After 7 years of being a stay at home mom, I have my first job interview tomorrow! I am nervous, excited, anxious... all of those things! Now that both of my children are in school it is time for me to venture back into the working world. I am so excited about this new chapter in my life. There are many things that I love about being home with my children and being home with my husband when he is off work any old time, but there is also something to be said about doing my part to bring in income in this world we are living in these days. It sure has changed in the last few years. I am a firm believer in the saying, "Everything happens for a reason." So, wish me luck :)

Day 4 and the nails still look great!! No color chipping or peeling of color! I have tanned and washed dishes and clothes and cleaned and they look great! :)

I got tired of spending $40+ to go to the salon to have my UV nails done. Especially last time my french manicure line was crooked! So, I decided to learn how to do my own gel nails. I purchased the Gelish set complete with the stronger UV light. Here is a pic of the results with the color called "good gossip."

The color definitely needed 2 coats with a UV cure after each. It looks pretty good. This is only the second time I have done a full color and not french mani so I am anxious to see how long it will last. The color itself is a bright cherry with sparkles. It would really be an awesome toe color. I usually go more muted on fingers. It is cute though. :)

I had an image in my head of what I wanted my bedding to look like and this is pretty much spot on. It took me a while and I admit purchase that didn't work out, but this is the final result. I refuse to pay extreme amounts for bedding because I have 2 kids, 2 dogs (that sometimes sneak in the bed) and a hubby who is ALL MAN! lol So, here is my run down... Matelese bedspread from amazon.com for about $40, teal striped pillows are from TJ Maxx for about $15 each, coral and cream hibiscus pillows from O.co for about $28 for the set of 2, turquoise pillow cover from Etsy for about $18 and blanket at the bottom from TJ Maxx for $30 (It is actually a twin size quilt). Now I have something to base the rest of my room on. I plan on getting new lamps or at least refinishing the ones we have and maybe a few other re-do's.

One way to take something that you like and add to your decor in pretty much any room is by adding pillows. Either in the color palette or an image. Since I love peacocks here a few examples of ways to add the image on a pillow to any room.

Personally I will take all 3!! I will find a home for them all (somewhere) :)

I am determined to have a good last week of summer before school starts. I know it will be chaos once school starts because of open houses and waking up early and adjusting to a new schedule. And how does my lovely last week start? I chipped the same tooth that I just got fixed less than a month ago! This is the 3rd time to get it fixed!! So, have to work in a dentist visit today so I don't rub a hole in my tongue messing with the tooth. I am also dog sitting my friends' puppy while they get closed on their new house and both kiddos had runny noses yesterday. Niece will be born any day now and I forgot to pick up Hubby's meds yesterday. My brain needs a moment to wrap around everything and get a plan going! lol So I may be MIA for a few days to get a hold on all of this. :)

I do love peacocks, no doubt, however, perhaps I do not love them as much as the people in the images I selected for Peacock Friday this week.

Now that is some serious peacock love! If I thought a tattoo would actually look good on me I would probably choose a peacock (if not for the color alone) but most importantly to remind myself to be proud and spread my wings. Even if I cannot or don't plan on flying away. :)

Ever been to a home in which each room has been meticulously decorated and it flows so nicely from the foyer to the bedrooms until you step into the BATHROOM? and then it's like? What did the paint store run out of paint? Did the decorator call in sick on the bathroom design day? Did the homeowner decide the bathroom was just to small to care what it looked like? Well, I am sure we have all been guilty of leaving at least one bathroom in our homes "un-decorated" or at the very least "un-inspired" I like that term better. To decorate a home completely we all need inspiration. We look at clothing and see color combinations we like, or fabric, or look at shoes and like a certain glamorous feel or even take inspiration from our flower garden. It really is everywhere. One piece of advise that I really liked and hung onto while redecorating my home was to treat the bathrooms like their own little jewel box. Why not? They are relatively small so if we want to try something that seems to be a good place to do it. For the smaller of my 2 bathrooms I chose French Country inspiration. I had to bear in mind that it is used by my children and my guests so I could not design it to the gills. By that I mean, function first! I will be posting pics of all of my projects soon. But until then, here a few to inspire a jewel box bathroom re-do :)

Paint it MY way!!

I finally decided on the final paint colors. This has been a very hard decision for me. I hope it turns out the way my mind see it all. (fingers crossed) I will post real pics once it is all finished. Here are my choices. Keep in mind, one of my motos is BAN TAN and CHOOSE COLOR!

