Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, the servant Kai, choosing duty to her family’s estate over love. Since then the world has changed: a new class of Post-Reductionists is jumpstarting the wheel of progress, and Elliot’s estate is foundering, forcing her to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth—an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliot wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she let him go.

But Elliot soon discovers her old friend carries a secret—one that could change their society . . . or bring it to its knees. And again, she’s faced with a choice: cling to what she’s been raised to believe, or cast her lot with the only boy she’s ever loved, even if she’s lost him forever.

Inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion, For Darkness Shows the Stars is a breathtaking romance about opening your mind to the future and your heart to the one person you know can break it.

<t>Why For Darkness Shows the Stars?</t> Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen story and I'm really interested to see the similarities and differences within the story!

<t>So Whats Your Waiting On Wednesday?</t>

Teaser Tuesday: Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh

<t>
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.</t>

If you would like to join in the fun all you have to do is take your current read, turn to a random page and pick out two sentences. The story or the characters?</t>

It's a little bit of both—but I definitely don't begin to really move forward with a story until I know the characters inside and out. It’s their personalities and individual motivations that often define the direction a story takes.
For this book, I did know that I wanted the opening to involve the heroine trapped in a prison and the hero rescuing her—much to my heroine’s displeasure. That’s right, she doesn’t WANT to be rescued. So I had the basic premise. I also knew I wanted the hero to belong to a group of sexy alpha mercenaries and the heroine to be a ruthless assassin, so I had the basic character sketches too.
After that, it was all a matter of brainstorming and creating fun, complex characters, and dark, suspenseful situations.

<t>Why Romantic Suspense?</t>

It’s what I love to write. I’m drawn to stories with an edge or with an element of danger. I enjoy creating emotional situations within all that danger and watching my characters fall in love de-spite all the chaos around them. And it’s also a lot of fun writing outrageous action scenes, be-cause in real life I’m very much a “play-it-safe” kind of gal—no risk taking for me!

<t>Did you do any unique research for Midnight Rescue?</t>

Lots. Everything from combat techniques to geology. If I’m unsure about something, I’ll usually research it—or phone a friend.

<t>Who was the easiest & hardest character for you to create?</t>

I think Abby, my heroine, was the hardest to write. Figuring out her background and how that influenced the decisions she’d ultimately make was difficult. She’s found herself in a position where she desperately wants to rescue others before they wind up in the same horrible situation she did, and this affects the cold, detached front she’s put up all these years. It was also a challenge to find that balance between her being an assassin—someone who can be cold and emotionless—and being a woman falling in love—someone who opens up and lets herself be vulnerable.
Luke was definitely the easiest to write. He’s a secondary character in this book but will be the hero of book two, “Midnight Alias”. His ladies man personality, conflicts and motivations came really naturally for me.

<t>If you could pick any other genre to write what would it be and why?</t>

Hands down, young adult. I fell in love with reading when I was young and some of my favorite books are ones that I read way back then. Stories really stick with you when you’re that age. I also think it’s a really important genre—getting kids excited about books at a young age can play a pivotal role in their lives. Plus, it’s just plain fun.

<t>That's all for Elle Kennedy, Adult readers be sure to pick up Midnight Rescue out now!!!</t>

Abandon-a-Palooza Contest

Welcome to Abandon-a-Palooza by Literary Cravings & The Optimistic Pessimist a Joint Contest!~!

You can win both Abandon finished soft cover and an Advanced Reading Copy (ARC) of Underworld the highly anticipated second book in the series!

   Abandon (Abandon Trilogy #1)

by Meg Cabot

New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. After a bad relationship and an even worse divorce, Carolyn decides to go on a long overdue and much needed vacation with the 'girls'. Only the rest of the vacationers didn't get the memo. Around every corner there seems to be another couple celebrating their honeymoon or anniversary and the few single men she does see are far too young to even consider, including an irresistibly attractive rock violinist she meets. It's really too bad he's so young but in the end it doesn't matter because according to his cousin, Giacinta, women in general aren't Christian's type. But there's a catch, Christian needs Carolyn's help. He needs her to be his beard (to play the part of his fake girlfriend) for the week to appease his 'machismo' family. Carolyn just can't seem to say No and decides to help Gia's cousin. The only problem is that being around Christian and acting like they are a loving couple is wreaking havoc on her emotions. Carolyn's thoughts keep drifting back to places they shouldn't, like kissing his full lips or feeling his broad shoulders under her fingertips... good lord, she's in trouble.

