Journey of Orkes Akiuku on July

To start the July event, OA were invited to perform for SKMM Dinner at Pan Pacific Sutera Harbour. The theme colour for the event was White and Pink. So everybody are being told to wear clothes coloured white and pink, even the boys have to wear pink :)

After the dinner on the 4th July 2012. OA has been invited to be guest performer for the Tweet Up KK Open Mic at Party Play, Lintas. OA wasn't performing together, instead they were put in groups. The girls of OA Pija, Kaetyng and Mandy were in one group and there's Averil and Jboy another group performing Ukulele Instrumental.

On the 7th July 2012, the 7K Sunset Charity Run was held at Sutera Harbour and OA are invited to perform there too. Together with various local artist and also Aliff Aziz an artist from Singapore. It was one of the best performance ever, because of the sound system being superly awesome, the crowd was so amazing and we had so much fun!

On the 28th July 2012, OA has joined in the fun for the Borneo Train Ride to Beaufort. Thanks to Caroline Manson to invite OA to perform some songs in the train and at Beaufort Train Station. It is also a time to promote our CD's to people at Beaufort as well as in the train :)

And then comes June. Another busy month for Orkes Akiuku, June Gathering has been done at Anjung Senja on the 8th June 2012. Not many pictures were taken that day, everybody was having so much fun singing and playing the uke :)

Next event was the closing ceremony @ open house at Keningau with the PM. It was a big event, OA get to perform on the same stage as Nash and Faizal Tahir.

Another BIG event was the Sunset Music Festival at Simpang Mengayau (Tip of Borneo), Kudat on the 29th June 2012. Happy as they were, OA got the chance to perform at the Sunset Music Fest for 2012. It was a fun and exciting moment. Not only the performance was awesome, OA had so much fun on the journey to Kudat too.

On 30th June 2012, OA had been invited to perform for the KK Tweet Up Baazar at Harbour City. We were given to open a booth ourselves too. So many interesting things you can find on the baazar.

May is a BIG day for Orkes Akiuku. Earlier of the month of May, Orkes Akiuku has been invited to do an interview with KKFM at UMS about their first album.

The next BIG thing for May is on the 24th May 2012 it is the day of Orkes Akiuku First Album Launch! Their first CD titled "One Love". It was held at La Fuente, 1Borneo. Together with Ridah Malanjang's second album titled "Yang Kedua". Richado Tawith is the producer of both Ridah and Orkes Akiuku. Family and friends of Richado, Ridah and Orkes Akiuku are to be seen that night. It was a successful launch and very thankful for the big support from everybody. Other artists can be seen there too such as Candy AF, The Jade Sisters, Atama, Obie KKFM DJ, ReyNizam and Harlod, AlvinMY (MC for that night), Syoknya Bayu (Channel 108, TVi) presenter Enn and more. Daily Express Media Press are also there.

After the launch at 1Borneo. Kaamatan is just around the corner so OA took the opportunity to open a booth at KDCA together with Ridah and Appy. For 3 Days and Nights OA has been at the booth performing and promoting their album. Many has come to support OA, it was a moment that they will never forget :)

And its April! Here are some activity that OA had done for April :) OA had a second Music Video Shoot for Save Our Culture and shoot has been done in various places in KK such as Double Six, Gaya Street, Tanjung Lipat, Atkinson Tower, Yayasan Sabah Tower and Kundasang. Here's the finished video! Enjoy :)

Other than that we have been performing at my University that is at UniRazak Kota Kinabalu. Here are some of the performance we made for month April.

Usually performance done at UniRazak are for the students events that they made for a subject of theirs. Since i'm one of the students there, might as well give a hand on entertaining the students there and helping them out :)

Then comes March. Our first event for March was for the SKMM roadshow, this time it was held tamu Tuaran after the show we went to a friends Majlis Kesyukuran for Ariez Band for getting on top of the chart list for a long period of time.

The next activity for OA is the shooting of One Love Music Video at Simpang Mengayau, Kudat. Had so much fun shooting it and here's the Music Video!

