Painting a Helldrake x2

2013-01-16T21:35:00.001-05:00

Let me start off by saying I know I am not a great painter. There are tons of great painters out there and I am thankful for the fact that they produce great tutorials that are helping me to get better. I'll include a couple at the end of this post.

Game Theory 101

Game theory…

More specifically Non-Cooperative Game Theory…

Ohh woe is me.. ha!

2012-11-24T20:50:00.001-05:00

I am in the process of trying to make the blog readable again. Apparently the template I was using before was deleted at the source. This current one isn't fancy but it will do for now. Thank you for your patience.

Feast of Blades Army List - What to do what to do?!

2012-10-15T17:57:00.001-04:00

I am torn between several list. I have had really good success with my all jump BA/SW combo posted below but I think some hot rolling on my part may have contributed to the 'size' of the win I had. I also learned how dangerous it is for a single Assault Troop member to charge an inquisitor henchman squad with three melta guns! Oops.

Michael Graves KickStarter Project

2012-10-09T20:26:00.001-04:00

Hey folks. I take the fact that you are following me here because you care about 40k and not my personal flights of fancy. Because of that I will only rarely post things that are not in direct reference to 40k or how to get better at 40k.

Blood Angel Army 2k - One step closer to the BA travel list

2012-09-19T19:46:00.003-04:00

I basically make two or three lists a week that I consider packing on a plane and taking across the country. This is one that I have been somewhat excited about and am looking forward to testing next week.

Desparate to find a list that can fit on a plane

2012-09-11T00:00:00.000-04:00

I struggle with finding lists that are both portable and competitive enough to win national tournaments. I really enjoy playing different armies so most of the time this isn't a real issue. I am sort of 'over' playing grey knights so I am floating back and forth between Blood Angels and Imperial Guard.

Necron Night Scythes and their gooey inside bits

There seems to be a common consensus when a Night Scythe is destroyed that the embarked passengers don't take Crash and Burn rules.

Magnets.. how do they work?? 6th Edition Wound Allocation

2012-07-06T19:46:00.001-04:00

My club mates have been discussing how wound allocation works in 6th edition. A couple of my buddies summed it up very nicely so I thought I would post it here to help get the word out.

First Blood Angels list for 6th Edition Warhammer 40k

2012-07-05T20:19:00.001-04:00

I am still not completely sure how I feel about the new rules. I feel GW is really trying to give people the notion that they are getting 'more' out of their toys by giving every model extra abilities. I have absolutely NO issue with that. My issue is that there seem to be a feel areas of needless complexity and I think we are all tired of Warhammer 40k having complexity.. See what I did there? :)

Adepticon Aftermath

2012-05-02T20:41:00.000-04:00

I am now almost fully recovered from the Adepticon weekend. As always I had a blast and it was great to see some of the people I only get to see a few times a year.

Time for Adepticon!

2012-04-10T19:36:00.000-04:00

It is time for Adepticon again. My team and I are going back for what is hopefully a repeat performance from last year. We won the team tournament and to date no one has gone back to back. Maybe we can be the first!

2012-01-17T20:01:00.001-05:00

Imperial Armor Apoc II is legal in a few tournaments.. Now what?

2012-01-11T22:52:00.001-05:00

A buddy of mine asked me what list I would build for a tournament that allowed these units and below is what I came up with.

WAR Games Con! Do it!!

2012-01-04T21:44:00.001-05:00

WAR Games Con is the most competition friendly tournament currently running in the US. It boasts an impressive 7 game format and uses the battle point system.

This means that rounds are calculated like most RTTs that you're used to but points are accumulated over the course of SEVEN GAMES!!!! This takes a lot of pressure off of each game allowing for a little wiggle room if you are not used to playing in a strange land or maybe had a little too much Adeptus Sauce the night before.

That isn't to say that peak play won't be rewarded by getting to spend the entire tournament on the top tables.

Seriously... this tournament is run by gamers for gamers and is every bit at the top of the heap alongside Adepticon (which I also highly endorse).

No matter where you are in the country it is worth the trip to Austin.

There are tons of events througout the weekend if the 7 game grind isn't for you or if you happen to bomb out on day one. ha!

I'll be competing in the two man team tournament in addition to the singles GT. Who is with me?!

Perfecting the Draigo Beats - 2000 Points.

2011-11-17T18:07:00.003-05:00

After a flury of text messages back and forth between MBG and Goatboy and after a few back and forths over on the Wrecking Crew forums I believe this list is as good as it is going to be. This list dominates any Necron build I have seen so far and will be easy to make up to compete in the meta in your area.

Building a better mouse trap - 2k Draigo Beats

2011-11-15T18:19:00.005-05:00

The list below is 2010 points. I am torn between cutting one of the dreads and sticking with the original Venerable that was in the list over on MBG's blog, taking one of the assault cannons off of the razorbacks and leaving it a heavy bolter or taking the Paladins from being completely complex to 'mostly' complex.