<t>Why Under A Vampire Moon?</t> I really enjoyed the Argeneau series and can't wait to see where Ms. Sands takes it!!

<t>So Whats Your Waiting On Wednesday?</t>

Waiting On Wednesday: Darkness Before Dawn by J. A. London

<t>Publisher</t>: Harper Teen
<t>Being Published</t>: May 29, 2012

This electrifying new trilogy blends the best of paranormal and dystopian storytelling in a world where the war is over. And the vampires won.

Humans huddle in their walled cities, supplying blood in exchange for safety. But not even that is guaranteed. Dawn has lost her entire family and now reluctantly serves as the delegate to Lord Valentine, the most powerful vampire for miles. It isn’t until she meets Victor, Valentine’s son, that she realizes not all vampires are monsters....

Darkness Before Dawn is a fresh new story with captivating characters, unexpected plot twists, a fascinating setting, and a compelling voice. Written under the name J. A. London by a talented mother-son team, the trilogy is perfect for fans of True Blood and the House of Night and Morganville Vampires series.

<t>Why Darkness Before Dawn?</t> I do love a good vampire tale and I am a fan of the Morganville Vampires, House of Night and True Blood series. This sounds like it will be a fun read. Can't wait to sink my teeth into it!

<t>So Whats Your Waiting On Wednesday?</t>

This meme is hosted by Jill from Breaking The Spine

Review: Angel's Flight by Nalini Singh

<t>
Website</t>: Nalini Singh
<t>Series</t>: Guild Hunter 0.5, 1.5, 4.5, 4.75
<t>Publisher</t>: Berkley Sensation
<t>Published</t>: February 28, 2012
<t>Genre</t>: Adult Paranormal Romance
<t>Format</t>: Mass Market Paperback
<t>Pages</t>: 368
<t>Source</t>: Publisher
<t>*received for honest review*</t>

In Angel’s Wolf a vampire becomes fascinated with the seductive angel who rules Louisiana. Although I'm not a fan of anthologies due the short stories I couldn’t pass up Angel's Flight. In the end found that I enjoyed the book.

Angel's Flight comprises of four short stories, Angel's Pawn, Angel's Judgment, Angel's Wolf and Angel's Dance. With each story I got a small intense glimpse of the lives of new and past characters of the Guild Hunter series and I enjoyed reentering their world. In Angel's Pawn I enjoyed getting to know Ashwini and the seductively dangerous Janvier. I felt their story was a bit rushed but still filled with an intriguing story and a passionately beginning romance. I would have loved to read more of their story and felt it was just the beginning to something more. I was happy to read about familiar characters in Angel's Judgment. After reading about Sara and Deacon in past Guild Hunter novels it was great to read about how their story began. Though the story was short it felt more complete to me.

With Angel's Wolf I didn't really connect as I would have liked. This was the story of Guild Hunter Nimra as she navigated the dangerous world of angel's and vampires such as her romantic interest Noel. Though their story did have passion, action and romance it didn't capture me like the others.
The last story Angel’s Dance was my favorite out of them all. I didn't know what to expect with this new story but Galen and Jessamy utterly captivated me. Maybe it was because they are both angels and this was the first story I read in the Guild Hunters series were the focus was two angels falling in love. Jessamy and Galen won me over by their realness and the complexities of their lives. My only problem with Angel's Dance was that it was too short. I wanted more time with these characters and their passionate love story. Overall Angel's Flight was a good anthology, though I liked some stories more than others I felt it was worth the read. Nalini Singh continues to entrance me with her world and characters.

