At first, i thought it was me  and started to Panic.. My stomach was churning, I felt sick and  I’m running around the plot muttering to myself… O my god, I’ve killed them, I’ve killed them… you see, I’ve resorted to using some round-up on some bramble that’s refusing to die and i thought some must of drifted over while i sprayed…

On the day i used it though there was no breeze and i held the watering can down low at ground level minimizing any chance of drifting. Everything else next to her potatoes looked fine ,which puzzled me,  “how come they’ve collapsed and everything else around them is healthy..

I was convinced i was responsible  for this happening… The things that were going through my head – ” I’ll deny any knowledge” Or i could just casually mention that the plot holder on the other side of her has resorted to weed killer after they rotovated “evil grin” No, I cant do that.. I’ll own up and offer to pay for her potatoes next year.. Otherwise I’ll never be able to look her in the face again…

Then “A” appeared and asked how my potatoes were as some on the site had blight. “blight” Oh, I’ll take a look.  What a relief. I think i must be the only person to be pleased with having blight..

At the moment its a very mild attack. Only a few leaves have black spots and are turning yellow..

My Earlie’s are still in the ground… I had a poke around and they look fine.. as its been so hot i couldn’t face digging so  ill get them out in the next few days. I’ve sprayed my main potatoes with Bordeaux mixture to help control it.. If they get worse ill have to cut the foliage down but I’m hoping i caught it early enough to control it..

The second picture is of a crochet blanket my aunt made for me years ago, it was actually made for a single bed so is a little on the short side but i love it and still use it in the summer months. I think the pattern was quite popular in the seventies as I’ve seen a couple of identical ones being sold on eBay – under vintage crochet for a ridiculous amount of money.

I realise these were labours of love and when new the price should reflect that, but i cant help thinking these were picked up for a song at a boot fair or house clearance. Hmn.. cynical thing aren’t I!!!

As you can see ironing’s not my forte !!

My plans for my welsh cottage is to decorate and furnish it with second hand miniatures from the fifties onwards. I say second hand and not vintage, because to me vintage is antique, not something from a 60/70s dolls house that is probably the same age as me..  I’m certainly not vintage ..lol

My welsh cottage has a real slate roof and flooring that i bought from eBay that reminded me of my grandparents cottage in Wales.. so, really was destined to be a miniature memory of their home.. I’m still debating weather to have a bathroom as i vaguely remember the cottage not having one. A shiny pink bathroom suite was installed in the early seventies..

The sideboard in the picture is reminiscent of the utility furniture that was popular that my Nana kept her best china in ..

At the moment the room looks sparse.. I have more or less finished collecting for this room i just need to pull it all together and finish painting and distressing the other furniture i have for it.

A  crash course in photographing miniatures would help also, I’m not finding that easy..

My Welsh cottage is being decorated from my memories of my grandfathers cottage and sea view is in the style of french shabby chic..  They are all still works in progress..  Still evolving. I’ll dig out some photos of the interiors soon and post them here…