And the end for March event is a Charity Open Day Event at bangunan PPS for KYS students.

Right so, after the Street Jamm on January 2012 event was held. Not much event was going on the month of Jan, then comes the month of February. First event was a picnic gathering with the Orkes Akiuku family at Tanjung Aru Beach 2. Had a BBQ and potluck with friends and family, fun day hanging out jamming and singing. Check out some pics of how fun it was :P

After the Potluck Picnic.We were involved with the Bonding with the street event, to remind and relive about the history of Gaya Street when it was back when i wasn't born again. No picture was taken, but we made a video with one of the organizer Anne and KK's very own power vocal Julie. This song was made on the same day the video was shot :)

Next was an Open Mic at CHINGU, Waterfront. Organized by Bandwidth Magazine. An open mic is for anyone who wants to come and just perform a song for the audience, its open to all. Orkes Akiuku was invited to be the guest performers along with other known artists.

Then comes to the end of month february's event that is the SKMM event at Gaya Street and Johnathan Tse Album Launch at Party Play, Lintas :)

And that's the end of the month of February :)

After reading my sister's updated blog www.antgelnich.blogpost.com i suddenly have the urge to start blogging again. aaaannndddd I'm Back! hahaha ^_^ well to start off a new post i'll update some bits on the group Orkes Akiuku of what their journey has been in the last 7 months.

My previous post shows that Orkes Akiuku had made a Ukulele Street Jamm at Tanjung Aru Beach, gathering people from all over KK and outside of KK. It was an awesome day! After the street jamm event, a lot has happen from their very first Mini Album Launching to The Sunset Music Fest at Kudat. Loads of fun and exciting event has been held and i'm very excited to share to all of you :)

i don't have an excited face pic. so i'm using my niece's happy face instead. Haha! :D

First Ukulele Shop in Kota Kinabalu JUSTUKE!

JustUke is the first ukulele shop in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It's located at 88 Marketplace. Many people had visited the place and most of the ukulele has been sold. But worry not, new stock of ukulele are coming before christmas. Orkes Akiuku are always hanging out there especially on the weekends, sometimes they'll do some recording session, some just hang out and have some fun. OA at Shelter Home

16th Sept Orkes Akiuku went to a Shelter Home near Kobusak area. Arrived there at 11am, and ended at 2pm. It was FUN entertaining the kids and the shelter residents. Love to do it again! And we had a short and informational talk about HIV/AIDS by Mr. Joseph. Thanks to aunty Agnes Khaw for giving us the chance to perform there ^_^

Orkes Akiuku Visit to Shelter Home at Kobusak

Orkes Akiuku will be having a visit to A Shelter Home at Kobusak on the 16th Sept 2011(Malaysia Day) just to cheer them up and entertain them with our music and love for the ukulele. The Shelter home is runned by our very own OA member Aunty Agnes Khaw. She's been very-very supportive of OA, eventhough she's the oldest of us all. She's like our Mummy. FYI she's actually the mother of DJ Cassie HitzKK. It's been awesome having more and more members and activities with OA. More upcoming events will be updated ^_^ On the left is the map going to the Shelter Home.

Street Jamming at Jesselton Point

Sunday (11sept) Busking/ Street Jamming session with Orkes Akiuku and KKMP crew. Gathered there around 4pm and ended at around 6pm. Had to finish early because of the heavy rain. Thought that not many of us will show up since some of OA members is busy. But with great luck, a lot of people turned up that day! Woohoo!! And it was SUPER AWESOME! Although it rained, but we all still had so much fun singing songs and playing our music to the public. This is something all of us will never ever forget!

Orkes Akiuku in Harian Ekspress!

Orkes Akiuku is in Harian Ekspress (Daily Express) today(13th sept 2011). Had that street jamming activity on Sunday(11th Sept) at Jesselton Point, KK. with the KKMP crew and other local artist. Had so much fun that day. And had a short & simple interview with the reporter that day too :)
