For this tutorial I used fake suede, knitted back fur fabric with a stretch. You can use felt too, its easier to handle and mold. You can also use felt as a fur trim if you have not got the real thing.

The pattern is suitable for the doll foot: 6.5 cm long and 2.5 cm wide.

The ruler scale is given on the pattern 10cm. Print or copy off screen accordingly.

You can try to shrink the pattern to fit other doll feet.

Medieval BJD doll diorama. Getting there.

Well, my insufferable medieval diorama is almost there, though still need to fill it in with furniture and props. Obviously, I had to do a trial run with a couple of my BJDs from the Souldoll (Fairy story Paw (52 cm tall and Yeon Bee (42cm tall).

The base for the diorama walls is foam board, I have glued every single cardboard "stone" on the walls for texture. The fireplace is made from layers and layers of card board. The fireplace "insert" actually are gravel from my yard.

The diorama is "mobile" and walls can be swapped.

Patterns for the windows were harvested from my gothic/medieval chair tutorial (just used the back part of the chair).

The spinning wheel was a complete bargain from the eBay (originally was a room thermometer!)

The brass miniatures were bought for £1 from a car boot.

How to make medieval Gothic chair or throne for MSD BJD doll

I was mulling over the idea of medieval/gothic furniture for my BJD dolls. I like the style but could not find anything to my taste to buy, thus I have decided to make it with a 5mm foam board.

I have never worked with the wood before (apart from Balsa wood), but I have made miniature furniture with the foam board in the past and rather successfully. The reason why I could not use the Balsa wood for this project is that I could not find the right width and length to fit the extended back for the medieval chair.

Anyways, the original template was taken from a human version of the chair and here is a link to it: http://www.greydragon.org/furniture/chairs/

And my adjusted/adapted to BJD template can be seen below. Please note it is not to scale and you have to build the pattern yourself using the measurements I gave on the picture or you can resize on the PC the original template and make the necessary adjustments.

My template is for 40-45cm tall BJD doll (MSD, 1/4 scale)

My latest arrival from Resinsoul Lu - MSD size ball jointed doll. She was a special order, i.e. human ears instead of huge ears as in its original sculpt. I have paid only $10 extra for swapping the ears. Also Resinsoul was able to fulfill my custom face up for extra $25.

Lu's head is smaller than other MSD size heads. She is really unique sculpt and I am very happy the way she turned out. If you are interested to see her box opening and quick comparison with the other MSD resinsoul please watch this video:

I have ordered Lu in single jointed body. On her arrival I have hot glue sueded her, re-strung and "wired". She poses now better than my other double jointed bodies.

Lately I am enjoying making my own wigs for my BJDs dolls. At least I can style them to my liking.

Here she represents Goddess Tara - Goddess of Slav-Aryan race, she protects nature, forests and fields. She is the youngest daughter of Perun and sister of Tarkh God (Dazhdbog).

Just sharing with you my latest project. Well, basically, I have bought an MSD size head (Lazuli) from the Etsy seller (artist I presume). The head supposed to be in normal skin, though it was a bit yellow, so I had to order a body from Mirodoll in yellow. The reason I went with Mirodoll is in case the colour would not match, so I would not lose sleep over it. I do not know why but I've had decided to get a "new" MSD Mirodoll body. To cut the story shot - the body is horrible, the articulation is worse than the old body, the elbow joints are just BALLS. The finish is rough. I had to re-string it straight away; also removed the hands and replaced them. The body got resin bubbles and discoloration. I must say that this is the worse of the quality I have ever came across. I will make a comparison of 2 Mirodoll MSD bodies at some point and you will see what I mean about the articulation. Anyhow, here is my new lady. I like the sculpt, really unusual and could be made into mature male as well. Excuse the face up, I can't stand blank faces, thus this face up was 5 min job. Doing face ups are not my cup of tea in this hobby...

Hi folks,

I was waiting for that man for 6 months (instead of 3) and he is here today - Rail (Vito range) from Souldoll.

Here is his box opening video.

I have noticed that the wig and assembly manual were not included. So, I will contact the responsible party. Seams line have killed me. I did not expect that as there was no option like "sanding service" offered, so I have assumed that seams would be removed by default...

Otherwise, happy days!

P.S. I have ordered this doll via the UK dealer angelesque. I would NOT use her service again and in future will order directly from the company or via other dealers like Alice's collection who offered excellent customer service to me before. My experience with angelesque was not very good in one of my previous orders as well. I do not want to go deep into details, but I would rate Angelesque customer service as "NIL".

