I have a few tools that I have in mind that are on my wishlist.

After months of neglect I've finally updated the look of this blog and I love it! I realized that your blog-wear should really be a picture of what you intend it to be. Otherwise, it would be a chore just to update it. Now, I'm more inspired to update this site because I found a theme that matches my intent. That being said, more updates coming soon!

Sa aming paglalayag noong kapaskuhan, binalak naming pumunta sana sa Geothermal Power Plant sa Mt. Apo para ipakita sa aming mga tsikiting ang pangalawang pinakamalaking planta ng alternatibong enerhiyang geothermal sa buong mundo subalit nasa kalahati pa lang kami ng aming biyahe ay di na nakayanan ng aming sasakyan ang biyahe at unti-unti na syang naghingalo at nawalan ng "power" kaya kami ay napilitang huminto sa tabing daan. Kami pala ay napadpad na sa boundary ng Kidapawan, Cotabato at sa aming pagkagulat, mayroon palang magandang pahingahan na pang-turista dito kaya ang aming pagka-unsyami at panghihinayang ay medyo parang nabuhusan na ng malamig na tubig.

Dito ko natagpuan ang kakaibang puno na ito na aking pinagdiskitahan. Labis akong naaliw kasi dahil ang hugis at pagbagsak ng mga dahon nya ay tila hugis puso kaya siya ay talagang aking piniktyuran. Ako ay napangiti sa aking sarili at tunay na namangha - may 'sense of humor' din pala ang Dakilang Maylikha. Kahit saan, kahit kailan sa kahit anong paraan puede syang magsalita, magparamdam na lab naman nya kami - kunsuelo de amor kahit kami ay nasiraan ng sasakyan. :)

LO Share - Project Digiscrap 365

So I’m still on a blogging blitz and I’m updating the layouts I’ve done for this year. Now, I’m not on a one layout a day thing. What I’m hoping for is to finish 365 layouts for this year (personal) not including SFH stuff I do. It looks like I’m not going to be posting them in sequence because some of the layouts I’ve done can’t be posted until a later date so I’ll be posting them according to my own file numbering (just in case you get confused about my counting skills LOL).

Pasinaya 2009 sa CCP

I’m in a blogging mood this morning so I think I’ll update my blog a bit and then some. I’ve been out the past few days coz my in-laws were here for a visit and I had a few layout jobs to finish for TDS (The Daily Scrapper) and some friends as well. I was also invited by a friend to photoshoot for her at the CCP’s Pasinaya last Sunday. We met at Festival Mall Alabang right after our Sunday Service here in Sta. Rosa and me and my family rushed to Alabang to meet her at Starbucks Festi. Thank God for convenient coffee franchises! It makes meet ups so much easier. We arrived at the CCP early for rehearsals and blocking. Fortunately, I had the chance to practice my shots and test my camera’s settings before my friend’s ballet company came on. I’m not done with all the editing, but I am quite happy with the shots I took this time. The photography class I took last year has helped me a lot and I’m slowly taking ownership of my little Oly. :)

Here are a few of the shots I took during the event. Most of them taken with these settings (except the outdoor shots) with my Olympus E410 : Shutter priority 1/100,ISO 1600, F4, no flash

Mahilig ka ba sa Twilight?

Kung ikaw ay isa sa mga libo-libong(? pero di ako kasali dun) tao na nakabasa ng aklat na Twilight o dili kaya ay nakapanood ng pelikulang ito baka sakaling makahiligan mo ang lahok ko sa linggong ito. Ito ang mga paniking kulay tsokolate na matatagpuan sa kuweba sa Samal Island. Talaga namang kikiligin ka at hihimatayin sa kakaibang amoy nila - makapigil hininga talaga! Kailangan mong pigilang huminga kasi baka bumaliktad ang iyong sikmura sa sangsang ng amoy nila. Pero sa tutoo lang, ka-kyut naman sila sa malapitan, di ba? Baka isa sa kanila yung bida sa Twilight, no? Papa-kiss ka ba? Sali na kayo!

Ang makulay na pagbabalik ko sa LP

Matagal tagal na ding panahon mula nang ako’y huling lumahok sa lingguhang pagbabahagi ng mga larawan sa LP. May iba-iba kasing panahon at kulay ang buhay ng tao. Nag-iiba ang mga nakagawian at may mga pagbabagong hindi maiiwasan. Bagamat sa aking pakiramdam ako ay naging prodigal pansamantala, may mga araw na iniisip ko kung kailan ako magkakapanahon na makalahok na muli dahil ito ay naging bahagi na ng aking buhay. Kaya mga kapatid kong ka-LP pipilitin kong makabawi sa mga “homework” ngayong taong ito. Pasensya na lamang po mga klasmeyt pero kahit naman po ako’y absent di ko naman po inalis ang aking LP id dito sa aking tahanan sa internet. Kung inyo pong mamarapatin, narito po ang aking mga lahok - para sa linggong ito at para na din sa nakaraan. Ito ay ilan sa mga eksena sa makulay kong daigdig.Narito ang aking mga lahok para sa mga nakaraang linggo:

LP-Pula

Ito marahil ang pinakasikat na pula sa buong mundo. Kahit saan, kahit kailan kasama sa mga pagsasalo, saksi sa mga kabanata ng ating buhay, malungkot man o masaya. Nakakadagdag buhay daw ito, ika nga. Pero sa aking sariling pagkakaalam, ito ay tunay na nakakadagdag balakang. (kuha sa Sampaguita Gardens sa Aklan kung saan makikita ang Precious Moments na mga manika)

