The food in Istanbul is incredible – and these are some of my favorite kebabs. I also like the Adana Kebabs (Spicy) but didn’t get a shot of them. Short depth of field, lots of food, good color – great taste.

This truck passed when we were on our way to the fields we were camping in.

I love how the white snow makes the color stand out.

This guy wakes me up every morning, so I set my shutter to slow and got him covered in sparks. Look how they bounce around his feet!

It Snowed! The roofs got white! Visibility Dropped! Just a shot of the city below us.

The view of the house next to us out to the Bosphorus from our glass porch. Perhaps I will get a spy shot in a window one day?

Sometimes I’m hold and sometimes I’m not. Not so hot right now. Nice vertical lines, could have found something more interesting had I gone out earlier. The con men were hitting the streets hard tonight and I didn’t want to pull my camera out.

Can you smell it? The flower, not the carpet. Hairy and delicate, it was waiting to be crushed, so I decided to practice with a little depth of field. While not a true macro shot, it comes close. Patterns on the rug make for a great color blur as the shot moves out of focus.

A woman begs for spare change alongside Istiklal, a central shopping and social boulevard in Istanbul’s Beyoglu area. Thousands flock to the street every night to see and be seen.

This shot was taken at night in darkness with a long exposure. The street was crowded and many people passed between me and her while the shutter was open, but she did not move an inch, allowing me to capture this shot as if it were daylight.

Second Shot

Taken last second at a hotel in Istanbul’s old city while waiting for an elevator, I didn’t realize that the steps were different colors until I got back home.

I like the subtleness of the color change, but wish I had taken some time to work on the focus and the exposure. this is a fairly grainy photo – but for the first one of the series, I think it is great.