This is an easy project for beginners in polymer clay. All you need is clay in 4 colours (brown, vanilla, green and red), square cutter (2cm) or just a square paper pattern, blade, texture sheet (if not, then do it manually with a dotting tool), liquid clay, rolling pin or pasta machine.

I have used fimo soft and premo sculpey. Liquid clay was Fimo gel.

Gloss with any polyurethane varnish.

How to make 3 tier cupcake stand for your doll.

Nice as a photography prop.

For this project you will need:

-cardboard

-bamboo skewer

-scissors

-carving tool or thick needle

-tacky glue (for the cardboard) and all purpose glue (or E-6000 instead of all purpose one for the beads). Do not use hot glue as it does not "soak" the cardboard well enough to keep the bond strong for long.

I am spending my hols at home making miniatures for BJDs from polymer clay. It was long since I have touched my favourite modelling media and I've even missed dried fingers and achy hands after kneading the clay. I am happy, I am content when I am "claying":)

Cupcakes are about 2 cm tall depending on the design. I will eventually list these on etsy...

I have purchased Sui a while ago, but I simply did not have time to do anything with him. Once I was even considering to sell him, but luckily I have decided against it and I took my time with my gorgeous fantasy dragon man. He is a stunning fella really, his sculpt is so different, but I think his features do not transfer well to the camera. I have blushed his whole body (very subtle brushing) and made an outfit, so at least he does not stand naked ( :P ::)) in front of my other dolls. I have paired him with ResinSoul Rong for now, but he is waiting for another (resin) soul mate that will hopefully arrive in a month time. All my adult dolls are paired (couples) and all are heterosexual :D That's just my preference in my little world where I am the GOD lol

Yeah, I do not think they get on very well :) :(

How to make sofa or large chair for a ball jointed doll MSD size?

Easy-peasy!

You will need:

-An empty tub of Celebrations chocolates
-Stretchy fabric in two contrast colours
-Hot glue gun
-Fabric glue (optional), can still use hot glue gun
-Ribbons
-Needle and thread, but with sewing machine the process will be less painful :D
-craft foam
-scrap A4 paper
-sellotape
-4 small plastic lids of the same height (optional)
-acrylic paint (for the sofa legs if using lids)
-wadding or foam or cotton wool

Customised Chicaloca Hujoo BJD MSD doll. Lolita style.

Face up-ed my Chicaloca (Hujoo ABS MSD) girl today, applied very basic make up eyes wise, as eyes are already exaggerated, but made accent on the lips (hello lip liner, hello 80-s). Blushed her hands and nails (her hands are not very pretty). I am pleased that this horrific parabox wig that no my other BJD can wear (as they look absolutely ridiculous) fits perfectly and suit Chicaloca.

Chicaloca has now been sold. I am still in love with her ways but she does not fit into my collection.

I have recycled a big stash of cardboard and crafted MSD size furniture and sculpted accessories for the table. The project has not been totally completed yet, as I got very busy with my new ragdoll kitten.

Souldoll Lester is a tall MSD doll (52 cm tall), but I think this furniture is still ok for him.

I think my next step is to recycle wooden play blocks I have purchased from charity shop.

These adorable BJD pets (4.5 cm tall) are simply amazing. Kitten pose-ability is outstanding and magnetic face plates are so easy to change. Iplehouse puppy is slightly more limited in movements, but still offers great pose opportunity for photography. Iplehouse puppy has got a magnetic tale, his "face up" is generic by the company. Both of these BJD pets are full of character and are suitable for 2 scales as pets: YoSD and MSD.

The puppy can stand like this by using his tail, whereas the kitten can do it tail free. Kitten has got excellent pose-ability "skills"!

3D printed BJD doll creature

Here is a short story about the mother of the ~~dragons~~ monster (no, its definitely not the game of thrones ;D)

Anyhow, the creature is a bjd 3D printed doll. I have bought the disassembled kit (in colour red) from the Etsy artist (DollArtbyJulie). The creature is small (~13cm tall), the mother (obitsu) is MSD size doll (42cm tall). The creature was very easy to paint, but it was difficult to erase mistakes off. I have tried to erase it with a pure acetone and got white marks, so I had to paint these marks with red acrylics ;D The magic eraser does not work very well on the doll.