LP-Asul

Ang kulay asul karaniwan ay sumisimbolo ng kapayapaan, kahinahunan at katahimikan. Subalit pag ito ay nahaluan ng kulay itim ito ay nagiging madilim at maaring magpahiwatig ng kalungkutan o nagbabadyang bagyo. (kuha sa Boracay noong nakaraang Oktubre 2008)

LP-Kahel

Ang paglubog ng araw ay sumisimbolo ng pagtatapos o pagwawakas, pamamaalam at pagpapahinga mula sa isang araw ng gawain. Minsan malungkot isipin ang pagtatapos subalit mayroon din syang angking kakaibang kagandahan na nagbibigay kapayapaan sa kalooban… ang unti-unting paglaho ng araw ay nagbibigay daan para ang liwanag naman ng buwan ang syang maging tanglaw sa dilim. Kung hindi lulubog ang araw, hindi mo makikita ang buwan at ang mga bituin, di ba?(kuha sa Boracay noong Oktubre 2008)

Pasensya na mga ka-LP ha, pero sana tuloy-tuloy na ulit ako sa pagsali linggo- linggo. Para sa mga nais lumahok sa lingguhang pagbabahagi ng mga larawan at mga piling akda sa sarili nating wika sumali na kayo sa Litratong Pinoy.

A Photography Toot!

Last year, I was invited to join a free Photography course sponsored by Isuzu (IADI). It was held at the Isuzu Alabang Showroom along Zapote and the course was taught by photographer Toni Cuesta. It was my first formal lesson in photography and I really appreciate what I learned because I now can shoot more intelligently and be more technically correct instead of just winging it. I didn’t know a lot about technique before the class and although I’ve read and am still reading about photography, there are some things that the books don’t teach you. More caught than taught, I would say.

One of our first few assignments was about aperture settings. We were supposed to submit our work and upload it to flickr and teacher Toni C. would check it online. I didn’t have much time to go hunting for a shot so I just looked around our house for something interesting to take and I ended up taking a pic of the tree outside our house. Flowering trees are not my specialty but this one is one of the original trees that we had planted when we first moved in. I love the purple flowers that cascade down the branches of this tree. Now I’m not much of a green thumb and I’ve killed a lot of rose bushes already but at least this one survived. Thanks to our once a month gardener. LOL

You can see more of my homework in my flickr account. I’m not an expert peeps so be kind. Anyway, the culminating activity of the course was a contest. We were supposed to submit at least 3 photos that fit the theme - Me and My Isuzu and these entries would be displayed in the Isuzu showrooms in Alabang, Pasig and Cavite so that people could vote for their favorites. I don’t particularly like popularity contests because I don’t think I can ever win one anyway. Last December, I think right before my birthday, this was while we were in Davao, I received a phone call from Isuzu telling me my entry had won 2nd place. I couldn’t believe it! There were more experienced and technically better photographers in the class and for my entry to win…it just blew me away. It wasn’t exactly my first time to win in a photo contest ( I also had a winning entry in the first Hershey’s Happiness Contest a few years ago) but it still is a wonderful feeling. I know I still have so much to learn in photography and I know that I’m not in the league of the pros yet but God has a way of assuring me of His grace, His love and His approval of me no matter how little I think of myself. I felt it was His and my dad’s birthday present to me. I just wish I could hug them both…

This shot was taken at the Isuzu Showroom in Alabang. Those are my kids inside that brand new Isuzu monster of a car. LOL No, I did not win the car, I got a trophy and gift checks. hee hee ^_^

Buying Glasses Online

During one of her Kumon classes, the teacher noticed DD squinting. I noticed that she does it while doing other things. At times she asks us to go to the eye doctor. Considering that she might need glasses , I shop around and encounter Zenni Optical $ 8 Rx Eyeglasses. This site got me really interested as Glasses in the Philippines would be 5x the cost. I find a frame in their catalogs DD would like, if she was prescribed correctives. This one was priced at $12.95

I did more research and found that Zenni Optical was on FOX news! The segment did show that, if you have simple requirements and you know what you need, purchasing from them would be OK. My concern though was that for younger children the risk of not getting the right glasses would be high.

The Incredible Stylish New Frames From Zenni also include elegant rectangular full rims that my DH wants me to wear.

It looks like, purchasing glasses is now in the 21st century.

Ako'y nagdalawang isip kung aking isasali

ang mga kuha ng aming kasal sampung taon

nang nakakaraan

Medyo rebolusyonaryo kasi ang aming konsepto

taliwas sa nakaugalian at nakagawiang kasuotan

Hinango mula sa ating mga ninuno nung kapanahunan

ng Lahing Maharlika - ng mga Datu at Sultan

dugong bughaw na dumadaloy sa ating mga ugat

bago pa dumating mga Kano at Kastilang dayuhan

pinilit namin buhayin sa aming kasalan.

(Dahil sa ako ay medyo nahihiya pa

Uumpisahan ko sa nakatalikod muna)

Ito ang aming pastor

na nakumbinsi naming kakuntsaba

makiayon sa aming pakulo

at magsuot ng magara

Eto naman ang mga kaibigang

napilit ding mabihisan

Mukha naman silang masaya di ba

kahit medyo naiinitan :)

(may libreng pamaypay naman sila eh)

At eto naman

ang aking mga kapuso at kapamilyang

Sumuporta ng husto sa aming kalokohan

kahit medyo tila sila'y nahiwagaan.

(di yata kami ay medyo binuangan :D)

Sana ay medyo di kayo nabigla

sa aming lakas ng loob at kapal ng mukha

Lumangoy kontra sa agos at sumubok ng kakaiba

at para sa mga nagbabalak pa lamang na magpakasal

Di lamang puti ang kulay ng trahe de boda!

Mabuhay ang Bagong Kasal!