Review: Midnight Enchantment by Anya Bast

<t>
Website</t>: Anya Bast
<t>Series</t>: Dark Magick #4
<t>Publisher</t>: Berkley Sensation
<t>Published</t>: February 7, 2012
<t>Genre</t>: Adult Paranormal Romance
<t>Format</t>: Mass Market Paperback
<t>Pages</t>: 270
<t>Source</t>: Publisher
<t>*received for honest review*</t>

A quest for freedom may be derailed by their intense attraction...

Niall Quinn, mage and the finest thief in the Black Tower, is the fae's best hope for freedom. Only he stands a chance of tracking down and retrieving the missing bosca fadbh pieces from the Summer Queen. She has her own reasons for guarding the two pieces and wanting the walls of Piefferburg to remain intact—even if it means denying her fae sisters and brothers their freedom. Her mother's life depends on it.

Torn between his duty to obtain the pieces at any cost—and the shocking lust Elizabeth has stirred in him—Niall must convince Elizabeth to surrender the pieces, or else he may have no choice but to destroy her and all she holds dear.~Goodreads

<spans class="heads">Thoughts</spans>

Midnight Enchantment was an engrossing read. Being the last book in the Dark Magick series the drama and action was much more intense as everything came to a conclusion.

In Midnight Enchantment the story focuses on Niall Quinn, a mage, who is tasked to capture the elusive water fae Elizabeth Cely Saintjohn, who has in her possession the missing pieces of the Summer Queen, which are the ultimate keys of the fae’s freedom of their world. Things get more interesting as Niall and Elizabeth begin to develop feelings for each other amongst their cat and mouse relationship. What I enjoyed the most was the vivid detail of the fae world Piefferburg that Anya Bast created. From the first chapter I was engrossed in the amazingly vivid magical world.

Elizabeth and Niall’s relationship was an intriguing game that I enjoyed reading as it played out. I liked how their relationship developed from obligation, distrust and duty to love. Their complications and struggle with their past and current predicaments allowed for them to grow. All of the characters were realistic and diverse allowing me to connected with them and their individual stories.

The race against time was a major undertone within the story, adding to the overall urgency of the story. Things weren't at all what they seemed and I had a great in time figuring things out. Why Elizabeth did the things she did as well as Niall. Action, intrigue and romance were intricately woven through the story at a nice pace. Overall I enjoyed Midnight Enchantment and I look forward to reading more from Anya Bast.

Review: Awkward by Marni Bates

<t>Website</t>: Marni Bates
<t>Publisher</t>: Kensington Publishing
<t>Published</t>: January 1, 2012
<t>Genre</t>: YA Contemporary
<t>Format</t>: Paperback
<t>Pages</t>: 300
<t>Source</t>: <t>The Teen Book Scene Blog Tour</t>
<t>*received for honest review*</t>

Mackenzie Wellesley has spent her life avoiding the spotlight. At Smith High, she's the awkward junior people only notice when they need help with homework. Until she sends a burly football player flying with her massive backpack and makes a disastrous - not to mention unwelcome - attempt at CPR. Before the day is out, the whole fiasco explodes on YouTube. And then the strangest thing happens. Suddenly, Mackenzie is an Internet sensation, with four million hits and counting. Sucked into a whirlwind of rock stars, paparazzi, and free designer clothes, she even catches the eye of the most popular guy at school. And that's when life gets really interesting...~Goodreads

<t>Thoughts</t>

Awkward by Marni Bates was such an enjoyable read I couldn’t put it down. Going into it I thought it would be good, since the synopsis capture my attention but it was so much more. The story revolves Mackenzie normal high school girl who classifies herself as only being really known for her smarts and is okay with that. Until this really in embarrassing indecent happens which is then broadcast to the world, instantly through her into the limelight, somewhere she does not want to be.

I instantly related to Mackenzie because who hadn't been or felt awkward during high school? I like how even though she wasn't popular she didn't want to be and was ok with who she was. As her life totally changed it was fun to read about her new adventures as she navigated the world of popularity and being in the public eye.

