New local phone number

Most of you use our 800# to contact us (which has stayed the same) so you would probably never notice this change, but for those of you who are local or non-US we have a new local phone number. We have updated our Contact page to show that our new number is 919.675.2988. As always we love hearing from you, so please don't hesitate to give us a call or send a quick email with any questions or suggestions!

Who did that emailed invoice come from?

You! To make sure your customers know that, we now have the "From:" field default to your company name. You can also edit it (on the email invoice screen) and then it will default to your latest entry. How did we do it? Well, if you look at your emails closely, you will see a friendly name like "LiteAccounting" then the actual email address it came from like "<no-reply@liteaccounting.com>" next to it.

So what you're actually changing is the friendly name, the email will still technically be from <no-reply@liteaccounting.com> which helps prevent it getting caught in spam and lets the customers know they can't reply.

Another PDF Adjustment

After our last post, we received more PDF adjustment requests and we listened. We have reduced the size of the item lines so more product/services will fit on a page and they will automatically resize if the extra space is needed. Check out the screen shots below :)

As you can see, if you have one larger item all the lines will resize to match keeping them uniform.

Some Tweaks

As you may know by now, we love to hear from our customers on how we can make LiteAccounting better. We may not be able to do everyone’s requests or sometimes they might just a take awhile to complete, but we are listening :) We have made a few tweaks per requests to the sizing of some areas on the invoice. We have extended the Bill To and Ship To boxes to allow longer Company names and we have also adjusted how the invoice pdf prints. The invoice now fits both letter and A4 paper without any printer adjustments like scaling or fit to page.

Security is Job #1 - SSL for All

While building LiteAccounting we have worked to create the most safe and secure system possible. We take great care to make sure our database and servers are protected and secure, and we have always provided an SSL connection on all of our paid accounts. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a web technology that establishes an encrypted connection between your browser and our web server. It ensures that no-one can read or tamper with the data as it travels across the internet.

During a recent review we decided that security is so important to us that we are going to make SSL available to every account, even the free ones. What that means is that even if you only use the free account you can now be sure that your data is not only safe on our secure servers and databases, but that it is tamper proof as it goes over the wire.

As a business it normally isn't in our interest to give away more features for free, but the idea that someone could read or tamper with any of our customers data was enough to make this an easy decision.

New Feature: Get paid with PayPal!

We have had quite a few request to allow invoices to be paid online with PayPal. We are proud to announce this feature is now available for Bronze, Silver, and Gold Customers!

To setup this feature, it's as easy as this: click Settings when logged on to your account and navigate to the Online Payment tab. Click "Allow customers to pay their invoices online with PayPal" and put in the email address you want to get paid.

That's it! We will add a link to pay with PayPal on the public customer page (also new, see below) for customers to enter their payment. When a customer pays you, we will automatically mark your invoice as paid.

Note: for existing accounts, you will want to edit your existing email template and add "To view and/or pay your invoices online, please visit $customerlink" - or something equivalent so this link is sent to your customer.

This is an example of what the customer will see when they click on the link from your email:

At anytime, if you want to see the public page that the customer views, we have added a "Public Customer Link" in the Customer Center so you can view exactly what your customer will see.

New Feature: Customer Statements

We've had quite a few of our customers ask for a Customer Statement report. We are happy to announce this feature is now available for all Bronze, Silver, and Gold users!

From the Customer Center, you will notice a new link for Customer Statement:

After you select this link, you will be given a screen to select the dates for which you would like to see the report:

Choose your dates, and hit Generate Report to launch your report as a PDF.

New Feature: Search Invoices

We've just added some new ways to filter your invoices. Now there is a search box on the invoice center so you can filter your invoices by typing in an invoice number or customer name.

We have also added a View Invoices link next to your customers' names in the customer center. Clicking this link will take you to the invoice center with a list of all the invoices for that particular customer.

New Feature: Recurring Invoices!

It's finally here, Recurring Invoices!

All of our Bronze, Silver and Gold members can now setup recurring invoices. Just go to the Invoice Center and select the Recurring tab. From here you can create and manage all of your recurring invoices (as many as you want!). As you know, we try to keep things easy but if you need help just click on the help button at the top right of your screen for step-by-step instructions.

Here's a few screenshots to start you off...

In the Invoice Center, you will now see a tab called recurring. This is where you can create a new recurring invoice and view the status of any other ones you have created.

Creating a recurring invoice should seem very familiar. It's simply an invoice with a few changed options - no new screens to learn. :)

Currency Option Now Available!

Showing the currency symbol has been a popular request on LiteAccounting. If you would like to display your currency (such as $150.00) on your invoices, now you can!

All you have to do is go to Settings and under the General Options tab select your currency from the dropdown list.

If you choose USD currency, for example, your invoices will now display as shown below.
