So… if you’re not a mom and you’re side-eyeing all this “mom” stuff, we wanted to share the reactions from some non-mom friends of NYC cast member Laura Clark:

“It was great! I mean, I would come again next year even if you weren’t in it!”

“I LOVED coming. I did so out of loyalty to you, but enjoyed myself so much that I plan to do it annually. The stories were all so different and all so good.”

And from a male friend (not prone to displays of emotion!) : “I was expecting just some anecdotal tales of motherhood that I wouldn’t relate to. But I really enjoyed it and was moved in unexpected ways. Very impressive. Thanks for letting us know about that.”

Listen To Your Mother is for everyone! Even you. Especially you.

NEXT UP: LTYM: Denver is TONIGHT and then on Thursday we have  Austin,  NW Indiana, Twin Cities, and Raleigh-Durham‘s second show! Our opening weekend was phenomenal! Congratulations go to Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Nashville, Northern Utah, and The OC  on their smashing success!

First8Shows1

From LTYM: Northern Utah cast member Sue Samson Peterson:

We came together,
On an empty stage,
Mustered our courage,
And turned a page.

Mother by mother,
We subdued the mic,
And told of nurturing –
The hits and strikes.

The audience laughed,
And shed some tears.
We addressed their hopes,
And hidden fears.

But as we gave,
We gathered too;
Became much more,
Than we ever knew.

Thank you, ladies,
You’ve enriched my soul,
Pieced me together,
And made me whole.

Next up! We’ve got TEN Listen To Your Mother shows across the country this weekend: Charleston, Chicago, DC, Kansas City, Metro Detroit, NYC, Oklahoma City, Plumas County, San Francisco, and Southeast Texas

The Dance Of A Mother

April 29, 2014

“Motherhood in many respects is like dancing. Someone’s constantly crowding your personal space, a lot of toes get stepped on, and everyone thinks they’re the one who’s supposed to be leading.” It’s so true and easy to miss-  the long and many moments in the days of motherhood are a lot like a dance if you stop to think about it. This mom says it all so very well . “The days when three steps forward lead to two steps back, and then four steps to the side where you plant your foot on a stray Lego.” It’s TIME! Listen To Your Mother shows have begun. Get tickets for an LTYM show near you. Can’t wait? Listen to more stories giving motherhood a microphone at the Listen To Your Mother show YouTube channel.

April 25, 2014

IT’S HAPPENING!!   IT’S TIME!     A team of more than 80 women across the country have worked for months and months (and months) in anticipation of this moment. As I described it last year– LTYM stands on the shoulders of giants. Without these bold, brave, generous visionaries, LTYM would be one little show in Madison, Wisconsin. Because of these women, the creative and organizational force behind each and every local LTYM show…   and these women…   These are just a few of our faces, the faces bringing you LTYM 2014…   Thousands of people around the country have shared their stories with Listen To Your Mother, and hundreds of them are about to step up to our podiums .   The best part? Now we get to share the stories with you!! In 2014 LTYM is giving Motherhood a Microphone from coast to coast, in 32 cities with shows from […]

Join Us As We #FindNewRoads with Chevrolet Road Trips to LTYM Shows!

April 24, 2014

Listen to Your Mother shows are built on the kind of teamwork that makes dreams come true. Our producers and directors form city teams to support each other in the adventure of crafting a show, and these teams support each other and their casts while being mentored by LTYM’s national team. It’s beautiful and powerful to watch the journey from launch to curtain, especially since most of the women in our community are taking on challenges that are brand new to them. The result this year is our amazing 32-show season which is opening this weekend! From early on in our expansion it’s been our tradition for team members to visit other shows when they can. Even in our busiest pre-show time, it’s thrilling to see other shows open and to cheer our community on from coast to coast. This week we touted our EPIC Chevrolet National Sponsorship announcement, but what I have […]