Even though her status changed, she didn't completely changed with it, keeping true to her self, family and friends while at the same time exploring her limits and really finding herself. I got to see how Mackenzie, with all her awkwardness and faults, dealt with and be challenged by things. I really enjoyed the added romance with the story. I say it was predictably fun, meaning though you probably knew what would happen it was still enjoyable to read and I loved how it slowly developed within the story. It had my anticipation high, waiting for when it would fully come together.

The characters were realistic, relatable and fun; from Mackenzie friends Jane and Corey, her mother and brother and who Mackenzie clearly classified as "The Notables”. It was refreshing that they all played important roles with the story and I liked how they integrated with Mackenzie's life. I especially loved Logan; he was sarcastic funny and kept Mackenzie on her toes.

Overall Awkward by Marni Bates was a hilarious fun read that I enjoyed from beginning to end. Everything from her crazy predicaments to the interesting characters had me hooked. Readers looking for a funny engrossing read should pick up Awkward.

Review: Breakaway by Deirdre Martin

<t>Website</t>: Deirdre Martin
<t>Series</t>: New York Blades #11
<t>Publisher</t>: Berkley
<t>Published</t>: February 7, 2012
<t>Genre</t>: Adult Contemporary Romance
<t>Format</t>: Mass Market Paperback
<t>Pages</t>: 302
<t>Source</t>: Publisher
<t>*received for honest review*</t>

They had it all planned out: college, marriage, happily ever after.
But it didn't quite work out that way...

Erin O'Brien was everyone's favorite in Ballycraig, while Rory Brady was the town's golden boy: the local lad who moved to America and became a professional hockey player. Rory promised to return to sweep Erin away to the life of her dreams in New York. Heading back to Ballycraig, he's confident that all he needs to do is flash his winning smile and Erin will fall back into his arms. But Erin's moved on.

Racing the clock, Rory needs to prove to her that the man she fell in love with is still there. But can happy-go-lucky Erin risk it all and give another chance to the man who broke her heart?~Goodreads

<t>Thoughts</t>

Breakaway was the first title I’ve read from Deirdre Martin and from the synopsis it sounded like it would be an interesting read, and it was. The story centered on Erin O’ Brian, who fell in love with her high school sweet heart Rory Brady. They were the “it” couple in the small Irish town of Ballycraig Ireland and had their perfect lives all planed out. Rory getting drafted into pro hockey, the big move to America, then marriage. Now things did go according to plan, Rory got drafted to play professional and he went to America but that’s where the plan ended. Rory, swept away by the bright lights of fame, broke off his engagement to Erin cutting all ties to his old life behind in Ballycraig.

Two years has past since Rory went away to America and the story begins with Rory going back to his hometown to fix the mess he left of his old life with the intention to win back Erin’s heart and the friendships of those he left behind. A long shot? I thought so. This is one of the first instances were I started reading a story disliking one of the main characters. Who could blame me? What Rory did was wrong and cowardly on many levels. So from the start the story evoked emotions from me, though negative.

How Deirdre Martin would make Erin, me and everybody in Ballycraig (besides Rory’s parents) see him in a better light, was a challenge that had me flipping the page to find the answer. Cause Rory had a lot to make up for.

The story had a nice consistent flow and I enjoyed getting to know Erin and finding out that she was a strong who cared for people but knew what she wanted out of life. I admired that when things didn’t work out as planned, she was devastated like any person would be but then got back on her feet and set goals for her life.

Forgiveness played a major theme within the story. Deirdre Martin crafted these believable characters filled with emotion and flaws that drew me into their story. Getting to know Rory more, he began to grow on me though not as much as I wanted. Though I have to give him some credit because he understood what he did was wrong and went back to face those he’d wronged.

In the end I enjoyed reading Erin and Rory struggle to repair their broken love as well as Rory try to repair the broken relationships of his friends. Though I wished the Erin could have let Rory suffer a bit more and that Rory could have shown a bit more remorse for what he did which I felt was hidden behind his determination to win back Erin and fix the mess that he made.

