating so far, Windows-only for now) OpenOffice.org (I've used it for years and years and it's awesome) aMSN (Alvaro's Messenger, a clone of the original MSN Messenger that works lightyears better than the 'official' MSN client, which sucks terribly, and aMSN is OS-independent, it works on almost all of them) Firefox (If you're not using it, you should be... unless you've got a mac, Safari's alright, but Firefox is best =3 ) FreeBSD (I haven't actually used it, but I did install it once; I couldn't figure it out D: ) Open Source (Turns out, Open Source as a movement has its own logo, interestingly) Programs Used: Paint.net (www.getpaint.net) Microsoft Windows Movie Maker (not Open-Source, but free if you use Windows :X )
