Oh... I meant "Catch Up"

Since I've been away from the blogging world for way too long, here are a couple pics to try to get back on track. I didn't realize how far behind I've gotten. So much has happened since I blogged in mid November.

This picture of Hadalye is from November 8th....before we got dumped on with our first snow.

I love this one of Brian and his truck.

On December 1st I went to use the kitchen sink and no water would come out of the faucet. The pump down in the well was broken. They came and replaced it later that day. $$OUCH$$

There was nothing special going on this day. I just love the picture.

On Cyber Monday I was doing a little online shopping and came across the best deal ever! I have been wanting one of these but the one I wanted was $400, way to expensive for me.

I found this one at Kohls....on sale....extra 30% off....Kohl's bucks....and free shipping.....

I only paid $120 for it! The best deal of 2011!

Grandparents Day @ Pre-K

This fall Felicity started 3 year old pre-school. She only goes one day a week for three hours. It is amazing what their little brains can soak up in such a short time.

This week they had grandparents day. They sang a couple songs and had juice and cookies. The program lasted a whole 5 minutes and it was so darn cute.

I took some more pics but only had my little camera with me so of course they are kind of blurry.

So sweet.

There are only five kids in the class
and a couple of the boys wouldn't do the little dance....

I've had a pretty uneventful week around here.

The beautiful leaves have all fallen off the trees leaving them bare
and wintery-looking.

It's raining and cold.
Winter is definitely on its way.

Watching the last of these days disappear
feeling the air get colder
seeing the world get darker.
Memories of lying on the grass
of the sun warming my closed eyes.

Now, the warmth is gone
the sunshine is gone
the world has turned into something new
something colder, something darker
something different,

something Beautiful.

Don't Wish it Away

We've been having absolutely beautiful weather here for the past week. I've been trying to take in every bit of these 80 degree days. I know they are coming to an end and it will be a long 7 -8 months before they come again.

Since the colors are so gorgeous we got out there and took a lot of family pictures. This is one of my favorites from the week. It was actually just a quick shot I took as we were walking into the woods on our way to the "posed" pictures. (Which I will be sharing later this week.)

It is hard for me to believe that my baby has his own little precious gift from God. I remember so vividly the days of him holding his Daddy's hand like this.

I know how it is when your children are small and you can't wait until they are older so they could "take care of themselves more." Take it from me....."Don 't EVER wish your children older." It will happen so fast it will make your head spin. Soak up EVERY second with them when they are little. I know that is my motto with my grandchildren. Don't sweat the small stuff and my BIGGEST motto for raising children......"Pick your battles."

Little Frankies

A few of you commented on my "candy corn" nails in my last post so I decided to show you my latest creation. I can't take the credit for the idea, I found a tutorial on youtube. It was actually very easy to do since I have zero artistic talent. The hardest part was painting my right hand. Does anyone else have a VERY uncoordinated left hand?

I found a whole new world of nail art. Now I just need to grow some nails so I can try some of the really cool ones. This pic is my hand with Kylee's on top.

Then once Felicity saw my nails she had to have hers done.

It's a bit tougher with these tiny little nails.

And then she had to have her toes done...

there was NO WAY I was going to try to paint those faces

on those little specks of toenail.

So she got polka dots.

And one last shot of my hand with Felicity's on top.

I can't wait to go find my next nail art project.....

Blogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time we find ourselves sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?" I know them...but yet I don't know them! I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought I would join Java at Never Growing Old for Meet Me on Monday for a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Questions:

1. I can't stand when someone ________?

Doesn't use cruise control.

2. Do you do daily, weekly or monthly grocery shopping?

I don't have a schedule for grocery shopping. I go when the cupboards and fridge are getting bare. Sometimes that is quite often when we cook for the village a lot and sometimes I go for a couple weeks without shopping when I am home alone while Brian is gone for work.

3. What kind of car do you drive?

A 2001 VW Beetle. I bought it brand new and I STILL love it ten years later.