One of my highly desired dolls arrived today - Obitsu MSD size 42 cm tall. She was ordered directly from Japan (Parabox) and even with the custom charges (£27) she was much cheaper than ordering from the dealers.

I am an owner of five 1/6 scale obitsu dolls and was very curious whether the bigger version will offer the same posability.

I have ordered 2 heads for this doll and both of them were so easy to attach. I did not need to heat or boil the heads in order to fit them.

The first impression is positive, especially the magnetic plate (same as for smaller obitsu) gives a doll instant stability, however does not allow a one leg stand pose, like in 1/6 scale. The MSD size obitsu is too heavy for this trick.

I thought a brief comparison between resin BJD and Obitsu would be interesting.

Important thing for me that Obitsu can act as a support for other dolls when I need to pose them together! This is a helpful feature I will be definitely using during photo-shoots.

These two are very different dolls, but I am very pleased to have Obitsu of that size now. I need to find a suitable masculine male candidate for my new arrival... Any suggestions welcome.

Handmade medieval outfit for BJD MSD doll Ya (Resinsoul) and Lester (Souldoll)

I have started making these outfits in the beginning of November for a sewing challenge. Then I was sucked up into making the throne for the scene as well. The models are MSD: Lester (Souldoll) and Ya (Resinsoul).
Ya costume is made of white cotton under-dress, jersey fabric overdress and various ribbons. Necklace is handmade from random findings with added plastic rhinestone. The dress has got a small train, but I do not think you can see it.
Lester's outfit consists of: suede effect tunic, handmade buckles (wire was very thick, thus buckles are slightly "wonky"); there is a knife on his left arm fixed with a "leather brace". I've made the knife from air dry clay. Also faux fur was used to add some features to the shoulder and to the right arm brace. Trousers were made from jersey fabric (my old t-shirt). His claw necklace was made from an old earring.
The throne was also handmade and is a separate story :)

Talking about stories - there is a story behind the pictures, but I think I will not disclose it as yet.

Well, I believe that there is nothing wrong with making a doll realistic. I have always wanted one of these dolls with detachable penises, but usually these dolls do not fit my preferred BJD scale or I just simply do not like their bodies/faces, so I have decided to sculpt a penis ...or two for my MSD and YoSD male dolls.

It was not overly complicated, I've just used ~~my partner as a life model~~ a picture from internet to give me some solid anatomical ideas. I have used polymer clay (FIMO doll). Then I have just added a bit of black wool roving for pubic hair.

So, here is Souldoll Vito Lester in his naked glory. I have attached his new part via a blob of white tack. The colour of the penis is slightly different, but I know that this part of the body usually is darker in comparison to the rest of the body.

And here are two little willies for comparison (the bigger one is obviously for MSD). My partner was adamant that both of them are too big for the scale. Yeah... right.

I was made aware that in one of my video's where I was painting my Hujoo cat Freya BJD doll I've missed out a section about the blushing. So, to remedy the situation I have created another video for the actual body blushing for one of my hujoo 1/8 dolls (made from ABS plastic). The rabbit is tiny and it was not easy to blush it.

Anyhow!

This is my way of face and body blushing for BJDs and obitsu dolls.
As I have mentioned previously, I use Humbrol 48 Matte acrylic spray varnish for priming and setting. I have employed various soft brushes (quality make up brushes are the best (IMHO), also natural fibres brushes pick the pigment better), soft pastels, sanding paper, melamine sponge, watercolour pencils, water and diluted acrylic paint. Also, I sometimes use damp/wet brush and dry sponge, as I believe it gives better control over the depths of the colours. Please note that this is NOT a teaching video but merely a demonstration of how I bring my dolls to live :) Enjoy!

How to make Russian style tiara/crown - Kokoshnik for MSD BJD doll

Here is a video tutorial of how I've made Kokoshnik - a Russian style headpiece (tiara or crown). It is entirely up to you how you will finish the piece. I have just demonstrated the way I wanted it to be. There are different techniques to Kokoshnik, for instance, some human size Kokoshniks are decorated in kanzashi technique (folded ribbon). Just let your creativity roll. Enjoy!

Phew!

After 7 evenings of sewing and crafting here is a Russian national costume for my resinsoul 1/4 doll. The headpiece (kokoshnik) took about 4 evening to complete, the underdress is made from the jersey fabric (old t-shirt) and the sarafan (the top dress) is made from the linen (wedding towel).