Overall Breakaway was a good read with some faults. Though I had a few qualms it didn’t totally tarnish the story for me. The story did have an interestingly compelling story and believable characters. Adult readers looking for a nice contemporary romance should give Breakaway a shot.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; But I just couldn’t pass up a surprise kiss from my number-one unattainable crush. A kiss that did something to me – something strange. Now I feel hungry all the time, but not for food. It’s like part of me is missing – and I don’t know if I can get it back.

Then there’s Bishop. At first I thought he was just a street kid, but the secrets he’s keeping are as intense as his unearthly blue eyes. If he’s what I think he is, he may be the only one who can help me. But something terrifying is closing in, and the one chance Bishop and I have to stop it means losing everything I ever wanted and embracing the darkness inside me.

<t>Why Dark Kiss?</t> She kisses her crush and something strange begins to happen to her. Now my curiosity is peaked and I want to know what it is. Hopefully is something strangely weird and compelling and not the obvious. Either way I'm intrigued and want to read this to find out.

<t>So Whats Your Waiting On Wednesday?</t>

This meme is hosted by Jill from Breaking The Spine

Teaser Tuseday: Dire Needs by Stephanie Tyler

<t>Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. But when Rune attempts to make good on his debt, he finds a woman on the edge.

Recently, Carling's Power has become erratic, forcing her followers to flee in fear. Despite the danger, Rune is drawn to the ailing Queen and decides to help her find a cure for the serpen's kiss—the vampyric disease that's killing her.

With their desire for each other escalating just as quickly as Carling's instability spirals out of control, the sentinel and the Queen will have to rely on each other if they have any hope of surviving the serpent's kiss~Goodreads

<t>Review</t>

I’m really enjoying Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series and with Serpent’s Kiss I’ve added it to the list. The focus of the story is turned to Wyr sentinel Rune and the mysterious vampire queen Carling.

When I found out that Rune and Carling were paired together I didn’t really see it at first but you know the saying “opposites attract” and Rune and Carling totally did in Serpent’s Kiss. Their chemistry was sizzling from the beginning.

What I enjoyed about Serpent’s Kiss was the complicated journey that Carling and Rune found themselves as love bloomed between them. I like Rune as a character since he was first introduced in past Elder Races novels, he has a nice balance of humor and seriousness when the time calls for it. In Serpent’s Kiss, Rune knew how to take charge of a situation that was spiraling out of control in a way that wasn’t overpowering.

Carling was also introduced in past stories, though unlike Rune she came off standoffish and reserved. So I didn’t really know if I would connect with her in Serpent’s Kiss. But Thea Harrison handled her in a way that broke through the wall Carling had put up and made her relatable and surprisingly vulnerable. I ended up connecting with the situation that Carling was dealing with and how through that she let down her walls and fell in love with Rune. Sometimes in order to have power one has to learn to let go and trust others and I feel Carling learned that lesson.

It was refreshing that the villain in the story wasn’t the normal person set on destruction and power. The real villain was time and a disease that ultimately made a powerful immortal know a new level of fear.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Not that I'm a crazy fan or anything . . .)

My rollerblades. Reasonably priced at $5,000,000,000 because they've held up brilliantly since . . . 6th grade, I think. They're my energy outlet of choice, whether I'm stressed, angry, euphoric or just sort of blah. Not sure I could have made it through high school without them.

My cat, Farley, I'll give away for free. He's entirely too handsome and he knows it, which means he thinks it's perfectly acceptable to be haughty and dismissive towards everyone. That's what I get for being shallow and judging only by looks.

My ballroom dance CDs. I've never listened to them since I stopped taking classes. Hmm . . . I might have to track those down, actually. $5

~Marni

Waiting On Wednesday: The Temptation by Alisa Valdes

<t>Meme is hosted by Jill from Breaking The Spine</t>

<t>Publisher</t>: HarperTeen
<t>Being Published</t>: April 24, 2012
<t>Pages</t>: 320

His touch was electric.
His eyes were magnetic.
His lips were a temptation....
But was he real?

After crashing her car on an empty highway, Shane is miraculously saved by Travis, a mysterious cowboy who walks out of nowhere. He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect--everyone except for Madison Montgomery.

Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.

Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat … and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson.

