2015: of to a busy start!

With the new year comes loads of changes. January flew by as I completed projects, started a new job, and settled into my new nest at last. February is also flying by. It's my birthday month, which I sort of dread and love at the same time.

I will surely get better at blogging as I settle into my new work schedule! I also plan on traveling much more this year so expect some happy travel posts and loads of pictures.

Lately, here in our snow globe it has been never ending cold. We have been snuggling with cats and drinking copious amounts of gin (surprise?). I'm very excited to push this blog to the next level and share tutorials, reviews, and much more. Cheers! Hope everyone is enjoying their new year.

Vacation: Eden Roc, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Truly felt blessed having won this amazing vacation courtesy of Allure Magazine and Eden Roc (Best of Beauty 2013). My boyfriend Tom and I took off on the 10th of this month and started an amazing relaxing vacation on the beach to a country the two of us have never been to!

The Dominican Republic was certainly beautiful. We arrived in Punta Cana in the afternoon and were taken to the resort. Tom had never been to another country (unless you count Canada which is basically 10 feet away from us here) so I was really looking forward to him experiencing something different! Everywhere you look was like a desktop image... perfection, but real!

I took so many photos of our trip, I tried to carry my camera everywhere because I just wanted to capture all the beautiful bits of DR. Everything we ate was spectacular. I eating was one of the most exciting parts because we had fresh delicious fish (and much more) every day! But of course just sitting on the beach with our feet in the perfect beach-combed white sand was something that could not be replicated.

We had a golf cart for the entirety of our trip, which we took EVERYWHERE we could go! We searched out another beach, which was very cool to see as well. We also explored the Marina, where we accidentally walked onto a movie set! The beach at the Marina was also very nice, and I was able to pick up some lovely shells from the shore. We sat on the rocks for a bit and watched as dark clouds rolled in, even though it didn't even rain.

Another part of the trip I was looking forward to was The Spa at Eden Roc. The Spa at Eden Roc was beautiful, and I wish I had time to experience more than just a massage and facial. They really took care of us and we walked away so refreshed.

It was hard to leave what we had made as our home away from home. Everyone we met was so accommodating and willing to answer any question we had. Not only were the workers at Eden Roc wonderful, they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and felt comfortable.

Who doesn't love a sharp dressed man? Fall is a time for tailored pieces, and every man needs a great blazer in their closet. Easily dressed up or dressed down, I think I am very simply attracted to the dressed down style. To me, it is still dressed up!

Bonobos Fall 2014

I created a board inspired by Bonobos fall men's suit line for 2014. I am also heavily inspired by men's street style, specifically in Paris. Because let's face it, every man in Paris is gorgeous (and every woman who are we kidding). Enjoy and let me know what you think! I fell in love with Todd Terje's "Inspector Norse" this year. It's a weird bouncy lovely fun song, and it came to me by chance through Spotify. I found myself listening to this a lot while walking to the bus and it never fails to put a swing in my step.

This video from a festival in Oslo called Øya, and the dancer's make the video for sure. Enjoy & smile!

Little Piece Of My World: Bedside Table

My housemate and I moved into a new apartment in May and are still getting the place set up to our liking. For me it is an ever changing thing, I love to create small spaces in my apartment that are perfected and make me happy. This is one of them, my bedside table.

Having things within access and creating a lovely visual is something I love about this small spot in my room. I have an antique side table from my grandparents who passed, I then repainted it this amazing bright blue and added knobs from Anthropologie.

Most of the pieces of this table are thrifted or precious. The glass bottle was thrifted and it has printed teal flowers, I hold random makeup and beauty supplies that aren't necessarily needed all the time. I also put some fake flowers and real branches (from a halloween costume!). The trinket box was also thrifted, I have no idea what its real use is but it works great to hold my passport, Molami headphones, and my Nintendo 3DS.

The small ceramic plate is from an asian store in Toronto. Unfortunately it has a chip in it (which I think adds to the character) but is one of my favorite pieces on this table, with small bunnies jumping around. I keep my daily jewelry on this plate, easy to pick up and go. Next to it, my current favorite nail polish color by Essie and a small OPI top coat. My current scent is Elizabeth & James Nirvana in black, in love with it, and the rollerball I often throw in my purse for a refresh throughout my day.

These days lately have been non-stop. It's work, then a break, then some work, then business, maybe go out for a drink/meal, sleep, do it all over again. I am in no way complaining, I like to get the most out of every day and feel fully accomplished before going to bed. Thinking of all the things I checked off the list is a nice feeling.
I have been busy in the studio getting many things finished up, here are some photos from me playing around and some of the new products!

