La Svolta nella legge sulla vivisezione, FINALMENTE!! (:

Sono davvero troppo commossa per scrivere più di qualche parola, ma la giornata di ieri è da segnare su tutti i calendari e da ricordare nel tempo come una Svolta, il primo grande passo che porterà l'Italia a diventare un paese migliore. Finalmente il percorso verso l'abbandono della sperimentazione animale e della vivisezione è stato avviato. Grazie a tutti coloro che hanno contribuito a questo successo.
Per tutti coloro che desiderassero adottare un cane, tenete d'occhio la situazione dell' "allevamento" di Green Hill, perchè appena verrà chiuso ci saranno moltissimi beagles che avranno bisogno di ricevere tutto l'amore che è stato loro negato da quando sono nati.

"La giornata di oggi rappresenta un passaggio fondamentale ed una grande conquista per l'affermazione di una nuova coscienza di tutela e rispetto degli animali e dei loro diritti. Un salto culturale dal quale in futuro nessuno potrà più prescindere". È quanto afferma il Ministro del Turismo, on. Michela Vittoria Brambilla, presidente del comitato ministeriale per la creazione di un'"Italia Animal Friendly", che oggi ha proposto ed ottenuto l'approvazione delle misure che cambieranno radicalmente lo scenario della sperimentazione animale nel nostro paese.
"È stato approvato in commissione Affari Sociali - continua il Ministro Brambilla - il nostro emendamento alla legge comunitaria 2011, di recepimento della direttiva del 2010, che ci permette di voltar pagina con la sperimentazione animale dopo decenni di orrori. Abbiamo quindi corretto i grandi errori della direttiva europea 63/2010 e abbiamo introdotto in maniera importante e definitiva il principio per cui l'utilizzo degli animali, in quanto esseri senzienti e portatori di diritti, deve essere abbandonato in favore dello sviluppo di metodi alternativi in vitro. Questo principio, solo in parte accolto dalla direttiva europea, diventa centrale nella nostra impostazione. Il testo approvato dalla commissione -spiega l'on. Michela Vittoria Brambilla- prevede infatti misure adeguate per la concreta attuazione del loro sviluppo e la destinazione di congrui finanziamenti allo scopo. Inoltre, in attesa che siano perfezionati metodi alternativi e completamente sostitutivi della sperimentazione su animali, sarà possibile effettuare test su cani, gatti e primati, solo previa autorizzazione del Ministero della Salute e del Consiglio Superiore di sanità. Inoltre, gli animali non potranno essere più utilizzati per esercitazioni didattiche (eccetto l'alta formazione di medici e veterinari) e per esperimenti bellici".
"Infine, ho oggi assolto ad un preciso impegno - continua il Ministro Brambilla - che avevo preso con tanti cittadini, associazioni animaliste e comitati spontanei, che si sono mobilitati contro lo stabilimento Green Hill di Montichiari, dove sono allevati cani di razza beagle destinati ai laboratori. Pochi giorni fa, avevo postato sulla mia pagina personale di facebook e su quella creata dai militanti animalisti, un messaggio di solidarietà con una promessa di aiuto concreto per fermare quello che considero un vero e proprio orrore indegno di un grande paese civile. Sono felice di poter dire oggi che ho mantenuto la mia parola e mi sono fatta interprete delle aspettative dei tanti italiani che non sono più disposti ad accettare che il nostro paese ospiti quella che viene definita una ‘fabbrica di morte’: il nuovo testo vieta quindi su tutto il territorio nazionale l'allevamento di primati, cani e gatti, destinati alla sperimentazione.
Dopo tanti anni di militanza animalista - ho fondato all'età di tredici anni la sezione lecchese della lega contro la vivisezione lombarda - nei quali mi sono battuta senza sosta per cambiare la normativa del ‘92 e dopo il recente ulteriore impegno che avevo assunto per correggere gli errori della direttiva europea 2010, che non protegge affatto gli animali e i loro diritti, considero un grandissimo successo l'approvazione oggi di queste misure che rappresentano una vera e propria svolta, della quale vado molto fiera".
I membri del comitato ministeriale per la creazione di un Italia Animal Friendly del ministro Brambilla, che hanno quindi avuto tutti parte nell'approvazione di questa misura, sono i deputati Basilio Catanoso, Fiorella Ceccacci, Paola Frassinetti, Gabriella Giammanco, Gianni Mancuso, Barbara Mannucci, Manuela Repetti, Michele Scandroglio. Del comitato fanno parte anche i rappresentanti delle associazioni nazionali di tutela ambientale e animale, oltre a quelli di Anci, Upi e delle Regioni.

