K &amp; I moved home a few months ago and were left with a huge pile of boxes and cartons from the move. I said to K, we better make some pieces of decor that matched our walls and also a place to hold stuffs lying around, K liked the idea as much as I did and hence on a cold winter weekend we decorated these boxes and also wrapped a cereal box. While we not only enjoyed the process of having a chit-chat and making them, these boxes also perfectly sit on top of our shoe rack to hold pairs of socks and wrapped cereal box holds newly arrived posts. The idea was to make a table placement or some such sort, as I thought this might go well with our interiors. Late in the year, as the winter set in, table placement started taking the shape more of a cardigan. After all that drama, midway through I had to abandon this work .. and gosh! it was 2 years since this was lying on my to-do-list before it got some attention!<br /><br />At each step of making this I had no idea what the finished product would look like, but I kept telling myself it will be fine when I finish it!. And to my surprise, it really has! Finally I can call it done today!, A self designed, crocheted new year gift to myself.. I guess I see it more as a piece of art and may prefer to look at it than to put it on...whatever it is I am very excited that this came out quite well for having no training whatsoever in crocheting or making clothlines.. Even if you feel you don't like it now, who knows you may like it yourself another day! ". Ever since none of my works have bid adieu. <br /> <br />This is one such work from archives, an exercise done to get as many colours as possible just using the basic colours (<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">RGB</span>). It didn't mean much to me when I finished it and hence kept it away. To me it wasn't anything more than just rendering of basic colour combinations that I was asked to. <br /> <br />However when I picked this up recently, I was reminded of the saying "Life is a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get", for an artist I would like to say, "Life is a palette of colours, you never know what gets created !". In this case its not just rendering of colours that made me post this here today, I guess its also the perception with which I see it. <br /> <br />After all an art work gets it's life when viewed and appreciated by eyes that can see and perceive it's beauty else it's just a piece of work created for the sole <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">happiness</span> or satisfaction of the artist.. I have been trying my hands on a few things and hopefully I will post them here soon.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">This is an etching using hard grounds. For those who are new to the term etching- it's an intaglio method of printmaking, one of the oldest and widely used techniques of the present time. It looks like a tedious process to start with, but can be very intresting. After a couple of attempts I had absolute fun working on preparing the etching plate and working towards this peice.