4. Crunchy or soft tacos?

Soft, definitely.

5. What's the habit you are proudest of breaking?

I don't think I really have many "bad" habits.

I would have to ask Brian since he knows me better than I know myself.

The one habit I would LIKE to break is too much sugar!

I hope none of you have called "The Missing Bloggers Association" since I've been gone for a week or so. I'm sorry for keeping you up at night worrying. No worries, I'm still around.

Let me catch you up on what we've been up to....

Football season has started and there's been a lot of "Go Pack Go" going on.

"TOUCHDOWN"

Felicity started preschool.

It is only 3 hours on Friday morning and she is loving it!

Hadalye turned one and we had a big birthday bash for her.

Tracy shot her first bear. I can't believe my little fru fru princess girl was turned into a hunter when she married Cole. I guess guys will do that to you.

Jack LOVES to dance. He has quite the moves for an 18 month old.

We woke up to frost on the ground a couple mornings already.....not ready for that!

Carrots, tomatoes, and more.....oh my!

Our 29th Anniversary was on Sunday...♥

I put up my fall decorations which is a bit early for me.

and added a bit of Halloween too

Does anyone else just LOVE pumpkin scented candles?

My favorite....

I'm so glad we had this little visit.

Hopefully we won't stay apart so long next time.

We had some time to take a couple rides on the bike lately, which was absolutely awesome! It's one of our favorite things to do and we don't get nearly enough time for it. The videos look like we are going soooo fast but I promise we are not going 100mph.....

The last video is pulling up to our house. It will give you a look into our "village." The first place way to the back (after the line of trees) is Cole and Tracy's. The next little brown house is Andy and Casey's. Then of course our house is the one we pull up to.

Anyone out there want to go for a ride with us?

I received a delivery this morning from a very special little girl. Kylee dropped off this little ring and sculpture of me. She got the blonde hair and blue eyes right. And of course she knows me well....a pink shirt. Just think of the time and thought that her little 6 year old mind put into it. I love getting treasures like this, they make my heart feel full.

I was going through some pictures this weekend and came across this one that Tracy took at Lacey's wedding a few weeks ago. For those of you that know Grandpa (Brian's dad), he is stubborn and won't smile for most pictures.

We had better all get a copy of this and frame it!

Torn and Bruised

I haven't been around blogland very much lately.

I will fill you in on what's going on in my world in the village.

Last Monday I got a phone call from Tracy telling me she "hurt her knee." I assumed she just twisted it. Later that day she insisted I take her to the chiropractor to have him take a look. She explained what happened and how bad it was hurting. He said he didn't want to do anything to it at that time. The next morning she called and made an appointment for that afternoon. They did an MRI right away and called an hour later with the results. So what's the diagnosis? A torn meniscus, a bruised tibia bone, and a torn ACL! How the heck did she do that from standing up from a kneeling position? She has been running every day for a few months so maybe it was damaged and she moved "just wrong" and the whole knee fell apart.

Now what. Tomorrow she goes in for surgery to fix the torn meniscus. IF the bruised bone is better and the swelling is down they will also fix the ACL. If not, she has to wait another six weeks before she can have the ACL repaired. That will mean another six weeks of total immobilization of the knee
BEFORE surgery and another how many weeks of recovery AFTER the second surgery.

For the last week I've either been at Tracy's house taking care of the girls there or they also come and stay at my house sometimes. It's quite a switch going from "an empty nester" to trying to get my work done during naps. Thank goodness we live just a golf cart ride from each other.

For those of you that don't know....Tracy's husband is a truck driver like Brian. He is gone for weeks at a time. (Just in case you were thinking "Why doesn't her hubby take care of her and the girls?")

This is what family does for each other when one needs help. It will be a long healing road ahead for Tracy but we will do whatever it takes to get through this. I just think about the families dealing with much worse situations than this.

We are truly blessed.

Keep Tracy in your prayers in the next few days.

(and for this Grandma constantly chasing after a crazy 11 month old)