First Lipstick on the Mug's recipe!

I love cupcakes, not just eating them but also MAKING them! So here's what I think is a great recipe (a mix between my own and one I found browsing - it's Martha Stewart's!).

Base:

Ingredients

225 g butter

225 g caster sugar

4 medium eggs

225 g self raising flour

1/2 tbsp of vanilla extract

Directions

Put the caster sugar, chopped up butter and vanilla into a food processor. Then add the sieved flour. Mix together for about 1 minute until all the ingredients are combines. Then add the eggs one at a time and slowly mix until soft and creamy. Cokk the cupcakes for about 20 minutes at 180°.

Frosting:

Ingredients

4 large egg whites

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into tablespoons

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups (12 ounces) strawberry jam, pureed in a food processor

Directions

In the heatproof bowl of an electric mixer set over a saucepan of simmering water, combine egg whites and sugar. Cook, whisking constantly, until sugar has dissolved and mixture is warm to the touch (about 160 degrees).

Attach the bowl to the mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Beat the egg-white mixture on high speed until it holds stiff (but not dry) peaks. Continue beating until the mixture is fluffy and cooled, about 6 minutes.

Switch to the paddle attachment. With mixer on medium-low speed, add butter several tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition. (If frosting appears to separate after all the butter has been added, beat on medium-high speed until smooth again, 3 to 5 minutes more.) Beat in vanilla. Beat on lowest speed to eliminate any air bubbles, about 2 minutes. Stir in strawberry jam with a rubber spatula until frosting is smooth.

After Cavalli, Jimmy Choo and Lanvin, the new capsule collection will be inspired by the Maison's iconic pieces and will be distinguished by prints and vibrant colors. And now, what you all crave to know (: The line Versace for H&M will be lauched November 17th, so get ready to queue! The collection will consist of 40 womenswear garments and 20 menswear garments plus accessories and will be distributed in 300 selected stores around the world. Gnarled branches intertwine with uncut stones, necklaces encounter bees and hives and everyday objects meet preciousness. The main materials are sterling silver, stones, natural wood and fibers, molded together to create something totally new. There's not even the slightest trace of banality in these jewels: they are made to be enjoyed.

Come l'artista stessa dichiara, tutte le creazioni RedSofa sono "ispirate dalla natura e dalla natura umana", e basta un colpo d'occhio per capire cosa intende. Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012 Paris

Recently it's quite easy to hear that runways have gone out of fashion (ironic, isn't it?). But the catwalk-formula is actually getting old and Marc Jacobs seems to agree. The fairy-tale setting of the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012 fashion show is innovative and definitely dreamy. The choice of white as the predominant color was a success and the carousel, the macramé lace, the feathers and Swarovski applications were simply marvelous. Chapeau.

Negli ultimi tempi si sente dire che le sfilate sono passate di moda (ironico no?). Effettivamente però la formula-passerella sta diventando vecchia, e Marc Jacobs sembra volerlo confermare. Un'ambientazione quasi fiabesca quella che ha presentato la collezione Louis Vuitton RTW p/e 2012, che fa sicuramente sognare. Meravigliosa la scelta del bianco come colore predominante, incantevole la giostra di luci, i pizzi macramé, le piume, le applicazioni di Swarovski. Chapeau.

Alexander McQueen RTW Spring/Summer 2012

A (much) deserved praised to Sarah Burton, who - in my opinion - was capable to perfectly revive the spirit of Alexander McQueen in the Spring/Summer collection 2012. Some say she should give a more personal touch to the brand and be less reverential. Personally, I'm too tied to the theatricality of the Maison (which Burton says her creations does not reflect, perhaps out of modesty) and to the absolute perfection of every single dress appeared on the runway. From sheath dresses that sculpt the silhouette and enhance the wasp waist to vaporous baby dolls to gowns, everything was just fabulous, breath-taking:

Un elogio (meritatissimo) a Sarah Burton, che ha saputo - a mio parere - far rivivere alla perfezione lo spirito di Alexander McQueen nella collezione Primavera/Estate 2012. C'è chi dice che dovrebbe dare un'impronta più personale al brand ed essere meno reverenziale. Personalmente, sono troppo legata alla teatralità del brand (che Burton dice invece di non rispecchiare, forse per modestia?) e all'assoluto perfezionismo di ogni abito salito sulla passerella. Dai tubini che scolpiscono la silouette e esaltano il vitino da vespa ai baby dolls vaporosi agli abiti lunghi, tutto era semplicemente favoloso, da togliere il respiro.