<t>Why Immortal City?</t> This sounds like great angel story and I enjoy a strong protagonist that goes against the norm.

<t>So Whats Your Waiting On Wednesday?</t>

Teaser Tuesday

<t>Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. But when he rescues Lyra from a violent attack, they're both captured by an insatiable desire that threatens to overwhelm them and bind them together for eternity... just as ancient enemies prepare to strike. And when they do, the Thorn and the Cait Sith - and Lyra and Jaden's love - may never recover from the deadly blow...~Goodreads

<spans class="heads">Impressions</spans>

I didn't know what to expect with Midnight Reckoning but I was pleasantly surprised A werewolf and vampire falling in love? This story was filled with drama and excitement, two elements I love in a story. Would the characters capture my interest as well? A question that lead me to pick up the book to find out.

<spans class="heads">Thoughts</spans>

The story of how a werewolf and vampire go against their societies and culture to fall in love while surviving in the process really captured and held my attention. The Dynasties was intricate, detailed world. How each supernatural society culture worked and the drama that ensued from it really made the world Jaden and Lyra lived in feel real.

The story was action packed from beginning to end. How Lyra and Jaden came together and dealt with their differences added another level of intensity to the story. The animosity between werewolves and the mixed breed vampire-cat shifters kept the danger at peak level, which I enjoyed.

Jaden and Lyra romance was really hot. I enjoyed that they had a history and independent lives before they were thrust together again. The attraction they felt for each other was as intense as the story. Their love wasn’t this instant thing, yes they had an instant connection, but it took time for the connection they felt for each other to grow into something more.

<spans class="heads">Characters</spans>

Lyra was strong character that was willing to do what was right for her pack no matter the doubt and negativity. She received on a regular basis from family and friends. I enjoyed her snide tough characteristic and even with her hard exterior she still identified with her weakness and recognized when she couldn't do it alone and needed help.

Jaden was just as tough and complicated but he knew how to jock and laugh which soften his character and made him likable and I liked. Even though he been through horrors in his life he kept his humanity which in the end lead him to Lyra. I liked both characters and connected with them as individuals, dealing with their individual problems and their wild romance.

<spans class="heads">Overall</spans>

I really enjoyed Midnight Reckoning, it was an intense story filled with action and passionate romance. Kendra Leigh Castle created an intriguing world filled with a combination age-old supernaturals and new unique creatures that added a freshness to the story. Adult readers of paranormal romance should defiantly give Midnight Reckoning a try. I look forward to more from Kendra Leigh Castle.

<t>Other Books In The Series</t>

Review: Everneath by Brodi Ashton

<t>Website</t>: Brodi Ashton
<t>Series</t>: Everneath Book 1

<t>Publisher</t>: Harper Collins (Balzer + Bay)
<t>Published</t>: January 24, 2012
<t>Genre</t>: Young Adult Paranormal Romance
<t>Source</t>: Netgalley
<t>*An honest review*</t>

Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's...~Goodreads

<spans class="heads">Impressions</spans>

How far would you go to get your old life back? See your friends, loved ones and the love of your life? Are you willing to sacrifice everything just for time to say goodbye? Nikki has to tackle just that with the crazy turn of her life returning from Everneath. Would the life she left behind still be there? With that interesting synopsis I was really interested to read Nikki’s story.

<spans class="heads">Thoughts</spans>

The plot was interesting from the beginning. It was a fresh new take on the Mythology of Persephone and Hades (more so Persephone). I really like that Brodi Ashton strayed from the original story, creating a whole new world and beings but keeping similar elements to with the mythology to tie it all together. Nikki's story was a unique one and I enjoyed reading how it unfolded.

At first I thought the story would be predictable since it was based off the Persephone’s story well. But with the new take on the story it took on a whole new persona and so what happen next became a true mystery and the decisions that Nikki would ultimately have to make made the story very intriguing.

What l like most in a story is that the action is high, consistent and able to capture my attention and hold it throughout the story and this story had some of those qualities. Within each chapter something interesting happened to further the story, in a smooth pace that didn't leave me confused. I enjoyed the duel stories of the past and present, which allowed me to truly understand what was happening and the reasons behind it.

