This weekend, Friday November 13th through Sunday, November 15th, the Northeast Minneapolis Minneapolis Artists Association (NEMAA) will be showcasing over 150 local artists at its annual Fall Arts Show in the Grainbelt Bottling House.

The show will be juried and if you arrive before 8pm, you will get to vote for the People’s Choice Award.  Of course, I’m exhibiting one of my favorites – “The Road Less Travelled” produced in a stunning 30″x40″ size on canvas.  And, it’s for sale!

I have once again been invited to participate in the Plymouth Neighborhood Foundation’s “Stop Homelessness” Art Show at the Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art.  The show will be held on October 30-31st with an opening night party on Saturday, October 30th from 4pm-9pm.

Opening Night will feature live music, food and wine.  Admission is $25 at the door, $20 in advance.  The sale will continue through Saturday, October 31st from 11am-3pm with free admission.

I was at this show last year and I can’t tell you how exciting it was to see the art fly off the walls.  This is a straight out purchase show and not a silent auction where you can see all of the art featured until the end.  Do yourself a favor and purchase a ticket.  All art is donated at 50% or more of the price going back to the organization.  Their phone number is 612-871-0890.

I travel extensively. As a singer with the early music group, The Rose Ensemble, I have been afforded trips that make my husband extremely jealous.

One of the more remarkable places for vivid stained glass that I’ve encountered is actually right here in St. Paul. The church is St. Paul’s on the Hill – a 150 year old Episcopal church that serves as outreach to the Hispanic Hispanic and Hmong communities in addition to its small devoted congregation and choir.

It is in this space that we have held rehearsals over the past couple of year. During this time I was able to capture some of the stained glass that is behind the alter area. I have taken a complete contemporary vision to these photographs blending in some computer enhancements by ways of special effects. The colors are the true colors of the glass you would see if you visited the church today.

Well, I didn’t get chosen for the State Fair, but this work will be displayed through Labor Day at The Hopkins Center for the Arts at their Salon 300 Show.  The opening reception is Saturday, August 22nd from 6-8pm.  Hopkins Center for the Arts is located on Main Street between 10th & 11th in Hopkins, Minnesota.

After this moring’s rehearsal, I drove over to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and turned in my submission for this year’s Fine Arts division. Now I get to wait for the decision of the judges to see if my piece will be accepted. What do you think?

Photograph was taken this past winter at about 11pm after an evening rehearsal. Temp was about 20 degrees farenheit and was our first cold night of the year. I developed this as a negative which gave it this cool blue effect – the actual piece is then printed on metallic paper which I think best represents the building’s architecture.