Kitchen/breakfast nook color (Tibetan Orange by Behr)

Formal dining room which is where Hubby's Grandmother's antique dining set is along with a few of his must haves. I think this is a great color for his masculine touch! (Red pepper by Behr) This room is not really open to the rest of the house.

This is for the foyer, living room and hallway that separates the 2 kids rooms and the kids bathroom. This color is visible from breakfast nook. and vice versa. I really like the way the blue and orange complement each other. (Gulf winds by Behr)

Kids bathroom color. I was inspired by French country for this bathroom. I wanted something not too girly, not too boyish and not too childish. We have previously had metallic stripe wallpaper of tan and silver with white tube, toilet and sink and white trim and cabinets...then took wallpaper down (don't get me started on that JOB) and painted it light gray. Hubby did not like the gray. So I decided to go a whole new direction. Everyone in the house loves this little bathroom. It is cozy and chic but not too cluttered. We are adding crown molding (not yet done) but all of the trim and cabinets will remain white. As the rest of my house...all trim and crown molding and chair rail and doors and sills and mantle are white. I really like how the white freshens up all the colors.

Finally--We are also redecorating my 6 year old daughter's room. She is ready for her grown up room she advised me. So, we are planning to take out all the baby pictures and such and really vamp up her room. She looked through several pictures with me online and chose things that she liked. She knew that my choice would be the final choice but I wanted to see where her style was going. We actually picked a lot of the same things. We recently took out the white ceiling fan that was in her room (since we bought the house) and put in a chandelier perfect for a princess. This is the color we chose, Barely Pink by Behr. We are keeping the trim white and adding crown molding in her room. Her room currently has tan carpet but once we get the time and extra money we are going to change all of the bedrooms to wood floors.

Any comments or ideas or anything!!! really anything!! is much appreciated!

Don't judge a NOOK by the cover....OR SHOULD YOU????

So, after much much thought and drama (will elaborate on that later) I finally got an ereader. A Nook! AND a cute pink cover! :)

I am loving it so far!!

MY DRAMA-- I first ordered a NEXTBOOK from Best Buy online. It was about $30-40 bucks cheaper and that may have been a reason why I went with the Nextbook first instead of the Kindle or Nook. But I got the first one on time and everything. I immediately opened it up and booted it up. The pre-loaded books came right up and were able to be read. HOWEVER, when I went to download more books, that is when the trouble began! O.M.G!!! I was on the phone a total of 2.5 hours because it would not work! It was pre-loaded with Borders ap and it would not work. I found out that Borders was taken over by KOBO and that my Nextbook needed to have the Kobo ap downloaded. Problem is that it would not download the Kobo ap!!! 2 reps from Nextbook and Kobo tried to help me and it just would not work! UGH! so I took it back. That same night.

After a week or so I realized that I really did want an ereader and should not let that bad experience stand in the way of trying another. I went back to Best Buy and the friendliest rep helped me decide on my Nook. I have downloaded probably 15 books so far and NO PROBLEM AT ALL! I can do it right from my Nook and they are downloaded in just a few seconds!

I actually watched a you tube to see how to make a rag quilt, bought the flannel, cut the fabric, sewed the fabric squares and.... completed a sewing project!!!! TA DA!!!!!

I am so proud of myself! I have not even touched a sewing machine since Home ec class in JUNIOR HIGH!! I learned how to thread it, load and thread the bobbin and how to change a needle (I broke 2) oops! BUT! I finished! I finished! WOO WOO!!

First off, I apologize for the bad picture, It was taken with my blackberry. lol This blankie is for my niece that will be born soon. This ETSY shop owner is so super sweet and had this made and sent out SUPER fast!! Her prices are so reasonable!! Really! This set was $17.00 and $3.50 to ship! A regular printed blankie at a regular store was about $15! and this has owls (her theme) and HER NAME!!! It is a blankie and burpie both with name on them. I have to brag on her!! Yes, sadly it is Monday. I stayed up late finishing SIL's (sister-in-law) maternity photos so now I am dragging. I need a little inspiration to pump up my energy for today. A little reminder that once I get my work done, I can play..lol. By play I mean have fun with the kids, put on a cute outfit, shop (or dream) about new things for the house, or at least finish my other current project... the quilt.
If I were wearing a mood ring and could pick the color I WANTED it to be, it would be PINK! So, here is a little PINK MOOD INSPIRATION! :)

I have been looking for a cute pair of pink heels with some type of big bow or big ruffles on the top. Came across these on Pinterest...shows available from DSW. Only 39.95 but only available in size 12 or 14-- so any drag queens out there need a cute pair of shoes???