Un'ignoranza tutta Italiana

We all make mistakes, there's no need to argue, but misinformation transcends excusable fault. It's not about distraction, carelessness or misspelling: it's simply not permissible for a journalist. And it is just too much, particularly to me and I dare not imagine to which degree to the person concerned. I strongly hope one day the fashion world will comprise in its vocabulary the concept of respect for animal life, but until that moment comes, I look to Stella McCartney in absolute awe. She is innovative, capable of conveying a timeless form of elegance. She's even the daughter of one of my beloved Beatles (!) and a staunch animal rights activist. Without exaggeration, she's everything I aspire to be. So I think you will understand my dismay when, leafing through the latest issue of Interior (a supplement to Panorama, a well known Italian magazine), my attention was drawn by a caption referring to one of the masterpieces of the Maison: the Falabella bag. The caption reads: "Bottom left, accessories by Stella McCartney: shoes with bright colors and jewelry details and bags in soft leather with metal strap." A true modern heresy by Rosa Tessa and - not to forget - all the staff headed by Gilda Bojardi, who failed to do their revision. To add insult to injury, the author had the bad taste to mention the British designer in an article also referring to fur as the "highlight of the season," even comparing it to "jewellery". Utterly unacceptable.

A tutti capita di fare errori, non si discute, ma la cattiva informazione non rientra nella gamma. Non è distrazione, non è sbadataggine, non è un errore di ortografia. Non è ammissibile per un giornalista. E questo è davvero troppo, in modo particolare per me e non oso nemmeno immaginare in che misura per la diretta interessata. Io che spero fortemente che un giorno la Moda possa inserire nel proprio vocabolario il concetto di rispetto nei confronti della vita degli animali, guardo a Stella McCartney con infinita ammirazione. Innovativa, capace di connotare un'eleganza senza tempo, persino figlia di uno dei miei amati Beatles e convinta animalista. Senza esagerare, lei è tutto ciò a cui punto. Potrete allora capire l'orrore provato quando, sfogliando l'ultimo numero di Interni, allegato a Panorama, l'occhio mi è caduto su una didascalia relativa ad uno dei capolavori della Maison: la borsa Falabella. Tale didascalia riporta: "In basso da sinistra, accessori di Stella McCartney: scarpe con colori accesi e dettagli bijoux e borse in morbida pelle con tracolla in metallo". Una vera eresia moderna, merito di Rosa Tessa e - se vogliamo - di tutto lo staff capitanato da Gilda Bojardi, che non ha saputo fare il proprio lavoro di revisione. Come ciliegina sulla torta, il cattivo gusto di citare la stilista britannica in un articolo che si riferisce alle pellicce come il "pezzo forte della stagione", paragonate addirittura a dei "bijoux". Assolutamente inammissibile.

Stella McCartney RTW Spring 2012

As you already know, Stella McCartney has been appointed as the official designer for the London 2012 Olympic Games (British teams wise). Her runway was literally filled with health and radiance. Models were tanned and glowing while clothes showcased a sporty elegance. The looks as a whole were fresh and leisury, a pleasure to look at. The main motifs were swirling embroidery, fine prints and Stella's unmistakable menswear cut.

Come saprete già, Stella McCartney è stata eletta come stilista ufficiale dei Giochi Olimpici di Londra 2012 per quanto concerne i teams britannici. La sfilata è stata, se possibile prima ancora che dai capi d'abbigliamento, caratterizzata dall'aspetto luminoso e "in salute" delle modelle. Abbronzate e radianti, portavano sorridenti dei meravigliosi abiti e completi di un'eleganza dal taglio sportivo. I looks nell'insieme sono stati freschi, ad accennare un'immagine da tempo libero. I temi predominanti sono stati i ricami svolazzanti, delle stampe lievi e raffinate e l'inconfondibile impronta maschile della stilista.

This post might be the first of many because I think everyone has the right to own plenty of clothes in their wardrobe to choose from, but I also think that it shouldn't cost a fortune. Plus, I believe elegance does not depend on how expensive a person's clothes are. So, here I am having fun with skirts, shirts, pants and accessories from the most inexpensive brands to create some lovely low-cost outfits.

