I was just taking a look at the Folding @home stats.. wow the PS3 is some piece of machinery...

PS3's around the world are generating 1366 terraflops of computing power right now... amazing. I hope all of that electricity is going to good use to cure illnesses.

XBOX Media Center (XBMC) headed for PS3

An extremely interesting post was put up on the XBMC forums earlier this week. Two developers from XBMC have set out to port XBMC to linux!

Their plan is to port XBMC to run on 2 other hardware platforms. Some of the platforms mentioned include PS3, Apple TV, or a Mac Mini.

This is really exciting, and they've even got it working already in Ubuntu Feisty. (You can check out a copy of the code from the XBMC SVN)

You can install Fedora on the Playstation 3 using the code found here:

Within Linux you have full access to USB (DVD-burner, printer) and Blu-ray drive and also access to Ethernet-, Bluetooth-, WLAN- and Audio-interfaces.

Toys R Us Preorder Problems

Toys R Us is having a big problem with PS3 preorders. Turns out they sent the stores the wrong units. So people who have preordered a PS3 with a larger hard drive might not get the right one. So much for their guarantee...

PS3 on Pre-Order - Does the PS3 run Linux?

I have my PS3 on preorder . I hope I will have one on launch day. It looks like these things are going to be hard to come by before the holidays. There are rumors that the PS3 runs linux. I hope this is true!

Check back once the Sony Playstation 3 launches in November, as we start to piece together all the info you need on getting Linux to run on the PS3.