I found myself enjoying Jack and Nikki’s sweet romantic past and how it bloomed from friendship to romance to being estranged. The intense underlying attraction between Nikki and Cole added drama and the question of who Nikki would ultimately end up with.

I would have loved to read more of the secret world of Everneath with its wonders and dangers. There was a lot of alluding to its importance and power but I only saw a piece of it in the beginning and would have love to see more interaction with the two worlds.

<spans class="heads">Characters</spans>

Nikki, while not an amazing character, I did like her and found her to be a relatable character that I could identify with. At times she had me questioning her actions and I felt that she was acting selfishly but that’s what made her relatable and realistic, so respect that.

Jack had potential for me to really like him as a character. I really liked getting to know him as Nikki's story unfolded and their relationship developed. At first I didn't like him because of his past action towards Nikki but he slowly grew on me.

Cole was my favorite. He was an intense, complicated character. Though viewed as the bad guy I didn't totally see him as that. I saw him as someone who understood the hand he'd been dealt and went after what he wanted. I enjoyed him, his snide remarks and the added complications that he brought to the story, making it more exciting.

<spans class="heads">Overall</spans>

Overall I enjoyed Everneath by Brodi Ashton and the story it told. It was compelling and unique. While that the story could have divulge into the Everneath more, I enjoyed the plot and characters and I feel that this is just the beginning.

<t>So Readers what do you think of Everneath?</t>

<t>If you already read it or are going to please comment and tell me what you think!</t>

Waiting On Wednesday: YA Edition

<t>Book:</t> A Beautiful Evil
<t>Author:</t> Kelly Keaton
<t>Publisher</t>: Simon Pulse
<t>Being Published</t>: February 21, 2012
<t>Pages</t>: 285
<t>Format</t>: Hardcover

A power she can’t deny. But the only good thing about his brother’s wedding is Kelly Moss. Nash can’t help but admire her confidence and beauty, but he’s forced to keep his distance because getting involved with Kelly could destroy his relationship with his newly discovered half sister, Tess…

Kelly came to Serendipity to give Tess–her half sibling as well, thanks to an illicit affair–a second chance at life. She learned long ago not to rely on anyone but herself. Besides, she doesn’t want to upset Tess’s life by pushing for a fling with Nash. Except the more she gets to know him, the more vulnerable she becomes to the kindness beneath his gruff exterior, and the less she’s able to stay away. But she has other reasons for keeping her distance. Like the secret from her past she knows Nash will never forgive…~Goodreads

<spans class="heads">Impressions</spans>

Destiny, the second book in the Serendipity Series, is about Nash Barron and his romance with Kelly Moss. In the first novel of the series Serendipity we were introduced to the Barron brothers Ethan, Nash, and Dash and I have to say that Nash was my least favorite out of them. So I went into this story a little wary, knowing that I would end up hating him even more or he would end up growing on me.

<spans class="heads">What Worked</spans>

Nash begins to have feelings for his half sister Tess’s half sister Kelly Moss. Confusing? Yea l was at first but since Kelly and Nash are not blood related in any way I relaxed with their romance.

The development of Kelly and Nash's paths and how they came to be the adults they were now. Kelly being a strong independent Paralegal and Nash being the jaded lawyer.

The romance between them ranged from steamy to hot. Kelly really gave uptight Nash a challenge, which I enjoyed.

Both Nash and Kelly had to tackling issues within themselves as well as issues with their relationship. I appreciated how they had to deal with their own issues before they could be successful with their relationship. Especially Nash.

<spans class="heads">Could Have Been Better</spans>

The characters didn’t resonate with me. Even though Nate ended up growing on me, and both he and Kelly were good characters I just didn’t connect with them as much as I wanted.

I wish there was an even more complex, dynamic plot to enhance the story.

<spans class="heads">Overall</spans>

Destiny was a nice contemporary romance that showcased the relatable trails and tribulations a family and romantic relationship go through. Adult Romance readers looking for a contemporary romance should give Destiny a shot.

<t>Other Books In The Series</t>