Questo post potrebbe essere il primo di molti perchè penso che ognuno dovrebbe avere nel proprio guardaroba moltissimi vestiti tra cui scegliere, ma penso anche che questo non dovrebbe costare un fortuna. This decision was extremely hard to make because I saw tons of beautiful dresses, but in the end I opted for this Fendi one. I have to say I love everything about it, especially the embroidery.

Scegliere un solo capo per questa categoria è stato estremamente difficile perchè ho visto moltissimi vestiti che meritavano di essere citati, ma alla fine ho optato per questo, di Fendi. Devo dire che mi piace tutto dell'abito, in particolar modo il ricamo.

As you probably know, I'm always looking for interesting websites (even though I rarely buy anything) largely because I'm interested in knowing which are the "new-in" brands.. So here I am with a new one! It's called shopbop.com and really has a huge selection. Plus, they've got an earth-friendly section which, in spite of its small size, I'm still happy about, as it may mean we are headed in the right direction (: [or a I too optimistic?]
Oh, I almost forgot! They also sell clothes directly from the runway! Isn't that great?

Come forse saprete, sono sempre alla ricerca di siti interessanti (anche se raramente poi faccio acquisti) principalmente perché mi interessa sapere quali sono i "nuovi arrivi" in materia di designers.. Quindi ecco l'ultimo risultato della mia curiosità: shopbop.com. E' un sito con una selezione incredibilmente ampia e con una sezione dedicata a vestiti e accessori "earth-friendly". Nonostante questa sia piuttosto piccola, sono ugualmente felice perché potrebbe significare che ci stiamo muovendo nella giusta direzione (: [o sono troppo ottimista?]
Oh, quasi dimenticavo! Il sito vende anche capi direttamente dalle sfilate! Non è fantastico?

Women are always talking about the current season's it bags, but I realized that lately cuffs have been gaining predominance both on runways and in urban fashion. So it seemed a natural outcome to make a list of the ones I think would deserve the title of (animal-friendly) "it cuffs".

The 21st and 22nd of September were extraordinary, fashion wise. Some of my favorite designers' fashion shows took place and I have to say I was absolutely amazed! So here follows my personal 'best of'. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Il 21 e il 22 settembre sono state giornate fantastiche per la moda. Si sono svolte le sfilate di alcuni dei miei stilisti preferiti e devo dire che tutto ciò che ho visto è stato meraviglioso! Ecco quindi il mio personale 'best of'.

Let's start with D&G. Starting from next season, will be merged into the Dolce&Gabbana trademark as part of a new strategy that contemplates a single large brand providing many different styles and clothing lines. The company will shortly provide further details about this decision. As for the runway, the foulard becomes a protagonist thanks to its versatility and is adapted both to clothes and accessories. In the first photo it is featured as a voluptuary and colorful dress, whereas in the second it becomes the perfect complement to the wedge.

Iniziamo con D&G. A partire dalla prossima stagione, il marchio sarò inglobato da Dolce&Gabbana come parte di un nuovo progetto che prevede un solo, grande brand che si occuperà di proporre tutte le diverse linee stilistiche. A breve l'azienda fornirà maggiori informazioni. Per quanto riguarda la sfilata, la prossima p/e il foulard diventa il protagonista assoluto grazie alla versatilità ed ai colori vivaci, e viene riproposto in mille varianti, sia negli abiti che negli accessori. Nella prima foto viene raffigurato con un colorato e sensuale abito mentre nella seconda diventa il perfetto complemento di un sandalo.

Pants instead are printed and full of volume, while jackets have a new cut and accessories are minimal, lest to interfere with the statement clothes. Finally, sandals are flat!(:

Sulla passerella di Gucci i colori della prossima stagione sono il bianco, il nero e l'oro, declinati in mille sfaccettature e intrecciati in abiti corti il cui must è la luminosità. I pantaloni invece sono ampi e stampati, le giacche hanno nuovi tagli e gli accessori sono minimal, per non interferire con gli abiti importanti. Infine i sandali sono bassi! (:

Last but not least, John Richmond with their rock (but sophisticated) girl! I have to say I love this style, if it was for me I would always be dressed like this. The combination of neutral and fluo colors is really beautiful and the transparencies of the total white and total black looks are just to die for!

Ultimo, ma non per importanza, la donna di John Richmond è rock (ma sofisticata)! Devo dire che amo il suo stile, fosse per me mi vestirei sempre così. L'abbinamento di colori neutri e fluo è davvero bellissima e le trasparenze dei look total white e total black sono semplicemente stepitose!
