We're only a few weeks away now from this year's Lisnagarvey Youth Society show. This year will see them performing a calvacade of show-stopping numbers in a concert of non-stop fun!

Tickets are £9 and as usual are available from the Island Arts Centre box office - or book groups at 02892509254 - one free ticket for every ten booked!

With the Widow behind us, what's next?

Well, first will be this year's Lisnagarvey Youth Society performance, a concert of Show Stoppers! The dates for that will be 1st & 2nd of September. Details will follow for those interested in taking part shortly.

The Christmas Panto this year is Sleeping Beauty, running from December 3rd to the 11th.

And we are thrilled to announce that next year our Spring Show will be The Sound of Music! The show will be on from 24th to the 28th of April.

We look forward to seeing you at these great events.

Merry Widow update

Rehearsals are now in full swing for the Society’s upcoming annual spring production.

This is an eventful year for us given that it is the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Island Civic Centre and the Island Hall. In 2001 we had the honour and privilege of presenting the very first theatrical performance in this beautiful venue with our production of Oklahoma.

To mark the tenth anniversary the Society, with the support of Lisburn City Council, has chosen Franz Lehar’s ever popular Merry Widow.

Over the years The Merry Widow has been probably the most performed show by most local societies and it is considered by all to be the perfect company/society and audience show with its wonderful Lehar score, comedy, drama (not too serious) and of course its wonderful movement and dance including the energetic Can-Can like show-stopper.

This year our principal cast and chorus includes many who are experiencing the “Widow” for the first time and all have thrown themselves into the spirit of not only the Merry Widow but the traditions of the Society itself.

One has only to look at our cast list to see a preponderance of new faces in principal roles; but lest we forget there is still a fair number of 'old' faces on show and the Society is particularly pleased to welcome that stalwart of the local scene, Fortwilliam’s Michael Blair in the role of the slightly pompous but likeable old rogue Baron Zeta.

So if you haven’t already booked for the show, 12^th – 16^th April at 7.30. Be sure to book soon to avoid disappointment

The Merry Widow approaches!

The company's spring show this year is Franz Lehár's classic comedy operetta The Merry Widow.

This marks the tenth year we have been treading the boards at the Island Hall in Lisburn!

Performances run from Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th of April, and can be booked via the box office at 02892 509254 or at the Island's Online Booking Site.

This year's Panto - Aladdin!

That time of the year is rolling around again - 'tis the season! Well, not quite, but we may as well try and get you excited about it now!

The dates for the shows this year are from Saturday 4th December to Saturday the 11th. Performances are at 7:30, with matinees on the Saturdays at 2:30.

Tickets are only £9, with one free ticket for every 10 booked, so gather up a crowd and make a night of it!

As usual the venue is the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn. Their booking site can be reached here.

So get your magic carpet vacuumed and get ready for night of singing, dancing and slapstick comedy in old Peking!

Spring Show Announced

Coming up this April is Lisnagarvey's production of Brigadoon!

This classic Broadway musical was the first big hit for the magical team of Lerner and Loewe. It tells the story of the mysterious Scottish village whose enchanted inhabitants remain invisible to the outside world except for one special day every hundred years. On one such day two American tourists stumble upon the village and their arrival threatens the continuance of the miracle.

Lisnagarvey’s keen and experienced cast give a spirited and imaginative interpretation of this show complete with swinging kilts, bonnie lasses, droning bagpipes and wonderful romantic melodies.

The show runs from Tuesday 20th April - Saturday 24th April.

Tickets are: Tues £10, Wed & Thurs £12, Fri & Sat £14 - One free ticket for every ten booked.

This year's festive show is Dick Whittington and his Cat! Performances run from 5th December to the 12th in the Lisburn Island Arts Centre and tickets are £9, although you can get one free ticket for every ten booked. There are also matinee performances on the Saturdays. Make sure you book early to be sure of getting tickets for this always popular event!