As a small business owner, I love to shine the light on other artists doing the same as I. We put a lot of time and effort into these stores and it really shows in Lux Divine's shop. Lux Divine is a bohemian collective, each piece is perfected and gorgeous. Here's a bit taken from Jessica of Lux Divine's profile:
"I began designing jewelry when I was in high school. I have always known that making jewelry is what I was meant to do with my life. Cannot say I have ever been a huge fan of Miley, but this video is actually something I really enjoyed. Miley seems to take her clothes off for any occasion, this one is a video in which she wraps her self in ribbons and ink. This video is worth a watch - if anything, for artistic inspiration. I am also loving the backing track, I did a little searching and found it on Soundcloud!

I like to call this look the "Fancy Pajama". I have worn this on several occasions and I feel very me in it. This outfit is the most comfortable and still looks (sort of) like a normal everyday outfit.

Features a grey knit jersey top by Free People, wide leg pants by Sanctuary, wedge boots by Deena & Ozzy, and an awesome jeweled necklace I found on eBay.

It's been so lovely to be able to just sit at my computer and browse the internet. I have been so none-stop-action for the past month and a half. So I gathered a bunch of wonderful things I found on some of my favorite blogs!

Blogger's block happens to us all, I know at times I feel lost and just don't have the inspiration. Gala Darling has posted a list of 50 ideas to get rid of blogger's block.

I love sunglasses, they're one of my favorite accessories and can completely change a look while keeping your eyes relaxed. These two-tone sunglasses are going to be a huge trend this spring/summer.

Inspiring and sweet post about living in Paris. Which happens to be one of my most common day dreams. A Room With A View gives a little insight to Parisian living.

The idea of a Donut Party got me oh so excited. Also I'm a huge sprinkle addicted and I just love all sweets. Mimosas to pair with please!

White is one of the big colors for this spring... or lack thereof! I love the idea of an all white outfit, it slightly terrifies me because I'm a klutz of sorts.
There's just something about all white that is so pure, and especially on darker skin tones, I am oh so jealous of the way it pops. This reminds me of how I must sunbathe this summer because I'm like a little ghost from this terrible winter we had.

Weather is warming up here, but 40 something degrees still warrants a hat. I just purchased a new camera so expect many more outfit posts from me! This also motivates me to dress in more interesting ways because sometimes we all get in that wear-the-same-thing-every-day rut.

New In Music: French Horn Rebellion x HAERTS, Lykke Li, Chromeo x Toro Y Moi x The Magician, Etc.

This French Horn Rebellion x HAERTS track is the perfect mix of dance and relax with the lovely female vocals of HAERTS. This is a track I'll be playing to get me out of the winter rut we are currently trapped in. It has been categorized as Next Jack Swing which is pretty spot on.

As a long-time fan of Lykke Li I have been awaiting a new release. The wait was worth it and it's true to her natural style. Tears at your heart strings.

Changing paces, this track by Chromeo featuring Toro Y Moi and remixed by The Magician features so many of my favorite artists all in one track. It crosses over genres yet still stays true to all of the artists general sound.

Aluna George has such a distinct voice and mixed with the right producers they bring out all the good in her. Being a huge fan of her Disclosure track and her most recent album (Body Music) I knew I had to give this a chance. I am also infatuated with Kaytranada as of late, this combo is perfect.

Another artist really growing on me is BANKS. The video for Brain accompanies the song to perfection. If you haven't given BANKS a shot yet, now is the moment.

New In Fashion: Lazy Oaf Spring 2014

There's this un-repressible love for Japanese culture that has lingered through my life. Tokyo is a destination I dream of traveling to... and will within the next couple of years, it's a goal! Lazy Oaf has just released their Spring 2014 collection shot in this amazing robot cafe, I believe it's a club where you can eat dinner and watch a robot and dinosaur show... sounds insane and just perfect. Check out the video, and the soundtrack is Ryan Hemsworth (yay!).

Walking outside this morning was a little odd. It was around 42 degrees and yet I was still trudging through the mounds of snow in my blood red chunky heeled boots. DIY Day: Bracelets, Bags, and More

Set aside a day to try out something new! These DIY tutorials show you step by step how to make some really cool things. I absolutely need to try enameling now!

1. DIY Printed Jeans - Take a pair of plain jeans and make them on-trend! This seems super easy and could be awesome in so many different colors.

2. Trendy Bee Enamel Cuff - I haven't seen enameling tutorials in the mainstream, but look how simple it can be! I just love the bee too, so sweet.

3. DIY Leather Camera Strap - If you're a photographer or have a photographer friend, this is a really perfect day project.

4. DIY Gold Dipped Feathers - The creator hung this on their christmas tree but I think these could be year round decorations for your home. In love with this style.

5. Worsted Twist Seed Scarf Pattern - It's still freezing here, this scarf is a must have must make now!

6. DIY Wax Paper Backdrop - What a cute idea for a photoshoot backdrop! I actually love this as home decor even.

7. DIY Party Top - Take an old top, & make it better! Sorry I had to.

8. Cut Out Boots DIY - So on point, I've been seeing the cut-out booties everywhere. This also looks not terribly hard, just a little more time consuming than the other projects.
